Export file save location
Hi Guys,
I want to know where exactly the export file gets saved.
I have created a sample application on my personal system. It is ASO cube , i exported the application but i am not able to locate the file on the system. I would also like to know if the file saved will in which format.
I am just learning the Essbase , so any help would be great.
regards
Ram
Hi Ram,
1- Enter the name of the export file. By default, the export file is given a .txt file extension. If you want to append a different extension to the file, enclose it in single quotation marks. Do not enclose the file name in double quotation marks.
2- By default, Export file is stored in the application directory (ARBORPATH\app). If you want to store the export file in a different location, specify the full path for the location.
3- To export data in parallel, specify a comma-separated list of export files. The number of threads used depends on the number of file names you specify.
Hope it answers you.

File Save Location Enhancement
I've been looking through forum posts and feature requests relating to file save behaviour and default file locations and reached the conclusion that either they weren't specific enough or were part of some larger scheme I didn't agree with. So I've posted a new feature request which would provide my preferred behaviour and, from what I understand of other posts and requests, is flexible enough to be configured to meet those of others.
By default they go to your "Downloads/ My Downloads" system folder. Anything beyond that we cannot know if you changed soemthing...

Print Adobe PDF: Choose file save location
Currently, when I select Print, then select Printer: Adobe PDF 9.0, and press Print, the PDF file is saved to my Desktop. Where is the preference setting to save the PDF file somewhere of my choosing?
Thanks Lady Designer, your method works. However, it's too many steps for what I'll need to do. I have approximately 200 e-mail messages to print to file. It'd be much faster to select a message, Command+P, Enter, and continue with the next message. Your method requires the additional steps of clicking on the PDF button and selecting Save As PDF.
You're probably thinking, "Why doesn't he just select all the messages and print once?" I tried that.
When I choose to the PDF button and Save As PDF, no matter how many multiple messages I choose, only one of the messages turns into a PDF file. The other messages, despite being (apparently) processed, do not become PDF files. In fact, they become nothing; I know what happens to them.
When I choose to print using Adobe PDF 9.0 as my printer, I'm not given the opportunity to select a destination for multiple files; they automatically print to the Desktop. All the messages, however, do become PDF files.
Unless there's a way to select a file destination to which the Adobe PDF 9.0 printer can default, my choices are to either print-to-file each message one at a time; or print all the messages at once with the one method that works, but that will flood my Desktop with a couple hundred file icons. Although the mess lasts as long as it would take to gather the files into a new folder, I prefer to save myself the trouble. -
1st Why is Itunes creating so many temp files?
2nd Can I change where Itunes saves these file? They are saving on "my music" folder which is part of our server, wasting valuable space. If I have to have these files I would like to save them to my C: drive where my music is actually stored. The right side column "More like this" leads to some discussions with temp-file problems. For instance here an useful answer: https://discussions.apple.com/message/12995935#12995935 and here https://discussions.apple.com/message/6162742#6162742
It seems iTunes has problems to write to the correct file (.itl) and creates temp-files. The fix would be to "unblock"/enable the writing process again, so you don't get any temp-files and don't need to store them someplace else. -
Has Adobe Reader XI solved the File Save As Location issue
Hi, As has been mentioned on a few threads, Adobe Reader X did not remember the last File Save Location. And this causes a bit of angst amongst my users. Can anyone tell me if this has been fixed in XI. I don't have permision to downlaod and install to try it at work.
"Save as" doesn't have a default location. The base protocol for "Save as" enables a "browse" window by default in most ANY application.
"Save" will save the file in its original location, but there is no preference for "Saving as". -

Our home directories (My Documents) are network mapped drives.
I have tried the usual uninstall/reboot/install methods, each with the same problem.
Is there a config file/registry entry where I could set a default file save location?
Does anyone have any idea why it might be doing this? Even better, someone with a fix would be great!
Many thanks,
Chris.Has it to do with networked mapped drives?
Not in my case. But,
Time consuming googling and much trial and error and irritations offered a working solution in this case.I suppose this is included the price and goes with the delivery.
It was on some thread on PRE version 8 or something, where on the same problem someone suggested to create a new account and start PRE.
Remarkably, among dozens of other well-meant, but not working solutions, this one worked:
- Create a new account - any name (for safety's sake with administrative rights)
- Logg off and log on with the new account
- Start up PRE
- Choose New Project
This time default location was not grayed out: it showed: C:\Users\newaccountname\AppData\roaming....
Moreover: clicking the browse button to save the project on a different directory or partition did not result in te 'serious error' message, as did before.
So I saved the project in a new created directory on a different partition and changed the drive-preferences also to this directory. (hoping the problem was solved when I log in with my original account).
So:
- create an new directory for the PRE project somewhere else (not in 'users')
- browse to save the new project in this directory
- change the preferences (edit>prefereneces>media+workdisk) so that all the locations refer to the directory of the newly created project (later to be changed if necessary)
- close PRE
But the next step to log off, log in on my first original account and start up PRE again resulted in the same error as before.
However, the saved project of my newly created account was still there in the directory I saved it in (extension: .prel).
So I tried to open PRE by clicking on this file with the extension .prel. PRE opened with no problem.
So:
- log off and log in with the original account
- search for the new project file (extension .prel) and open PRE by clicking on the new project file.
Then I saved the project again in the same directory, started up PRE and choosed New Project. This time the default location was not grayed out;
it showed the directory from where I started up PRE with the file .prel. The browse button (to safe to a different location) worked.
Then I erased the newly created account completely, logged off and in and started PRE from startmenu>programs. No problems.
Finally:
- save the the project again and close PRE
- erase the newly created account(with account managament + manually delete directory \users\newaccountname
- log off and log in on the original account
- open PRE from startmenu>programs
It is hardly to imagine, since this problem exists since PRE8 or earlier, this amateuristic way of installing PRE is part of the deal. Nor any solution has been suggested by Adobe since then, nor apparently taken into account in their new versions/updates.
Disappointing. -

