Export Error with Garbage Mattes

Hey Everybody!
I've been having an issue with exporting one of my films using FCP.
I had to use a four point garbage matte to block out some unwanted background lights and create a black void around my actors.
It looks great in the FCP viewer (as you can see in the first image), but when I export it to .mov, .mp4, and .avi, the matte stands out. It doesn't blend in to the other black color from the raw video footage (as you may be able to see around the woman in the second image. Zoom in closely and notice the video grain in the black surrounding her).
Is there anything I can do to make sure the video file that's exported is an exact replica of what I see in my FCP viewer?
Thanks!
-Will

Your image that came from the camera has noise in it. Probably caused by a combination of low lighting levels and camera exposure settings
The area covered by the Garbage matte is pure, digital black.
Add a noise reduction filter to the camera image (this will make it slightly softer).
Or... add noise enhancement to the digital black to balance out with the camera footage.

  • Eliminate flicker when exporting file with a matte

I have a short FCP7 sequence with a moving garbage matte.  It looks fine when I play it in the timeline, but when exported to QuickTime there's now a flickering on the matte with each frame.
What do I change in the settings so it looks the same in QuickTime as it does in FCP?

    More info Please:
    • Sequence settings - (command-0)
    • Footage properties - (select a clip, press command-9)

  • Export 8-point Garbage Matte.

I have been using 7toX to transfer old projects in to FCP X recently, and have discovered that the 8-point Garbage Matte effect is no longer included.
That being said, the effect obviously didn't transfer over with the clip.
How can I export only the clip with the matte effect from FCP 7, and import into FCP X, and still retain "transparency"?
    It's a simple project.
Clip on V1, and second clip on V2 with the 8-point matte applied, revealing V1 below.
I have soloed the V2 clip and set In and Out and exported to ProRes 422 quicktime and imported into FCP X, but the background is simply black, and does not retain the transparency.
I am familiar with this process in Photoshop, by starting with a transparent background, but do not know the worflow with FCP.
    Thank you for your help.

Hey, thanks a lot! Did the trick. You learn something new everyday..
Just to clarify, for future reference:
Soloed the clip with matte effect, exported to prores4444 with "millions of colors +", dropped in to FCP X and matte/alpha were intact!

  • Residual hard edges with garbage mattes (v. 5  to 6)

    Hello,
Thanks in advance! (I've searched for the answer and found nothing.)
I have a short film, edited in FCP 5, and I've used garbage mattes all over it. I brought it to a production house in order to create some Digibeta exhibition copies, and when exporting (they are using FCP 6), I noticed the garbage mattes (both 8-point and 4-point) had hard edges on them (although they are all feathered edges in the file). I am very experienced with mattes, and have used them extensively, but have never come across this before. I can't see any of these hard edges on my home system, although I use a large monitor. They also do not show up on the burned dvds I've made, nor when I projected them on to a 9 foot screen recently.
Is there something happening in the conversion from 5 to 6 that could be causing this? The frustrating thing is that I am trying to fix something I cannot actually see at home (and working on it at the production house is ludicrously expensive.) Could it be something they are doing? I need to resolve this soon, as the film is having a premiere in 3 weeks and the festival needs the digibeta!
Please help, and thank you again so much for your time!
    Greg

Something similar is happening with me. I'm using soft edge mattes and dissolving between them on V2. During the dissolve, you can see the edge, even though the edge is masked and feathered on the shot. There are no key frames added. This happens more frequently when I have repositioned the shot. I've tried to re-render all the dissolves and the same thing keeps happening.

  • Problem with garbage Matte 8-point

I filmed a video in one go and did not touch the camera at all. I split the clip and then put one on top of the other to use the eight-point garbage matte effect. The problem is the two clips don't match. There's a small difference in colour and it doesn't look like the two clips are aligned with each other.

ps I am very new to Premiere Pro.
Help is very much appreciated. Thank you.

I have been putting a feature request for that for many cycles now.
But our prayers have been answered.
In CC next: masking and tracking for all effect incl feathering.
    Check out first feature.

  • Exporting error with 7.2

"Failed: Export process terminated unexpectedly [11]" right at the end of the process. I am trying to convert folder of video clips from Apple Video codec to Photo jpeg. It kept screwing up in iView Media Pro batch processing so i switched to Quicktime player and this error gets displayed.

