Export from InDesign CC to PDF as separations

I want to export to an InDesign CC file to PDF as separations as I only want the black plate to display. How can I export to PDF as separations and not full colour PDF

InDessign doesn't support export to seps, but you can view them in Acrobat by turning on Output Preview (you can display them in ID using the Separations Preview panel). You print to postscript and distill (or print to PDF on Windows) and choose separartions if you really need to print them out.

  • Missing € character when exporting from Indesign (CS4) to PDF

I think the subject line says it all. I'm not an expert user, but have not previously had
this problem. I get a new iMac with CS4 reinstalled
and now 'lose' the Euro character when I export my Indesign files to
PDF - does anyone have any advice please? Thanks.

Even so - I don't know why - but the problem is with some fonts that the Euro doesn't show.
I always use the Euro font for the Euro symbol and never have an issue.
Even if you do manage to get the Helvetica Euro to show up in the PDF there is a chance it can drop out at the RIP stage and not appear in print - I've seen it happen far too many times.
    Euro font is your friend.

  • Export from indesign into a pdf (destinations)

    Hallo,
when I export a indesign file with destinations into a pdf and view in the pdf the destinations, I found that there is now a number added behind the destination. For this reason Links into the pdf does not work any longer.
eg: "dsrg.indd:article_10" changes to "dsrg.indd:article_10:637". How can I avoid the number at the end.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Why do my images go blurry when I export from InDesign to interactive PDF?

I am trying to export an InDesign file to an interactive PDF, but my images are going blurry.
    Everything else is fine.
    Can anyone help?

In the export dialog options, please reset the jpeg quality and resolutions to higher levels, and see the output results have improved. But be prepared to accept heavy pdf file size.

  • Exporting from InDesign into a PDF to be used in Acrobat question.

Hi, I'm trying to figure out if there's a way when exporting to PDF to leave fields open/editable(not the word im looking for) so that when the form is opened in Acrobat the form can be typed on/on top of, dont want to change/edit the actual document.
What i have is an InDesign doc, that just a form for college classes (things like Course #, Course Title, Credit hours, Final Grade, College, ect) So there are blank spaces in the Table we made that need to be filled in at a later date, those In past times the completed form would have just been printed out and the person filling it out would just write that in. What i'm wanting to know is if there is way that i can set up the document for export to the PDF, that the program recognizes that those spaces need to be left so that we can type in it in another program, like Acrobat. Its for college office work so our office ladies dont have indesign and use acrobat regularly.
I hope that makes sense i can try to explain again if need be. A pic of the table is attached.
    Thanks

Yeah that's the best bet, though if you don't want to make a bunch of fields, you can also just save it with the Typewriter tool enabled in Acrobat (Tools > Typewriter > Enable Typewriter Tool in Adobe Reader).  Then, the person viewing it will get a little typewriter tool that they can use.  I think they have to have version 9 of Adobe Reader.
But it looks the best to add in all the fields individually.
    Hope that helps,
    Phyllis

  • Exporting from InDesign CS3 to PDF: Headers disappearing

    Hello all,
I have a bit of a problem I can't seem to fix. I looked all over the support forums, documentation, etc., but haven't found anything that resembles this.
I'm trying to create accessible PDFs in Indesign CS3 (Windows XP). I tagged everything in the document, lined them up correctly in the structure pane, mapped tags to styles, and exported to PDF with tags enabled.
The problem is the headers (H1, H2, etc.) don't show up in the tags or content windows in the Order Panel (Touchup Reading Order) in Acrobat Pro 8. Instead, they show up with Span tags. Alt text for my images are showing up, which leads me to believe I'm doing something wrong.
I don't get it. Am I missing a step? Is this just an oversight that CS4 solves?
Also, InDesign's Structure pane doesn't correspond correctly with Acrobat's Reading Order. It looks to me like the Reading Order is determined by the order in which objects appear in the original InDesign document. Stuff that is sent to the back ends up at the top of the Reading Order in Acrobat. This is a big issue for screen readers.
Any thoughts? I'm at a loss. I'd rather not retag all my headers in Acrobat.
    thanks
    Kurt

  • Why am I loosing images when i export from InDesign to a pdf?

ON every page of my in design file i have a picture and a logo, when i export this file, I loose the logo on every page but still have all the photos. Can anyone help?

