Seeing contents of an export dump

Hey experts,
I get a lot of export dumps from various people maintaining different versions of oracle from 8 to 10. I usually need to import them onto a 9i or 10g test server for testing or development purposes. 25% of the times I am told how has the export been done. ie. things like - it is a schema export, so do it using fromuser/touser parameters or it is just a few tables or it is a tablespace. 75% of times I am left to do the guessing work and I usually start trying out commands and see which one completes successfully without issues or warnings.
So - is there a specific way to find out what exactly is in the dump and determine how should it be imported. I was also given a datafile once and I sent it back yelling - WHAT THE F***!! Can we actually import a datafile from another server on a completely different environment?

This is wat it returned. It did not show me any tables or objects that it should have. What am I doing thats not correct.

How to import external table, which exist in export dump file.

My export dump file has one external table. While i stated importing into my developement instance , I am getting the error "ORA-00911: invalid character".

While importing , when i seen the log file , it is failing the create the external table. Getting the error "ORA-00911: invalid character".
Can some one suggest how to import external tables

When i observed the create table syntax of external table from import dump log file, it show few lines as below. I could not understand these special characters. And create table definationis failing with special character viz ORA-00911: invalid character

I even observed the create table DDL from TOAD. It is same as i mentioned earlier

IMPORT a VIEW from an export dump file

I'm trying to import a view from an export dump file. In using the Import Utility, do I use the TABLE parameter and give the View name ie: TABLES=view1
null

Only I want to do is import ONE view from an export dmp file that contains hundereds of table, many views and procedures. I do not want to reimport everything from the export file.

500 internal server error while Export wedbdynpro content into Excel.

Hi Experts,
my requirement is export webdynpro content into excel sheet, so for this what i have did is
First step:
) created an Extneral library DC
2) imported the JARs to the libraries folder of the External Library DC project
3) Right-click on each of the JARs imported to the project and added them to the public part.
Second step:
1) Createed a new Reuse Web Dynpro DC
2) Created a new public part, selecting the "Can be packaged into other build results" option
3) extrcted the full content (folders and class files) to root folder
4) Imported the folders and files to the src/packages folder
5)binded the attributes, created 3 methods and writen the code for those methods.
Third Step:
1) created one more EXPORT EXCEL DC
2) ADDED LIB jar dc and Reuse DC IN used dc's
3) created usedwebdynpo component and binded attributes to Table VIEW and writen the code for exposing table values.
After this build and deployed i am getting clasnot found error
so what i have did now is
Fourth step:
1)Created "J2EE Library DC"
2) Refered "External Library DC" into J2EE Library DC.
3) Deployed "J2EE Library DC"
4) Refered this one in my Web Dynpro DC by giving Library Reference.
now when i deploy and run what happend i am getting
500 Internal Server Error SAP J2EE Engine/7.01
Application error occurred during request processing.
Details: com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.core.DispatcherException: Failed to start deployable object sap.com/export_file_excel_7.
Exception id: [00215E78C4C0006D00000AD9000E00F00004887F642A32FE]
Any one can tell what could be the problem.

HOW TO IMPORT DATA MORE THAN ONCE FROM THE SAME EXPORT DUMP FILE?

So after analysing this log file, i created
the appropriate drives and folders... as the
import statement doesn't see them.
E:\ORADATA G:\ORDATA etc...
And i started to [b]IMPORT ONE MORE TIME. with:

Even if we have to overwrite tablespaces , tables and users.

Logical standby error with export dump

oracal 10g have a setup logical standby and when i am running export dump from logical i got this error.
EXP-00008: ORACLE error 16224 encountered
ORA-16224: Database Guard is enabled
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully
can someone help me out how can it posibal to take export dump and datapump from logical standby.

Export dump file and log file name as sysdate in script

Can anybody help me to give logical backup export dump file namd log file name is as contain sysdate in its name so that we can Uniquelly identified it.

On windows it gets a bit hairy as there really is no clean and nice way of doing it.There are a couple of options.
1. If you can rely on dateformat not changing, you can use a static substring expression. For example, the following might work w/ finnish locale echo %date:~3,2%%date:~6,2%%date:~9,4%Similarly, when you know the dateformat you can tokenize the output of 'date /t' and discard the tokens you don't want.
2. You can set dateformat to your liking and then just use %date% in your script
3. You can run a "SELECT to_char(sysdate,..." into a file and then read that file in your script.
4. Simon Sheppard also has a solution you could use as a basis. I have a slight issue with the approach, but that could just be me.
5. Use gnuwin32 or similar ;)
Also note that %date% env var is set automatically from w2k onwards, so some of the solutions might not work w/ older versions.

Exporting Catalog Content in CCM 2.0

I would like to know if it is possible to export the content of a catalog to Excel.
In CCM 2.0 it seems to be that one can only export the structure of the catalog.

Where can I have a look at this class /CCM/CL_CATALOG_EXPORT and method EXPORT_CATALOG ? What trx are we talking about?
It is not a report or a function, what is it, executable or not?

Oracle 9i Export dump date

I have an Oracle 9i export dump (export.dmp) file and I want to know when this export dump was taken (database snapshot-datetime stamp).
Is there any utility or process to extract this information from dump file.

There probably is a utiltiy somewhere.
However, I just open the file using a simple text editor (I use vi) and look at the date on about the 10th line of the file. Just don't save ...

Import of Table data only from Full export Dump

I want to import data inot specified tables of a databse only. Is it possible to do this from a dump file which is the full export of the another database. The database i want to import into is the mirror of the database whose export dump i want to use. Let me know if this is possible and if yes then how i could do this.

Generation sql script form export dump

I have a export dump of oracle 9i database at table level. Now I have to generate all the sqls which are in that export dupm file. Is there any way without importing this export file I can generate sql script???

As correctly said by yingkuan use the indexfile option in imp.It would create a file like below

if ur on linux/solaris u can delete the REM by using awk command like

and this should be somewhat ready for you to run as a script in sqlplus :)

How to write export dump commad with no datable data only table structure will there and command for hole schma.
e.g. export dump command for scott schema and all table within scott schema in it no table data should be exported.

If I understand the question, it sounds like you just need to add the flag "ROWS=N" to your export command (I assume that you're talking about the old export utility, not the Data Pump version).
