  • Burn ISO file

Strange I can't figure this out. I downloaded an .iso file to burn to dvd. I'll call it "file.iso" How do I do it? Disk Utility dutifully reproduces the file and I get "file.iso" on the DVD. That's not what I want. I want it "expanded" or whatever, so it makes a working DVD, not a copy of the .iso file. I don't want a data disc, I want a payable DVD. It's not protected content or anything like that. The threads I saw don't seem to address it this way but are people trying to burn data to a dvd. Seems kinda strange I can't figure this out but I'm stumped. Any help will be appreciated.

Double click the iso file and it should mount in the Finder. Copy the contents to your hard drive and use Toast to burn the VIDEO-TS file to a DVD disk.

  • ISO file burn to DVD problem!

I have recently obtained a 3.8GB .avi file and would like to burn it to DVD so my home DVD player can play it.
I have run it through VisualHub and converted it to a .iso file.
How to I go about burning it.
I have Roxio Toast Titanium. OSX 10.4.11. DVD Burner.
Tried it once but my DVD player couldn't read it!
    Thanks!

    "Should I and why please?"
    Yes.
Because that's how I made a video disk (VCD) in Toast 7 a few days ago. Toast converted my video files into an ISO file, which I burned to a CD using the procedure in my first reply.
It should be worth a try.

  • How do you burn .ISO files on Mac or convert them to .CDR files ? Thanks

    Hi,
I want to install Vista (beta) on my MacBook, using BootCamp. For this I need to burn the Wista.ISO image onto a DVD which then I can install on the partition created by BootCamp assistant. I only have this intel computer and a PowerBook G4.
Question: Is there a way for me to convert the .ISO (vista image) into a .cdr file that I can burn normally? Or is there any other way to make a Vista instalation disc from a .ISO file using a Mac computer? Perhaps using some converting software.... or ...do you have any suggestions? I only have the Macs and cannot borrow or use any PC during the weekend.
    Thank you

"What I meant is: to burn the .ISO image in such a way that when I slip the created DVD into the computer, it will start installing the Vista OS."
yeah, and burning the ISO with Toast or Disk Utility will create such a disc. We wouldn't have recommended it if it wouldn't work for you.

  • How to burn an .iso file

I am sure there is some way in disk utlility or something, but how do I burn an .iso file? Also does it matter if it is a windows program .iso?
    Thank you

You can try to open it in Disk Utility. Just go Images>Open>browse to the .iso and it should mount the volume. Choose the volume and go to Images>Burn and follow directions.
You may encounter problems if the volume created on Windows is not compatibly formatted, but that's unlikely.
Note I'm running 10.3.9 so DU may have changed menu structures/options.
Lastly, this is faster and easier with Toast.

  • How to export my file to wav on hard-disc rather than burning a CD

Hi i have tried to figure this out..I guess its looking me straight in the face but here's hoping someone can help!
I have recorded a talk imported it into WB and have added tracks to make it easier to navigate. I have successfully written it to cd. Now what i really want is to be able to export my wav files to a folder and then import those wav files into my Rimage cd duplicator. It was so easy with audition but am trying to wean myself off the PC and so am trying out Logic/wave burner. Though not perfect i tried to read the files on the cd copy them into a folder..but the files have a cda extension a sort of shortcut file I think. But i cannot get the files (wav) to copy. As i say I would prefer anyway to export direct to the file rather than using the cd as it It leaves open the possibility of file copying problems due to transferring it first onto a cd. Any help would be greatly appreciated ! Thank you Paul

