Export EPS or vector file to Illustrator

Why was the export to EPS removed from Flash? Is there a way to export a file from flash that could be opened in Illustrator? Thanks!

Hi All,
Flash Pro CC 2014 (v14.0.0.110) is now available for download via the Creative Cloud App and Adobe website.
We have added SVG Export feature to Flash Pro with this new release. You will now be able to export out vector content from the selected frame as an SVG image that can be opened directly in a Browser and even imported in Adobe Illustrator.
SVG Export option can be accessed via the Publish Settings as well as via File Menu > Export > Export Image option.
Along with this, we have added several new features with this release. Complete list is available at these links:

  • Exporting a inDesign CS2 File to Illustrator CS2 and Preserving LInks

    Hi,
I have 3 InDesign CS2 files that have several links which have been modified withing the file. The printer needs these files in Illustrator format with the links preserved, so they can swap images, adjust colors and such.
I am having a problem exporting these files to Illustrator CS2 while preserving the links.
I have tried exporting as hirez PDF/X-1a as well as a EPS. They both embedd all the files. When I go to relink everything the images come in as their original form as expected and I find I have to reformat every image which is very time consuming.
I don't want to spend hours trying to relink everything for each package, so I was wondering if there was a way I would be able to export them while preserving all my images as links to Illustrator. Is that even possible? Is there an option in CS3 perhaps? I am willing to upgrade if necessary.
    Please Help!

My boss is in charge of talking to the client and the printer. I am the designer asked to post this question to see if there was another way besides spending hours adjusting these files. I believe he is going to try and convince him otherwise looks like I will be relinking and adjusting for a while to give them what they want.

  • Separating an image from a vector file in illustrator

I cannot figure out how to separate a graphic from a a vector file I purchased on Shutter Stock which has a bunch of graphics in the file used for design.  The file has layers, and I have tried to select just one of the layers to copy and paste into a new AI file, but it doesn't work.  Nothing seems to be grouped together, and I have no idea how to tell if there is a compound path or not.
I need to separate all the images and then resize them as well.  Then I want to export to a jpeg file so that I can use in photoshop and/or publisher.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I have been looking online for help for days, and I cannot find anything that will help me.
    Thanks,
    Sheri

  • Challenge: Export Smart Object Vector Data to Illustrator

I doubt there's any sane way to do this, but I thought I'd throw it out as a challenge:
We have a photoshop file that is built with many (and I mean many) illustrator vector items that were placed into photoshop as smart objects (and scaled and rotated).
Unfortunately the file is for packaging, and we now need the vector objects back in illustrator for printing.
Is there any way to export the paths with their current position, scale and rotation back to ai?
I think we're going to end up doing it by hand...
    Thanks!
    Niles
CS2 or 3 and as many g5's and intels as needed.

Save out a PSD and open it in Illustrator. Tell Illustrator to retain Photoshops layers. You now have the ability to move the vector art around on a layer in Illustrator. If you need to edit text and objects, you need to manually replace the nested object with the original Illustrator art. Spot colors will also transfer to some extent as layered spots.
PSD is becoming Adobe's interchange format. PDF is trying to have some behaviors of PSD so go and play with them to see what works.

  • Export layers as png files from illustrator in multiple resolutions

suche ein aktuelles Skript. Das Skript das ich habe, wirft mir nur 3 Auflösungen aus un disz von 2012
    Danke_Bernhard

    Hi Larry! Thanks for replying.
Just gave it a try, set it to 0 (it was set to 36). No luck unfortunately. I still ended up with a larger file getting exported when I turned gaussian blur back on. It also made the gaussian blur that I'm applying to the textures look really weird. That's a little unrelated though: I export textures separately that get used to make the outer edges of the texture look glowy (using a combination of gaussian blur + outer glow)
    Here it is looking normal:
And here it is when I set that option to 0:
Notice the harsh lines around the edges of the object that is having gaussian blur applied to it.

  • Please help, I have a vector file in Illustrator, with a raster (jpg) image in it.  How do i save this as a small, web-quality pdf, yet preserve the raster quality of the picture??

Sorry, it's probably an easy question, but I'm a noob!

