Export flash movie to play on domestic DVD

I need to create a Flash movie with a spinning logo on a
bitmap background that can be played for at least an hour on a DVD
player through a regular widescreen flat panel TV . I can easily
make the flash movie and make it loop, but I have no idea how to
make it run on a DVD player for the TV nor what resolution will be
required.
Can any one please help me?

welcome DBeaty to the  boards...
be sure, your iM project is located in the 'Movies' folder of your Mac.
Launch iDVD
choose a Theme
click on Media/Movies
drop project into window...
choose 'create image' under file...
be sure, 10 - 15 GB of free disk space still avail on your internal harddrive...
wait...
wait longer...
double click on created img file..
launch Toast (or Disk Utility)
'copy' the mounted (virtual) DVD onto a dvd-r ...
... should work, should play on PCs (Windows needs an additional DVDplayer app! Windows-out-of-the-box does NOT play standard videoDVDs.. )

I finished a movie, and saved it as a MP4 file. How do you save and burn a movie to play in a dvd player and show on your tv.

  • Exporting Flash movie

I'm very new to flash, and I'm trying to export a simple
little 30 second video clip so my web designer can put it on our
website. I imported the .flv movie into a new project. tested it
and it worked fine. The movie is stored on my video drive.
I exported the movie from the project, to a portable drive to
deliver to my designer believing that it would be a self contained
piece of flash, but the Flash movie won't play unless my video
drive is hooked up to my computer. I then decided to build the
entire project in my small portable drive and store the original
movie on that drive and it worked, but there must be a more elegant
    way to do this.
    any suggestions would be helpful.
    thx...jw

you should play your flv file using a swf created by a fla,
not import it into a the flash authoring environment.

  • Problems with exporting flash movie to AVI movie

Hi, I have created a flash movie with motion tweens for my lettering and added external images for my backgrounds and symbols to create a presentation. The presentation works perfect in Flash, but the problem is when I export it to an AVI movie, the lettering is totally gone for each slide and only the images of backgrounds and symbols are working.
I keeping getting an error in the output box everytime I play the movie in flash:
    Error opening URL 'http://fpdownload.adobe.com/pub/swz/crossdomain.xml'
I don't know if this helps.

Not sure you posted this issue to the correct forum. This is the Adobe Connect Forum not the Flash forum. You might get better results in the Flash forum.
I think your conversion tool is doing that. Maybe another one would be better.

  • Best way to export flash movie for JAVA

Here is my dilema. I get all kinds of flash movies to post to our site. I had been asking for a final output of  .swf, whenever possible. Occassionally I get some videos that have a player and I wind up with .swf and some related FLV files, which we always have problems with in our JAVA environment. We have issues locating the player files, sometimes they don't play for people with particular browsers etc.. The coders tell me that it is a problem with the "base" locations, and recommend that we get a single swf file and have the videos and players embedded into the .swf. They tell me that the browser sometimes cannot find  the supporting files, and that it forces them to post the flash files on the root directory. Any ideas what might be happening here?
One other thing - I currently have an embedded swf file on one of our sites. It seems pretty heavy and skips - our Flash Developer did not include a loader. I sent it back to him to compress the file and include the swf. The developer is telling me that compressing the file won't do anything for me an that we should export it as an FLV file or have the FLV load into the swf. For one thing this is not a video - so I am not understanding why we would need an FLV. Am I misunderstanding something here.
    Thanks!

Thanks again Winston. (You helped me out in the past).
In my playing around, I was leaning toward AIC with a compressor pre-set of 1080i or p would give me decent results on export. I'm still a little confused over a number of the other options, and this seemed simplistic. (I'm still learning here as I go).
One question on that though if you would. Am I best off leaving the FPS settings to current? I am assuming I can experiment with that if I want to keep a computer copy, but for back to tape purposes, that seems to make sense to my simple mind.
On a side note, I was quite surprised at how good the default "large" export looks when viewed on the computer. I may keep that as my default for iTunes\Front Row.
    Thanks again.

  • Flash movies with play button don't work

I have the 'simple' problem that everytime I see a "play" button on a web page with flash content, clicking on it won't start the movie.  However, e.g. YouTube movies work fine. So it seems it's just movies that do not start automatically after clicking on a link.
Also, checking the flash player e.g. at the Adobe site (http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html), tells me in a flash box I have the latest flash player installed, and I see the  flash movie 'flash player is running on your system' with the red ball rolling in it.
I have the same problem for both google Chrome and for IE.
I still have an old Dell Inspiron 6000 notebook with Win XP (latest updates) and ATI mobility Radeon X300 graphics chip, for which I also installed the latest available drivers.
Experimenting with Flash Player settings was unsuccessful so far (e.g. no hardware acceleration, clearing all internet data in the Flash Player global settings tool).
My desktop (also with Win XP and with the same browsers and Flash Players/Flash Plugins installed works fine...).
I also know that it worked at an earlier time with this NB...
I managed to run the movie with a Linux Live CD but that is not what I want to do every time...
    Any idea is highly appreciated.....

double check its publish settings so you do NOT have "paused at start" checked.

