I don't really know how to do this or if its possible, but simple question: Can you burn a DVD that simply plays the video from start to finish? no menu....

incase anyone reads this i figured it out...hahaha
i opened Studio Pro and literally figured it out in a second....stupid, maybe i should just mess around first and ask questions later. knock

  • Exporting DVD with many menues and timelines

I'm creating with some friends an interactive DVD for children. So we've made games such as labyrints, questions based games, and this kind of things. Maybe it was a mistake, but we've done all with Adobe Encore 2.0. I haven't had problems creating these games, linking menues and timelines until they formed a playable game, but the project soon reached a very large number of timelines and, most of all, menues. So, when i try to export my project into a DVD or a DVD-Folder, the program start to render menues, but then it doesn't go on. I've waited 5 hours, but...nothing. It say: "CREATING FOLDER" and then, "RENDERING MENU 11", and here remains.
So, can you tell me what happened? The problem is related too a too huge number of elements in the project, or is another kind of problems?
    Thank all of you...

    Can you
    i please
give more details? There is simply not enough information here to even begin to work the solution out.
    How many timelines?
    How many menus?
What type of menu is menu 11? Motion/Static/With or without Audio?
What is your system spec? (CPU/RAM/HDD's installed/Other stuff running in the background etc)
The more detail you can give, the better

  • Best Settings for Exporting DVD Footage in a Movie File

    Hello,
I've been trying to find the best settings for exporting DVD footage into a movie file from Adobe Premiere CS6.
I recently have been using my Magnavox DVD recorder for recording VHS tapes that I made long ago for shows and various other things, and no matter what, my footage doesn't come out as it needs to be.
Here's an example of what I did recently with my own settings:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFV4sT7rHGs
I'm not expecting HD footage, I know these are tapes, but I'm playing the raw footage on my Xbox 360, and it looks better than this. I had to directly use the VOB files on the DVD for this, as trying to rip the files into an AVI or any other format with a DVD ripper didn't do anything, in fact it degraded the quality and made the audio not play in Premiere.
So what would be some good settings for exporting a sequence with DVD footage that is from a VHS into a movie file, preferably one that wouldn't degrade the quality?
    Thanks!

First, read Why not edit mpeg http://tangentsoft.net/video/mpeg/edit.html to get a general idea of why a VOB makes a very poor source file (which is a renamed MPG, with some other stuff like menu screens)
Also, Read Bill Hunt on editing a VOB/MPG file http://forums.adobe.com/thread/464549
Once you have a DVD compliant VOB on your timeline, and understanding that a standalone DVD recorder sometimes plays fast-n-loose with "compliance" per the DVD specification, about all you can do is export to standard or widescreen DV AVI and accept the fact that re-encoding an already compressed file is just not going to give great results

Hi everybody, I am trying to create a DVD pal without menu with the program iDVD from a .mov file. Any ideas? Thanks so much.

    (From fellow poster Mishmumken: )
How to create a DVD in iDVD without menu (there are several options):
    1. Easy: Drop your iMovie in the autoplay box in iDVD's Map View, then set your autoplay item (your movie) to loop continously. Disadvantage: The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
    2. Still easy: If you don't want your (autoplay) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the dropzone (text needs to be black as well). Disadvantage: The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
    3. Still quite easy but takes more time: Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage: One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
    4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software: Roxio Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn. Disadvantage: you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
    5. The "hard way": Postproduction with myDVDedit (freeware)
    Tools necessary: myDVDedit ( http://www.mydvdedit.com )
    • create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
    • Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
    • Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
    • Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
    • Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
    • Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
    • Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager:
    http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/dvdimager.html
Our resident expert, Old Toad, also recommends this: there is a 3rd export/share option that give better results.  That's to use the Share ➙ Media Browser menu option.  Then in iDVD go to the Media Browser and drag the movie into iDVD where you want it.
    Hope this helps!

