Export failure in Keynote into QT–No Accuracy for timings–Software options?

Hi There,
I'm having a horrible time trying to export a presentation made in Keynote 2 into Quicktime. This presentation has audio embedded in the presentaion (not as an object on the slide) and also has quicktime movies (screen movies made with snapzpro) on the slides. (do these qwuicktimes have to be converted to MPEGS?)
No matter which setting I use, it always gives me an error at the end of the export that either my disk is full or there is an error in the file. I have another presentation that has audio on each slide with no quicktimes on slides and the export function works fine (though through the export process the build timings are changed) . If I upgraded will this problem be fixed, it doesn't seem that these issues were addressed in the current version? Is the problem the audio embedded in the presentation itself or the use of quicktime files, should I change the movie format of those files?
The other major roadblock I am having is the inability to accurately set timings. The builds and transition pre-sets can change easily (i.e. if you are plugged into an external monitor or LCD). The QT exports are even more unreliable. It seems that evertime I need to show the presentation I need to reset all timings in the room I am presenting in and based if I'll be plugged in, and even still no guarantees. If I could get it to export properly or at all in QT, I could just present throught there, but I can't.
Am I just using the wrong piece of software for what I want to accomplish? Is there even a presentation software out there with this kind of functionality or do you have to move to apps like Final Cut? I am will be willing to make the investment if I know it will be succesfull.
I'm really at a loss. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I'm having that same error! Have you found an answer for that yet
it always gives me an error at the end of the export that either my disk is full or there is an error in the file.

  • How to export a complex Keynote to high quality video for DVD?

I have had dozens of attempts to turn a complex Keynote into a high quality video.
Either they turn out disappointiingly way low res
or they are very choppy with half the transitions gone
or they Cannot make the video at all
    HELP.
I need to turn this project in to my client today.

If you use the DVD export in Keynote 3 with a self playing movie, the quality will be fine...just don't trust what you see on your mac screen, play it on a DVD player to check the quality. I did a test a while back and it was only the pauses that looked bad.
    Read about it here:
    http://www.keynoteuser.com/news/?p=135
pay close attention to what I complain about...it's just the slide pauses, not the normal motion playback, which means selfplaying stuff looks pretty decent (though never as good as the original, but that's the fault of the DVD format, not Apple).

  • Unable to enter into recovery/DFU mode for updating software

Hi, I bought a new iPhone 4 yesterday and while i was playing with it, I noticed that whenever I opened the camera app the phone crashes. I called apple and they told me to update the software.
When I connected it to itunes and tried to update, it gave me a random error (which i don't remember). I disconnected the phone and tried to reset the "Erase All Content and Settings" from the settings app itself but it was taking a very very long time. So i connected it to the computer again and now it has been stuck on the boot screen for about 2 hours. If i hit the sleep/wake button and the home button together and hold it down it goes into the recovery screen for about 2-3 seconds and then immediately quits and goes back to the boot screen, if i keep holding the two buttons this cycle continues but it never stays on the recovery screen for more than a second or two and hence I am unable to recover my phone.
I don't know what to do, please advise.
    Thanks

  • Keynote '08: How to export an iPhoto slideshow into Keynote

Is it possible to export an iphoto slideshow into keynote?
    Thanks!

Answered my own question! Exported iPhoto slideshow to desktop - where it appeared as a .mov file -- then dragged & dropped that into Keynote. It plays there, photos & music exactly as designed in iPhoto - remote works to start and stop also! Perfect!

  • Any way to import a chart made in keynote into Numbers?

I've built an expense chart in Keynote over the past year and would love to export the chart data from Keynote into the new Numbers so I can really manipuate the data. But haven't found a way yet to pull the data from the keynote chart and place in Numbers.
    Any ideas?

I don't believe you can do what you want. AFAIK, Keynote doesn't support the export of data into for example a CSV file.

  • How to export/convert FCE movies into AVCHD format?

I have read a number of topics addressing similar questions but haven't yet found a satisfactory explanation of why it is not simple to do the opposite of what the Log and Transfer function does when importing AVCHD footage in FCE.
The footage shot by camcorders is heavily compressed (my Sony camcorder generates 24 Mbps -that's BIT, not BYTE, per second- at its highest rate), thanks to their on-board processor (BIONZ in the case of my camera: http://www.sony.com.sg/microsite/dslr/technologies/bionz.html). Yet, when played by hardware (such as the camcorder itself) on a HD-TV, the movies look gorgeous. Hence, this is a perfectly acceptable compression. And it does not take an enormous amount of memory. For instance, a ~10 min sequence encoded at 17Mbps on my camcorder occupies ~2GB.
However, once imported by FCE, each frame is individually extracted for ease of editing, and the size explodes. So exporting the resulting edited movie (in 1080HD) as a QuickTime movie is a recipe for rapid hard drive saturation (and YouTube export failure). I have tried several codecs offered by FCE (H.264, mp4) but the resulting compressed videos are still humongous (North of 5 GB for the example I mentioned).
It would seem that what the BIONZ processor achieves in real-time should be within reach of a modern CPU at a much slower pace (we are used to several hours of rendering, aren't we?). Yet, that is not the case. Is there a good reason for that?
    Thanks for your comments.