  • Flash Movie to Play Sitewide w/o Re-Starting...

    Hi,
Is it possible to have a Flash movie play sitewide without
re-starting on each page and without using frames?
    How?
    Thanks!

You could hack something with unique URL's to get the SWF to
stay on the correct section. I've seen some interesting ideas in
this train of thought for making the SWF work with the back button
of the browser. Essentially, you would cause each "page" or
"section" of your SWF to change the url to something like "
    http://www.myWebsite.com?sect=portfolio"
changing the ?sect= at the end each time. Then, have the HTML
auto-read that URL variable and pass it into the SWF. In the SWF,
check to see if the variable exists, if not, play from the start,
if it does, go straight to that section. This would mimick the type
of behavior you are looking for, and you would have the added
benefit of a browser page-like structure that works with the
    back/forward buttons.
The downside is you would need a page-refresh in-between SWF
sections, though the SWF would be cached, so the user wouldn't need
to re-download it. Of course, you could use some AJAX structure to
get rid of the white flicker of the screen...... but that is
    another discussion entirely.
Hope I gave you a good starting point for some play. It may
be more of a hassle than its worth to do this, but definitely
    possible.

  • The size of my exported FCP movie is too big for DVD studio pro

    Hey,
I have been editing for 4-5 years now and have never had a problem with size of a project to put into DVD Studio Pro to burn. However, I just finished a 2 hour project in which exported as a FCP movie it is 23.97 gb in size. When i put this into DVD Studio Pro it makes it 4.8gb in size which just makes it too big for it to burn. I have tried changing the compression to no avail and just now decided to clean up the timeline so everything is on one track with nothing overlapping. (The problem was it was a 2 camera shoot so the first camera i had on the bottom track constant with the second camera on the top track when i needed it but still with the first camera underneath.) Do you think this could be the solution to my problem? If you guys could help me out it would be most appreciated!

some things don't make sense here. please clarify.
Standard DV is roughly 5 minutes per gig, so that means that you have just about 2 hours of video, ok, got that. Now it's the two track thing that gets me.
Are you saying you have 4 hours of footage, the same thing from two cameras, and you're trying to set up a multi-angle DVD?
If it's just that you used two video tracks to edit, then NO, it is not your problem. It's still only 2 hours, the video will be mixed down to one track upon export from FCP to quicktime.
My suggestion is, instead of bringing a quicktime file directly into DVDSP, use compressor. I believe they have a preset in compressor 2 for a standard 120 minute DVD. IF you're project is truly less than 120 minutes, than that should be fine. If not, then you may have to manually make your own setting and lower the bitrate.
    So the workflow is:
    -open sequence in fcp
-file>export>quicktime movie... (you can uncheck "make movie self-contained" if you want it to export faster and you plan on keeping your original capture footage around)
-export your movie to a directory of your choice with a name of your choice.
    -open compressor (in applications)
-drag the quicktime file you created into compressors main window, this will set it up. Now specify the export setting (120 minute HQ all files either 16x9 or 4x3 dep. on project) and specify a location for the files to be created. I strongly suggest that you use the HQ (High quality) settings in compressor. It's much slower to process, but much better quality.
-with a 2 hour movie it should take a really REALLY long time to compress, so I'de say do it over night.
-when compressor is done, you should have 2 or three files. a .m2v file a .aif file, and a .ac3 file. The .aif is your PCM audio, much better quality than the .ac3, which is dolby 2 channel. However, the .ac3 is a much smaller file with a lower bit rate, so if the .aif makes the DVD file size too big, you can switch it out for the .ac3
-Finally, open up your DVDSP project, drag the .m2v, .aif, and .ac3 into DVDSP and use the .m2v for the video track and either the .aif or .ac3 as the audio (as mentioned above)
-the good news is, your DVD media is already rendered, so when you go to build your DVD it will go much, much faster!
By the way, I recommend you go to file>advanced>build do not do a burn and build.
I find it best to build the VIDEO_TS folder on a hard drive and then use a program like toast to create a DVD (using toasts from VIDEO_TS option). This method also allows you to go back into DVDSP, make tweaks, and reuse your VIDEO_TS folder, not having to rebuild the whole thing each time.
Remember, 120 minutes on a single layer DVD is going to render fairly low quality no matter what.
If you have a newer mac and a dual layer drive, you may want to cough up a few bucks and get a dual layer DVD-R, then you have over 8 gigs of space to work with, perfect for HQ 2 hour footage.

