Export Error -2125

When trying to publish a video that is around 3 hours long and exporting via the Share menu and exporting it as a quicktime file I get the following error. *Unable to prepare project for publishing. The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (-2125)* This is after the hours of it doing things like it is exporting it then at the very end I get this result. Doesn't matter what size I do, it always ends like this. Any thoughts?

Hey AutoBarn,
I faced the same problem while exporting by QuickTime Pro the .mp4 for PS3. I tried to export 30min HD 1920x1080 into .mp4 (H.264/AAC) with bitrate 20000 kbps - firstly from FinalCut Express than directly from QT Pro - all the same - Error 2125. QT Pro estimated the output size about 4,5G and after about 90% of exporting it came to 2125.
I started to play with bitrate: QT succesfully exported the same movie with 10000 kbps (2,15 G of output file) and with 15000 kbps (3,26G).
I have the filling that 4G of output .mp4/H.264/AAC is a problem for QT Pro. I didn’t find the solution, I’m in the way.
By the way - I tried Mpeg Streamclip, Xilisoft Video for the same exporting - they crashed (???!!!)
My best,
TeddyFox

  • Error 2125 while exporting.  Why?

When exporting several very large AVI files to Apple TV format, I'm getting "Error -2125: an unknown error occurred".
Anyone know how to prevent this?

Got the same error with Mac OS 10.5.2. when exporting files over 4 GB.
    Look at this one: http://developer.apple.com/quicktime/icefloe/dispatch022.html
Seems, that there are still 32bit software peaces in QuickTime.

  • Osstatus error -2125 when exporting in iMovie 11

In imove 11, I'm trying to export using Quicktime. The computer works on the export for hours, but always returns a message of "osstatus error -2125".
I've had no luck figuring out what the code means. Does anyone have any clues here?
    Thanks,

    Hi
OK Error code - 2125 usually indicates that the movie is to large.
It use to pop up when going to iDVD !
iDVD - DO NOT CARE ABOUT Gbs at all. I got movies on 500Mb that do not fit and 50Gb that fits nicely.
iDVD - ONLY CARES ABOUT - Duration. Duration is Movie time + MENU TIME. Choice of
menu and animation of this can take lost of "DURATION" 15 minutes or even more.
Choice of encoding method and use of SL or DL DVDs determine the DVD limit.
    iDVD 08 & 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities.
iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST
    • Best Performances (movies + menus less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6) (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
DL DVDs can store about double of these times.
ALTERNATIVE - The Error Code can indicate that free space on Start-up (BOOT) hard disk is
    less than 25Gb (my minimum)

If you are getting OSStatus error -2125, I've seen this caused by the computer display sleep settings.
Try changing the sleep settings to never and see if you are able to export.

  • Canon HG10 - Export Movie Error -2125?

    HI,
My workflow is basically, Plug in camera, import the clips from hdd (which takes ages since it converts from AVCHD to Apple lossless and takes up much more space than the original movie) - I drag and edit the clips to make a small movie then choose export video and set the quicktime options to 720p - it sits there quite happily spending hours rendering the movie and promptly quits with an error code, why does iMovie doe this, and is there any way to actually export from iMovie 08 at least HD content? (after all it DID import HD content....)
    -M

I have the same error. Tried everything. The project is quite large, so I tried to split it in smaller parts and then sharing to external HD via QT or just export movie with default settings as "large". After ~300 minutes (that is, in fact, 5 hours for just one part) of exporting it says that it could not export the movie due to error -2125. That error number should mean something, shouldn't it? Something to give a clue what is wrong (with me apparently)...
And, no, iMovie 06 will not work either, because it does not support that sony camera.

  • IMovie Export using Quicktime in 1080p gives error OSStatus error -2125

Hi, I am new to using iMovie, started using it few days back.  So far i have been unable to "Export using Quicktime" in 1920*1080p option.
I was able to export using "Export to Quicktime" in 640*480p (.mp4 format) option and was able to use "Export Movie" with 1920*1080p (.mov format) option.
Trying to export using "Export using Quicktime" in 1080p always failed so far.  I tried at least a dozen times with different settings.  Initially i was getting the following two errors randomly, but later, the last 4-5 trials i keep getting only the first error.
    1. OSStatus error - 2125
    2. Not enough room in the heap zone.
Project details are - it is a 34 min. video and size came to 5.3GB when exported using "Export Movie" (.mov format) using 1080p option.
It indicates 2 hours to export it, takes 2 hours and interestingly, the OSStats error - 2125 error happens at the end of the export. I can see in the finder the increasing size of the file the process is creating.  It has been a really frustrating experience with iMovie so far.  I even tried duplicating the project with a different name and tried export, did not help.
I have >300GB of free space on my hard drive and 8 GB of RAM.  I don't have any heavy applications running on the system.
I read forums about this error and tried the following so far with no help.
    1. Tried changing names of the iMovie project few times to see if that helps.
    2. Set the sleep settings of the computer as well as monitor to Never.
    3. Reached out to apple support about it and they suggested me to setthe sleep settings to never and then try.  But that did not help.
I am stuck with this error OSStatus error - 2125.
The settings I am trying with are:
    Export to MPEG-4
    H.264 video format
    20Mbps bit rate
    30 fps
One question is, once I exported a project in one format or setting, do I have to create a new project to export it in different settings or I can just use the same project?
Can someone please help?  Any help about this is greatly appreciated.   Thank you.

