Export indesign pages as jpegs?

I can't seem to export my indesign files as jpegs in CC. I am able to export pdf's and eps files, but not jpegs or png files. There is no error message or warning, the dialogue box comes up as normal, but the files never export. Has anyone else had this problem? I have never had an issue in earlier versions of Indesign. Any help is much appreciated!

It's working for me, and I don't remember this being reported here before.
I'd suggest starting by restoring your InDesign preferences:

  • Export InDesign pages in jpeg, then rename the jpeg automatically.

How to rename separated jpeg files automatically ?
Exemple of my InDesign document :
    Page 1 :
         Product #26356
    Page 2 :
         Product #920009
    Page 3 :
       Product #910573
I need to export them in jpeg after for a technical reason. But, how to rename the jpg with the product #, without writing them one by one ?

I think a script would suit you best.
You could InDesign apply the Product code via the Text Variables.
And I think a clever scripter could use that variable to name your jpgs.
There is the Batch Convert script http://www.kahrel.plus.com/indesign/batch_convert.html
It's free - and it will convert your InDesign documents to JPEG.
But there is the additional "Run Script" and I think it might be possible to do it somehow.

  • Exporting InDesign page to email

Has anyone tried to export a page of an InDesign (CS4) document so that it can be emailed and easily read on an iPone, PDA or similar? What's the quickest and easiest way of doing this?

Not easy enough to read? Virtually everyone has a copy of the FREE Adobe Reader or (on the Mac) Preview. Sheesh!
The only other, much less satisfying way, would be to export a JPEG file.
Or, you could export the TEXT ONLY from your stories.

  • Can I use preview to export multiple page PDF as jpegs?

Using Preview, I export multiple page PDF as jpeg and results are the first page only as jpeg. Can I use preview to export multiple page PDF as jpeg for every page?

Automator is great for this if you need to export many pages to JPG, or just have to do this often.
Two other quick and dirty way sto get it done:
    (1) Enable thumbnail view, click on the ONE PAGE you want to convert to jpg, then choose "export." If you choose more than one page, only the first will get exported to jpg.
    (2) Create a copy of the file, delete all the pages except the one you want to export to JPG, and export that page. You may be able to "undo" the delete, get all your pages back again, and re-delete all but the one you want to export, etc. I would not recommend doing this on the original version of the file because of Preview's autosave so-called "feature."

  • When exporting eps pages from InDesign 5.5 how can I make them be T1.eps T2.eps instead of T_1.eps T

While building special tabs for my job, we have to turn in the pages for print with a very specific filename system. It's complicated so I'll try to explain...
    page 1 must be T1.eps
    page 2 must be T2.eps
unfortunately when I click to export the pages to eps InDesign insists that it add an underscore mark in there.
    T_1.eps
    T_2.eps
    etc.
is there a setting that I haven't located yet that explains to InDesign that I do not need/want that underscore in there?

Not that I know of. I assume it's scriptable, but instead of writing a custom Javascript export tool I usually use something like Bulk Rename Utility to enforce that kind of naming convention.  (Mostly because my four biggest clients each have their own complex and idiosyncratic file-naming conventions. Scripting it in ID would take more time and be more failure-prone for me than using an already-existing free utility that has regex support and eighteen million options.)

  • Exporting album pages to folder as JPEG...not working

I am a professional photographer and use aperture to deign my books.  Since I have upgraded aperture I am now unable to export my album pages to a folder as a jpeg.  I can only export them as PDF's through the mail program which greatly decreases the image quality.  Below is the error message that I get.
I keep doing aperture updates thinking they will fix the problem, but they don't fix it.
    Can anybody help me?

How do you do the export "album pages to a folder as a jpeg"?
For me it works fine, when I use "Print > Print to pdf > Save PDF to folder as jpeg": Aperture 3.3.1, MacOS X 10.7.4

  • Export multiple pages in InDesign...

Did anyone try to export for print (this means with all the bleeds, marks, color coding, etc etc...) an entire magazine into single pages?
I found various solutions but non are realistic. I shoot with a D800e and D810 (this means massive 36 megapixel files) and each page can contain up to 10 or more images making each page incredibly heavy! (why am I telling you this?) one of the solutions is to export the entire document in one single pdf and then extract each page from Acrobat X ... this is obviously impossible for the massive amount of data.
So my question is can I export the whole magazine in one shot into single files? or I'm doomed to export single pages each time
    Thanks
    Sergio