  • DVD PRO burning a dvd without a menu after compressing from fcp7

I editing my project using FCP7 then compressed it using best quality DVD 90 min in Compressor and now I am try to burn dvd's using DVD PRO. I am trying to make a dvd with no menu-I just want to be able to hit play and have the dvd play without any graphics on a menu in the beginning. I am trying to import using DVD PRO does not work. I have also tried to export using Compressor-does not work. I keep getting a warning box popping up that says there is trouble in the files or not a compatible file from compressor. I do not understand how that could be since I compressed it using compressor-do not get it. Thanks.

DVDs use an MPEG-2 codec, so regardless of which codec FCP uses to compress the Quicktime file, it will end up as MPEG-2 when you burn to DVD. So as long as the video preview plays in iDVD, you should be fine just using the "Best Quality" setting.
If you are really concerned about the quality, you can also try exporting the video using Compressor and authoring the DVD in DVD Studio Pro. It's a bit more complicated, but the results are worth learning the software.
    Hope this helps.

  • PE11 Rip from DVD- putting a menu on- burning that to DVD ruins quality

First, I've read some things here and there, but can't find the exact same scenarios in other posts, although I'm sure this is a fairly common problem (SIAP):
Here is a summary of the issue:
    1) Our guy produced a video for our organization and gave me a DVD-R of the 11 minute project. I imported this into PE11 and on the timeline it says .VOB. Now on the desktop, the 481 mb VTS_01_1 file properties state that it is 720x480, 29 fps... although I find it strange that the clip as imported into PE11 in properties in the project assets window says it's 23.976 frame rate. Making things more confusing (don't even know if any of this matters) is that in an instance of Share->Export to Computer, the "source" says the video is 1920x1080, 29.97 fps. Don't know if any of this matters...
    2) Anyways, the reason I ripped it is for the sole purpose of creating a menu on the DVD. So I picked a "HD" template, imported my own JPEG on to it, then attempted as best I could to erase all the buttons except for "Play Movie." AGain, not sure if the Menu functionality has anything to do with the issue, but I figured I'd mention it.
    3) I've tried several times burning the video with both DVD-R and +R using both NTSC Dolby and Widescreen Dolby to burn to DVD.
The resulting DVD has a degraded, fuzzy image and the black frame lines at bottom and top seem to bounce and jitter.
The image on the original DVD is clearly HD and looks great, without any bouncing, jittering, etc. Also, the DVD app i used to watch the original on my computer is the same as I used to watch my own burned DVD... So PE11 has clearly degraded the image, something is going on in the export.
Another thing worth mentioning is that as I look at the video footage in PE11 on full screen, I can see that even in PE11, the video quality is not the same as the original DVD and there are obvious artifacts and just nonsense in the picture... Not necessarily as bad as the burn, but similar.
I've done a little reading on these forums about .VOB files... I don't fully understand them. Is it that the image is messed up from the beginning with an import from DVD? IS there a way to do what I want (take hiqual video from a DVD, put a menu on it, then burn it back onto DVD?) with PE11? Or is the only way to make a burn from the original source file before it was burned the first place?