I have a copy of MPEG Streamclip so i just tried it. It worked flawlessly and has a simple no-nonsense batch processing feature. Thanks for pointing me there! At least i can work on in peace.
My unanswered question remains however and i feel it is a serious one. Why can't Quicktime do this any more? I even booted into another partition and used version 7.01 with the same error! I'm hoping it's not hardware.

  • Export error with quicktime x

I have been able to share .avi files to iphone for the last couple of months, however yesterday I started to get an error:
Can’t make file "Macintosh HD:private:var:folders:Px:PxTL-rF1HGe49KtMlkEaG++TI:-Tmp-:file name (iPhone & iPod).m4v" into type alias.
I have reinstalled quicktime and the problem continues.
    Any suggestions?

I've been experiencing this same error intermittently, but it seems to be getting worse/more frequent lately.
Did you (or anyone) ever come across a solution? I see you posted this topic a couple of months ago.
    Thanks in advance.

  • CS3: Garbage Matte is moved after exporting movie?

I hope someone can help me with this problem i'm having in Premiere Pro CS3:
With the 4/8/16 point garbage matte tool i have made a composition of different video-objects. When i export the movie some of these objects are being misplaced from their original position.
What can be the cause of this problem? I have tried exporting the sequence in different ways/qualities but this doesn't seem to help.
    Thanks in advance!

If the garbage matte give you trouble use the titler and draw
your matte with the pentool and use it as a track matte.
There is one advantage to this methode, you can feather the
matte by adding a Fast Blur.

  • Bizarre problem with garbage on movie export

I am having a weird problem with exporting video from an iMovie '08 project.
You can see the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McFnmpuSKGc
About 31 seconds in, the first problematic clip shows up. Do you see how the video from some clips gets shrunk to the lower right corner and the rest of the space is filled with garbage, while other clips display in the full window? This happens no matter which size or type I export/share to. The weird thing is, if I play the (non-exported) project within iMovie, even at full screen, it looks fine.
Knowing nothing about video, my first thought was, "maybe the videos are different sizes, and the ones with garbage around them were at a lower resolution than the videos without garbage around them. However, all of the original videos are from the same camera, and all are at 960x540 resolution, H.264 encoding, and the same bit rate - I checked each file by using Cmd-I in the Finder.
Do any iMovie experts have suggestions on how to fix this? Again, it looks fine when I play the project in iMovie, but it has this problem whenever I export or share it to another format.
    Thanks!

Correct me if I'm wrong. What this lines does (if there isn't a space between the two single-quotes) is removing the string represented by xmlnsVal from the string xmlDoc. I've been using this method in some situations.
But I don't know why it won't work either. However, isn't it necessary to do conversion from CLOB to varchar2 before calling replace? Maybe the implicit conversion isn't so reliable. I've seen someone did the following:
    -- clobvar is CLOB
    -- stringvar is varchar2(4000)
stringvar := cast(clobvar as varchar2(4000));      -- not testedAfter that you can use stringvar in your replace function.
Or alternately, if exists in 9i, you can try the function regexp_replace() instead. Good luck.

  • Error With Export/Print from Crystal Report Viewer

    Hello there,
I've searched through the web and SAP discussion boards with not much luck with this issue.
After working through this for some days now I've decided to look here for help.
    Environment:
I have created a web Crystal Report viewer application(Developed with SBOP BI Platform 4.0 SP06 .NET SDK Runtime) that communicates with a managed Cyrstal Server 2011 SP4 (Product 14.0)
I am able to connect and authenticate with the server, retrieve a token for communication and display reports in the Crystal report Viewer successfully.
    Problem:
When I attempt to export, I receive the prompt to select format and pages.
When I click export after selections most times I receive an error with the text
Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.PropertyBag'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{74EEBC42-6C5D-11D3-9172-00902741EE7C}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)).
Other times the page simply refreshes on export.
When I click to print, no print dialog is displayed the page always refreshes and no error is displayed.
No Print or Export document is ever created.
As many print/export issues seems to be related, I'm guessing this two issues are as well.
    Notes:
I am utilizing the ReportClientDocument model
I am storing this in session to use as the crystal report viewer report source on postbacks
I am assigning a subset of export formats to the crystal report viewer
I am setting particular parameters as well on the report source
At this point I would appreciate every assistance I may receive on this issue