    Hello Peter,
I shoot with a 36Mp camera because not all the times you'll be using the whole image. Many times there is a crop of that image and obviously it has been compressed and cut (using a full size image has no sense) The final file 1:1 is 300Dpi and to reply to  Dov, yes the export is done correctly in JPEG.
But this is not the point... let's make an example. a magazine 250 pages, all done (images, text, etc etc) is ready for the printer that requires single pages with bleed and slug (markers etc etc) imagine that the pages can contain up to 5 images each (this means something close to 1200 images) is there a way to export each single page separately with one command? If you ever exported in jpeg directly from ID (to create a file to view or send in email for approval as an example...not related to print!) you'll see that ID creates separate files for each page (obviously no JPG contains more pages) but I know that there's a script that allows the same thing in ID. It will export the whole file with multiple pages in single PDFs.
Thank you Peter and Dov for your kindness and for your time

  • InDesign CS 5 exports double pages

I have a 20 page document in InDesign CS 5. When I export to a interactive .pdf file, it has two pages on one. I only want each page in my file to export to a single page in the .pdf file. In other words, I want my .pdf file to have all 20 pages separate. What is the setting to get a one to one correspondence?
    Lou

    Lou,
I'm a bit late in the game here, but I'm having the opposite problem. However, I think that in the process of trying to solve my issue, I may have solved yours. "May" being the operative word here since I'm on an iMac and I don't know if the glitches are across platforms.
    FOR YOU TO TRY:
Since you want single pages and I'm assuming page numbering (left/right) isn't important to you, try going to your document setup (on OSX: File / Document Setup), and uncheck the Facing Pages selection box (mine is selected in the image below). Export using Single Page or Single Continuous and your readers should be able to print each page separately.
I did notice a similar response regarding creation of a totally new document. If that didn't work for you then this probably won'y either. Apologies, because I understand your frustration.
Unfortunately, this doesn't fix my problem as I need my page numbers to appear correctly AND I need a single PDF file that will display in single AND facing pages layout, not one or the other.
MY ISSUE IN CASE ANYONE KNOWS THE REAL ANSWER:
I am working, by choice, on a facing page spread. Normally, when I export to PDF I can view my document in single or facing pages. Since upgrading to InD5 last year, when I export to PDF my facing pages are "stuck" together and will not separate no matter how loudly I shout at my PDF file.
So, my cover page displays in portrait mode with subsequent pages stuck in landscape, forcing me (and my clients) to change zoom levels AND shift the page to see left page/right page. As my project is necessarily linked and cross-referenced, this screws with the view each and every time one needs to navigate through the document AND be able to read without changing the zoom level.
I get the same results whether I export using Single Page layout or Two-up layout - any configuration. I'm annoyed because I don't know how I'm going to explain this to my client, especially since they are in the middle of a new accreditation review and this document is due in a couple days.
I've ignored my husband (just back from three years in Afghanistan), my daughter, and my cats for three days trying to find a solution short of reinstalling InD3. Exporting each page separately and restitching them to a single PDF won't work since I need the interactive components to work.
    ANYONE???

  • Multiple Indesign pages to Flash

    Hello,
I'm creating a interactive cd in Flash.
In my flash file is a movieclip that consists 103 frames. Every frame is a different page.
I'm using Indesign to create this pages because its the best way to work with so many different pages.
When I export the pages to .jpg everything looks and goes wel. Only the quality becomes very low when putting the swf to fullscreen.
I've tried exporting it as .swf but is it wisely to put 103 .swf in a flash file? I'd like to keep the text vector and readable on every screen size.
Does anyone have a good workflow for this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Thuuske

I believe that as long as your swf's do not have any actionscript in them, you will fair much better haviung 103 swf's versus 103 jpeg files.  Using native graphics in Flash swfs normally saves a bundle of file size and you get the vector graphics as well.  As soon as youy introduce jpegs, tyou need to get their resolution up tot a level that has them presented clearly, which usually means increased filesize.
One thing you might try before you change to trying swfs, if you haven't done so already, is to make sure you have the Allow Smoothing option assigned for all of the jpegs.  This can help resolve matters of images looking bad at different sizes, though upsizing is more often the dangerous direction to head.

  • Exporting InDesign Book to Epub (general questions)