    Tom,
I first noticed it when looking at the videos created by FCE (that was the origin of my post) played in QT. Usually I play them at the default size chosen by QT for my screen, which is something like 1400 x whatever.
The problem (in QT) occurs at any viewing size. It is of course less apparent at smaller size, but it's there.
Then having figured out that I would not improve the output, I looked at the sequence in FCE. Looking at the video played in the Canvas, the jagged edges are there. Of course to see them well, it is best to zoom a bit, but they are there at any size.
Having figured this out, I tried to reimport the original footage using Log and Transfer. The window that opens has a preview, and I saw the jagged edges there too (whatever size the preview panel was set to). I could not find any settings that I could play with to avoid this problem.
My naive conclusion is that FCE does not know how to handle 60i footage as "well" as my TV does. I am ready to believe that in reality FCE does a more accurate job of rendering the two fields into a single frame, but as a viewer, I prefer the rendering of my TV. And since both engines have been designed by humans, I would tend to say that the engineers of my Samsung TV had a better grasp of what is a good rendering of a 60i footage than did the engineers at Apple (or elsewhere) who wrote FCE.
Now, I may be missing some basic thing here, and I am ready to learn.
BTW, the jagged edged effect I am seeing is what is shown on the first picture of the wikipedia page you pointed me to.

  • Can't import quicktime movie made from Keynote into iMovie media browser

I've created a file in Keynote, exported it to quicktime and would like to import into iMovie. iMovie keeps giving me this error message: Unknown error: the file could not be imported. Can someone help?

Rarely am I able to solve my own problems, regardless of how much effort. But I did figure this one out, simply by trial and error. *To recap... I have created a sample slide show to use as a test run through Keynote (to get the best builds and transitions), to Quicktime Pro, into iMovie (to marry the features of iMovie with the Keynote slides) then back to Quicktime Pro as a final product.* It was a crash course with all 3 applications, so a huge learning curve for me.
Quicktime Kirk helped me successfully with my first go round with this. But with so many nested compression windows and so many combinations of choices, I eventually forgot which settings had worked correctly to give me the quality resolution that I had achieved the first time.
So I posted several messages asking for some clue where I was going wrong. Kirk did get back to me, but told me that I needed to create my project entirely without iMovie. Very frustrating because I knew I had done it before with iMovie.
After literally hours of analyzing all the working files and duplicating the exact settings I used before, two scenarios were happening. One, the end product had terrible resolution quality (not even close to the first time around). *Or two, when trying to import the first Quicktime file created from Keynote into iMovie, there was an error message saying that the file could not be imported*.
So, I eventually decided to try the following:
    *1. Create Keynote file*
*2. Export to QT with "Full Quality/Large" setting checked, and "Include Transparency" checked.*
*3. Open QT file to check quality. If acceptable, export this QT file as a QT file again using the highest quality settings - preferably ones that match the first export from Keynote to QT.*
*4. Open iMovie file and import this new QT file.*
*5. Do my thing with it.*
*6. Export (Share) iMovie file as a final QT file with "Full Quality" setting checked in the first pop-up compression window.*
This sequence proved to be successful with the same high quality resolution as the very first go round with it. I KNOW, though, that this wasn't the sequence I used the first time because I didn't do step 3.
I am just happy that I got what I needed. Now I can create my full presentation without worrying about the outcome in the end.
*Because I'm on a Mac, and the AIC default is used, my next feat is going to be identifying codec settings that are going to work both on Mac and PC (newer machines AND older machines).*
*So, does anyone have a clue how to do this?*

Is it possible to export from FCP directly into DVD studio pro? If not, what is the preferred file format because my exported quicktime files come up as "incompatible format" when I try to add them into my DVD project. Any help is appreciated.

You need to encode audio as well from Compressor. You'll have 2 files - audio and video.

  • Batch export PNGs from PSDs into same root folder?

I am trying to export a large amount of PSD files to PNG's (png-24 for web and devices) and want to run a batch while still respecting the file/folder organization in place. Is it possible to run a batch action or script to export the PNG's into the original root folder rather than choose a destination for each folder I want to export?
    For example, I have several PSDs in folders A, B & C.
So far, I have been running an action including Export, choosing A as the destination for the A psd's, then doing the same for B and C separately.
Is it possible to run one batch on A, B & C at the same time and keep the resulting PNG's in the original PSD's root folder respectively in CS5? I am pretty familiar with working in Actions in Photoshop, but don't know much about additional scripting in or out of the program.
    Thanks!

Download the CS5 version of Image Process Pro from http://www.russellbrown.com/scripts.html
It has a option to maintain the folder structure.

  • Exporting links from Photoshop into a PDF (Rich Content PDF?)

    Hi there,
I built my resume in Photoshop and typically I've been exporting to a PDF and then handling link creation within Adobe Acrobat itself. I'm wondering if there's a way to streamline this process such that links can be created within Photoshop and exported directly into the PDF file. This would save me the hassle of recreating links in Acrobat every time I modified the resume in Photoshop.
I've read about a Rich Content PDF extension/extra that is typically located in the Extras folder. I was able to successfully locate it and have Photoshop use it, but I don't know how to get links to actually be recognized by this plugin. My original hypothesis was to use slices (designating a region as a slice and then assigning it a link), but the Rich Content PDF export option did not recognize links through slices. Is there another way to do this or another way to create links in Photoshop such that it can be exported to a PDF (either through this plugin or otherwise)?
    Thanks!

And what program would you recommend?
In addition, the resume is already created in the program I'm comfortable with - I'm certainly not opposed to picking up a new tool and learning how to use it, but my question specifically was simply asking if there was a way to export links from Photoshop into a PDF as that would be the most time-efficient.
