Export files to jpeg

Hello,
I would like to try and automate as much as possible export images to a jpeg format. At the moment I have a couple of requirements. One is to export to specific size for group presentation. The other is for output to social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter etc.
For both options the images will be either in square, portrait or landscape format. For the group presentation the images have to be with in the limits of a projector which is 1400px/1050px. In other words landscape has a max. width of 1400px and height of 1050px. The portrait has a max. height of 1050px. The square format is 1050px by 1050px. Can these all be done in one export or will they need to be separated out?
I'm not sure about social media format requirements for sizes? Are there standards for this?
Any help or advice you can give would be appreciated.
Gary

As far as I know, different sizes requires different exports. You could set up a an export preset which allows you to save the sizes, so for example you could have a 1400x1050 export preset, another one that is the "square" preset, and so on.
I don't think in general there are aspect ratio requirements for social media (except that Instagram always uses square photos), but there may be a maximum pixel size, and I'm pretty sure if your max pixels size is 1400 on one edge, then you aren't going to have a problem.

  • When exporting NEF files to JPEGs, LR says the files 'cannot be found'. What do I do? I have not moved or altered the originals.

    I'm attempting to create a slideshow for our 8th Grade Open House tonight and the files, which I shot in raw format, are not exporting properly into JPEGs via the Export button in Library. Every time I try, Lightroom says the files cannot be found. I've heard that many people have had issues with this because they have moved or altered the original files? As far as I know, I have not renamed and changed anything. Does it help to know that I first imported these raw photos from my camera reader onto an external hard drive? ...and yes, my external hard drive is plugged into my computer...

    If you click on the Photos that Failed to Export collection at the top right does the photo it highlight have a missing indicator?
    If you do a test export with just one photo, to your internal drive, does it work?
    I adjusted the height of the thumbnails. Still no exclamation points or question marks as noted here.
    Also, as to your second question, unfortunately no as noted here.
    And as to your last question, I have tried several times to export them to my desktop (which would be on my internal drive, not external). I've even gone so far as to put a copy folder of my original NEF files onto my desktop (7 gb worth) to see if that would help me export...it didn't.

  • Export a raw file to jpeg losses lens information

    When I export a raw file to jpeg it losses the lens information.

    Ernie,
    I have never paid attention to those tags on exported JPGs before, but I have recreated the scenario you described.  I have a Canon XTi, and my CR2 master files have about 12 more EXIF tags than the JPG versions.  Excluded in the JPG is the lens model.
    However, the lens information for my camera is Canon proprietary tags.  That is, the general EXIF lens tags are not populated by my camera, so I would not expect them to be translated to regular EXIF tags by Aperture in a JPG.  I.e., I don't think Aperture will take metadata from one proprietary tag and put it in the place of another standard tag.  I suspect that is the same is true in your case.

  • Exporting full size Jpegs from DNG converted files

    Hi there
    I imported some RAW files into Lightroom 4, which I then copied/converted to DNG, then edited them. I now want to export them as full size, high-quality jpegs but I only seem to be able to export them at a maximum of about 800kb, which is far lower than full-size. Is this to do with first the conversion to DNG from RAW on the import? Am I best copying them from raw and not converting them to DNG at all? Next question is, will I have to import the original RAWs again and re-edit them to be able to export as full-size high quality jpegs or is there some way to not have to do them again? Many thanks, Sophie

    The curious thing is that when I try to export full size jpegs through the email function,
    Do you mean exporting through the e-mail the EXACT SAME photos that you were discussing above?
    Have you done any cropping of the photos? What is the size, in pixels, of one of these photos according to Lightroom? What is the size, in pixels, of the corresponding exported photo, according to your operating system?
    Can you show us screen captures of the export dialog box?
    At this time, I am not going to deal with the print at A4 size being pixelated, as printing introduces a lot of other places where something can go wrong. To see if the problem is in the export, I want to know if you look at the exported photo outside of Lightroom, does it appear pixelated or not?