    Re: InDesign CC
    http://www.mobipocket.com/dev/article.asp?BaseFolder=prcgen&File=opfguides.htm
    http://www.mobipocket.com/dev/article.asp?BaseFolder=prcgen&File=cover.htm
I've created a 366 page book using about 32 individual .indd files and have some general exporting-to-epub questions.
    1. Images.
My images are placed .ai and .psd files that have names I can understand, such as picture-of-this.ai and picture-of-that.psd. When InDesign exports to epub, the images are renamed to something that a species whose native language is binary can understand. For example, this and that get renamed to 12345.jpg and 67890.jpg. And then there is also a funky naming convention that keeps the original name but adds _fmt.jpeg to it.
Is it possible for me to export to epub and keep original file names?
    2. content.opf metadata
Ultimately my epub needs to be converted into Kindle format. Amazon provides a Kindle Previewer that converts the file into their required .mobi format and that works, but some minor customization is required to get it to work right. The minor customizations include assigning the cover page, the table of contents (toc), and in my opinion, an even more important start page.
My cover page, toc, and start page exist as individual .indd files.
According to the mobipocket references (provided above), I need to add a few items to the content.opf file:
    For the cover:
    <metadata> <meta name="cover" content="my-cover-image" /> </metadata>
    <manifest> <item href="MyCoverImage.jpg" id="my-cover-image" media-type="image/jpeg" /> </manifest>
    For the table of contents:
    <guide> <reference type="toc" title="Table of Contents" href="mytoc.html"/> </guide>
    For the start page:
    <guide> <reference type="start" title="Start here" href="starthere.html"/> </guide>
So, I can use Dreamweaver easily enough to open the content.opf file and manually insert those codes, but is there a way I can pre-code their key values into the InDesign page so that they are automatically placed in the proper positions on export?

    Hi Michael.
That's a good suggestion about inserting jpg's into the InDesign document and then exporting to epub. I've done that before and it's worked quite well, especially with consideration to file size. However, this particular book has over 130 graphics and it's also going to the printing press... so I'm trying to keep my workload to be as efficient as possible. So you wouldn't have known that, and again, that's a great suggestion.
I have not been able to get that plugin to work, and it's also no longer necessary. Kindle has a previewer that automatically converts the file to .mobi format, and allows the user to view the .mobi file through viewing screens that represent the Kindle device:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000765261
Thanks for the info on the ALT text. I need to do that.... I've also looked through the File Info window tabs and did not find any area that seemed to allow me to enter that information.
I have previously created and published on Kindle one book that was one single InDesign file, and as you suggested, had the cover and TOC with everything else. Unfortunately, there too, I had to manually enter the cover, start, and toc code using Dreamweaver.
It looks like at this time there's no easy way to get around manually updating the .html files.
Thanks for making the time to reply.

  • Trouble getting InDesign pages into iPhoto

For years I have been designing iPhoto book pages in Adobe InDesign CS3 and using the "Save PDF to iPhoto" option in the printer dialog box to export them to iPhoto. I might add that as an interim step, once I select that option, the page goes through an automator work flow that first changes the PDF to a JPEG image and then exports it to iPhoto. In changing the PDF to a JPEG, I maximize the resolution to 300dpi in the Automator settings and I get really good results. However, that was when I used OS10.4. I now have OS10.6 and because of some security enhancements, the "Save PDF to iPhoto" option is no longer supported with InDesign. Adobe recommends a workaround as follows: Export the InDesign page to the desktop as a PDF and open that up using Preview. Then, you can access the "Save PDF to iPhoto" option in Preview's print dialog box. This works fine with one big exception. The PDF bypasses the Automator workflow and goes directly to iPhoto minus the important resolution enhancements that Automator previously provided. I have no idea why it would do this. Any suggestions as to how I can assure the PDF accesses the Automator workflow before en Thanks.

Make an Automator workflow to do the transition to Jpeg yourself?

  • CS 5 exports two pages at a time instead of one.

I copied the following script from the Internet into notepad, saved it, and renamed it "spreads.jsx". I put it into my scripts file. It didn't do anything. app.interactivePDFExportPreferences.exportReaderSpreads = !app.interactivePDFExportPreferences.exportReaderSpreads
I removed the facing pages check. My pages still exported two pages to a page. I then created a new document without the facing pages checked. I copied the 21 of my original file into the new file. It still exported two pages on one.
    >The only way to get non-facing pages to stick together is to disable page shuffling and drag them together in the Pages Panel, and that
    won't happen accidentally.
I turned off shuffling, and that didn't help either. It was unclear what to drag in the Pages Panel.
I'm now past my deadline for the newsletter and can use anybody's help so that I get an output in .pdf for single pages, so people can print out the file and have a single page on a single sheet.
    Lou
First, here is my screen shot of the resulting .pdf file from exporting my 21 page document
Second, here is the screen shot of my pages panel.
    Next, the export dialogue:
Here is the scripts dialogue box.

