Export Final Cut XML - All clips missing in timeline

Dear All
I'm trying to export a sequence from Premiere to import in Final Cut Pro.
When importing in Final Cut, no clips are present in the Audio tracks and the timeline is only 12 minutes long - it's supposed to be 50 minutes long. I've checked that the whole timeline is selected in the work area bar in Premiere. The media in the project is offline BTW.
I've used this method many times before without any issues, and can't figure out what's different with this project.
Best regards, Christian

Tom...thank you so much...I opened both the time machine and my finder at the same time. I deleted the old folder by moving it to trash then moved the time machine backup folder to the same place. I double clicked CurrentVersion in its restored state and VOILA, My Movie reappeared. There was a LOT of time involved in this. Thank you so much and may the Good Lord continue to bless you...

  • Exported Final Cut XML from Imovie09 causes loss of Audio Sync

I have recently upgraded to ILife09 and tried a process that always worked in ILife08 but now get Audio Sync problems.
I have created an Imovie project that is 2hours and 50 mins long and wanted to export it to Final Cut Express as XML. This used to work 100% with Imovie08. However, with this latest version of Imovie, when exported to Final Cut Express, the first 45 mins of the XML movie is well out of sync (Audio / Visual).
    Has anyone experienced this?

    Hi Roberic,
there is a bug in iMovie '09 that causes loss of audio sync when you use custom slow/fast motion. This has been experienced by many users. See for example this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9152271
I don't know if this applies to exports to .xml but it could well be that your problem lies here. There are some workarounds, being the easiest one to only use what the slow motion slider snaps to instead of entering custom speed percentages.

  • Import iMOVIE with sound? Export Final Cut Project to Pro Tools?

I am considering the 30 day free trial for Final Cut Pro X. I have a new Macbook Lion laptop.
I made a short film in iMOVIE 09 on my new laptop. I am getting it professionally scored next week. Can I seamlessly transfer iMOVIE project into Final Cut Pro X so that it keeps all my audio tracks? For example, I have natural background sound on many video clips. I have also added "monster" sound effects all over the place. I have voiceover here and there as well. So I am wondering if I import iMOVIE project to Final Cut Pro X are all the sounds merged (I don't want this) or does the project appear in Final Cut Pro X just like it does in my iMOVIE (video clip with a few audio clips under it)?
Second question - The audio post company would need to export the project from Final Cut Pro X to a software program called Pro Tools. There are a whole bunch of "preferences" needed to be checked off to make sure they get project the way it should be. However, my question is does anyone know if Final Cut Pro X is compatible with Pro Tools Software?
FYI - if I don't do the above I was told I need to make 8-9 copies of DVD of movie in iMOVIE. One would be video with natural sound when I filmed and all other sound turned off. Another DVD would be just voiceover sound and all other sound turned off etc... The audio post company needs each sound isolated so they can manipulate audio levels etc. This sounds like pain in butt which is why I am attempting to see if I can do the above.
    Thanks, Todd

Thank you all for help. Spoke to engineer at audio post company. I told him it sounds like that I can export iMOVIE project to Final Cut Pro X and keep audio tracks. However, I cannot export Final Cut Pro X project to Pro Tools. Hence, no point in moving iMOVIE project to Final Cut Pro X.
The engineer told me to make Quicktime files of the 4 minute movie with each different audio track. He said as long as the track does not overlap I can have multiple sounds... for example, if my voiceover occurs from 0 sec. to 30 sec and that is only sound then I can keep in a monster sound that occurs from 1 minute to 1 minute 30 sec. etc.
I did forget to ask him one question. One filmmaker noticed that I had stereo monster sounds and mono monster sounds. I would think most people would not notice difference but the filmmaker did. Not sure if this company can fix something like that?
Thanks again for all your help. The thing that is weird about all of this is if I buy the latest and greatest Final Cut Pro X and make my next project from scratch with it I still won;t be able to export using Pro Tools... Sounds like Pro Tools only works with Final Cut.

  • Greetings, I am working in Final Cut Pro 7. In the timeline some clips show as offline. I tried going to sequence and reconnecting to media but it does not work. I can still see the video in the timeline and work with it. It just has the red box.

If the clips are not actually missing, you could try to refresh the timeline by using cmd-0 and then going to the timeline options tab. Then select name only where it says "thumbnail display". Press ok to accept the change, then repeat the process to add thumbnails back to your timeline.

  • Is it possible to export Final Cut Pro X or .MOV to DVD Studio Pro (Final Cut Studio)?

Is it possible to export Final Cut Pro X projects or .MOV to DVD Studio Pro (from Final Cut Studio v.3)? I'm using the free trial of Final Cut Pro X and later acquired a copy of Final Cut Studio (FCP 7, Compressor 3.5, DVD Studio Pro 4, Color 1.5, Motion 4, Soundtrack Pro 2).
I don't like the default DVD export in FCPX, so I would like to do it on DVD Studio Pro. Is it possible to export the project or the final .MOV file to DVD Studio Pro?
Additionally, can I use unfinished FCPX projects on FCP7?
Is it possible to export from FCPX to Compressor 3.5 (Final Cut Studio)?
Feedback would be greatly appreciated. As of this post, I have about 13 days left on my FCPX trial. Or would it just make sense to just use Final Cut Pro 7, since I have a permanent copy of it?
    Thank you.
P.S. Where would be the best place to store projects or any other file related to Final Cut Studio or Final Cut Pro X? My MacBook Pro has 320GB built in storage (only 60GB available), and I have a 1TB external hard drive.
What is best to store on the Macintosh internal hard drive?
What is best to store on the external hard drive?

Yes you can make DVDs in DVDSP using video exported from FCPX.
There are some apps that will translate between X and 7- that said I would highly recommend not going back and forth as the translations are not 1:1 perfect.
I would recommend storing all Events and Projects on the External drive.
Compressor 3.5 will not accept exports directly from FCPX- you'll need Compressor 4 which is $49.
Totally up to you whether you want to make the jump to X. 7 is an EOL'ed program, meaning there will not be another version of that application. Final Cut Pro X is the version being actively developed now.

My Final Cut Projects folder were missing some files, I went to my time machine backup to restore and it said I don't have permission to access the time machine folder "Final Cut Projects". Why?

Yes, I've done all "the ususal suspects.." repaired permissions, zapped pram, "reintroduced Time Machine to the backup drive by turning it off and on... etc

  • Can I export Final Cut Pro files to Final Cut Express?

Can I export Final Cut Pro files to Final Cut Express?

FCE only works with DV for standard definition and the Apple Intermediate Codec for HD. Most FCP projects cannot be opened in FCE.

  • Exporting Final Cut project to DVD

trying to export Final Cut Express project to DVD not using IDVD...wanting the cut to play without menu options...looked thru help on IDVD and didnt find anything that would allow such a choice...quick time doesnt seem to have that option to export either...

Michel has told you what you need to do. In the iDVD menu bar, select View>Show map. At the top left of the resulting screen is the small "autoplay" window; if you drag your QuickTime movie there, it will play automatically when you insert the disk into the player.

  • Batch remove an effect from all clips in a timeline

This has probably been asked a hundred zillion times, but is there a way to batch remove an effect from all clips in a timeline?

I saw that there, but was hoping to remove just unsharp mask from all the clips but keep colour correction effects.

  • Exporting final cut clips on disk

Hi all, I'm a new Mac user as well as well as a learner on Final cut express 4. The problem I have is when I export a finished sequence by burning it to disk the footage freezes when I open the clip up straight of the disk, if I copy the file off the disk to the desk top it plays back fine. Is this normal or should it play back straight off the disk. I am working in HD apple intermediate codec 1280 x 1080, I think I have the export settings correct. If I do the the same process with i movie it plays back fine. I need to be able to export the file to clients for use on there websites and other areas so I need to get the recipe right, I just don't want to waste time sending out clips that they cant open properly, can any help before I pull out what's left of my hair.

Hi thanks for your reply, I just burnt the file off my scratch drive to a dvd so I'm guessing I have created a data file, I'm not the most computer savvy punter in the world. To create an mpeg 2 file I would have to go through iDVD to export, is this correct? All i want to achieve is to be able to deliver a clip to a clients IT department so they can can arrange it to suit there needs. Am I on the right track? Thanks for your help, the web is a wonderful thing.

  • How do i export clips from final cut as separate clips?

    Hi,
I edited 1 video file and cut it into 10 clips that I would like to use. I would like to export those clips into 10 separate files. How would I do that on Final Cut Express?

Mark in and out points in the timeline and export ones section. Mark new in and out points and export another section.

  • Audio popping between clips with timeline imported from final cut xml file

So i imported a final cut timeline that was synced with pluraleyes into adobe and between all the cuts there is an audible popping noise. I've tried using audio cross fade but it seems to make it worse. How can I fix this??

If anyone else has this problem - you fix it by making sure you pan the audio to the center, not left or right.

  • Exporting final cut project

I would appreciate assistance in exporting a final cut project to a dvd to be edited on another computer equiped with final cut by someone else.

First determine if the other person has a version of FCP that will open the project file you'll be providing. If not, you may have to export the project as an XML file.
Next you will ALL video and audio clips as well as any other media that the project contains (LiveType files, Motion files, SoundTrack Pro files, Photoshop files, etc). Unless your project is very, very small, I doubt that all the needed media would fit on one DVD (4.3gb of usable space). You may need to put everything on an external hard drive to deliver it.
I wouldn't worry about transferring any render files. The other person can re-render.

  • I can't export Final Cut Express HD movie to QT

I do realize the error of my ways. I installed an old copy of FCE HD onto my MBP with Snow Leopard (10.6.3). I really wish I knew SL only supports FCE4 before I edited a 2-hour movie.
I've seen discussion on this forum about installing Quicktime 7 from the SL install disk. So I installed QT 7. It is in the Utilities folder.
I rendered the video via Render All > Both and Render Only > Mixdown
I ran Disk Utility and Repaired Permissions
I exported via Export> Quicktime Movie> Include: Audio and Video, Markers: None, "Make Movie Self-Contained" not checked.
The time remaining box appears and counts down the estimated minutes remaining and the % complete. It gets all the way to 100% complete and hangs there.
Is there something I need to do with Quicktime or FCE to make sure it is using QT7 and not QTX? Is there some other error in my workflow?
    Thx in advance,
    Ed

I created a little workaround that may be specific to me. I have a copy of Final Cut Pro HD on my wife's iBook running 10.5. From the iBook, I logged into my MBP over my network. I then opened the project in FCP and was able to do an export. Once exported I moved the QT file back to the MBP where it played fine this morning. Unfortunately, I made a couple minor adjustments and now when I open the file it says a couple render files are missing. I'll search for an answer to that problem.
    Thanks Al

  • All clips missing after import from camcorder!

All clips are missing after import from camcorder - Canon ZR20.  For some tapes all clips are there, for others there are none.  All the files are there in the finder, but I don't know how to have them show up in Final Cut Pro X.
    Any suggestions?

Ok - this is frustrating.  I have been importing my old miniDV tapes again into FCPX as I wasn't able to transfer all of these projects from iMovie - don't get me started...  After importing about 7 of the tapes the first 3 came in fine, but the last 4 didn't have any clips as I said in my original posting.  Now after restarting FCPX a couple of times all of a sudden the clips are all coming in!  Strange!  Guess I'm OK now.
