Export HTML Documentation / Metadata repository

Hi,
I'm trying to download (or export) the generated documentation on the metadata repository to my local workstation, but I'm having a problem. The procedure I use (procedure that I found into these forums) is:
- On transport connection, I select the InfoCube for which I want the documentation to be downloaded.
- Right click -> export html documentation
The problem is that on the generated documentation, generated links are not correct. They all have a prefix "SAPEVENT" that doesn't allow the link to be followed and makes it erroneous.
Have you faced this problem? How can be extracted a subset of the metadata repository that works locally on a user workstation?
Thanks in advance,
David.

Hi all,
I recently discovered that on our production system the metadata repository export works perfectly on a local machine (it doesn't generate urls with sapevent string), while in our development system the thing is not working.
This should probably mean that it is all about customizing and configuration (cause both systems are on the same version and SP).
Does anybody know how to configure this in order to export the metadata repository properly?
Thanks,
David.

  • How to include BC documentation in the metadata repository

    Hi experts,
Currently, my bw 3.5 system doesn't display the business content documentation in the metadata repository, the one available in the help.sap.com sitie.
In the sap documentation is stated:
"To include SAP Content documentation in the online documentation generated for metadata objects, it must be installed in plain html http format for static help and using a Web server. The Content documentation can then be read by the Web server from any front end platform using the http protocol, and displayed in a Web browser.
You can find additional information about maintaining setting variants for online help (transaction SR13) in the Business Information Warehouse Implementation Guide (IMG), under the node General BW Settings ® Settings for Displaying SAP Content Documentation."
however I can figure out how to put the bc documentation in my metadata repository
I execute TC SR13, and has this entry in the PlainHtmlHttp tab:
    ONLINE-EN     WN32     IWBHELP     http://help.sap.com     saphelp_nw04/helpdata     EN   default is ON
I appreciate an step by step solution for my problem
    thanks everybody

I dont know if theres a way to do that....
I think is not possibl because if you want to open the web pages of help.sap is requered that your SAP system would have http connection directly to internet and at least by a security issue no recommended.....
    Use sap help in web....

    Good question, rozester.
I encountered this problem also, while trying to install the SSO MRCA 10.1.4.3.1 on 64-bit RHEL5 (though it's at version 5.7 but I'm positive that won't make any difference to the result).
This may or may not match your situation, but when I looked in the log file $ORACLE_HOME/assistants/repca/log/repca_<datestamp>.log, I saw what was probably the reason behind the error:
<$ORACLE_HOME>/bin/sqlplus: error while loading shared libraries: libclntsh.so.9.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I think I remember seeing that the link operation during installation had failed, but I hoped it would be OK. And it possibly would have been, if I'd remembered to specify the destination database Oracle home rather than the SSO MRCA Oracle home when prompted (on the page where it asks for database home and log file path). Perhaps then it would have used the sqlplus binary from the database oracle home, and since that one definitely works, it might have worked. But before I thought of that, I did a workaround; I installed the SSO MRCA on a 32-bit RHEL5 box (using the same directory paths) and copied the shared library files to the 64-bit box's shared library directory via scp as follows:
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/lib; scp -pr * oracle@rhel64box:$PWD/
When I re-ran $ORACLE_HOME/runRepca, it then worked without error. Another thing I could have tried is just running runRepca on the 32-bit RHEL5 box, and that probably would have worked too, but it probably would have been a lot slower compared to running it locally on the destination server; it's takes quite a while as it is.
Hope this helps. I'm sure it'll help me if next time I do this I forget what I did before and go searching again ;-)

Please let me know how this can be resloved...
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
As of 7.30 the BW Metadata Repository has been designed as a WebDynpro Application. It can also run as an imbedded process in the Analytic Workbench (RSA1). Due to the nature of this technology
a separate login to the WebAS is needed to establish a Web-Session on the local WebAS. However if Single Sign On for the target system is activated the WebAS may be customized to use it as well. In this case you would see no login screen when calling the BW Metadata Repository. Please also note that also all relevant ICF-Services for BW must be active (i.e. all Web Document services) to be able to use the repository normally. Please find here some useful links to relevant ICF and ICM
documentation which might help you to properly set up your system:

  • Documents in MetaData repository

    Hello All,
As part of our systemdocumentation we store technical documents in HTML format with BW objects, like InfoProvider, InfoObject etc. These documents are then visible in the metaData repository. Dose anyone know if it is possible to transport these documents across the system landscape or do we have to upload the documents in every seperate system (dev, QA and PRD) again?
    Many thanks
    Cerillo Smeets

    Hi,
Using the function area Transport Connection in the Administrator Workbench, you can exchange metadata between different systems. You can find additional information under Exchanging Metadata in XMI Format.

  • Metadata Repository mds-adf is not targeted to JMSServer-0?

    JDeveloper 11.1.1.4.0, Oracle database      11.2.0.1.0
We're developing an ADF application and I'm trying to activate MDS using the database. I've followed along with docs and this blog post, http://biemond.blogspot.com/2009/07/mds-repository-for-adf-11g.html, run RCU on my database, added Application Development Runtime. When I deploy my application, I get the "Deployment Configuration" dialog box, but when I hit the "Deploy" button, I get his message in a dialog box:
Warning! MDS configuration information appears invalid. Metadata Repository mds-adf is not targeted to JMSServer-0 or JMSServer-0 is a member of a cluster. Deploy anyway?
I hit yes, then I go to Enterprise Manager to see my MDS repository partitions, and I have no partitions found.
    Any ideas?
Edited by: Richard Cook on Jul 5, 2011 10:51 AM

On the EM front page, under "Fusion Middleware" I have "Metadata Repositories", with my mds-adf repository there.
Today, there is a repository partition, "idm_V2.0", put clicking on the glasses icon I get "This partition is not being referenced by any application".
My application "idm(V2.0)" is deployed to DefaultServer.

