Export fireworks image to wordpress site

please can anyone help? i have only just started to use firefox and have created the image i need for my site. it is a box with a text roll over effect that links to the home page. i now need to upload this to my wordpress website and i have no idea how to. i have tried to export and end up with either an images file and a .html file or a css and images file, which i have no idea what to do with. i am running fireworks cs4, using wordpress 3.0.3 with thesis 1.8 theme. i also have dreamweaver (no idea how to use it) and photoshop in which i am quite experienced in using.

Fireworks does not have a file uploading capability. You need an FTP program or you can "define a site" in Dreamweaver and use Dreamweaver's site management tools.
To incorporate your rollover into your Wordpress files, you will need to edit your Wordpress template to include some of the HTML you have exported from Fireworks. Specifically, you'll need to get the Javascript that does the image swapping and the table or divs that contain the images that are swapped. (An image rollover is not a single image that can be placed in a Web page. An image rollover consists of separate images to be shown, the HTML that contains the image, and the Javascript code that swaps them out and back in.)
You will need to know which file(s) in your template to modify, where to put the new code, and then upload the changed file(s) to your site as well.

How to export Fireworks image to MS Sharepoint

I am building a SharePoint site and would like to know how to export the image I created in fireworks to SharePoint. As of right now, I can export the image to the SharePoint home page, but none of the links are in tact.
Can anyone tell me how to export the image I have created in Firework, along with the links, to the SharePoint home page???

You did not understand my question or do not have an understanding of SharePoint or Fireworks.
I am building an image on the home page of the SharePoint site. I need have the user click on sections of the image to take them to certain places within the SharePoint site. The image has been built. The links to the pages have been added to the images with rollovers, using Adobe Fireworks. I need to take that image, with the links and rollovers, and move that to my SharePoint home page.
As of right now I can only move the image, but the links and rollovers do not go with it. I have added it to a 'page viewer' web part on the Sharepoint, but all the actions take place just withing the page viewer web part, rather than moving the entire browser to the selected page.
Can anyone help with this?

Best Strategy for Exporting Fireworks into Dreamweaver

I created a navigation bar in Fireworks and now I want to export it into Dreamweaver.
So I Went to Edit->Copy HTML Code (hotkey for this is Ctrl+Alt+C)
Now, what's the "best choice" from the dialog choices: AIR HTML, Dreamweaver HTML, Generic HTML, GoLive HTML, AIR XHTML, Dreamweaver XHTML, Generic XHTML or GoLive XHTML for a cross browser "professional" website?
I only tried the "Dreamweaver HTML Option" and itseemed to work nicely in my rookie opinion.
I think this technique might be at a performance cost to my graphic design or the website speed. So should I use a different strategy for exporting Fireworks to Dreamweaver? I have the CS5 package so can use any of those programs for support.

INHO, the best way to export from Fireworks to Dreamweaver is to first define your site in Dreamweaver, and then export the Fireworks document to the assets folder. Place your cursor when you want the navbar to be on your HTML page and choose Insert > Image Objects > Fireworks HTML.

Slicing Fireworks image to create a website?

I have created a large image and will like to slice it to make a website. How can I best do this??
I tried to slice it but the text on the image did not appear well on the internet browser. I now want to remove the text from the original image, slice it, and be able to insert the text over the image on dreamweaver so that the text can be sharp and clear on the browser.
How can I best do this??

With all due respect - don't. If you are a beginner then the easiest way would be to use tables. Te layout should be done in dreaweaver.
Very broad overview of process:
1. Insert a table for the header/banner (in DW)
2. In FW use your banner graphic as the background image (turn view of text off in Layers panel). Right click on graphic and "Add rectangle slice", optimize and export.
3. Turn text back on (Name) and turn view off for header. Repeat slice and optimize.
4. In DW either add a row or a new table for the navigation (a whole topic on it's own)
5. New table with 3 columns for News area. Again export background graphics and insert into table cells
If your are totally lost then as LAST resort and NOT recommended is to export your Fireworks layout as HTML and Images.
If you use all images for your site it will load slow and any text can't be read by a search engine. But an image can be used as a backgriund then you can type on top in Dreamweaver.

