Export iPhoto to iWeb photo size

Hi everyone,
When I try to export from iPhoto to iWeb, the website created only includes lower resolution images. (The original is 10Mpixels, the website only goes up to 800x500.)
Is there a way to get the full resolution images in there?
Thanks!

  • IWeb photo size

    Hello,
I am trying to insert a photo gallery onto an "About Me" page. What I've done so far is to copy a photo album from an Album template, and paste it into the About Me page, then drag and drop the photos into it. The problem with this is A: the photo gallery becomes larger than the page, and is therefore cut off (the page won't change it's size to accommodate for the item) and B: the size of the pictures in the Gallery field are too large to fit in the space I want them to. Is there any way to change to the size of the photos/photo gallery field? and how can I make the webpage adjust it's size to fit everything in?
Your help and advice is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

There are a lot of applications for resizing photos. I use ImageWell....

Turn off "Optimize images on import" in iWeb preferences.
Increase the page width in the Page inspector Layout window.
A good width for general viewing on the internet is 980 px.

  • IPhoto keeps reducing photo size when I crop (from 3MB to 500KB).  I want to keep the edited versions at the higher MB size!  Any help with this?

I've been using iPhoto for years with good success.  Recently, when I edit and crop artwork photos, it's been saving the cropped photo as a much smaller version, going from around 3MB to only 500KB or smaller.  I need the cropped version to be as big as the original.  Not sure why this is happening but could use some help in making it stop.  Thanks!

    Hi,
I know that I'm cropping the physical file but in the past this wasn't an issue for the size of the cropped piece.   Even if I take just a little bit away, the file size is somehow getting deeply reduced.  Resolution is still fine on the screen or for a quick email,  but for when I need to make a high quality giclee print for a client, the 500Kb size just won't do.  I need to retain the 2Mb original quality.  I'm attaching the examples here.  And thanks so much for helping !

  • Iphoto making the photo sizes to Zero.

I've a photo library on an external harddrive (WD digital Passport drive) which is always connected to my MacPro laptop. I've been storing photos on this since 2008. When I launch iPhoto, it automatically opens the library on the external drive. Lately I have been seeing that some of the events are being shown with no thumbnail photo in iPhoto. So I further investigated and went into the file system (Originals folder) and looked into the folder. I was shocked to see the file sizes were zero . The names of the files are intact. The last modified time seems to from past. Not sure what is going on here.  There are lot of files in lot of other events folders with file size zero. Not sure what happened. My understanding is that the data might be still there but the matadata is currupt. It could be something to do with the upgrade or something else I recently did. Not sure how to fix it.
Did anyone else run into this problem? Did you know the fix for this problem? Any ideas how I can recover my photos?
    Thanks
    EZ.

    The file system is fat32.
IPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, saving edits and sharing the photos.
Without a back up I'm afraid you have a bad situation.

  • How can I add images which are not in Iphoto to Iweb photo gallery?

I have many photos that I have not imported in Iphoto just because I worked on them with Photoshop and downloaded straight from the camera memory cards with a card reader. If I add the image from the disk with the add/choose command (or insert/choose: I have the italian version and I do not know what is the English original command...) the image is just attached to the screen but not inserted in the thumbnails of the gallery.
    Please help.
    Thanks

  • IPhoto to iWeb i (information) about picture

I drag and dropped my iPhoto album to iWeb. But it did not bring along the additional information. If I export iPhoto, the additional photo information does go too. But it's not as pretty as iWeb.
So, how do I get the additional photo information to show up iWeb's photo album? I scanned the current posts for iWeb, but did not find anything like this in past discussions.
    Thanks
    Bob

Not quite. Want the information you can enter at the i (information) clickable. The one on the lower left. It's just righ of the + sympol. Lets you type in text about the photo. With iPhoto and export you can choose to show this information when the person viewing on your web site clicks to enlarge the photo. It's that info I want to have when using iWeb to pretty up the iPhoto photo album for web posting. My site is www.jampro.com. the link is http://www.jampro.com/Photos/Photos.html. This was exported from iPhoto and hand edited the top and bottom directions for each page. I was hoping iWeb would do that for me and let me make it look nicer. Haven't figured that out yet.
One other answer has an apple script to try. Will look at that when I have a few minutes.
    thanks,

  • Export photo info from iPhoto to iWeb

I would like to attach information to my photos using the information box in iPhoto. But when I export to iWeb, the only information that transfers is the title. Is there a way to include this description in iWeb? I know I can use the caption feature in iWeb to add more text, but I want it attached to the photo so I don't need to reenter if I move it around, etc. THANKS!