  • Applying 10.1.2.3 Metadata Repository update in 10.1.4.3 distributed IDM

Hi there, I seem to have a unique issue.
I have the following config of 10.1.4.3 IDM :
SSO in a separate Oracle home
OID in a separate Oracle home
DB (10.2.0.50) in a separte OH and metadata repository installed in this DB
and this is set up in ASR replication mode with other similer setup.
Task : Apply 10.1.2.3 OracleAS patchset.
    The story:
To be fully compliant according to Orcale we ned to apply 10.1.2.3 patch. This patch has two components - a software update and a Metadata Repository (MR) update.
I have applied software update to all the Oracle homes above (with the exception of DB ofcourse).
But to apply MR update I have to do it from a mid-tier OH that also has MR installed, I have none.
I tried installing MR update from SSO and OID oracle home but it would not allow me , I got this message :
The Metadata Repository Update cannot be run from the selected ORACLE_HOME.
The Update must be run from either an Identity Management with Metadata
    Repository installation ...
But we have no middle-tier using this MR, and from this metalik note, it seems applying MR update is not mandatory, only a desirable housekeeping execrcise . :
Understanding How AS 10g Patch Sets Update the AS Metadata Repository [ID 795143.1]
    Exract from that note :
    a. apply the binary update to each AS Oracle Home in the AS Farm.
    b. finally, if possible apply the MR update exactly once from any home that allows it to be run.
also from the same note :
Scenario 6: Applying the 10.1.2.3 AS patch set to a 10.1.4.3 Identity Management home.
The 10.1.2.3 AS patch set is a required patch set, as documented in :
Note: 465847.1 Oracle Identity Management 10g (10.1.4.0.1) Release Notes Addendum.
In this case, the MR Product schemas will not be directly accessed. It is however good practice/ housekeeping to apply the MR update in order to keep the MR in line with the binary patch sets.
    My question :
I am correct in my understanding that apply 10.1.2.3 software update only is neccessary, applying the MR update is only desirable house keeping and not mandatory ?
Would you say this is the correct assessment. if not how would you go about applying the MR update ?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

  • Using portal metadata repository for portal content - performance impact?

Oracle provides the Oracle Drive utility as a way of moving portal content directly into the portal metadata repository. The Oracle Portal Center site (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/index.html) provides links to several demos and technical papers that describe the use of Oracle Drive to copy file-based content into the Portal Metadata Repository (e.g., http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/pdf/cm_webdav_10g_webdav_clients.pdf). My questions are: (a) is this a best practice (b) are there potential performance problems with loading up the portal metadata repository with large volumes of file-based content?

    Hello
It depends on what you mean by "large volumes".
I use webdav scripts to create/update my files every night and it works fine. But it's rather slow.
    Questions are :
    - is it a one-time transfer to initiate Portal, and a regular one ?
    - how large are your files ?

  • Metadata Repository to read

    Hi BW Experts!
My customer would like to allow some users to use Metadata Repository only in BW Workbench.
So, I gave them the authority for transaction RSORMDR and assigned authority object S_RS_ADMWB - Metadata.
Now users with this role can not see RSA1, they can use t_code RSORMDR only, what is right.
BUT unfortunately Transaction connection, Business Content etc (buttons left side on RSORMDR) are still available.
Is there any chance to  limit Metadata Repository only for users?
    Customer is not using web...
    Thanks a lot!
    Points will be assigned!
    Helena

    Hi Helena,
Unfortunately the S_RS_ADMWB was not intended to restrict AWB/DWB navigation.
However, you could run the metadata repository in a separate browser, then no navigation to other parts of the administrator workbench would be possible.
    Here is the documentation on how to do it;

  • Export IDoc documentation

    Hi everyone,
I am aware of a Tcode WE60 which is used to export IDoc documentation based on the message/basic type in HTML format. Is there anyway to export the IDoc documentation in text format through this Tcode? Or is there another Tcode which allows us to export the IDoc documentation in text format?
I have tried searching for it but failed. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Alpana

    hi,
The best way I found to do this was to run function module 'IDOC_TYPE_COMPLETE_READ
' in SE37 test mode. It lists all details concerning the IDOC type required in table output format. You can then click on the output table contents required, for example SEGMENT_STRUCT contains all segment fields, their types, descriptions, etc. Then click 'Object > Display entire list' then 'System >  List > Save as > Local file' and select 'Spreadsheet'.
You then have a full list of all segments/fields of the IDoc in a spreadsheet to use for mapping/documentation, etc.
Hope this helps whoever needs this.

OWB repository tables is not documented publicly by Oracle.
The only method for extraction information about OWB projects structure and execution results is selecting data from OWB public views.
OWB repository public views are located under OWB repository database schema (DB user). For OWB11g this user is OWBSYS, for earlier OWB releases this DB user specified during creation of OWB repository.
If you use OWB11g please read this thread:
