EXPORT from Windows IMPORT to UNIX

Hi,
in 10gR2, is it possible to EXPORT from a database on Windows in order to IMPORT to a database on UNIX ? If yes any caution or recommandation ?
Thanks before.

After 3000+ posts, you should be aware about the oracle doc site , http://tahiti.oracle.com and also that you should search over there first for the question.

The Export and Import utilities provide a simple way for you to transfer data objects between Oracle databases, even if they reside on platforms with different >hardware and software configurations.HTH

  • Export from linux  import to windows

    Hi,
I have a need to export perfstat from a linux database and import into a windows database. Is this possible with the differing operating systems?

    Please confirm:
    1) Your requirement is to install the PerfSTat user on the Linux machine, and get StatsPack running? or
    2) Your requirement is to transfer Statspack snapshots from Windows to Linux?
If 1), perhaps it would be wiser to simply install a fresh copy of statspack as described here
If 2), that makes no sense to me as the baseline is no longer relevant

  • Trimming HD video files for export from Windows to After Effects on a MAC

    Hi,
I have some .MTS files created using 2 HD camcorders:
    1) Panasonic HDC-TM700 which shoots full HD @ 1920 x 1080 and
    2) JVC Everio GZ-HM550 which shoots the same HD resolution
I am working with PP CS5 on Windows 7
I need to trim some small pieces (5 -10 seconds) out of many of the .MTS files to send to someone using After Effects MAC and FC Pro
In trying to keep the highest HD resolution of 1920 x 1080, the number of choices to select when creating a new sequence and then when exporting from PP is confusing.
Note: I notice that 2 clips I have in my PP project bin at the same time have different frame rates which I believe that 1 each came from my different cameras:
    file 1) 29.97fps 48000hz compressed stereo
    file 2) 59.94fps 48000hz compressed 5.1
Can anyone guide me here on sequence and export settings & codecs to maintain the HD resolution and least loss of quality on export?
Will the 2 different frame rates prior to export cause any issues? I'm assuming PP will re-interpret for output.
    Thanks

    > I understand the files are not compressed.
You misunderstand. The files are compressed. But they're compressed without losing any information. Losslessly compressed movies are a lot smaller than uncompressed movies---but they're still bigger than movies compressed with a lossy codec that would be more suitable for final delivery and distribution.
    > How long are the movies your associate sends you and approx what do file sizes look like?
I tend to work on individual clips that are from several seconds to a few minutes long. They're usually a small number of GB each. Don't fret about large file sizes for intermediate files. Making movies small matters when you're streaming them for final delivery, not when you're handing over a hard disk or using an FTP server to exchange files for post-production work.

  • Export from 10g import to 9i

    Hi All,
what I need is - I want to export the 10g data and import the same to 9i database.
I know that if we take the export using the 9i binaries ( client or db) we should able to do that, but I don't want to keep the 9i binaries only for this job.
Is there any other way to take the export from 10g and import the same dump in 9i?
    Thanks

Yes.. I don't want to do that also..over the network it would be slow.
See I checked this..looks like 7i and 8i there is one script to do the same, is anything like that exist for 9i and 10g as well.
    ==================
Different versions of the import utility are upwards compatible. This means that one can take an export file created from an old export version, and import it using a later version of the import utility. This is quite an effective way of upgrading a database from one release of Oracle to the next.
Oracle also ships some previous catexpX.sql scripts that can be executed as user SYS enabling older imp/exp versions to work (for backwards compatibility). For example, one can run $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catexp7.sql on an Oracle 8 database to allow the Oracle 7.3 exp/imp utilities to run against an Oracle 8 database.

  • Mailbox Export from Windows 7 Machine Not Working

    Good Morning All
We are running Exchange 2007 SP3 on a Windows 2003 R2 server. From my Windows XP machine I am able to use the export-mailbox command without issue. From my Windows 7 machine I am unable to run this command at all and receive this error "Cannot
    open the log file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Logging\MigrationLogs\export-Mailbox20140404-101249-2436620.log'."
Is it possible to use the export-mailbox command from a 64bit Windows 7 machine?

How sure about that are you?

I'm not installing a x86 Win 7 VM to test, so let's see what the OP comes back with !
Native PST import / export was added to Exchange in 2010 SP1.  Prior to that we relied on the Outlook bits.

  • Export from Windows Outlook into Mac Contacts

Sorry if this has been addressed earlier; I searched but couldn't find this specific matter.
Just purchased the Verizon iPhone for my wife. She had a prior AT&T iPhone, synched at office, where she works on Windows ... we are syncing the new one here at home on my iMac. I thought it would be a simple matter to export her contacts from the office Outlook (Windows) and import to the iMac's Contacts..BUT they don't appear to make use of any single standardized format. The Windows Outlook could export to PST (which is what it uses), or to Excel or Access. But Mac OS Contacts doesn't import from either of those.
I'd like to avoid, for obvious reasons, having to re-key all 800+ contacts into the system.
Is there an obvious solution that I've overlooked?
    Thanks