  • Exporting document as jpeg using kAIExportDocumentAction creating html file also

    hi,
    I used this action (kAIExportDocumentAction) to export the document as jpeg.And it is  creating a html file aslo.
    And also it not prompt the "JPEG Option" dialogbox. When I set the kDialogOff to kDialogON it shows first the" Export Dialog" .
    is there any way to get only "Jpeg Option" dialog box while exporting through this action?
    plz Help!!!
    here are the code ....
    ai::FilePath filePath(ai::UnicodeString("C:\\Documents and Settings\\rudreshp\\Desktop\\Export\\rudresh\\hi.jpeg"));
    AIActionParamValueRef actionParam;
    //create a new action param value.
    sAIActionManager->AINewActionParamValue(&actionParam);
    //include the path where to save
    error = sAIActionManager->AIActionSetStringUS(actionParam, kAIExportDocumentNameKey, filePath.GetFullPath() );
    error = sAIActionManager->AIActionSetString(actionParam, kAIExportDocumentFormatKey, "JPEG file format");
    error = sAIActionManager->AIActionSetString(actionParam, kAIExportDocumentExtensionKey, "jpg");
    error = sAIActionManager->AIActionSetBoolean(actionParam, kAIExportDocumentSaveMultipleArtboardsKey, false);
    error = sAIActionManager->PlayActionEvent(kAIExportDocumentAction,  kDialogOff,  actionParam);
    //delete the actionParam
    error = sAIActionManager->AIDeleteActionParamValue(actionParam);

    The export document action is an action for exporting the doument as you have seen, it is not a Export Jpeg action.
    So, no it is not possible with the export action.

  • How do i export a single jpeg frame from a video file in final cut x

    how do i export a single jpeg frame from a video file in final cut x

    You can also use the 3 finger method of COMMAND+SHIFT+4, then drag across what you want to copy from the image. That will show up on your desktop, which then you can edit using Photoshop, if you want too.
    You can then change the file format from a PNG to either a .JPG or TIFF or even a Photoshop image.
    Make sure, you have stopped the playback, to what you want to save as a still.
    Either method works, to make a still image from video.

  • Should JPEG 2000 be an Exportable File Format Option?

    I have been keeping up with the Library of Congress' efforts in the "Sustainability of Digital Formats Planning for Library of Congress Collections." In essence, TIFF is their first choice, with JPEG 2000 a close second. Here is the link to a short summary of their recommendations.
    I like JPEG 2000, but like everybody else I never use it. When I burn a DVD to share with someone, I make a "hi-res" folder of TIFFs, and a "lo-res" folder of JPEGs. It isn't difficult to add JPEG 2000 as an exportable file format, as it is an ISO standard if I understand the spec correctly. In any event, if JPEG 2000 is a close second on the list at the Library of Congress, then we shouldn't take this lightly as they are the largest library in the world, in addition to being the single most important entity for handing our digital imaging rights which should be in the interest of all Aperture users.
    Given this information, would you support adding JPEG 2000 as an exportable file format in Aperture 3?

    Click on the word Aperture in the menubar, and choose Provide Aperture Feedback.

    Btw, quoting from Wiki, which leaves me uncertain as to why I would ever use, even from Photoshop:
    "While there is a modest increase in compression performance of JPEG 2000 compared to JPEG, the main advantage offered by JPEG 2000 is the significant flexibility of the codestream. The codestream obtained after compression of an image with JPEG 2000 is scalable in nature, meaning that it can be decoded in a number of ways; for instance, by truncating the codestream at any point, one may obtain a representation of the image at a lower resolution, or signal-to-noise ratio – see scalable compression. By ordering the codestream in various ways, applications can achieve significant performance increases. However, as a consequence of this flexibility, JPEG 2000 requires encoders/decoders that are complex and computationally demanding. Another difference, in comparison with JPEG, is in terms of visual artifacts: JPEG 2000 produces ringing artifacts, manifested as blur and rings near edges in the image, while JPEG produces ringing artifacts and 'blocking' artifacts, due to its 8×8 blocks."