    Thanks Don for your response,
I'm new to the SCN spaces and my content has been moved a couple of times already.
    In response to your questions
The runtime is installed on the web application server, if by that you mean the machine hosting the created .NET SDK application.
My question was whether it was also required on the Crystal Server 2011 (I.E. the main enterprise server with CMS and Report management and I guess RAS and all that). I figured this would remain untouched and queries would simply be made against it to retrieve/view reports e.t.c
If install of the SDK on Crystal Server 2011 is indeed required should I expect any interruption to any of the core services after a restart. I.E. I'm hoping that none of the SDK objects would interfere with the existing server objects (in SAP Business Objects)Reason I ask is I note that much of the SDK install directories are similar to the existing Crystal Enterprise Server 2011 (Product 14.0.0)
Is this temp folder to be manually created/configured or is it created by the application automatically to perform tasks. Or are you referring to the default C:\Windows\Temp directory and so saying that the application would try to use this for print and export tasks?Once I'm sure which I'd give the app pool user permission
Printing is to be client side but I figured by default (with the Crystal Report Viewer) it would simply pool and print from the user's printer. This is how it works with the previously used URL reporting approach (viewrpt.cwr). Therefore a user can print the document from wherever they are with their own printer. We don't intend on printing from the server machine, but are you suggesting that a printer must be installed on server (which one web or enterprise server) for any client side printing to work.
App pool is running in 32 bit mode
Initially didn't get anything useful from fiddler but I'd try and look closer on your suggestion.
It's also possible that some of my questions are a misunderstanding of APP vs RAS vs WEB, so please feel free to clarify. Currently I see the Web server as simply the created .NET SDK Application and RAS (Crystal Server 2011 e.t.c) as the existing fully established Application server which I simply pool for information.
Thank you for your patience and advice,

  • Error "Failed to Export PDF" with big image on CS6 (32) and CC (64)

    Hi everyone,
I'm on indesign CS6 (v8.0.2) and when I try to export pdf with a very big image ( *.tiff, 25000*35000 pixels, ) , the action failed with this message :" Failed to export a PDF".
To be sure that there is no any corrupted elements, I made a very simple layout (one page , and just one element for my image,I turnoff prefilgth and all  ressource intensive options, and export with no downsampling or resampling) and try to export with different size image:with 20000*30000 -or smaller -image the export works, always failed with image .The export failed to in scripting mode.
If I diveded my image in four , the export works but this solution is not convenient (I actually made tests for a fully automatised process, and we want to be sure that the indesign  component is  enough "safe")
I try the same action with an evaluation version of indesign CC 64 bits (v9.2) and have the same behavior.
I can imagine that there is a memory issue there, but my config seems to be strong ( windows server 64 with  16GB ram, DD with more than 100GB free). I don't undersant why-in a "full" 64 bit environnement- it is not possible to manipulate and export very large image ?
I'm wonder If the background task is a part of the problem, and if it 's possible to disable it in CS6 or CC as in cs5 ( creates an  “DisableAsyncExports.txt” file in  Adobe InDesign executable directoty don't seems to disable it  in CC or CS6).
Thank you for your help and good ideas..

  • Error with first attempts at exporting flash

Oh I get it! Yeah no I don't. Anybody familiar?

I called adobe customer support, they are clueless. It is now December (4 months after the first post) This is a linking problem, and the developers are at fault. This is a true bug and not a problem with your computer.
The fix is as follows (windows xp)
Add the environment variable KMP_DUPLICATE_LIB_OK=TRUE to windows to fix it. In other words, do what it says.
    1. On the Desktop, Right click on My computer and choose properties
    2. Go to the Advanced Tab and click on the environment variables button
    3. for the top window (user variables) click New.
    4. In variable name enter KMP_DUPLICATE_LIB_OK (all uppercase and include the underscores)
    5. In the Variable value enter TRUE (all uppercase)
    6. Click ok
    7. Do the same thing for second window (system variables)
    8. You should not need to restart your computer, just restart encore.
If this does not work for you, you either misspelled the variables, or did not capitalize. If it still does not work for you, you may be out of luck.