Pre-configure save location for converting files to PDF from shell context menu
Hi all,
I like Acrobat's integration into the Windows Explorer through the shell context menu command "Convert to PDF", which allows me to drag select a number of files (word documents et cetera) to batch convert them into PDF. It beats doing batch processing fr the Acrobat interface.
However, it asks me for the save location of each file individually. I would like to have them saved in the same directory as the original file, as the default option so I won't have to attend to the conversion. I can't find such an option in Acrobat's preferences menu though
Any gurus or users here know of a way around that?
Regards,
JayDoes your user have custom add-ons besides the Acrobat PDFMaker add-on? If so, try disabling the other add-ons as a test to see if you get the same results.
Does your user have a custom template? Try moving it out and using the standard MS Word template as test?
Did your user have a previous installation of Adobe Acrobat?? If so, check the Add-ons to see if an older version is still registered with MS Word. -
Save as/Save does not point to file open location for the file
Hi,
Working with large number of files it's imperative that I can rely on the software's ability to know where open files are located on disk, so that when needed I can save all open files to their original locations. Unfortunately CS6 wil save all open files to the location of the last saved file!
Even after a power out, or CS6 crash, all the recovered files will point to the directory last document was saved to!!
This means that if I have 10 open files from 10 different folders, they will all be saved to one folder, in which maximum one of the 10 files have been opened from and I will not know where they are if I follow their original file location (e.g from Lightroom import from camera).
This generates a very time consuming manual workaround, in which I must file-by-file open the correct folder in Save as dialogue.
Using "Save As to Original Foder" has no meaning selected or de-selected.
I don't know of any other software that suppresses original file location in save/save as...
How do I disable this unproductive and illogical malfunction?
MortenOkay, doing what you outlined, I'm getting the same result. It's acting like the file you open is a new file that hasn't been saved, and that always defaults to the last saved location. I'm not saying it should be like this, but I think it is default behavior. Only advice I can offer is to put in a feature request:

File save vs. File export
What is the main difference between these 2 options? I am having this issue...open movie in quicktime, select view > half size, then file > save.
I then load the movie into premiere for editing and it comes in half size. Premiere thinks the movie is half size. However, if I do view > half size, then file > export and then bring it into premiere, it is the correct full size.
At first I thought it was premiere, but i'm starting to think that there is some real difference in file > save as apposed to file > export. Can anyone duplicate this problem or know exactly why this happens?

QuickTimePro - Export vs Save - Different File sizes
Hi,
with the trim to selection command I selected a bigger part of an AVI-video (Video track format: MPEG-4 DivX v.5 + Audio: Mpeg-1 layer 3 (mp3)).
Although I did not change the video or audio settings I got different file sizes:
The exported video has double the size than the saved file.
Therfore my questions:
What is the reason?
What should I prefer - export or save - trying to get smaller files with the same quality?
Thanks for a tip.Greetings from the heart of Germany

I think you are seeing a general housecleaning of things that
were formerly in your library. For example, lets say you took a
fairly large project. Perhaps 80 slides. Then you delete 60 slides.
This would leave many items in the library. They would be there,
but be unused. So you save as, and after a couple of times of doing
this, the unused objects are purged from the file. This is why you
are seeing a difference in size.
Sincerely... Rick -
After purchasing the Export PDF Online software when I attempt to perform a "File/Save As" when viewing a document on the web it locks up windows explorer. I receive "FIle Save As - Not Responding"
I think you may be correct. It is coincidental with my upgrade to Adobe Reader 11.0.10.
I have installed IE 11 (11.0.9600.17690)
It may be an Adobe Reader problem in that the "tools/file save as" dialog is completely empty. No local directories are displayed for saving to. When I try to Close(X) the "File Save As" box it pops up a message box on top that says "Adobe Reader is not Responding" It locks up all of my IE windows, not just the one with the PDF doc.
I need to go go Task Manager and stop the IE task. All my browser windows are then closed.
That is the only way to recover from the "Adobe Reader is Not Responding" message. -
Wish: File::Save As instead of Export
I wished Apple would improve the usability of the entire iWork'08 suite by elminating the File::Export menu item and instead put a combo box containing all available formats in the File::Save As dialog. File::Export doesn't even have a keyboard shortcut. What do you guys think?
-tomI guess it's just something we'll have to agree to disagree on. I know you like Pages for what it is & don't want/insist that it be Word, but I've seen so many posts where it seems that is what the user wants.
I've always said it is a good idea to save a document in the native format of the program you're working with & save as/export to the other file type so that if anything goes wrong in the exporting process you have the original to fall back on. There have been a lot of posts recently from those who have had Pages crash or get an error when exporting as Word. If they don't have a saved copy of the document in Pages format, they could be "up a creek without a paddle." -
I noticed that downloads start before I select a save location. Where are these files stored?
Firefox starts a download immediately in the background to the OS %temp% folder.