You've gone down the wrong path here by using Photoshop or
any graphics app
to build your html code for you. It's fragile, dodgy and
really only
intended for quick prototypes; not full production sites. As
soon as you
start adding content to this layout, it's going to blow up on
you.
Recommendation: Use Pshop to optimize image slices. Use DW to
build the
HTML code by inserting images into a pre-made CSS layout like
this one.

Downloading and editing an existing WordPress site in Dreamweaver CS5.

Hello! New to the forums, here.
I'll try to be brief. I've got a WordPress site in-place at metalmeter.com that is hosted through HostGator. Basically, what I'm looking to do is get the site from the remote server and edit it in Dreamweaver CS5, previewing all changes on a local testing server before putting the updated contents back on the remote server.
Now, let me be clear: I've tried plenty of the tutorials. I've watched hours of videos. I still can't get it configured properly. I've got the FTP connection to the remote server running smoothly. I've got XAMPP installed. I'm having difficulties (and I apologize for being vague), and I just don't know where the problem is located. In my htdocs folder for XAMPP, I've got two subfolders 'metalmeter' for the remote server's downloaded contents, and 'wordpress' for the wordpress installation that every page seems to be pointing me toward. What confuses me is that when I try and open the uppermost index.php file on the remote server, the dynamically discovered content is not being displayed in the live view with my local testing server. I want to be viewing my existing WordPress site in its entirety exactly as I see it online while I'm editing it, and then pushing back updated files to the /public_html/ root directory of the remote server so that I can edit the site from my local client. I'm extremely new to Dreamweaver, so any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
If you know how to do exactly what I'm trying to do and have been successfully viewing and editing your existing WordPress site in Dreamweaver for upload, please take some time to explain the set-up. I'd be forever in your debt!

I agree I don't see any reason to want to edit a Wordpress site in Dreamweaver. If you are using Wordpress then you may as well put Dreamweaver in the bin. For a quick tip on Theming, open your remote site in Firefox equipped with the 'Web Developer Toolbar'. Edit CSS on screen. Save changes to your local site and upload it to the remote server. No testing server required.
Wordpress is Wordpress and Dreamweaver is Dreameaver. As far as I can make out the two don't mix.
Ideally you would just choose a Wordpress theme which most relates to the nice site you have designed in Fireworks of which you won't find any however goodthe themes are. Then manipulate the themes css that's if you can understand it. Even for a seasoned css expert its heavy going because everyone produces css differently to achieve the same results.
Leave Wordpress well anlone unles you're going to use it out of the box so to speak or as a web-developer don't mind a bit of reverse engineering.

Wordpress sites are not displaying correctly on my mac after mountain lion upgrade (on all browsers - chrome, safari, firefox)

I am having trouble viewing anything that is on wordpress, including the wordpress site. This means I cannot view my own wordpress blog too properly - no images are viewable, only plain text and hyperlinked text. This happened immediately after I upgraded to Mountain Lion. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

How to work with an EXISTING wordpress site in side DW CS5 (yahoo hosted)

Have and existing Wordpress site that is hosted by Yahoo. Recently upgraded to Dreamweaver CS5. Was really excited about working with my Wordpress files inside of DW CS5 with all of it's new capabilities, bells and wistles. I can't seem to get it set up right.
Is Dreamweaver CS5 ABLE to display existing wordpress sites with dynamic content? And can anyone please help me figure out how.
I have been thru several lynda.com video tutorials including:
Dreamweaver CS5 and Wordpress 3 by Joseph Lowery (over the last month)
Dreamweaver CS5 with PHP and MySQL by David Gassner (over the last month)
PHP with MySQL essetial training by Kevin Skoglund (about a year ago when trying to learn php)
Self-hosting a Wordpress site (about a year ago when I set up the site)
I have also been scouring this forum and the web trying to find the answer to what seems to be a very common problem.