    Tomy,
Presuming only web/similar use, you may Save a Copy (or Save As, but this may give some danger of ruining your AI document) as PDF as follows:
    1) Use the setting Smallest File Size under General (this will give you RGB);
    2) Set the desired raster image resolution(s) under Compression (you may also just use Do Not Downsample).
The (lack of) compression is crucial to the file size, of course.

  • Speed up Illustrator CC when working with large vector files

Raster (mainly) files up to 350 Mb. run fast in Illustrator CC, while vector files of 10 Mb. are a pain in the *blieb* (eg. zooming & panning). When reading the file it seems to freeze around 95 % for a few minutes. Memory usage goes up to 6 Gb. Processor usage 30 - 50 %.
Are there ways to speed things up while working with large vector files in Illustrator CC?
    System:
    64 bit Windows 7 enterprise
    Memory: 16 Gb
Processor: Intel Xeon 3,7 GHz (8 threads)
    Graphics: nVidia Geforce K4000

Files with large amounts vector points will put a strain on the fastest of computers. But any type of speed increase we can get you can save you lots of time.
Delete any unwanted stray points using  Select >> Object >> stray points
    Optimize performance | Windows
Did you draw this yourself, is the file as clean as can be? Are there any repeated paths underneath your art which do not need to be there from live tracing or stock art sites?
Check the control panel >> programs and features and sort by installed recently and uninstall anything suspicious.
Sorry there will be no short or single answer to this, as per the previous poster using layers effectively, and working in outline mode when possible might the best you can do.

  • Why do my vector files rasterize when I make a contact sheet in Bridge? How can I change quality?

I am trying to make multiple vector files (Adobe Illustrator) into a PDF contact sheet. In doing this through the Output function of Bridge, the vector files are rasterized into a fuzzy, low resolution versions. I'm able to change the quality of the PDF itself; however, that does not affect how the vector files are rasterized. I can't seem to find any way to change this. I can make a contact sheet in InDesign or rasterize these things myself in Photoshop, but I thought Bridge was suppose to help "bridge" some of these functions and save some time. Has anyone found a workaround or some hidden quality box that I'm missing?

  • Objects look like bitmaps when importing vector files

    Hello,
I am absolute beginner with ID CS5. I am going trough a bunch of tutorials, and there is one thing I cannot solve.
When I am importing vector file content (Illustrator CS5 file with vector objects - strokes) into InDesign frame,
imported object looks like low resolution bitmap. What am I doing wrong? Is there any option I should enable or disable
to have imported objects in vector format?
    Thanks in advance for answers,
    Best Regards,
    Mi

Yup! Try View -> Display Performace -> High Quality. InDesign substitutes low-res previews when you're in Standard display mode. (And ID tends to run a great deal faster when it's not rendering print-res images, so you're probably best off working in Standard mode unless you have a monster of a desktop machine, or unless your work requires that you see the high-res image while you're doing other tasks in ID.)

  • EPS and Tiff Files are not open...

    Dear All,
If we open the EPS or Tiff file in Illustrator CS3, we got the error message as in the screenshot which named as “Illustrator screenshot.jpg”.
If we open the EPS or Tiff file in Photoshop CS3, we got the error message as in the screenshot which named as “Photoshop screenshot.jpg”.
We unable to open the file both in Illustrator and Photoshop. Is there any other option to open the file? Please advice.
I’ve attached the images and screenshots for your better reference.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kumaran. P

These files are completely corrupt. I got the same error messages you did in Illustrator and Photoshop.
The EPS files look quite hopeless. (They do not remotely resemble EPS files when viewed in a text editor.) The TIFF file opened in IrfanView. I've resaved it as a JPEG and attached it here. You can see that it's truncated.
You didn't mention how you obtained the files.

  • Need Help With Exporting EPS Files That Will Be Opened In Another Program

I am trying to export some files from Illustrator in EPS format, to be used in another program called "Blufftitler". Their documentation is pretty sparse and doesn't go into much detail. It only mentions the following:
    "Limited support
BluffTitler has limited EPS support. It only imports filled shapes built out of lines and curves from uncompressed, unoptimized EPS files."
No matter what settings I try in Illustrator when exporting the EPS file, it won't open in Blufftitler, and keeps throwing me errors. I tried Choosing "Illustrator 3" as the format, and turning off the preview option. I also tried "expanding" the shape itself several times too. Is there some other way in Illustrator to just export a bare-bones EPS files without any extras or other stuff that might cause problems with other programs?
The funny thing is, when I create EPS files with another program, such as Vector Magic, they work fine in Blufftitler - it just seems to have a problem with EPS files created in Illustrator specifically.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

