Export from running swf to eps?

I'd like to export, say, the current frame being displayed in
Flash Player (or previewing in the authoring environment) to eps,
ultimately bound for Illustrator. I know it can be done; Joshua
Davis boasts about it in one of Adobe's showcase panels. Easy
enough to do while authoring, but I'm looking for export at
runtime. Can anyone please help?

Yeah, i want to do the same too. Anyone have any idea?
Joshua Davis (

) did it with his work, anyone have any idea how he does it?

  • EMail Link in SWF exported from InD CS5 does not work

I'm trying to find a definitive answer on this. I have designed an interactive document in InD CS5 that has buttons and hyperlinks. When exported to SWF everything works except my e-mail hyperlink. It works fine in InDesign's preview pane. I've uploaded the file to my webserver for testing, the problem still occurs.
I found one post in another forum that quoted an Adobe InD developer stating that as of CS4 email links were not exported. However, I've not been able to find any mention of whether this works in CS5 or not.
Does anybody know for sure whether or not email links work in SWF files exported from CS5?

Sorry, no offense was intended. I had found references to problems with CS4, but nothing about CS5, and said as much in my post -- was frustrated that I had spent a long time looking and hadn't found any responses yet.
You mentioned using buttons rather than hyperlinks, and that worked for me -- but it might have just been a problem with my browser not properly reloading the flash file, too -- as I mentioned in my response.
But in any case, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUGGESTION!

  • Exporting to a .swf or .fla from InDesign CS6 - issues with timeline when opened in Flash.

    Hello,
Looking for help with exporting files for Flash. I have tried both .swf and fla exports from InDesign for the animations I have created. The .swf file will play fine in Flash player but I am having no luck using the .swf or .fla file in Flash. The .fla file will open in Flash but there is no time-line. I can import the .swf file into Flash, but again there is no timeline - all the graphics and elements are visible in the library.
    - Is there a particular way the file(s) have to be exported from InDesign in order for them to appear with a time line in Flash?
    - Are there particular do's and dont's when it comes to creating InDesign files that are going to be used as Flash animation?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Jamie

The page turning animations in an exported swf are accomplished via ActionScript—they are not timeline based tween animations. You might be able to decompile the swf and get to the code, but I've never tried it. Google SWF decompiler.
When you export to fla the animation ActionScript code is not included, so you lose the page turn animations. Each spread is saved as a MovieClip and the clips appear on sequential keyframes of the root timeline. With an fla it's up to you to write any animation code.

  • Illustrator error opening eps file exported from sketchup pro 8

When I attempt to use Illustrator CS6 to open an .eps file exported from Google Sketchup Pro 8 I get the following error message "the file is an unknown format and cannot be opened".    If I try to place/link the file I get this message "can't place the illustration. Could not set a position inside the file."  Any thoughts on why I'm having this issue?  Is there an eps version compatibility issue I should be aware of?

Hi Mike.  Here is the screenshot you requested.

  • Separated EPS export from INDD

I need to get INDD to generate a set of separated EPS files (ie one eps per swatch color that has been used), rather than a composite eps. Its not a standard export option. Does anyone know how to use scripting to do this. Thank you.

  • Export current running configs from several devices

We are currently running LMS 4.0 and have been collecting running configs on several of our devices.  Is there a folder that retains the running configs or do I need to run a report and export from the report?  If a report what report do I run.  I have been digging into the interface and I am not finding a solution so any assistance would be great.

CSM event viewer supports events from the ASA/FWSM virtual contexts ony if each context is discovered in CSM configuration manager with separete mangement IP.
Please try to discover the contexts as independent devices with separate management IP.

  • Export to flash swf from Slide Show module

If I work on a stunning slide show, with music et al, It would be perfect if I can export to a swf file and put it on a web site or left to clients on a CD.
Otherwise, as is now, I have to work twice: create a slide show and then a web flash site...

There is nothing you are doingt wrong, the web people need to check their Flash stuff, most importantly realyl include al lthe files you provide them with. there's a reason why it spits out 4 files...