Everything works fine with the exercise files but as soon as I try my existing site files it gives me one of several errors
cannot establish a connection to the database
I set up my site thur the DW site manager with the
Local Site Folder set to: /applications/MAMP/htdocs/nate
server set to:
name: testing
connection using: local/network
server folder: /applications/MAMP/htdocs/nate
web url: http://localhost/nate
under the advanced tab i have set the server model to: php mysql
and have the testing box checked in the site set up dialog box
I also set a remote server:
name: remote
connect using: ftp
ftp address: ftp.MY_SITE_NAME.com
username: myusername@MY_SITE_NAME.com
password: mypassword
under the advanced tab i have the server model set to: php mysql
and have the remote box checked in the site set up dialog box
when tested connection was made. I also downloaded all of my site files using this connections (it took hours).
I installed MAMP and set the ports to the defauls (80, 3306) host: localhost username: root password: root
If i change the database settings in the wordpress wp-config.php file to: localhost, root, root it works and displays my page as I would expect in live view or browser but without the main content area or posts - displays a 404 error where the content should beI have exported my wp database and imported back into my local testing server thru phpmyadmin.
I have also gotten this error at various tries in the set ups: "dynamically-related files could not be resolved because of an internal server error"
I am currently getting this error: "Dynamically related files could not be resolved because the site definition is not correct for this server"
It is not asking me if I want to save files to the server when I hit live view.
Everything works fine with the lynda.com exercise files and with the generic wordpress files. I can open any page - live view or view in browser - can access and modify the imported database thur dreamweaver and phpmyadmin. I am only having these problems with my existing site files. I have done the complete set up at least 5 times from scratch going thru the videos and various tutorials step by step. I dont want to use the starter files that come with wordpress installations I want to use my highly modified pages/themes/database

DW does not work with a WP installation that has anything other than the default (numeric) permalinks. Apparently no-one ever tested this case during the development and prerelease phase, which is a shame, because very few WP installations use default permalinks. It's a point that Joseph Lowery doesn't touch in his tutorial, and of course the tutorial WP installation works perfectly.
Hope that helps, although it may disappoint (as it did me, and a lot of other folks). Here's hoping this is addressed in a dot release.

How to publish a single Muse page to site that also has a Wordpress site

I have a site (ddmdigital.com) that has Wordpress on it. I need to create several unrelated, stand-alone Muse pages that I would also like to put on that site...not to be accessed from the Wordpress site, just accessed from the site itself. For example, I'd like to put the files in a folder called FB so their url would be ddmdigital.com/fb/pagename. I can't figure out how to specify what I want in Muse's "FTP to Url" dialog box to upload them. I created the folder called FB and tried to use that but Muse just says "No folder of that name found."
I have done this by manually FTP-ing all the files but I'd like to use Muse's publish feature. Any help?

Matching Image Colours with Site Colours

Hi
I would like to match the colour of an image to the site corporate colours. If you see this logo - http://www.portfoliohealth.co.uk/ - you can see that the pastel green colour (#CDE8D9) on the far left of the the graduated image is different to the main colour in the 'p' logo opn the right.
Any idea on mathing these exactly (or as near as)?

Have you tried the Eye Dropper tool over the area?
It kind of difficult to determine which green is the color your looking for since there appears to be an oval in the middle.
Another idea to help pinpoint a color is to draw a Export Area JUST around the 'green' rounded logo. Double click it once drawn and it will take you to the Export dialog. Chnage the output to Gif /256 colors and you can see the exact green color variants in that area. To the right of the Gif, there's a Options icon, click that and from the list choose Sort by Luminance. You can then get a better idea of the darkest to lightest greens. Mouseover/click anyone of them and the rgb/hex shows up. Copy down the ones you need.
You can also choose Save > Save Palette (.act) from the Same Option context list, and load it directly into the Window > Swatches > Panel Options (Add Swatches (.act) command). This way you can interact with the Swatches Panel and you recreated logo.

