Export Import Help Needed

Hi,
I have a situation where i have to export data/tables from Oracle 7.3.4.4.0 and import into Oracle 8.1.7.4.0.
Is it possible to export data from a lower version and import into higher version? I have never worked on Oracle 7 and Oracle 8.
Any kind of advice will be highly appreciated.

Yes: use export 7 to export and use import 8 to import.
Please read http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/A87860_01/doc/server.817/a76955/ch01.htm#4663.

  • Hi, need some export & import help

I am looking to crop a video and then export it, after the export I need to import it to a new project but within a specific pixel size. What would be the best export format and how can I adjust the size that the video is imported into? Or is there an easier way to modify the video without going throught the E/I process?

Can you give us a bit more info? What is your current Sequence Preset, and what is the size/format/CODEC of your Imported footage?
Now, you say that you wish to Crop that footage. Do you mean to actually Crop it (the Crop Effect or similar), or do you mean to Scale it down, so it's still showing the full Frame, but just smaller?
When you Import that Exported footage into a new Project, you do want it to have the exact size of the Exported file, and NOT fill the Frame on the new Project, right?
Are you, by any chance, creating a PiP (Picture in Picture)? If so, there are easier ways to do that, including the Crop.
Good luck, and with that additional info, someone can offer exact details on what you need to choose.

  • Large database import - help needed

    Friends,
We have received 1 TB external hard drive with 750 GB MS SQL server zipped backup file in it from our client. We need to import this database at our end and then write programs to retrieve data and push to another system. I am asking these questions from you
to figure out best possible way to import this database:
Ideally client would like a cloud hosted SQL server. But the concern is importing 750 GB of database into cloud hosted SQL server may take enormous amount of time. Do you think this is valid
    concern?
Another option we have is to buy a powerful machine (one with at least 16 GB RAM and Solid State Harddrives with space at least 3 TB). Then install SQL server on it and do everything on this
machine. Do you think this will be a better option? Can you suggest a server machine configuration that you know can handle database of this size? Also do such machines need any special expertise for programmers who have worked with databases of 4-6 GB on
    regular machines?
Thanks for your help in advance.

    Hello
I heard that you can send your SQL backup file to Microsoft by postal office so they restore to a VM Azure running SQL Server. That could be an option.
have a look to this site

  • Export/Import help required

Anybody guide me, my scenario is as under:
    1.     I have database FESCO in oracle 9i on Windows 2000.
    2.     Client has taken dump of schema through Export command with FULL= N.
    Exp fesco/password@fesco owner=fesco file=fesco_fullbkp.dmp Full=N
    3.     Now I want to know before importing from this dump file, what should I do on existing database, either I have to drop this user, which is containing the data or any other steps required

    >>yes i wana to import it on the same server, this dump was taken 2 days back and nowa i wana to import it.
If assumed that import will be on the same database and on the same server,
    1) Drop the user first (For safe side, take the export of this user before droping).
    2) create the user again and assing the same tablespace as default tablespace how it was earlier, and grant the privileges.
    3) use the import command.
    imp fesco/password@fesco fromuser=fesco touser=fesco file=fesco_fullbkp.dmp log=fesco_fullbkp_imp.log

  • Imovie08 - export settings help needed

hei - i'm new to mac and just edited my first movie in imovie 08. worked fine apart from the bug with the inconsistent ducking, but i found some advice for that here and gonna try this... however, i do have another problem in that i have no idea about the settings to export the movie.
my movie is 25 mins long, contains video (16:9), several music tracks and some stills. there are also subtitles, which should stay readable in the final version. the size of the project is currently 9.3GB on disk. it looks fine in the preview, but whatever format/compression i tried (even best) - the outcome didn't look as good... not to speak of file sizes being beyond good and evil. the video will be put on myspace, and i'd prefer if i could keep it as one file but myspace only allows a file size of max 250MB per movie.
the original project resolution is 960x540, which can be reduced to 640x360 for the final movie. i think .mov with h.264 codec is what is recommended everywhere, but i've no idea about the rest of the settings, and how they could influence the file size.
could someone please advise any combination of settings i'd have to choose in the various settings options, to get a final movie at best possible quality for online use, which will not be bigger than 250MB (if this is not possible at all, considering the length of the movie, then so that i could in emergency make two separate movies out of the project, but i'd be happier if it all could stay in one file). i'm also not the biggest tech wizard, so i would be glad if the explanations could be sort of simple
    thank you

