Export from Adobe Illustrator to Wissen Castop Plus 99

Hello
We have a DGI Omega OM-130 Plotter. I can only find drivers to run this from Windows XP, using Wissen Castop Plus 99.
While this works for sending flies to plot, the software isn't up to much in making the artwork, so the machine is hard to use.
Ideally we need a way to export files from Adobe Illustrator (MAC) to Wissen Castop Plus 99 which uses WMP or WPF file types.
We have tried the CoCutPro2 plugin for Illustrator, but this only exports HPGL files and I've no idea what they are.
I'd also be open to non-obvious ideas for getting the plotter working with anything other than Win XP, even command line if it will plot any standard file type.
I'd also consider scripting in Illustrator.
thanks.

Whose file formats are WMP & WPF? Have never heard of these unless they are for Windows Media Player & Word Perfect Forms, which are not graphic formats.
What other file formats can Castop Plus 99 accept? Below is form their website.
Designed for compatibility, Wissen Castop Plus 99 includes import filters for 23 different file formats and as an OLE client, your jobs can contain links to work in other OLE server applications.
You should be able to import 23 different file formats. PDF would be great cause you can make a PDF from nay software and bring that into Castop. Does it come with Traceline, that is their software to convert bitmap to vector, so I would  assume these WMP & WPF are vector formats.

  • Exporting from Adobe Illustrator to AutoCad 2009

    Hello,
I have been working for some time on wood moulding profiles made in Adobe Illustrator, exporting as a 2004 DWG, and inserting as a block in an AutoCad file. I have architects that may use these wood moulding profiles and I have had problems along the way in moving from one program to the other. I have over 500 of these so redrawing them in AutoCad is not a wanted answer really.
When I try to Insert the Illustrator DWG files I get an error message saying "The NLS files requred to convert text entites and symbol names cannot be found in your system". There is no text in these files, just line drawings. So thats ok.
But when I place the DWG file in AutoCad there is nothing there, or just points. Has anyone had any luck bringing an AI DWG file into AutoCad?
Thank you so much for any help.

    Hi Annie,
Try saving your file to its simplest level that you can before exporting as a DXF. Save it with a new name (to preserve the original file), then flatten layers, outline text, get rid of hidden things. Then try exporting as a DXF. If they can open a DWG, then they should be able to open a DXF.
I used to use a program called CadMover by Kandu Software to move files between Illustrator and AutoCad. But with the newer versions of Illustrator and using the exporting options listed above I haven't needed it.
    Good luck to you,

  • How can I export an Adobe illustrator CC .AI file to a DWG or DXF file suitable for SolidWorks?

    Hi
    Can anyone help?
How can I export an Adobe illustrator CC .AI file to a DWG or DXF file,  without SolidWorks enlarging the file & converting every curve into hundreds of short little straight lines rather than a single continuous line/s.
I have made sure the file is ungrouped or has any compound paths or colours.
Opening it in Autocad 2010 still converts the DWG file into hundreds of short little straight lines!
The file is needed to laser cut out an aluminium shape using SolidWorks 2008 (Metal soft)?
    Formats they can handle are:
    DWG, DXF, IGES, IGA
There must be a way to export it without re-drawing the whole design in Soildworks again!!??
    Can anyone help?

Not really. This is a limitation you will have to live with. Unless you are extremely careful, most paths will be converted to polyline segments by AI and in particular in AI CC this is somehow busted, so it happens more often. You might have much more luck opening a native AI file in DraftSight or a 2D CAD program like TurboCAD and exporting a DWG or 2D IGES/ STEP file from there. The sizing issue is a different matter, but without knowing what units you actualyl used, nobody can advise.

  • Exporting from Adobe Illistrator to AutoCAD

    Hello All.
I am trying to export graphics from adobe illustrator into AutoCAD LT 2014 as a DXF.
I need to send the DXF to our CNC operator. The problem is...the exported file has the line type as a spline. The CNC cannot read a spline. It only reads Polly lines.
Any ideas on how to send this as a P.line or lines and Arc's?
Or perhaps how I can convert them once exported?

  • Import Template from Adobe Illustrator CS4

    Hi everyone,
I would like to import a template (a letterhead that i made) from Adobe Illustrator CS4 into Pages, which I use for writing documents. So far I had no success in doing so. The formats supported by Illustrator are png, bmp, dwg, dxf, emf, swf, jpg, pct, psd, tif, tga, txt and wmf. Furthermore there are Illustrator formats ai, ait and eps and fxg, pdf, svg and svgz.
I hope theres someone who can help me...
    niels

The advantage of a vector format (such as PDF) over a bitmapped format (such as PNG) is portability. Right now, for example, you might be using your letterhead to print to an inkjet printer. Some time in the future you may choose to have a professionally printed stationary printed using the same graphic and at that point the PNG file may not produce high quality output whereas the PDF would. Also, in many cases the PDF file not only creates higher quality output but also results in smaller file sizes.

  • Exporting to PNG from Adobe Illustrator cutting off edges

I created a 40px x 40px image in Adobe Illustrator CS4. I saved as an .ai file and then tried to export as a PNG.
Adobe Illustrator automatically crops the background and tightens the export to a rect around all the objects which if fine. In this case, I am not working edge to edge so my image is not quite 40px wide.
But, unfortunately, Illustrator is not exporting the entire image. I end up with an image that is 34px wide. Indeed, the icon I draw starts on the left hand side but the right edge of my object cut off.
Any ideas why this is happening? I can't imagine Illustrator CS4 can't correctly to export to PNG.