The main problem is with BluffTitler is it doesn't have a very good eps handler as it can really only import eps files that are about 10k each and are not overly complex. If you look at all the sample .eps files that come with it, each one is about 1 or 2k each. A simple circle in Illustrator, even when saved as v3 without a preview, is around 258k. The reason for the larger file sizes is due to the extra things being saved in the file that aren't even on the page, such as brush presets and graphic styles. The sample .eps files that come with BluffTitler don't have these presets so the files are already smaller.
Something you may want to try is to open up one of the sample eps files and use that file for your vector work but save the file with a new name. I found that by doing this I could get the files down to a much smaller size. You may also want to setup any vectors in Illustrator first, save them, and then open the files in InkScape, http://www.inkscape.org. From what I've read, InkScape can get you fairly small file sizes so it's something you should check out.

  • What adobe program can open, edit and save eps vector files?

I have an engraver that accepts only eps vector drawings.  I need a program that can open zipped eps files so I can view, edit and print those drawings.  I need to leave them as eps drawings to use with my machine.

Freehand can't convert EPS files into editable vectors. I
    usually run
EPS files through Illustrator and then into Frehand. If you
    don't have
Illustrator you can convert the EPS into a PDF and that
    Freehand will
sometimes convert into editable vectors (though it does
    involve a lot
more clean up than going through Illustrator.)

  • What are my options for opening EPS files in Elements 13? What is the best way to convert these to another type of vector file?

I "upgraded" from Photoshop Elements... uh... mad old... to Elements 13 when my work computer got "upgraded" to Win8. Now I can't open EPS files which is how I receive collateral from our ad agency. What other vector files will work, and how can I convert EPS to these? Please be gentle if this is a stupid question - I know enough to be dangerous, but I'm not an expert at design by any means. I'm just frustrated because this isn't quite the "dead" file type that Adobe thinks it is. What was the point of upgrading if I'm pretty much left in the lurch?
Thanks to any and all who can help! Much appreciated . -ASI

What's important to understand is that Elements is a 'pixel' editor, not a 'vector' editor. As such, it has very limited 'vector' capacity (fonts, shapes...) What you are missing from older versions is the ability to convert vector items to standard pixel image file. To be able to open and work on eps files, you'd need Adobe Illustrator, which seems overkill for your purpose.
    So, your options are:
    - to request your ad agency to supply pdf format images instead of eps ones. My guess is that eps is beeing largely superseded by pdf, but I am not sure...
    - Use external tools to convert from eps to jpeg; a Google search would return free softwares like Irfanview or web based conversion.
    - You might want to keep (or reinstall) older Elements versions just for that purpose.

  • IDCS4 preflight errors regarding resolution in .eps files from Illustrator

We have been having real problems with some (but not all) .eps files (both supplied and created in-house) in IDCS4. When viewed in Illustrator, the images are fine, but after the images have been imported into IDCS4, the problems begin. There is nothing obvious that is the same across all the images that IDCS4 has a problem with, apart from gradient fills.
Indesign's Preflight reports that the EPS files are below 300dpi. When we changed the 'display performance' of the images to 'high quality display', we could definately see parts of the image had become pixelated, despite the image being composed entirely of vectors.
We've tried resaving the images as .eps from Illustrator CS2, CS4, etc, and as .AI files, but to no avail. We can only presume that IDCS4 is causing this issue, as having resaved in all these different formats has provided no answers. The images have trasnpanrecy set to high res, the document raster effects settings is set to 300dpi.
This is repeatable on multiple Macs, running OSX 10.4 & 10.5. The only fix I have found is to enlarge Images in Illustrator, and scale them down in IDCS4
    Any ideas anyone?

    **UPDATE**
I have found that If I wrote out the images as .AI files from Illustrator CS2 (Not CS4 or CS4 saving as a CS2 file), the resulting AI file works OK.
This is no real solution though, and .EPS files allow for embedding the fonts and .AI files don't.
Tried creating extremely high-res transparency profiles, etc. Problem persists.