I use ImageWell to resize my images before loading into iWeb. I also use it to add captions and © notices to the photo itself.

I wouldn't and don't rely on iPhoto or iWeb to optimize image sizes.

  • How to get iPhoto '08 to export comments as part of iWeb photo page?

I've got an event in iPhoto '08, and want to export it as a photo page (darkroom template). It exports all the photos and titles, but not the comments from iPhoto. I cannot figure out how to make it export the comment. Where is the setting for this?
It's very easy in iPhoto to export as a regular html with the comments, but somehow not to iWeb.

    Marguerite:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There's an Applescript that will take your comments and put them in the title field in iPhoto. Then when you create the photo page in iWeb the comments will be in the title field and will be displayed. Once the iWeb page is created you can go back in iWeb and use the Photos->Batch Change->Title to File Name menu option and get the old title back.
Here's where you get the Applescript. Be sure to read the comments to see where the one error, regarding the Å character that is in the script: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20070822121100394&query=applescript %2Btitle
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Exporting from IPhoto 6 to folders on External HD changes photo size WHY?

I have read your replies to other questions about having photos reside on an external hard drive and understand what is said. However I have a problem with the size of the photos changing once I have exported them to a new folder on the external HD. Please read my issue and help me if possible.
I have IPhoto 6.0.5, I recently purchased the upgrade and installed ILife 06 without problem.
Because I have been running out of HD space on my Powerbook G4 I decided that I wanted to put all of my photos that are in the IPhoto library onto my external drive. What I did not want to do was just copy my whole library all at once.
Instead in IPhoto I went to File and Export, chose my external HD and then created a new folder with the same name as the folder I wanted to export. Then I exported and waited for it to complete.
I had no problems doing this and successfully copied all my folders from IPhoto, some 7,000 photos.
Now that I have all the new folders on the external HD my goal was to be able to open and edit/adjust any photo using Photoshop and Bridge. I have recently learned that Bridge gives me a lot more options than IPhoto.
I really want to get away from using IPhoto for anything except for creating cards, calendars and books with the new ILife 06 program.
I have not deleted any of my photos from IPhoto just yet, to be on the safe side.
I have been shooting with a Nikon D70 camera and I normaly shoot with the camera set to take both a "Fine" jpg and a NEF photo at the same time. When I downloaded these photos to IPhoto the result was that I have two photos of the same image with the photos labeled automaticaly in numerical order. Here is an example: DSC_0001.JPG and DSC_0001.NEF
When I go into IPhoto and click on DSC_0001.JPG and look at the size information of the image it tells me:
    Format JPEG Image
    Size: 2000 x 3008 and 658KB.
When I click on DSC_0001.NEF and look at the size information of the image it tells me:
    Format TIFF Image
    Size: 120 x 160 and 5.4MB.
Now when I go to my External HD and check the same information for the same photos this is what it tells me:
    DSC_0001.JPG:
    Kind: JPEG,
    Size 1.2MB on disk
    DSC_0001.TIF:
    Kind: TIFF Document,
    Size 148KB on disk
As you can see several things have changed during the exporting to the new folder on the external HD.
First the photo that is supposed to be the JPEG is now 1.2MB
Second the photo that is supposed to be the TIFF is now 148KB
Also notice that the largest file is no longer 4.5MB but 1.2MB and it says it is a JPEG.
Do you know why this would be happening?
Do you know how I can export a folder of photos from IPhoto to a new folder on my external HD and not loose or have change any of the size and kind of photo??
I am hoping that you can shed some light on the situation.
    Thanks for your response,
    Brad

What settings did you use in the Export Dialogue?
When you go File -> Export you get a tabbed box with various options. In the File Export tab you can choose to scale the pics, or keep them the same size, change or retain the format.