Please get a MediaInfo readout of your VOB at the onset to determine what you have, especially standard or widescreen.
    http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
Special Interest: Frame size, Frame rate, Display 4:3 or 16:9, Scan Type and Scan Order for which I am expecting Interlaced and Lower Field First.
Here is my take on your situation.
    1. The Canon 6D can capture 1080p video (1920 x 1080 16:9 at 29.97 or 30 frames per second), but from what you wrote somewhere along the line someone put that through a video "authoring" program to convert it into DVD-VIDEO format on a DVD disc (720 x 480). At this point, we need to know standard or widescreen. Both standard and widescreen will be 720 x 480, but the widescreen will have a 16:9 flag included to stretch the video for display after encoding.
    Question:
    a. What is on that DVD disc....just a file name VTS_01_1 (file size 481 MB) or two folders named OpenDVD and VIDEO_TS? If you have a file, for Premiere Elements 11, you would use Add Media/Files and Folders to get the file in Project Assets. If you have the DVD disc in the DVD burner tray, you would use Add Media/DVD Camera or Computer Drive to rip the VOB and get the VOB into the project.
b.Your project is going to get messed up and confusing, if you let the program set the project preset for you. You will most likely end up with the default NTSC AVCHD Full HD1080i30 which is inappropriate for your project. So, before thinking or acting on Get Media....open a new project, go to File Menu/New/Project and set the project preset in the New Project dialog for NTSC DV Standard or NTSC DV Widescreen depending on what you find beforehand about the properties of your VOB MediaInfo Then use Add Media/and the appropriate choice based on what I wrote above about VOB already ripped vs DVD-VIDEO ripping.
    c. When you have your VOB on the TImeline with the appropriate project setting, right click the file in Project Assets and verify Premiere Elements 11's interpretation of the file frame rate and other to determine if it agrees with the MediaInfo readout. It would be very unusual if there was a differnce, but...
    d. Whether you have a NTSC or PAL project, all the SD DVD Templates have a frame size of 720 x 576 (PAL sizing). The ones tagged HD have a 1440 x 1080 frame size. Right now I would advise you to stay with the SD ones, but not be afraid to experience with a HD choice if it appealing and see what happening during encoding.
    e. In all this, you did not say what the duration is of this 481 MB VOB file. The standard DVD disc is spec'd at 4.7 GB/120 min. That 4.7 GB in reality is 4.3 GB. You will frequently see the recommendation "for best results, do not exceed 90 minutes on this standard type disc". When you have your DVD disc in the DVD burner tray and are in the burn dialog of Publish+Share/Disc/DVD make sure to check the Quality Area of the burn dialog for the Space Required and Bitrate reading (8.00 Mbps is the max reading).
Based on what you wrote, I suspect that most of your problems were related to incorrect project settings. By the way, if you want to get rid of a menu button text, most of the time double click the text to bring up the Change Text dialog, highlight the text there, hit the delete key of the computer, then hit the space bar or enter key.
If you are replacing the menu's audio, max 30 sec with looping. If you use motion buttons in the menu, max 4.9 seconds. After you get the details of the project setup OK, we can focus in more on the menus...number of Timeline markers etc, and customization of the menus from within the program.
Lots of details. The answers and successes will be in the details. All the contributors here have given you a lot of ideas for exploration and experimentation.
Please do not hesitate to ask if you need clarification on anything that I have written.
Looking forward to learning of your progress.
    Thanks.

  • Satellite M70-340: I cannot see the DVD schort cut menu after reinstallation

    Hi,
I just recently bought Toshiba M70-340 2 weeks ago. Now I learn that there is better Toshiba comparing the my one.
My question is I cannot see on the screen the DVD schort cut menu. First time when I opened it it was on the rıght handside
of screen and my machine was Turkish Win XP Home edition. Than I reformat and change into English version of WinXP that comes with in Toshiba recovery CD. But I lost the screen menu for DVD I guess. Now ı don't know how to re-install that option.
Plus my machine is use the Intel Centrino 1.7 but I am not sure if this is a dual proccess. Secondly the ram is 512MB and I am trying to buy 2GB extened ram but seems still very very expensive (around $1100) Why is that 2GB ram so expensive?
I am using my laptop for software engineering as well as using Macromedia flash and Adobe Photoshop.
The both application and MS VS.NET 2005 as well as SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 application are very slow and sometime it takes more than 30
min. to compile or open it.
I have my home PC P4 3.2G with 1GB ram and it's faster than my Toshibe laptop.
Please be patien with me, after a 5 years later I bought my second laptop and first one was notebook from another manufacture.
I search in the internet and I find the M70-340 with Turkish Q type keyboard was the best option and it cost me $1450.
All I need how to overcome my problem and I need someone from Toshiba to explained to me carefully.
Can someone read my post and answer my question and worries?
I thank you very much and I looking forward to receive some help.
    Kind Regards,

    Hello
I dont want to disappoint you but please dont expect someone from Toshiba will write to you because this is user-to-user forum. I will try to write some comments because I have the same unit as you.
This DVD shortcut is really not understandable for me and I really dont know what you are writing about. If the DVD drive is recognized and installed properly it should be listed in device manager and also shown in Windows explorer. If you want to discus about it please describe exact status of DVD drive in device manager and Windows explorer.
You are right about memory. This notebook is delivered with 512 MB Ram. According the notebook specification it can handle max with 2GB of Ram and if you want to use max please use 2x1GB module. Compatible one is DDR2-400/533 1GB (PA3411U-1M1G).
2GB modules are the newest and everything new is very expensive. I dont know how much it can costs but definitely not around $1100. For this money you can buy the whole notebook.
The list of used software is impressive and I am not wondering if the notebook runs slow. Upgrade it to max Ram and it will be much faster. Please dont compare your desktop with this mobile unit.
Pick up info how much costs PA3411U-1M1G memory module and use two of them for max RAM. You will see that unit will run faster and I hope you will be satisfied with performance.
    Have a nice day!

  • How do i create a dvd with no menu in dvd sp?

i want to make dvds of a short film (just over 10mins) and have them autostart when placed in a dvd player or do nothing until somebody presses play and then it just starts. no menus or anything.
how do i do this in dvd studio pro?

To make a DVD with no menu that simply plays the moment you pop the DVD in, use this method:
    - in DVD SP select the DVD Project in the "Outline Tab". (located above the menus folder)
    - in the "Connections Tab", drag your completed Track onto the "First Play" target (located at the very top)
Notice the Target changes from "Menu 1" to "Track 1" (or the name you have given the track)
This will bypass the menu and go right to your track.
    Hope that helps,
    Arkadion

  • Making a self starting DVD with no menu

Is there any way of creating a DVD with NO menu in iDVD? Dragging the video file to the top level drop box in map mode creates a self start but then a menu appears when playing finishes.

The DVD has to have some place to go when it completes playing your movie. If you don't want to see a menu, loop your movie. You will then need to use your remote to quit the DVD.

  • NW SR3 installation issue can't find NW export DVD 3/3

    Hello,
I'm pretty decent installing SAP on unix and I'm now learning on windows 2008 R2 SP1/MS SQL 2005.  I'm also accustomed to downloading the NW install master, export CD's and unicode kernel dvd.  So here is my question:
I'd like to just install NW 7.0 SR3 ABAP only to play around and kick the tires on windows.  I've downloaded the following DVD's to start the install:
    NW Install Export 1 of 2  51033493_1
    NW Install Export 2 of 2  51033493_2
    Install Master windows x64  51038621_13
    NW 7.0 SR3 UC-Kernel 7.00 Windows Server on x64 64bit   51033508_15
I've already installed MS SQL and SAP jre.  SAPINST runs fine up to the point where I point it to the NW export DVD's.  There are only 2 export DVDS for an install but 3 DVDS for an upgrade.  The install is failing trying to find the third export DVD, but there are only 2 for an installation.  I've also doubled checked my install master was correct as well.
It's probably something simple, but I'm stuck....
    TIA
    Scott

Hello and thank you for the response.
I was setting up a distributed landscape. I had already installed the global host and I was receiving this message while trying to install the database instance.  I've since started to download NW 7.3 for Windows.  I spoke with a co-worker and it made sense for a demo landscape to use the latest version.  I hope to have better luck with 7.3.
    Thanks again for the reply.

  • How do i burn dvd with no menu - just play?

    hello,
I need to burn a dvd with no menu, so that when it plays, it goes straight to movie...
    thanks,
    steve

Steve - import your asset into DVDSP so that it appears in the assets tab. When imported (and the button shows green), drag the footage into the time line. This sets the footage into 'track 1'.
If you look in the outline view you will see Menu1 and Track 1 listed. menu 1 is the default choice for 'First Play' - if you now click on the disc icon at the top of the outline view then look in the property inspector you will find another way of setting 'First Play' - simply use the option to select the track instead.
If you control+click on the track icon in the outline view (or in the graphical view for DVDSP 3+) you get the option to set First Play there too - simply select the words at the top of the contextual menu.