  • Burned DVD-R won't play in domestic DVD player

Why a DVD-R i burn won't play in a common domestic DVD player, even the most recent and good quality ones ? Is there something else i should do before burning ?

How did you burn it? If you dragged the files to the dvd in finder and then hit burn it won't play in a dvd player, but if you used iDVD it should work.

  • Flash movie not playing in Catalyst

I'm a novice to FC, but have some website design experience.
With that said, I'm having a hard time figuring my problem out. I created a interactive tour for the non-profit organization that I work for, everything works perfectly when I preview it in catalyst. However, when I publish it to dreamweaver and import it two things happen when I preview it in a browser. 1. the sound that I have during a mouse over doesn't work. 2. All of my five panels have short 2-3 min. flash movies that will not play.
If I play the swf in dreamweaver everything works, it's just when I preview it in a browser that it fails. I have tried both the "insert swf" option and the html code. In the html code the sound happens during a mouse over but the videos still won't play. I have tried to look through the flash code but can't find the link to my media. Please, Please help.
One more note: I have tried to save the movie in both FLV and FL4 format with no luck either way.

    Hi Jim,
Due to Flash Player security restrictions, you usually can't use the same SWF file both for previewing locally and for uploading to a website.  Basically, the rule of thumb is:
If you're looking at a file:// URL, you need to use the run-local folder's contents
If you're looking at an http:// URL, you need to use the deploy-to-web folder's contents
So, when working locally in Dreamweaver you'll want to use run-local, but then substitute deploy-to-web when you're ready to upload your site to a webserver.  If you want to make sure your substitution worked, you can always upload to a temp "staging" folder on your server and then test it in your browser before going fully live with the content.

  • Why can't I burn a movie to play in a DVD player?

I made a movie in iMovie well it was more like a slide show I did with pictures and dropped some music in there However when I went to burn the the movie I got a message saying that I only can play this movie in a DVD/DVD rom will not play in a standard DVD player. Then I tried sharing the movie to iDVD but I still can't burn into DVD format for (DVD Player) Why do I have to select new themes in iDVD all I want to do is burn the movie that I created to play in a dvd player.
    Thank You

This feature creates a duplicate of your project onto
a CD or DVD ROM. It does not create a video DVD for
playing in a DVD player. Do you want to continue?
This is the message that I received in iMovie when I
went to burn to disc File>Burn to disc
There are two kinds of DVDs we can create from within iMovie.
    1. A DVD containing iMovie project files as Mac files. This kind of DVD functions a lot like a hard disk. The File > Burn to disk command burns the iMovie project onto the DVD. This project movie cannot be played on a TV.
Most iMovie projects are too large to fit on a single-sided DVD, which is limited to about 4.6GB of data. One hour of iMovie video requires 12GB of disk space.
    2. A DVD containing files encoded (converted) in the MPEG-2 format, which DVD players know how to play. This type of DVD can be played on a TV. When converting your iMovie project to the MPEG-2 format, iDVD compresses the video and audio so (about) two hours of video can fit on a single-sided DVD.

  • Exporting flash movie in 4:3 aspect ratio

I need to export my flash movie so the aspect ratio is 4:3.
However, the few compression settings I have chosen have resulted
in really poor quality video. The setting that looks perfect is
DVCPRO HD 720p60, however the dimensions of this is 1280 x 720, and
since i need to post this on the web, the dimensions need to be 720
x 480. I've tried compressing the video in Compressor, but once
    again, the quality is crap.
What is the best 4:3 compression setting to use in order to
    get optimal video quality?
I have Flash 9 and Mac OS 10.5.4

That is how the studio supplied them. This is not an Apple TV issue.

  • How to format DVD-R so a movie will play in a DVD player

How to format a DVD-R useing HP computor so it will play in any DVD player Bought movie from I tunes

Sorry, but you cannot burn a movie or video from the iTunes Store to a video DVD. The content owners will not allow Apple to make that possible. You can view movies from the iTunes Store only in iTunes on a computer or though one of Apple's players (iPod, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV).
    Regards.

  • Why do Flash movies only play at certain sites?

For some reason, flash movies won't play at certain sites. They work fine at YouTube. But, at places like MLB.com and NFL.com, nothing happens. My system specs are:

    8.0GB Memory
    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
    Firefox 3.6.8
    Flash Player 10.1