  • Compressing photo size in iphoto - want file size small but pic big? how?

    Hello
I hope this is the right section for this post.
I am building a website and I want photos on it, I am building it in iWeb.
in iPhoto is there any way of making my photos a smaller file size?
I have cropped them a bit, but some are still about 400kb.
I want my site to load quickly.
I want a gallery page with thumbnails to click on to enlarge them, but on my home page I want 1 big picture. What is compression and can i do it in iPhoto? Can I still have a picture the same size (to look at) but the file size is smaller. I have heard photos should be about 30-70kb and mine are 400kb jpegs!?
Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   using iphoto and iweb, not hosting on .mac

I believe that iWeb optimises the pics when you publish the site, but you could confirm that on the iWeb forum.
If you want to reduce the size of pics using iPhoto, you do that on export: Select the pics you want and go File -> Export. Use the dialogue to specify the size of the pics you require and export them to a folder on the desktop.

  • Photo Sizes in iPhoto

When I import directly from my digital camera, the photos are "manageable" in size - about 1.0MB. However, I just imported photos from a professional photographer for an event and each photo is 4.0MB or larger. I want to upload some of these to a website, but they need to be under 0.8MB.....Can I set iPhoto a size dimension to import at a max size?  Also, how can I reduce the photo size of the ones I just imported to a manageable size?

Select the photo(s) and export (file menu ==> Export) using the custom size option to set the maximum pixel dimension you want

  • I have a problem with iPhoto on my iMac.  Under the view site, I am unable to get to the photo size function.  It is grayed out

Under the view designation in iPhoto, the photo pane and photo size options are grayed out.  How can I get them turned back on so I can modify the size of small old photo I have scanned in.

There is no way to increase the size of a photo image once it's been scanned/taken.  If you want larger images from a scanned image scan it at a higher resolution, dpi.
Additionally, with the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you mean by "view designation"?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • I want to export a group of photos from iphoto.

I want to export a group of photos from iphoto. I want them to stay in the same order that I put them in. So far when I export, the photos sort according to date or name. I want them to stay in manual sort the way I set them up in the album.
I also want to import them in that order to another program. I am going to try to import them into Final Cut Pro 7. I still want them in the sorted order.
    Can this be done?
    jibetack

So, in other words, it can't be done. Once the photos are exported they lose the order I had them in in iphoto.
    Not at all
typically the easiest way it to export from iPhoto using the sequential file name option and then view in alpha order
    and
What is a better software to organize and sift through photos than iphoto?
None as far as I am concerned - that is strictly a personal decision that you have to make for yourself - Only you know what features you want - no one else does

  • Exporting iphoto 08 album to USB or DVD/CD individual photo names lost

    Hi All,
Trying to export iphoto album's using iphoto 08 to either DVD, CD or USB or Media card.
Problem: Either all the names of the individual pictures are replaced with a number OR some photo names/descriptions appear and the rest in the album are numbered.
I do not care about the order of the photo's.
I just want to give a copy to a family member with the names on them. Some of photos are from 1800 & early 1900's so I don't want to lose the information with them. Nothing worse than a whole lotta photos that you don't know who or what they are about.
    Any help here??
    Thanks!
    Cherisse

When you added this information in iPhoto you added a "Title" to the photo, and the Finder (which is what reads the disk or USB device) doesn’t understand that. it just uses Filenames.
So, File -> Export and in the Export dialogue choose to use the Title as filename.

  • Why does iWeb upoad the original photo in addition to the blog photos size

    Hi,
why does iWeb upoad the original photo in addition to the blog photos size?
    It's a waist of webspace.
    JO

Seems a bit strange having to pre-prepare an image to be manipulated by a website program that can manipulate images.
1 example, I loaded a photobooth image into Iweb (30-40k) only to find it changed it to over 240k just so it can add rounded edges..
I would like to be able to drag over a few 1meg+ images and have Iweb just use the size it needs without keeping over 13megs of images that arent used.
but it doesnt seem to do it for all images, only the 1st one of the page (like in the blog pages) 1 image is there by default, I load in say 6 images, 5 have square borders 1 has a round one and only that one had its original big brother uploaded..
Thanks for the info, at least now i can stop looking for a menu option that isnt there