  • Loading font from external *.swf

    So!
    I have 3 movies.
    1)Main movie - index.swf
2)Movie with created & checked in linkadge "Export for
runtime sharing" fonts in library - fonts.swf
3)movie with text fields which need embeded fonts to work in
a proper way. Fonts in the library checked in linkage as "import
    for runtime sharing" - content.swf
    What happens:
    I strike CTRL+ENTER and run movie index.swf.
on the (for ex.) 10 frame it loads fonts.swf with
    movieClipLoader class..
then in the same way on (for ex.) 100 frame, i load content
    swf
BUT!!! before it starts loading process IT DOWNLOADS FONT.swf
    again
SO HOW DO I PRELOAD fonts from external *.swf..
maybe there is yhe way without using runtime sharing..
but i've heard that loaded whith movieClipLoader movies don't
adds objects from their library to main movie liblary...
HOW DO I SOLVE THIS PROBLEM!

can you give your erroe source code, and then i will give you the success code.
    in the function
    private function onLoadComplete(e:Event):void {}
    ApplicationDomain.currentDomain.getDefinition("com.scottgmorgan.ExternalMovie") ;
    use like this:
    var EMClass:Class=loader.contentLoaderInfo.applicationDomain.getDefinition("com.scottgmorgan.ExternalMovie") ;
then you can new a instance :
    var emInstance:Object=new EMClass();
    emInstance.alert("hello word");
and we also can use other method. so email me  [email protected]

I stuck with an issue regarding data export from scopus.com. I have 61 keywords for which I want to export (as csv) number of documents by year, country, document type, subject area. Doing that by hand would be extremely tedious. Thus my question if this can be automatised. Unfortunately scopus does not provide an API to access the data directly.
So, the process to be automatised would be:
    1. Open http://www.scopus.com/home.url
    2. Enter the keyword in "search for"
    3. Click on "search"
    4. Click on "Analyze results"
    5. Click on tab "year" and "export". Save the file
    6. Click on tab "country" and "export". Save the file
    6. Click on tab "document type" and "export". Save the file
    6. Click on "subject area" and "export". Save the file
Do programs exist that help me retrieving the data?
    Thanks!

You could achieve your goal with bash and wget with some combination of --save-cookies --post-data.
But be aware that scopus is run by Elsevier, whom many view as the most evil of the publishing companies. Think twice before doing something that may annoy them.

  • Export Book as SWF - formatting (single page on screen at start)

Was this book created in InDesign? http://www.qub.ac.uk/edu/Summer%2010%20Newsletter/
I am currently working on an annual report and when finished want to save it in various formats, one being export to SWF with page turns. I successfully tested this earlier. The cover and subsequent pages of the report are all A4 size, however when exported as SWF it shows on the screen in my browser as landscape with a white A4 page next to the cover (to the left) and at the end next to the back cover (to the right). Why is this?
Is there any way of exporting it so that as per the link above it starts of as a single page of just the cover and then goes into side by side pages when you turn the cover over and start reading?
Also, different to saving an INDD as a print quality pdf, when I export to SWF the quality seems reduced, especially with the images (I used original tiff images as it will also be printed and saved as press quality pdf). Is there any way of keeping it as sharp as if it were being saved as press quality pdf?
Finally, like the link above, can we add sound in InDesign to the swf page turns?

That example you linked has most certainly been done from PDF file by using some commercial service which converts PDF file to digital magazine. You can do similar publications from InDesign CS4 or CS5 too. Check out http://www.prepress.fi/eDocker_eng ....
If you want to get rid of that white area next to cover/backcover, simply draw a rectangle that overlaps a little with cover/backcover page, and color it gray. Just make sure it´s little bit bigger than your page size. InDesign exports it along SWF and if you use exactly same grey that has been used in background of html, nobody can see that empty area any more... here´s a sample: http://www.prepress.fi/e_newsS10
Color values for that grey box are (in CS5) R153 G153 B153 (see images)
If you have InDesign CS5 in use, you can add sound files to you indd. I have never used a page turn sound, but in theory it should work if you put a sound effect to every page and make it play automatically when page is opened... is it fast enough or is there some lag caused by loading..? I don´t know but if you have a sound file in right format, it´s easy to test.... and remember to test it also from server, not just locally...

  • How can a mount a NFS share exported from OpenBSD?

    Hello Apple Discussions:
I've been experimenting with NFS in a mixed OS environment, and have been successful exporting nfs share with tigerserver, and mounting it on both a powerpc linux system, and on a powerpc openBSD system.
Likewise, I can export a NFS share from the linux powerpc box, and mount it on the openBSD box and on the tigerserver, although, the latter required using the options (ro,sync, insecure) in my exports file.
However, when I export a share on the OpenBSD box, I can mount it on the linux box, but not on tigerserver.
I would like for the OpenBSD box to export a NFS share securely, with read-write permissions, to the tigerserver.
After reading so many tutorials, that it would be a page of links, just to list them all, I am pulling my hair out. However, I have found one thread that suggests, that perhaps what I'm trying to do is impossible:
    http://www.bsdforums.org/forums/showthread.php?t=54308
Here it is suggested that the NFS won't work because tigerserver is not using UTF-8?
I will have to say, that I was somewhat alarmed, that the only times I succeeded in mounting an nfs share exported from linux onto tigerserver, it was when the "insecure" option is used in the /etc/exports file. There doesn't seem to be an equivalent for the linux style exports option "insecure", in the bsd style options of --maproot=user:group1:group2.
But I don't like using any options that say "insecure" anyways, so rather than trying to find out how to make openbsd "insecure", I would rather like to find out if there is a way to get tigerserver using UTF-8, at least when mounting NFS shares, if this is indeed the issue.
Here are the more technical details. I've created a user on all sytems named "fives" with the userid of 5555 and the groupid of 5555. I made the user local user in the local net info domain, but I've tried it with an LDAP user as well. The folders I wish to export and the folders into which to mount them are all owned by user fives and group fives, and have permissions set to 0775. The ip addresses are OpenBSD=192.168.222.111 TigerServer=192.168.222.233 LinuxPPC=192.168.222.253. I've included the relevant NFS setup files and running processes below:
    ON THE OPENBSD BOX:
    #/etc/exports
    /fives -alldirs -network=192.168.222.0 -mask=255.255.255.0
    /exports/fives -mapall=fives:fives 192.168.222.233 192.168.222.253
    #/etc/hosts.deny
    ALL: ALL
    #/etc/hosts.allow
    ALL: 192.168.222.233 192.168.222.253
    #/etc/rc.conf.local
    portmap=YES
    lockd=YES
    nfs_server=YES
    #here's proof that the daemons are running on the OpenBSD box;
    rpcinfo -p localhost
    program vers proto port
    100000 2 tcp 111 portmapper
    100000 2 udp 111 portmapper
    100005 1 udp 863 mountd
    100005 3 udp 863 mountd
    100005 1 tcp 613 mountd
    100005 3 tcp 613 mountd
    100003 2 udp 2049 nfs
    100003 3 udp 2049 nfs
    100003 2 tcp 2049 nfs
    100003 3 tcp 2049 nfs
    100021 1 udp 895 nlockmgr
    100021 3 udp 895 nlockmgr
    100021 1 tcp 706 nlockmgr
    100021 3 tcp 706 nlockmgr
    # actually, I don't see statd, but haven't found the equivalent in openbsd. There's rpc.rstatd, and maybe it should be listed here, but there doesn't seem to be a way to launch it directly. This is a competitor with the UTF-8 theory about why it's not working.
    ON THE TIGER SERVER:
    # here's proof that tiger server sees the mounts:
    showmount -e 192.168.222.111
    Exports list on 192.168.222.111:
    /fives 192.168.222.0
    /exports/fives 192.168.222.233 192.168.222.253
    # here's the result of user fives' attempt at mounting a share:
    sudo mount -t nfs 192.168.222.111:/exports/fives /imports/fives
    mount_nfs: /imports/fives: Permission denied
    # yet user fives has no problem mounting same share on linuxppc box.
What is different about OSX server? I thought it was supposed to speak NFS?
---argh... I'm steppin out for a pint.. Hopefully when I'm back it'll just work.

One thing not mentioned is that if you decide on the multiple user approach, you can have your music folder in Shared Documents so you only store the tracks once.
Each user is free to choose which of those tracks they want in their library.
There is an Apple help article on multiple users.

  • Error when opening swf from another swf

    Hi all,
I'll try to explain this as good as possible.... I made a maze game that works perfectly when I run it by clicking on it's own .swf file, but when I try to access it from another .swf file which is a menu for the games I created, it does not work.
I have absolutely no idea where to look for the error, so my question is: can it be that the main.swf (which is the menu for games) could be the problem, or the problem must be in the maze.swf?
    Thanx in advance!

no, all code is in the first frame of actions layer:

    Hi,
    I'm using BPC7M.
I found it strange that Export cannot dump data to a flat file though I'm pretty sure my selection of dimension members contain data. I tried Export in another application and it worked properly. Maybe there is something wrong with the application but I don't know how I can fix this.
    Thanks!
    Sunny

    Hi Sorin,
In order to make sure the sum is not equal to 0, I ran the "Clear" package and full optimize the application. Afterwards, I deliberately sent only 1 record. I ran the "Export from Fact Table" and I have the following contents in my output flat file.
    B_ACCOUNT,TIME,WED_ENTITY,DATASRC,CATEGORY,SIGNEDDATA
    KPI0001,2009.INP,DEP_INPUT,INPUT,ACTUAL,-500.0000000
This confirms that the sum is not 0. Then, I ran "Export" package. Yet again, I encountered the same error.
There is no data in the selected region; select a region that has data._2_True

  • Creating a "tabbed" image in an exported PDF or SWF

I posted about this last year, well in advance of actually doing it, and thought I had the correct answer (see http://forums.adobe.com/message/3759403#3759403). However, now that I've had a detailed look at CS6 and tried to create a "tabbed" PDF (my original term, but more correctly called a multi-state object with interactive buttons), I find that it can't be done. Although maybe it can, hence this post.
I'm trying to make a file (PDF, SWF, whatever) exported from CS6 that can be opened by virtually any novice computer user without hassle. i.e something like a PDF; something my grandmother could open and marvel at the cleverness of her grandson. Here are some options I've tried.
    Method 1
Export a "tabbed" image from CS6 to Interactive PDF format. Unfortunately, "tabbed" images don't tab. Or have I not ticked the right options when exporting?
    Method 2
Export to SWF format, with the HTML option ticked. But that seems to generate two separate files: an swf file and a .html file. Clicking on the latter opens the file in a web browser – so far so good, and it works like a charm – but I don't like the idea of two files when I send them to my grandmother. I suppose I could encapsulate both of them in a zip file, tell her to open that, and then open the one with the suffix .html… but you can see the process is getting complicated, probably beyond my poor old Nanna.
    Method 3
Export to PDF (Print). To get this to work for "tabbed" images, this is what I envisage (not yet tried).
Say I have three images that I want to overlay and tab between, like you can do in Photoshop. I set up multiple interactive buttons (Next, Back, Skip…), appropriate text anchors, and whatever else is needed, on three separate pages, with the three images in identical locations on those pages.
The user comes to the first image, checks out the image, then hits Next. The page seems to instantly change to the next image (on the next page).
The user then hits Next or Back or Skip.
In the above thought experiment, I think I have simulated "tabbed" images at the cost of additional pages. Any novice user could easily open the document, though I'd have to make sure the navigation is very clear and simple to use.
I welcome any comments on obtaining "tabbed" images from a document exported from CS6.

Thanks Bob. I posted a short while ago, but have edited that post.
With further playing around I was able to get your suggestion working (exporting to SWF, then placing, then exporting as Interactive PDF). Why would I be disappointed if I tried that method with an entire document? My document will probably contain about 200 pages, and maybe 20 of them would have "tabbed" images. What problems would I come across, other than the extra time involved in separately generating 20 pages of "tabbed" images.
    [Added after some testing]:
One problem I have found is that text is rasterised.
When I export a page from InDesign to SWF, and then open the SWF file in Flash Player (Projector), text is a vector.
When the SWF file is imported back into InDesign, and exported as a Interactive PDF, the text ends up rasterised…
But if I export as SWF, the text is not rasterised.
CS6 is rasterising the text within a SWF file when it exports to PDF. Is there a way of exporting an SWF file to Interactive PDF so that text is not rasterised?