Someone, maybe you, suggested I start a new thread about the video. I
posted it to the forum under:
"I solved the export single page issue and now my videos won't work." Here
    is the text:
    I have  windows 7 for 64 bit.
I ran  a script on my InDesign CS 5 document to solve the problem with two
pages  appearing on one .pdf file.  When I  clicked on it, here is what I
get “Spreads are now ON in Interactive PDF  Preferences.”
I get  two pages stuck together in my interactive .pdf file. I don’t want
that because  it prints to pages on a single sheet and I want each page to
print separately.  However, my three .f4v videos appear the way I want and run
perfectly, even  though I got the error message, “One or more interactive
elements are clipped in  ways that PDF files cannot reproduce. Those elements
will be adjusted in the  exported PDF. “
When I  click on the script again, it says, “Spreads are now OFF in
    Interactive PDF  Preferences.”
The  pages are the way I want. Now my videos don’t behave. Video 1 vanished
into a  red border with blank inside. Video 2 has moved half way up the
page, covering  two photos, but it plays. Video 3 has just white space in its
    position.
Next,  I tried another script. When I ran it I got the message, “Shuffling
pages will  remove some page transitions. To avoid this message in the
future, uncheck allow  Document Pages to Shuffle in the Pages panel. Select OK to
continue.” I hit okay  several times and the message kept appearing again
and again. I finally clicked  “Don’t show again” and it went away. I got the
same error message as before. The  videos are all screwed up, like before.
I  toggled that script and exported again, and got the same error message.
This  time, as before, the videos were messed up, but this time one of the
videos was  off the page, but played.
Is  there any way I can keep one page to one in the .pdf AND have my videos
    work?

    Lou,
In order to properly diagnose your problem it is  ESSENTIAL that ID is
behaving in a known and predictable way. This means  that if you ran the
first script, the one that Stix recommended, and ran  it only once and then
deleted it, you MUST reinstall the script, and run  it again to reset the
export behavior to spreads so we know what's going  on. You should see a
    new
dialog telling you that exporting spreads is  active when the script runs.
Until you do that, we really can't  tell where the problems with things
    moving might be coming  from.
I design for print, and I've been working with InDesign  since it was first
released, switching my production work from Quark  Xpress to InDesign when
    ID
2.0 was released about 10 years ago. Before  going freelance as a designer
    I
worked a few years in print shops learning  from other people's mistakes
    (and
learning how to fix most of them), and  did some newspaper and magazine
production. Quite a bit of what I know  about InDesign I've actually
    learned
here. For the first few years I read  every post, and if I didn't already
know the answer I tried to figure it  out. Even now, though, I usually
    learn
something new at least once a  week.
As I just mentioned, I design for print, so the interactive  stuff is a bit
murky for me, too, but if we can get you to a known state  and see if
    things
are where they belong, someone who does interactives all  the time may be
able to help more. I don't know about the warning you get,  but I suspect
    it
    is  significant.

  • Is there a way to export individual page items as PDF or EPS?

I have a long document, all threaded, with a bunch of inline graphics. Many of the inline graphics have callouts and pointer lines. I take the graphics, callouts, and pointers, group them, and then cut and paste the group inline into the text flow. I want to be able to tag the graphic (complete with pointers and callouts) for an XML export. But I cannot tag a grouped object. I remember learning at the PeP conference in May that one way was to build the graphic with callouts in AI, and then place it into ID. But I already have an established workflow, with hundred of grouped inline objects in my ID docs.
So I was wondering if there is a script that will allow me to export individual page page items as PDF or EPS. I know that you can export page items as JPEG, but I don't want rasterized text. Please assist. Thanks.

  • Exported PDF page size too large on screen

Fairly new to InDesign ( and loving it )
I am creating a document using InDesign v5. which has a page size of 8.5 x 11 in and two pages to a spread.
When I export a page or a spread to PDF the page or spread will print fine BUT when I view this PDF on screen at 100% the size is quite a bit larger than 8.5 x 11 in
can anyone explain why and how I can view the file at 100% on screen AND at the correct printing size.

    Try this in Acrobat.
Edit > Preferences (Win) or Acrobat > Preferences (Mac). Then select Page Display > Resolution > Use System Setting

  • Export single-page pdfs with page name

I've been looking for a script that:
    - exports every page of an indesign file to a seperate single-page pdf (or other filetypes)
    - names the pdf with the name of a page -> this is the hard part to find
The reason i could use it: i have a 200+ page file with productspecs. I would like to export every page with the correct productname. (extracting pdfs in acrobat is not a problem, but then i have to manually rename every file)
I'm not sure how to name the pages, as it's not a function in indesign. Ideal would be to be able to "tell" indesign: this textframe = the pagename, so it wouldn't be necessary to label the page seperately.
I'm not a scripter. I searched the forum and found some info on this already, but not a working script including automatic pagenaming.
I did found an old post where someone points to such a script, but i can't find it:
    http://www.techplex.net/postsm40018_possible-to-name-pages.html#post40018
Did anyone ever made/found/used such a script?