I am having the same issue. Have been searchin gfor 3 days for an answer. I am able to export as MOV file, but not MP4. I bought QT Pro 7 to convert THE MOV to MP4 and it doesnt work either. I then bought iskysoft Video Converter and it wont convert the MOV to MP4 either. (will convert smaller files)
I have 700 GB of free space on drive. I have tried a movie that is 3 hours, one that is one hour, and one that is 54 minutes..All same thing.. Error -2125. Although it will work with smaller movies under 30 mins.
Surely there has to be an answer to this? It seems it has been an ongoing issue for quite some time, yet there is no solution.

  • I keep getting the following error message while sharing my iMovie to iDVD.  "Unable to prepare project for publishing"  error (-2125).

I keep getting the following error message while sharing my iMovie to iDVD.  "Unable to prepare project for publishing"  error (-2125).  I'm running iMovie 09 v. 8.0.6 on a iMac with OSX v 10.6.8, 2Ghz core duo, 1GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM.  Any ideas why?

That particular error comes up for a number of reasons, sometimes it's the size of the movie you're trying to export. Bengt Wärleby a longtime contributor to the iMovie Discussion Group has advised a number of people on this error code, so I am going to link to his latest advice he's given to anyone trying to export to DVD from iMovie: Bengt's tips for great DVDs.
Specifically, try bypassing Share to iDVD by using Share to Media Browser instead.
In the Share to Media Browser dialog box choose the Large Size.
When(If?) it gets through that process, quit iMovie altogehter then go to iDVD.
Create a new project and click on the Media button near the lower right hand side of the Project Window.
Then click the Movies button in the Browser window just above that.
Under the iMovie star icon you should see the name of the project you shared out from iMovie.
Drag that into the project and burn the DVD.
If it's still to large or you get the same -2125 error code trying to Share using the Medium size instead. But again if you really get stuck consult Bengt Warleby's User tips:

  • What is error -2125, or where can I look it up?

After trying to export a very large project of 3 hours and 38 minutes I got this error twice.
The first time I thought it might have to do with diskspace, but after I moved it to a bigger volume, it stil returned this error.
" Unable to prepare for publsihing, error -2125" something like this.
Not very informative. I am used to error messages that give at least a hint at how to solve the issue...
So, what does this error mean, and how can I solve it?
    Thanks.

All programs (that I've ever used) use various tmp directories and caches on the boot volume to do their work (Kind of like an airport. You may not spend your vacation at the gate waiting for the plane, but you still have to pass through the terminal to get to your destination.) Those files are not the final save location (they get wiped) in your scenario but they still play a big role.
8 GB sounds like a good number although depending on the complexity (HD vs SD) of the footage you are working with, it might need alot more space to decode and re-encode the footage.
In general I try to never let my boot volume get to below 10 GB free. For video work 30 GB would be an even better number.
I've done several searches and can't find an error -2125. Is there any error message text that accompanies this number? Not all error codes are published and sometimes they are just generic codes that offer very little insight into the issue.
As a test try the follow:
__Try exporting a different smaller project -- does it work? If it does then the issue is with your original project. If it doesn't then something may be wrong with iMovie itself and we can discuss that further.
__Try freeing up some space on your boot drive. 30 GB is the number I would shoot for.

  • IMovie OSStatus error -2125

I need some help badly. I am using imovie '09 and I am trying to export a vacation movie to idvd through the "share" pull down menu at the top of the screen. After about 2 hours of of imovie exporting the file it goes through the entire export then gives me an error of OSStatus error -2125. I have no idea what to do here but I really need to finalize this video through idvd. Any info at all would be great;y appreciated!!!!

iDVD requires a fairly large amount of free space to exist on your internal hard drive. You will want to have around 25GB free space or better. Also, try bypassing Share to iDVD by using Share to Media Browser instead.
In the Share to Media Browser dialog box choose the Large Size.
When(If?) it gets through that process, quit iMovie altogehter then go to iDVD.

  • Error -2125 when optimizing in imovie '11

Hi there, ive been looking a lot into others problems and cant seem to find an answer for this error. Another had a similar problem, and he simply had to clear out more space for the file, as i repeated, i found it then sent me this error message while optimizing a video for speed up/down. I cant seem to find a solution, im working with a quicktime file, .mov I tried exporting it as it was, to get a different file type and start again, but it sent me the same error, etc. etc.
If anyone has similar problems/knows solution any feedback would be awesome! thanks a ton.

  • Unable to prepare for publishing error -2125

In Imovie when trying to burn a dvd to idvd... I get Unable to prepare for publishing error -2125.  Can you help please?

The thumb drive is probably formatted as FAT32 (most USB flash drives are formatted as FAT32). There is a 4GB file size limit with any drives formatted as FAT32. Try reformatting the thumb drive as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) using the Mac app Disk Utility (it comes with the OS and should be in the Utilities folder).
Also, are you sure that the 32GB drive is enough space for your exported movie? Try exporting it to your internal drive, or an external portable drive formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Then copy it to the thumb drive, provided that the exported file will fit on it.
Otherwise, you will need to follow Karsten's advice to duplicate the project one or more times, then delete portions from each duplicate so that you end up with a number of separate projects, each with their individual content. Then export each project separately.
To duplicate a project, while in Project Library view (where all your projects are listed), select File > Duplicate Project. Alternatively, right-click (or Control-click) on the project in the Library and select Duplicate Project from the pop-up menu.
If you need assistance with reformatting the thumb drive, please ask.