  • Exporting CS4 files to JPEG

    Hi,
    I'm a newbie to CS4 and am having terrible difficulties in trying to export some of my images to JPEG.  I've recently upgraged my camera to a Canon 5D mark 2 as well as converted to the Mac and CS4.  With all this change I've suddenly found that when I open some of my newer files in photoshop, I no longer have the option to save or export them to JPEG.  I'm offered a choice of PSD, PNG, TIF & PDF but no JPEG.
    Does anybody have any suggestions?  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    The images are likely 16 bit. If that's not it, please post followups in the Photoshop forum.

  • Help with exporting file for print

    Hello,
    I'm trying to print a banner through Spoonflower (a site that lets you print on fabric). They recommend an RGB, 150dpi file. (max 58" wide x 288" long, 40MB) and accept a wide variety of file types (ai, svg, eps, tif, png, jpeg).
    My banner is rather large, at 50" wide x 236" long. The artwork was created in Illustrator, and consists of 2 colors with flat, line illustrations; no gradients, linked files, etc. File is about 1 MB. Because of Illustrator's canvas size limitations (227.5"), I set up my final artwork at half size (25" x 118" @ 300dpi) with the intention of scaling it in Photoshop to full size @ 150dpi.
    Unfortunately, when I try to open the AI, EPS or PDF file directly in Photoshop, it compresses the artwork to 22.6" x 106.67" (from 25" x 118" - no idea why) and this throws off the layout of the banner, which is designed to fit a very specific framework. It means my artwork, when at 150dpi, is only 45" wide (I need it to be 50").
    Next I tried exporting as a jpeg but keep getting the following error: 'The file could not be written due to error.'
    When trying to export to PNG, I get this error: 'Could not complete the operation. The rasterized imag exceeded the maximum bounds for saving to the PNG format'.
    I am at a total loss for how to proceed and would be so terribly appreciative if anyone could provide some insight...perhaps how to prevent the files from shrinking when rasterized by PS, how to actually save as a jpeg, png, or just a better way to go about this whole process altogether. What am I missing??
    And of course, I needed to send this to the printer today to meet deadline...sigh.

    If the site accepts .ai or .eps files why are you trying to move to a raster format at all?

  • Lightroom 5 cannot export files in original Raw format (LR 5.4, Mac, OS 10.9.4).

    A client has the following problem: When trying to export files in the original Raw format (.CR2), the operation failed and a dialog informs us that "Some export operations were not performed". We can export JPEGs just fine.
    After lots of testing, this is what we discovered:  The problem does not appear to be catalog-based; we run into the same problem using a test catalog.  The export operation works fine, however, with the same test catalog and images on two other machines, and it even works fine on the same machine with a new user admin account that we created.
    So it appears to be something associated with the user account, , or with how LR is interacting with the user account, but I cannot figure out what it might be. We can copy the Raw files when using the Finder to do so. But not via Lightroom.  Any thoughts, ideas of suggestion would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks, Sean

    As part of your testing make sure you've tried exporting JPGs from the same folder as the CR2s you're exporting as original, and export JPGs from CR2s to the same folder as you're exporting your originals.  This would test LR's read and write permissions from and to the folders being used.
    From this document you can see that all the LR files other than the program, are under the /Users folder with different values possible for each user, so the difference could be that the users that work are using the original LR defaults, if you have just started using LR with them after you started having this problem, or at least that the user with the problem has some oddball settings that are interfering with Export as Original.
    Preference and other file locations in Lightroom 5
    You can test for the Preferences being off by either copying the preferences from a user that has the problem to a user that doesn't have the problem--probably through an external or common folder, or be deleting the preferences file from the user that has the problem and see if it resolves.  Moving the preferences file or renaming it may be better than deleting it if no change is seen, then you can restore the preferences back by moving or renaming the file back to the original location and name.

  • "low memory" in exporting to progressive JPEG

    hi, anyone knows how to deal with "low memory" or "low virtual memory" error when export file to progressive JPEG?  it happens when file is from a few mb to 30 mb. if file is only under 1mb will be ok.  I got pretty new pc: xp pro with dualcore 2.6 ghz and 4 gb ram, but it can not export 10 mb indd file to progressive JPEG. i did adjust page file to max 20000mb. but does not work.  thanks for help.

    it's only working a few times after  computer got fresh start or restart,  then"low memory" msg up again and can not to export progressive jpeg as 300 resolution.  anyone has ever experienced this issue?  is it possible that RAM type does not match with motherboard?

  • How to set "embed icc Profile" option  to export document as JPEG

    Hi All,
    While exporting the document as jpeg, through File->Export, there is an option "Embed ICC Profile" as figure shows.
    How to set it if I am exporting the document through my program in which I rasterize the document and used
    the sAIImage->AsJPEG(raster, jpegDataFilter, params);
    I didn't find any option in AIRasterizeSettings or AIImageOptJPEGParams to set this flag.
    plz anyone suggest me how to do so.
    Thanks,
    Rud.

    thanks for you through out help.
    I use the folowing code which executing properly,but there is no effect on JPEG whether the value of jpegparam.s.jpeg.embedICCProfile is 0 or 1.
    /////Start
    ASOptimizationSettings jpegparam;
    jpegparam.fileFormat = asffJPEG;
    jpegparam.s.jpeg.embedICCProfile = isICCProfileEmbeded;
    ASInt32 optID;
    optID = sAIOptSet->GetUniqueOptimizationSettingsID();
    error = sAIOptSet->SetOptimizationSettings(optID, &jpegparam); // after executing this line error = 0
    /////End
    I guess it would  work when we export document as jpeg through AIActionManagerSuite
    not with  rasterizing the layer's art and then exporting them as JPEG  using AsJPEG().
    thanks

  • Bridge is opening all of my RAW files as jpegs when I import them from iPhoto

    I have set my iPhoto preferences to send my RAW photos as RAW when using an external editor. If I only use ACR, this works fine, but if I want to use CS4 they are all coming over as jpegs and I then have to work w them as jpegs. I have PSE 8 . Do I have to do something before I open CS4 to have them come over in RAW format?

    Not Very familiar with iPhoto but I think you do confuse two approaches for
    your files. If you choose to work from iPhoto it takes the originals but
    when using Bridge it might be an exported version in jpeg.
    If you have PSE 8 with Bridge CS4 I would suggest you make a choice in
    workflow and use Bridge as starting point. You can import your Raw files in
    Bridge using Photodownloader (get photo's from Camera in Bridge) preferable
    use a card reader for this.
    And/or copy the older original Raw files to a new folder.
    You can find the originals that have been imported using iPhoto in the
    picture folder/iphoto library. Click on the icon and with right mouse click
    choose show package content. In this new window you will see a file called
    originals with subfolders. Inhere find the ones you want and copy them to a
    new folder from your choice (either in the picture folder or elsewhere, but
    obvious not in the package window for iPhoto, you won't see them after you
    closed the package content window...)
    Choose copy because in this way your iPhoto library and folder structure
    stays as it is.
    Now point Bridge to the folder with this copied files and let it cache the
    files first (takes some time).
    With this workflow you can manage your Raw files (rate, rename, adding
    metadata and keywords etc.) and develop them in ACR and PSE. If you do want
    to use the album structure from iPhoto you can choose to save your developed
    files either as jpeg or tiff and place them in iPhoto.
    It might be a better workaround because iPhoto is not the best application
    to handle and develop Raw files, you have a lot more options in Bridge and
    PSE
    I have set my iPhoto preferences to send my RAW photos as RAW when using an
    external editor. If I only use ACR, this works fine, but if I want to use CS4
    they are all coming over as jpegs and I then have to work w them as jpegs. I
    have PSE 8 . Do I have to do something before I open CS4 to have them come
    over in RAW format?
