Export FLV or SWF from FCP Studio 2?

I had FCP 5 and was able to export using > Quicktime Conversion> Macromedia FLV or Macromedia SWF.
For some reason, I can't do it anymore, since the options have disappeared. Any ideas on where I can find the plug-ins needed or updates?

I bought OnFlix Exporter to do this. Flash is proprietary to Macromedia, so I'm pretty sure you need to pay to add this capability to Final Cut Pro.
A very cheap program that will make Flash movies for you, without tying up your Final Cut system to do converstions, is Mediahub.

  • Export 'flv' file straight from FCP

    Hi,
I need to find a program to enable me to export straight from Final Cut time line to 'flv' file,as I need to save time rather than exporting from Final Cut and then to flv. Is there any program that does this?

    Hello there,
for Flash 8 video (VP6-E/S codecs) you would need something like:
*On2 Flix Exporter* - QT export component ($199)
    http://www.on2.com/index.php?399
*Flip4Mac Episode* - Batch Encoder app with free Apple Compressor integration plugin ($395)
    http://www.flip4mac.com/episode1.htm
    http://www.flip4mac.com/pdfs/EpisodeCompressorQuickstart.pdf
For Flash 9 video (Flash Player 9 Update 3) you would only need Compressor (or Episode) as Flash 9 video no longer uses the proprietary On2 VP6 codec but standards-based MPEG4/AVC (H.264).

  • Compressor opens but am not able to transfer files from FCP studio?

Help! I have tried installing FCP Studio (6.02) 2 to 3 times. I have tried removing Compressor from the Applications list under the library preferences.
When I open Final Cut and highlight the sequence and then send to to Compressor, I see the Compressor title open up at the top but my files do not appear. I don't know if its corrupt or if there is a reset to cause all the windows to appear. I am able to use the drop down list to make the inspector and other windows appear but cannot find my files.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

That signals a problem with QMaster, which is most likely something you didn't remove prior to your reinstall. Apple published a document to help troubleshoot this problem, which has been linked to numerous times on this forum.

  • What is the best compressor setting to use ... when exporting a 720p timeline from FCP for a project that will only be played back in a standard def monitor?

What is the best compressor setting to use for DVD StudioPro ... when exporting a 720p 30 timeline from FCP for a project that will only be viewed in a standard def monitor?

Update: The iBook can play any 480p video and higher if I encode them with DivX and in AVI format. But of course this is not compatible with my iPhone 4. At least I can shrink my library now and get away from the full MPEG-2s. I don't get why I can't use Apple's h264 though. There has to be a setting I am missing. The sample Apple h264 videos from the days of Tiger worked flawlessly on my iBook when it was new so the CPU must be capable of decoding it. I really can't understand this.
Also, since I made my videos in English for my family, I had to create soft subtitles for my wife's Chinese family, and I can't get players like QT with perian or MPlayerX to sync them properly to an AVI encoded with DivX, they only sync well with the iPhone 4 m4v/mp4 formatted files I made. This is a real pickle.
So now I may need three or four copies of each video, LOL. I need to hardcode the subtitles if I want to use AVI to playback on older machines, and keep the mp4 file for the iDevices too, while keeping higher quality h264 videos for my American relatives...
If h264 is compatible with my iBook, what is the proper encoding settings? Must I dramatically lower the settings or frame rate? I can settle on 2 copies of each video that way. One iBook/G4/eMac compatible video that syncs correctly with my srt soft subs, and another version that works well with my iPhone 4 and iPad.
All in all, I will end up with more than 3 or 4 version of each video. On my late G5 dual core I have the full 720-1080p uncompressed master files. On my i5 iMac I have the h264 compressed versions for distribution, and lower versions for my iDevices. Now I need to keep either full MPEG-2 files for the iBook to play, or convert to older formats like DivX AVI for our family's legacy machines. I am running out of hard disk space quick now, LOL.
    Is there an easier way?

  • Upgrade to 5.1 from FCP Studio 5

    Hi everyone,
Just looking for some advice... I currently have FCP Studio 5 running on G5.
Does anyone know if there is a patch update for FCP5 to 5.1? I can't seem to find it in the Downloads page. Or do I have to pay for the upgrade?
Also, would FCP 5 work on the Macbook Pro with Rosetta?
    Thanks for your help

There is a fee to upgrade from 5.0.x to 5.1.x You will not find it on the downloads as it is a completely redone operating code and comes on many, many disks.
Some have reported FCP5.0.x running on intel macs under Rosetta. Your mileage may vary.