With no text insertion active you can hit the W key to toggle Preview mode, or use the button on the bottom of the toolbox.
it is a white logo on a black back ground
That's what I suspected. This is a fairly common problem with Illustrator art that started out as Black and was converted to White, and needs to be fixed in Illustrator. Most likely the Black was set to overprint and that carried through to the white on conversion. ID is smart enough to remove the overprint attribute when you do this, but Illy is not.
Right-click on the logo, then choose Edit Original... Does it open in Illustrator? (IF not, waht format is it?) If it does, select anything white and open the Attributes panel, uncheck the Overprint boxes.
White, or [Paper] in ID, is not really a color, but is the absence of color. The way it works is that it knocks out any color behind it, exposing the paper. Overprint means that the current color will print on top of the exisiting color without removing it, and so you are telling ID to put nothing on top of the color, so that's what you see.

  • Exporting from InDesign to PDF, and the updated PDF is larger than a month ago and not printing easily on letter paper, it is PDF presets?

    Hello,
I am exporting from InDesign to a PDF and the page is larger in the PDF then others I have exported. Is this because of the PDF presents? One of the project managers is not able to print it out on 8.5 x 11 paper, but the document presets for InDesign are the same as before. I wish I could upload the PDFs to show, but the newly exported PDF is larger than the version I created a month ago. I created a PDF binder and the newly updated PDF is almost a .5 inch wider with the same export presets. Any thoughts?

I suspect the project manager simply has his/her copy of Reader/Acrobat set to print at actual size, rather than "Fit" (assuming the InDesign page size is truly 8.5 x 11).
..the newly updated PDF is almost a .5 inch wider with the same export presets.
It would have nothing to do with export presets. How are you determining that half-inch difference?

  • How do I link to Anchor Text from browser to PDF file exported from InDesign?

I see that this question was asked previously but not answered:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3737541
I need a way to link to topics (from an HTML page) within a structured PDF file generated from InDesign, i.e. one that has an interactive bookmarks
panel, that doesn't break the links when the file is updated.
In particular, I don't want to refer to:
    *  page numbers because the document will repaginate when it is updated, breaking existing links
    * named destinations that are numeric as addition/deletion of topics renumbers the named destinations, breaking the links.
Is there any option in InDesign that creates named destinations derived from bookmark titles as that would seem to solve my problem?
I have a similar need, but I have not been able to find an answer anywhere online, even after a several hours of research.
I am on contract with General Electric to develop a UI Style Guide for an international team of developers. My client wants to be able to distribute the Style Guide as a PDF document, but needs to provide links to specific topics when submitting a "Story" in an Agile development environment to the programmers.
Ideally, I would like to be able to create "named destinations" in InDesign such that I can provide the client with a list of URLs similar to this format:
    file:\\StyleGuide\Test1-20131024a.pdf\#nameddest=AnchorText-01
However, I can not figure out how to create "named destinations" in the PDF file from the InDesign file in which I have created the Anchor Text in the Hyperlinks tab.
Alternately, the client would be satisfied with the ability to link to specific bookmarks in the exported PDF file that have been derived from the configuration of the Table of Contents styles, but my research has led me to believe that it is not possible to hyperlink from a browser window to a bookmark in a PDF file (only to specific page numbers, search word lists, named destinations, and comments) as described here: http://blogs.adobe.com/tcs/2011/01/tcs-specific/linking-to-a-page-within-a-pdf-and-more.ht ml
Having been using InDesign since 1988, when it was PageMaker, I would prefer to use it to provide GE with the most attractive deliverable, but they are now leaning heavily toward having me licensed with Madcap Flare, which has this capability built in:
    http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare9/Default.htm#Nav_Links/Named_Destinations/Creating _Named_Destinations.htm
Please help me to find a solution that will allow me to continue using InDesign for this project.
    Thank you!

Follow-up post (solution is not available):
I have just completed a phone call with Gaurev Sethi of Adobe escalated technical support in which I shared my screen to explain and demonstrate the desire to link from an external URL to a specific location within a PDF file that has been exported from InDesign. After 40 minutes, during which I was placed on hold a few times while he consulted with his team, it was determined that the desired functionality is not supported in InDesign and has been identified as a limitation of the software.
In researching alternate documentation software that supports PDF export, I discovered that Madcap Software supports this functionality in its Flare product:
    http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare9/Default.htm#Nav_Links/Named_Destinations/Creating _Named_Destinations.htm
Note that linking via URL to a bookmarked location within a PDF is not supported:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/tcs/2011/01/tcs-specific/linking-to-a-page-within-a-pdf-and-more.ht ml
More about parameters that can be specified to open PDF files are available here:
    http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/pdf_open_parameters.pdf
Although the above link is for a previous version of Acrobat, I could find no evidence to the contrary in the current SDK documentation.