How to export dynamic images into pdf

Hi,
I need to export a image into PDF which we are getting it from DBase. This returns me the image as BLOB and this we are putting it in between the xml tags. I am passing the xml to xsl-fo. While i tried to export the xml data into pdf using xsl-fo, the content is getting exported into pdf but not the image. I am using FOP, and i have added fop.jar, batik.jar, avalon-xx.jar, jai_codec.jar and jai_core.jar to my class path. I am putting my sample xsl and xml here.

all the UI elements in the adobe form are generally connected to your web-dynpro Context.
whatever you type in the online adobe form is reflected in the respective context attributes of the dynpro Context of the view where "ur Interactive form UI element is".
that means you can yourself fill the contents of ur interactive form by working on the get/set methods of the context attributes.
Likewise you can clear the form by setting all context attributes to blank eg ""
interactive form has two imp properties:-
*dataSource
data source points to the node all whose context attributes will be made available in the interactive form
*pdfsource
points to the context attribute which will hold the pdf.
note that the type of this pdfSorce attribute will be binary.

Export from iweb to Wordpress

I've been running a blog via iWeb, but I've been advised to move it to something more SEO-able, and to allow log in from anywhere - Wordpress in fact.
There are quite a few entries in my blog, is there any way of exporting everything from iweb so I can import into Wordpress directly? I'd like to put all the old entries up without having to copy and paste every one.

Yes, if you have purchased both a domain name and hosting, then it is your server - so I have a domain name registered with hosting space from HostExcellence and that is my server space.
WordPress.org can only be loaded onto a server/hosting space as it is seen as one of the Content Management Systems's similar to Joomla and Drupal. For this you need server space and a database and most hosting companies have automatic loading of something like WordPress.org onto the sever - you just click on install and it will all be loaded onto the server for you along with the database needed.
The difference between the WordPress.org is that as it is installed directly on your server, then it is linked directly to your own domain name so the url will be http://www.domain.com/Blog or http://www.domain.com/WordPress. The last name depends on how you choose to install it on your sever. I have 2 blogs using WordPress.org on my server and the domain names for both are http://www.domain.com/Blog.
With my other host, I wanted to create the whole website using WordPress, so I installed WordPress directly onto the server, so now, when you enter my domain name direclty the whole WordPress site comes up.
WordPress.org has more templates available for it and you can customise it a little more, but the great thing is that it is installed on your server directly, so no messing around with the url http://www.name.wordpress.com. It is on your own server rather than that of WordPress.

CSS Menu in Wordpress site

I am attempting to update a menu in a Wordpress site using CSS. I would like to have a repeating background image for each list item that is currently active and on hover, as I have done below. The problem is the image, although 50px high, only shows as the font size (14x) and only shows for the length of the characters. I need to figure out how to force the image to display full height and give some left and right padding.

Hi Nancy; I fixed the borders issue, but cannot seem to get over the fact that everytime I add the full height (50px) for the line height, all that happens is the links are pushed down several pixels. There must be something in the Wordpress theme CSS that's making this happen. I rarely build CSS menus from scratch...

Problem with fireworks images

Sometimes when look at my site from different computers my
fireworks image looks different. It sometimes has a colored
background and when it was created in fireworks it has a
transparent background. I am really frustrated as to why this is.
Can anyone help me?

There is the problem with PNG transparency and IE:

JPEGs do not allow transparency, so forget about using JPEGs

Banner on wordpress site doesn't show in safari

On my Wordpress site I have added a banner from an external link to be displayed on my frontpage. After saving it doesn't show the banner in Safari (but it does show it in Chrome and someone externally tested and said it showed in Explorer; so the html code must be right). The weird thing is it does show the image of the banner in the Snippet Editor. Anyone has an idea what causes this or how to fix this, I want all Safari users out there to be able to see and click on the banner as well!

Some browsers are far more forgiving of errors than Safari, and not everything works the same way in different browsers.
If the image is visible when you use Safari - Develop menu - Disable Styles, then it's presumably a CSS problem that only shows in Safari.
Do test with all Safari extensions switched off, since they can have unexpected results.