  • Still images from FCP Studio 2

Ok, I have done it again. I edited a documetnary yet, forgot to have a photographer on the set.
I have captured some great images using my HVX200 but of course when exporting a still from FCP, the resolutin is only 72dpi and I need 300.
Could I import teh stills from FCP into Photoshop and just change the dpi? Would this be suitable for printing the images?
When doing that, it seems just to make them a larger photo.
    THANKS!
    Lawrence

Yes, you can change the DPI to 300. No, this won't make the images any sharper.  They started out 1280x1080, 72dpi.  Merely increasing the DPI won't make them higher resolution.  It will still look like video.  If you hire a photoshop pro, a graphics designer, they might have a few plugins in their toolkit that can help, like Genuine Fracals that help with upscaling smaller images, plus know-how on how to deal with this. But it won't look like it originated from a 12 MP camera.
Suitable for printing? That's up to you. How does it look to you?

  • Free upgrade from FCP Studio (5) to FCPX?

I have plunked down a couple of euros a few years ago to get Final Cut Pro Studio (v5.1).
Is there a way I can "convert" or "trade in" my FCP Studio for FCPX?

No. FCP X is a completely new application, sold only through the Mac App Store. There is no upgrade from old versions. Anyway, in the old days even an upgrade would cost at least as much as the whole cost of FCP X...

  • Subclip import from fcp studio

is it possible to import subclips from FCP 7 projects into FCPX?

reading further in the 7toX instructions, contrary to your comment, they say
Translating a Final Cut Pro Project
To translate a full Final Cut Pro project:
    Make sure there is nothing selected in the Browser;
Choose the File menu and from the Export submenu select XML…
When imported into Final Cut Pro X after translation, the bins will be translated to keyword collections, based on the bin name. Log notes and other metadata will be in the Notes field for each clip.

  • Export settings for sequence from FCP to Avid PC

    Hi,
Please can someone give me the best export settings/codecs to use if I need to export a FCP sequence with clips shot on XDCam EX1, 1920x1080i, 35 mbs at the least quality loss possible so that it can be imported into an Avid on PC for titling, effects and other bits added? My on-line editor is on Avid PC.
    Many thanks
    Belinda

    Hee....missed that final sentence somehow.
So...offlining imported footage on FCP that you will online in Avid? What is there to online? You imported at full resolution. Must be color correction.
OK then...you edit in FCP from imported XDCAM EX footage...and you intend to go to Avid for the final color correct and titling. Did you plan for this? Test this? because I am pretty sure that the QT files that were created when you imported with the transfer tool won't work on a PC. Unless you tested and they did. But it appears that they don't as you are asking how to get them there.
Did you not ask this question when you started this show? That is ALWAYS something you do. If you plan on doing a certain workflow, you have to make sure that the workflow in question will work. Offline and online from tape is fairly simple, as you can recapture from the tape...timecode being the big thing there. But this is IMPORTED footage. Full clips, and I don't see how you can import only what is used in a sequence.
This issue, coupled with FCP to Avid...and Avid on a PC no less. Well. Find a codec you can export from FCP that the Avid can read (this will require testing), then MEDIA MANAGE the footage to that codec. Hmm....but then how will the Avid read the FCP project file to reconnect to the footage?
Nope...I stand by my original answer. Output to XDCAM disk and recapture, or to HDCAM or HDCAM SR tape and recapture.

  • Export to flash swf from Slide Show module

If I work on a stunning slide show, with music et al, It would be perfect if I can export to a swf file and put it on a web site or left to clients on a CD.
Otherwise, as is now, I have to work twice: create a slide show and then a web flash site...

There is nothing you are doingt wrong, the web people need to check their Flash stuff, most importantly realyl include al lthe files you provide them with. there's a reason why it spits out 4 files...