  • PDFs exported from InDesign cannot be printed

Our Marketing Manager is using Adobe InDesign and exports her documents to PDF. These PDFs won't print in any of our printers in the office. It spools and then gets stuck and it actually makes our HP Coloured Laser Printer throw an error (error 79) and we'll have to restart the printer due to this error. We can print other documents and other PDFs in the printer so we know it's not a printer driver issue. In fact, we have isolated the problem to only PDFs exported from InDesign. Even if we create a blank document or add just text from InDesign and export it to PDF it still won't print. Really odd.
**I also posted this in the InDesign thread but was asked to post it here too. I tried printing the document using Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader with no luck. We tried printing directly from InDesign but it is inconsistent, sometimes it will print but most of the time it does not.

Hmm. Yeah. The ID forum may be more help. Especially if it's also a problem in ID.
My first suspect would be corrupt fonts or possibly an image file. Can you create a blank ID file with no text (maybe insert just an image or something that isn't on any of the other ID files) pdf it and print it?

  • Printing a PDF file that has been exported from InDesign

Hello! I exported a file from InDEsign to a PDF, but the entire document doesn't print... it get's cut off 3/4 down the way. My page size in InDesign is 5in x 7in and so is my page set-up in PDF when I go to print but it still gets cut-off.

    The physical paper you're printing onto - is it  5 x 7 or lettersize/A4
If you are printing 5 x 7 image area to a 5 x 7 sheet of paper, you would need a printer capable of boarderless printing. In general, no printing equipment can print to the edges of a sheet, and all vary by different amounts; inkjets having the largest non-print area.

  • Stitch lines created in a PDF/X-1a due to transparency flattening during export from InDesign

Has there been any sure fire methods to avoid the digital stitch lines created in a PDF/X-1a due to transparency flattening during export from InDesign? If I attempt to edit the PDF using the Acrobat Edit Text and Graphics tool the PDF is actually carved into sectors and images are not selectable as a whole. Also contrary to what I have read those white lines do indeed image from time to time. I could export as PDF/X4 to preserve the transparency but on occasion it would be advantageous to flatten it before supplying to the printer. Currently using CC and have done the usual things in an attempt to avoid the lines such as all text above transparent objects on a separate layer and 'Clip-Complex-Region' on export.
    Thanks in Advance!

If the default High Res flattener preset is stitching make a custom preset that's all rasters and use it in the advanced tab of the PDF/X-1a preset

  • Printing pdf exported from InDesign

When I print a pdf that I've exported from InDesign some of the graphic boxes or even text boxes that have effects, show up. They appear as a box with a subtle color a bit lighter than the background color of my design. These boxes do not show up on screen even when [view overprint] is on. The graphics are usually created or edited in photoshop with a transparent background so that only the image I want will be transfered to InDesign. Please HELP!

Thanks Daniel but this did not work for me perhaps because the following step was greyed out for me so I wasn't able to complete all the steps. I did try Claudia's advice to print image, that worked but it's getting a bit pixilated.
File > Print, and under Output, choose Composite CMYK, and CHECK the ?Simulate Overprint? checkbox. Under Advanced, select your all-raster flattener.
Maybe it's the way I created my original document, not sure.
    Thanks anyway!

  • Embedding font problems (when exporting from InDesign to PDF)

A message alert is shown, when opening a pdf - after exporting from InDesign: Cannont exctract the embedded Font Frutiger.
We have uninstalled the frutiger font and installed an open type. But the font is not embedded anyhow..?
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks very much.
    Jane

I don't know if you need help scripting this, but...........
If you can not re-create the PDF from InDesign using the OTF,
In Acrobat, highlight the text with the acrobat touch-up text tool, right click and go to properties. You should be able to assign the OTF font running on you system, and select the embed option.
If not, this is why PitStop is an indespensable (sp?) tool.
    Best of luck

  • Preserving Black when Exporting from InDesign to PDF

    Hi All:
I hope  someone who knows Acrobat can help me with this. I have an InDesign file  that I must export to PDF. That in itself isn't the problem. This is:
The  text in InDesign is solid black (000000), but once it exports to PDF,  it collects a myriad of colors and will not print preperly to the  newsprint. I'm doing this for a newspaper. I use InDesign, they use  Quark. The client uses InDesign as well. I can NOT figure out how to  convince Acrobat to leave the color alone.
I've tried to  figure it out with the Ink Manager, etc., but for the life of me, no  matter what I do, It comes out as all the colors of the rainbow. It  LOOKS black in the PDF, but when you select it, it is NOT black. It's a  mess. Two full pages of this stuff and I'll have to redo the whole  darned thing in Quark unless I can figure this out.
I have tried using "Preserve Black" once it's in PDF format, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Obviously I'm missing something in the Export from InDesign function, but I can't figure out what.
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks so much, in advance.

Okay. Above is the swtch from the original Color Preset. Below is the swtch after I made the changes mentioned above. I'm sure I'm not the only one who sees no difference. ??