Can't necessarily explain the reason for the cutoff without knowing more, but you might be able to  solve it by adding a 40 x 40 square with no fill or stroke and including it in the export.

  • Exporting from Adobe Draw to Photoshop?

When I save a Adobe Draw file to Creative Cloud it saves in the png or jpeg format and much too low rez for me to actually use.  Supposedly I can send Adobe Draw files straight to Photoshop CC without going through Creative Cloud first?  I own Photoshop CS4, but before I upgrade to Photoshop CC I want to know what will happen when I try to open my Adobe Draw files in Photoshop CC.  I need resolutions of at least 800 dpi to make the Adobe Draw files useful to me.  Can you export from Draw to Photoshop CC in whatever resolution you want, or will it export in a particular resolution?

Thanks.  That's not high enough rez for me, but it's good to know.
I assume if I open it in Illustrator first I could get a final product that's higher rez?  (I've never used Illustrator before, so this would be open territory for me.)
For the record, I like the way Adobe Ideas lets me export better.

  • PDF export of adobe illustrator files loses layers

When we export an iBooks Author file as a PDF (best quality), Adobe Illustrator files that have transparent layers lose their transparency.
The .ai files look fine iBooks Author (where is gives the file name of the image as a .pdf because that is how iBooks author imports .ai files), and when you Preview the file in iBooks on the iPad, and the transparent layers are there.
It is only when exporting to PDF that the image breaks.

The problem was in "printing" the PDF.
The issue was completely resolved by printing the iBA file to a Post Script file, and then indepently using Adobe Distiller to produce the final PDF.
It makes no sense to me why using Print to Adobe PDF from the iBA print menu works any differently than using Distiller on a .ps file. But whatever, it works, and it is beautiful.

  • Exporting from adobe photoshop elements 11 to Revel

Is there a way to connect the photo to a album at time of export from photoshop elements?

    Hello Allan
Yes there is a way to export your images to an album. When you select the image in the Elements 11 organizer select from the file menu "Export to Revel"
Then in the Adobe Revel window after you sign in, you will see an Export To drop down menu, which you can select the album that you wish to upload to. In the screen shot below I have my main libraries and the libraries that are shared to myself. So you have the option to upload to shared libraries too. ( The shared libraries are below the separator line)
Let me know if  you have any other questions regarding exporting your images to Revel
    Thanks

  • Exporting from Adobe Flash

I want to export an animation from Adobe Flash, but every time that I did, the final video in mp4 was black.

There were no errors while it was exporting. I'm pretty sure it's all on the timeline. The animation is Actionscript 3.0, and I'm not sure what I should make the publish settings. (There's also sound in the animation) When I tried converting it to a video in Media Encoder, the format is H.264 to Youtube 1080, but it just turns out black. When I click the settings, it says that there is no video.

  • Why does stereo QT export from Adobe turn to mono

As Adobe well knows, there is an issue with QT files exported from Premiere and AE. Certain software-including but not limited to FCP 7- sees it as 2 mono channels and pans to the center. Oops- no stereo. Does anyone have a solution? Other than reoutputting from FCP to create a real stereo file. Adobe-I AM CALLING YOU OUT!!!

If you are exporting a QuickTime Movie (not QuickTime Conversion) FCP simply copies the media (original clips or renders) in the case of a self contained export, or pointers to them in the case of a non-self contained (or reference) export.
If you haven't rendered, a render is performed and this is copied into the QT file. So you end up doing the render, but in the end, your timeline is unrendered, so you go thru the effort, but you only have the QT to show for it. In the case of an export of an unrendered timeline into a reference movie, the renders get placed in the QT movie file since they exist no where else...
    Does this answer your questions?
Oh, one more thing - if you are exporting to a format that supports alpha channels (most likely Animation - in which case you are probably using QuickTime Conversion), the alpha channel is only filled properly if you export an unrendered timeline because the alpha is not stored after you render your timeline.

  • Issue with transferring from Adobe Illustrator Draw to Illustrator on the desktop

I am having trouble getting my Adobe Illustrator Draw files to Illustrator on the desktop.
Here is the error: "The file "Project-Drawing 1.draw" is in an unknown format and cannot be opened."
I have updated my Illustrator CC 2014 and signed in to my Adobe ID. It works fine going to Photoshop but not Illustrator. I want to take advantage of the vectors and layers so I need it to go to Illustrator.

This error message can occur if you have a mismatch of Adobe Draw and Illustrator CC. Double-check that you have the latest version of both. The latest version of Draw is 1.0.1, and the latest version of Illustrator is v18.1.1.
    Hope that helps,
    Frank

  • Poor video quality when exporting from Adobe Premiere

Hey, I was just wondering if there was anyone here that could help me  with this problem I am having with Adobe Premiere Pro.
I have used it to edit a movie together with MOV video files from my  iPhone 3GS which are of decent quality but everytime I try to export it,  the video quality is degraded significantly from the original. I have  tried several different export options but none seem to do the trick.
Also, exporting with DivX just gives me an audio file with no video so I  have been unable to try that.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

Read Bill Hunt on a file type as WRAPPER http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037?tstart=0
Video from a cell phone is going to be HIGHLY compressed, and really is not suitable for editing