could someone please advise any combination of settings i'd have to choose in the various settings options, to get a final movie at best possible quality for online use, which will not be bigger than 250MB (if this is not possible at all, considering the length of the movie, then so that i could in emergency make two separate movies out of the project, but i'd be happier if it all could stay in one file).
The controlling factor here is the file size limitation. A limit of 250 MBs means a 25 minute file would be limited to a maximum combined audio + video data rate of about 1.333 Kbps. This is lower than the preset target data rate for a "medium" (1.7 Mbps) file but higher that the "mobile" preset tart data rate (about 1.0 Mbps). So the maximum quality preset for a single file would be the "Mobile" option.
You could, of course, create a custom H.264/AAC export at 640x360 using a video data rate of about 1.2 Mbps with a stereo audio track at 128 Kbps and 44.1 KHz sampling rate. The quality of such a file will be worse than that of either a "Large" file preset or the "Mobile" preset. H.264/AAC is the most efficient compression format you can use here, so if this level of quality is less than acceptable for you, you will have to create multiple files.
Dividing your project into two parts would allow you to double your data rate target to about 2.667 Kbps. This would produce a 640x360 display file whose quality is better than that of the "Medium" preset but probably not quite as good as the "Large" preset which targets a data rate of about 4.0 Mbps. If this quality still isn't good enough for you, you would be left with the option of dividing your file in 3 parts and exporting/sharing each using the "Large" preset option.
The general rule here is that greater quality requires a higher target data rate using the same compression format at the same display encode dimensions. This, of course, means your files also increase in direct proportion with any increase in data rate. Larger dimensions work in a similar manner. Increasing the file display but holding the level of quality constant also requires a higher data rate. Increasing both display size and improving quality at the same makes your data rates requirements increase geometrically. Therefore, you, and you alone, must determine what constitutes a reasonable compromise here between display size, quality, and end file size.

  • Need help with database migration using export/import

    Hi,
I am planning to do a database migration from 8.0.6 to 10.2.0.4. I am using export/import. Please answer some of my queries:
    1) Do i need to do full export using SYS/SYSTEM user.
    exp80 system/manager file=c:full.dmp log=c:\full.txt full=y consistent=y
    2) Will there be any data corruption while export.
    3) Is export/import the only method of migration/upgradation.
    Please help
    Thanks.

I'll answer the specifics that I know about your questions, but please look at the post from Srini for additional info:
    1) Do i need to do full export using SYS/SYSTEM user.
exp80 system/manager file=c:full.dmp log=c:\full.txt full=y consistent=yA full export will move as much information (metadata/data) as possible. In order to do a full export/import, you need to do this from a
privileged account. A privileged account is one with EXP_FULL_DATABASE for export and IMP_FULL_DATABASE for import.
    2) Will there be any data corruption while export. The data in the objects that you are exporting is being read, nothing is written to user data. I'm not sure what this is available in 8.0.6,
but if you need a consistent export, look to see if consistent=y is available in 8.0.6. All this means is that the dump file created will have
    consistent data in it.
    3) Is export/import the only method of migration/upgradation.If you are changing hardware, the only supported way from 8.0 to 10.2.0.4, that I know of, is using exp/imp.
    Hope this helps.

  • Need help on ifs export/import

What is the best way to deliver an ifs database to a customer site where we do not have the ability to access our development machine? This delivery must take place via CD. In the past, we have delivered by exporting/importing.
It is my understanding that export/import is not an option with ifs?? I read in another post that this will be addressed in a future release. Any ideas on what release and when?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Import/Export support in iFS is planned for 1.2 release. However, Oracle in general don't commit to features of future releases before the actural release.

Extremely urgent help needed! I'm on a tight deadline. I'm working on a sequence, with all my settings set to DV. My client needs an AVI file as an output. After exporting using conversion, the file looks and plays fine, except for any transitions. At the start of each transition, there is 1 frame that is unrendered. I have rendered the entire sequence, and tried the export many times now, and I can't figure out what's wrong. I'm working on v5.1.4. Can someone please help?????

Thank you, kind sir! < </div>

The recommended way is to export the User Manager configuration template out (using the AdminUI), import it into your new enviroment (again using the AdminUI - you have to type the password of the LDAP user in since it is not exported) and then initiating an LDAP Synch.