Since all Microsoft does is copy other's work, Microsoft copied Apple's lead as usual and incorporated vCard support with Outlook. Outlook includes an option to forward all contacts in the Outlook address book as separate vCard attachments to an email. Your wife can forward the email with the vCard attachments to a personal email address that she accesses with the Mail.app on her Mac or she can send it to herself with the work email address if she also accesses her work email address wit the Mail.app on her Mac. Save the separate vCard attachments received with the email to a folder created on the Desktop. Use the Address Book import feature choosing vCard navigating to the folder where the vCard attachments saved from the received email.
I didn't see that in her Outlook (she does have, I think, a fairly old version of Outlook). ... I DID send as e-mail attachments some individual vCard attachments, about 20, and was easily able to import them into our home Mac's Address Book. Are you saying there should be (or IS) the ability to export all 800+ address cards as vCard? That's what I didn't see (and believe me, I looked).
    Allan Sampson wrote:
Or if the contacts with her Verizon iPhone have been synced with Outlook, she can sync her Verizon iPhone contacts direct with the Address Book on her Mac via the iTunes sync process. If the Address Book on her Mac is used for contacts, she will be provided a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which she wants to select.
I did synch her new Verizon iPhone already with iTunes here at home on our Mac. Didn't see this particular list of contacts at the time. I'll take a look this evening again (she's at work as I write this). Her iPhone, I know, shows under Contacts all of the entries I have on my own (AT&T) iPhone, the same ones that are in the Address Book, AS WELL AS a separate Contacts list, which is the set of 800+ from her Outlook at work.
So, yes, it would seem as if there should be a way. "So close and yet so far."
    Thanks, Allan, for the suggestions.

  • Export From PC, Import to iMac

Well yesterday I ordered a brand new iMac Yay! Anyways, I have an External Hard drive that I will be carrying over with files and Photoshop stuff. But when I go to iTunes on my PC, would I select Export? I already but the XML file on the hard drive, but is that enough? Will I be able to just import that file and everything will be there? Tell me what I should do because I am not good with managing files like this. Step by step would be preferable Thanks.

From iTunes on the PC, choose Consolidate Library from the Advanced menu and then copy over the entire iTunes folder, placing it in the item named Music of the Finder's sidebar on the Mac.

  • Objects to be transported from Windows platform to Unix platform

    Hi experts
Our current development is on windows platform. and the production server will be on HP Unix platform.
I just wanted to know that is it possible to transport the webdynpro application and the portal contents.
Also wanted to know what all components need modification while transport.
Guide me the steps for the move.
    regards
    vija

Usually you shouldn´t have any issues transporting. Java bytecode is platform independent.
What CAN be an issue is the different endianess if you program yourself and assume, that the byte order is little endian - but if you stay on the webdynpro level you shouldn´t have any problems.

  • Intents wrong when exporting from or importing to Pages for iPad

Anytime I create a document on the iPad and export it for e-mail the indents are messed up when I open them with Pages on the Mac. The same thing happens in reverse direction too. Does anyone have a solution for this or is this a known issue?

It was the major reason I went with an iPad over a Windows based laptop. Portability and word processing. Unfortunately the "cross platform" issue with exported PDF's render the iPad useless as a business tool in that way.
    It's a shame really but I don't need a $800 toy, I need business tool.
If this singular issue got any attention and were fixed it would greatly increase the viability of the iPad as that tool but at this stage, it clearly is just a larger iPod touch.
How professional is it to have no cross platform functionality in a word processor. I'v actually found the program itself quite handy and very powerfull for a mobile WP app.
Or I could just pre-qulify all the businesses I do business with and ask if they use an OSX platform or Win based but that would really kill my business.

You should make sure though that
    - you will be using the same JSP/Servlet version in both places
    - you are not using components or code that relies on native elements. Like using the JdbcOdbcBridge driver is something to avoid.
    - you will have lots of time for testing.

  • Exporting from Access / Importing to Oracle9i

    Hi
I am trying to figure out a way of exporting an Access database to 9i. This is fine if I am just exporting text, I then use Access as the fromt end to Oracle. However I would like to export a database which hold OLE objects (i.e Word docs, and Excel sheets) into 9i and agin connect to it via ODBC with linked tables. Is this possible??? Does anyone know how to, or where I could find info on how to, I would be grateful.
Thanks very much and have a good weekend
    John

I think it's unlikely that this is possible. The ODBC protocol doesn't generally support the sending of LONG/ BLOB/ CLOB data, so Access is unlikely to know how to do this. Oracle's ODBC driver does provide support for these datatypes, but it is relatively unique in this regard.

  • Export from Windows Live Movie Maker to iTunes

Anyone know an easy way to convert videos created in Windows Live Movie Maker to an iTunes compatible format?

    Hi frostytosh,
I agree with MisterX. This can be done with Windows Movie Maker and its not very tricky. Just have a look on this Youtube tutorial video.
Also check the Windows Live page about Movie Maker with interesting article about the different features:

  • Import pst from windows as a working inbox and account

    Hi All,
I want to import my Outlook .pst from Windows into my new Macbook running 10.8 and Office 11
I followed the directions and exported from Windows a backup.pst, and shifted this over to the Mac.
However, when I import into Outlook it doesn't come up as a working inbox but as a folder underneath Inbox/Drafts/Sent/Deleted, and when I check in Prefs > Accounts, there is no account setup.
How do I do this? Do I have to setup the accounts first, and then do the import?
or do I import the working .pst file and not the backup.pst?
    Please help.