Hi thanks so much for all your advice. I would have replied earlier but for some reason couldn't logon! Anyway i am in so back to WB...
Yes my initial request was 2 fold really- though i could have been clearer!
1/ To export to my hard disc the wav files of the cd project i have created in wb
2/ When exporting the lets say 1 hour talk - that the exported wav files be separate wav files reflecting the cue files i have placed on the time line in wb. In this way each separate wav file could then be imported into my rimage cd duplicator software to create my cd project. e.g cue1.wav cue2.wav etc
now in Audition this can be done easily by opening the cue window selecting the cues hitting merge then hitting batch and that's it, all done. In fact i went back to audition to do this ie I exported the wb file imported it to audition that recognised it no problem and then finally exported to wav which is done automatically during the above process.
I may be missing something , but it looks like this 'slicing' of one long audio file isn't as easily done in wb.... i do want to get off the pc for all this so any further help or perhaps a simple what to do summary would be great. I a aware all the answers could be in your replies already but i am getting into somewhat of a tizzy!! Thanks Paul

  • IMovie 10: Create project file to be burned using Toast 11

**I am brand new to the community so if I commit some faux pas, mea culpa in advance!  I searched previous postings but didn't find exactly what I was looking for.**
I created a photo slide show in iMovie 10 with transitions, some over layed text, and music.  Approximately 1.5 hours in length and over 14GB.
Searching the Net I came across PC Classes Online which provided instructions on how to take my creation and burn to Toast 11.  However, something must have been lost in the translation.
Their instructions directed me to select my movie, click Share and then File.  (followed on screen instructions)  Once my movie was converted to file, then drag and drop into Toast for burning.  However, the file created was in .mp4 format, which does not translate to DVD format.  My DVD would not play on my iMac or my TV.
I have tried multiple times to go through that process again, hoping to find a selection that would result in something other than .mp4.  To no avail.  What did I do wrong?

    Hi
In iMovie'13 (v.10.0.x) - Share as a File and as 480p (NO OTHER - as Video-DVD standard can not be any batter whatever tool used)
Save it onto Deaktop/Finder to be easy to find.
Close iMovie - Start Toast 11
Here SELECT to do a VIDEO DVD
Then drag and drop Your movie file into the big area to the right in this window.
At bottom click on the big red (or green) button
Do as suggested - DO NOT PUT IN ANY NEW DVD until asked to do so !
Set down BURN SPEED to x2 (max x4) as this gives a much better result.
I use Verbatim DVD-R disks - and too a very good result !
    Yours Bengt W

You should not be using the "-dao" switch and get rid of the burnfree thing as that is now deprecated and will be used anyways if your drive supports it, so:
    sudo cdrecord -v dev=/dev/cdrom isofile.iso

  • Disk Utility Unable to Correctly Burn Bootable Discs From ISO Files with Yosemite (10.10.1)

My problem is with burning ISO images to make a bootable DVD disc with OSX 10.10.1. I cannot drag and drop an ISO file (in this case, Ubuntu 14.04 server iso) to the disk utility and then burn it with Yosemite.  I have to first open the ISO file, then attempt to burn it.  The DVD it creates is unreadable. I tried to convert the ISO file to CDR and also IMG - same problem: disc unreadable error.
I then went back to OSX 10.9.5 and tried the same thing - worked like a champ.  I was able to drag and drop the ISO file into the Disk Utility window and successfully burn a bootable DVD disc from the same Ubuntu ISO file I tried using with 10.10.1.
Hey Apple, what's up?  You broke Disk Utility in 10.10.1.  Has anyone experienced the same problem and found a work-around?  I hate to have to keep booting an older version of OSX to accomplish this task.  So far, Yosemite has been a bust for me with all the other problems I have experienced.  I might as well go back to 10.9.5 on all my Macs until Apple gets their act together with Yosemite.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Burning the CDs from ISO files - Solution