  • EDL from FCP Studio to FCP HD

    Hello all,
I've been working on a project in FCP Studio (version 5.1.1) and want to give it back to the director so he can look at it on his laptop. However he only has FCP HD (version 4.5) so obviously the project format is too advanced.
Would creating an EDL be the best course of action here, without him having to spend a lot of money on both the OS and FCP upgrades?
I've never used EDL's before, is there a good workflow anywhere on the web, someone can point me in the direction of?
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Fred

Export your sequence as an XML file. See here for details.

  • How can I export 1920x1080 Mp4 directly from FCP

How can I export 1920x1080 Mp4 directly from FCP

    Thanks Russ.
I wasn't thinking about the Apple Devices so much as the Master File set to Audio & Video which produces a .mov file.
I have normally used the Master File to export my videos but will experiment in future with "Computer".
I've taken a closer look with VideoSpec and notice that the data rate of the .mov file is about 70% of the .mp4 and the file size is correspondingly smaller.
The export/render time of the .mov is also somewhat quicker.

  • Exporting 1-frame stills from fcp

Here's my problem: I've captured lots of 1-frame stills from clips, stored in the Browser. Using 24PA Anamorphic Setup, wanting my final DVD to play 16:9 on a widescreen LCD. I then create a new Anamorphic Sequence and drag all stills to the timeline. Then, I export all the stills as jpg's, using QT Conversion to jpg. This works fine. But when I look at the resulting stills in Photoshop, they are squashed. Now, I can convert them to QT files and then get a nice correction by exporting the stills back out of QT, using Show Movie Properties>Visual Settings>Unchecking "Preserve Aspect Ratio">Changing Dimensions to 853 x 480. But then I've got a QT file which doesn't open in Photoshop. Yikes! By the way, in fcp, it doesn't seem to matter what format I set for the export--png,jpg,photoshop, etc. The stills always look squashed, compared to the video that they came from. Thanks for your help.

Drew13 or anyone! Oops! I just discovered another problem. I changed the pixel aspect ratio of all the 1-frame stills that I had exported from my 16:9 fcp project, and while there in Photoshop they look correct. But if I open these pictures in Preview, they still look squeezed. Then, if I open them again in Photoshop, I get this notice, "Pixel aspect ration correction is for preview purposes only. Turn it off for maximum quality." When the picture opens, it looks correct at 16x9 again. Apparently, changing the pixel aspect ratio in Photoshop does not "really" change the photo. My goal is to use the exported stills in a DVD slideshow, and have them look correct at 16x9 dimensions, but now I'm stuck with all squeezed photo-stills. Hmm.

  • Can't export to quicktime v10 from FCP 5

I have recently loaded FCP 5 (Not Studio) onto a G5 iMac.
When I try and export to quicktime it only exports the first
18 seconds or so. My FCP 5 worked fine on my iMac G-4 with Quicktime 7.6 but it doesn't export on my G-5 using Quicktime 10.
It will export using quicktime conversion, but then I cannot get my chapter markers.
    Any and all help appreciated.
    Michael the Hunter

    Thanks for the response.
On my G4 I am using 10.04.11 and it works just fine with my FCP 5. The G 5 that I am having trouble with FCP 5 is Snow Leopard. I figured that the Snow Leopard OS was probably the problem along with Quicktime 10. And you have confirmed that.
Looks like I will have to purchase a newer version of FCP for the G 5 and use my FCP 5 on my old G 4. Thank you apple.
    Thanks for your input.

  • Export frame by frame from FCP/QT film, to print. How?

    Hi,
I´ve FCP/QT exported films and need to export them as frame by frame files at the highest quality possible (.jpeg or even better .tiff?) to chose some frames and use them as stills to print on offset with 300 ppi resolution, etc.
As an example, I usualy do this with Acrobat, from a pdf and export an entire pdf into separate jpgs.
Now I need to to the same but from a FCP/QT film.
Is it possible? How? With FCP? Or another software?
    Thanks very much.

To clarify what Jerry said. Video has just pixels - not DPI. Think about it for a second. A DV image displayed on a 13" CRT screen has exactly the same number of pixels as the image displayed on your 50" HDTV. How can DPI have any meaning?
So, it you are exporting still images from a 4:3 DV sequence, you are dealing with 720x480 non square pixels (which equals 640x480 square pixels) . When you go into the print world, an image based on those square pixel dimensions would translate into an image ~2.13 inches x 1.6 inches at 300 dpi.