I have just finished burning the cd images and as I type this my little baby is coming to life! he he :-)
I did try Nero but failed misrably so I offer the following as a solution that worked for me. Apologies to anyone if it appears I'm teaching 'Grandma to suck eggs'.
First you extract the files from the zips, uncorrupted zips that is, if you are using Winzip then the contents description etc will be displayed when you hover over the zip file with the mouse pointer.
Next add the .iso file extension to each of the 3 files you have just extracted
Next you need to create a Cue sheet/file. To do this go into notepad and create 1 file as shown below and save if with .cue file extension with the respective iso file.
    FILE "C:\YOURDIR\sol-8-4_01-fcs-bin-ia-v1.ISO" BINARY
    TRACK 01 MODE1/2048
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
    POSTGAP 00:02:00
Where YOURDIR corresponds to where you have the iso file stored.
You need to create 1 cue sheet file for each of the binaries with the .iso extension changing the references shown above to match the location and the .iso filename.
I then used cdrwin to write the file images loading each of the above cue sheets. But you could use any burning software that supports cue sheets, which give it the correct information to burn the image.
    Hope this helps
    Skaven

I tried the skaven_1 recommendations using the latest (v5.5.9.9) version of Nero. This version of Nero supports .iso extensions. It also supports .cue files. skaven_1's sample cue sheet works in Nero.
Despite all this the resulting CDs are unreadable on my Ultra10. All of the Solaris 9 CDs I have burned are readable on my PC.
I have burned other OS ISO images (BSD, OpenBSD, etc...) using the same version of Nero and they are all bootable on x86 machines.
I have found that if the CD is not readable using:
    dd if=/dev/rdsk/c0t2d0s2 bs=2048 | od -Ax -xc | less
(BTW, this is a handy way to check the volume label at 0x8000 for the disk type)
it is unlikely to be readable (and therefore bootable) at the PROM level.
All of the other OS ISO images I have burned have been readable on the Ultra10 using the above command. NONE of the Solaris 9 images I have burned have been readable using the above command. The drive will "spin" and "click" indefinitely until interrupted (^C or kill).
Having scoured this archive, I have determined that some people are successful in burning the Solaris [89] images while many others are not. There seems to be no clear understanding on what is necessary for success.
Has anyone successfully burned Solaris 9 SPARC iso images to a CD. If so what specifically did you do to achieve this incredible success!? Detailed information on:
    - version
    - media
    - technique
    - phase of the moon :-}
would be most helpful to the rest of the community.
It would be nice if someone at Sun would chime in and provide this information. The information provided at the download area is less than informative. I have followed those instructions and still have not met with success.
Sun...ARE YOU LISTENING? If people have difficulty with obtaining and successfully using these OSes, it makes it harder for startups (like I am working with) to lay the foudation to use your hardware. If this is hard, we are likely to make decisions to use other solutions. Much as we may not wish to do this, it is the reality. We have solutions to provide in a limited amout of time.

    hello.

i have exported the file as quicktime using the animation codec, with 100per cent quality as it needs to be the highest quality
when i play the file with media player the sound is there, but when i burn it onto a dvd the audio is not there anymore... i really dont understand what i am doing wrong! can anyone help please?
i am using quicktine as im told this the best for optimum lossless quality
if i cannot burn it with audio using the quikctime animation codec, then i might try exporting it as an avi file. if so, what is the best codec to use for lossless quality?
    thankyou!!!!

And when you follow Jim's suggestions, Export as elemental streams, i.e. one Video-only file and one Audio-only file. Encore will like that better.

I can not export photos onto DVD. After I click export, close iPhoto, click Finder, At this point I can't find the file to burn. (copy to be used on Windows) Sorry for the lame question....new to mac

So it sounds like you are trying to burn a DVD with photos on it so the photos can be either transferred to or displayed on a Windows PC, is that correct?
For the purposes of this I am going to assume you are using iPhoto '11.
Gather the photos you want to burn to DVD in one album in iPhoto. This is not absolutely necessary but it sure makes things easier for me.
Select that album, then go to the File menu and select Export...
In the dialog that shows up, select the File Export tab. Select the setting you want to use for export. Click the Export button.
Another dialog will show up. Set the location to Desktop and click the New Folder button. Name the folder something nice and descriptive and click the Create button.
Click the OK button. Quit iPhoto as the rest of this work will be done in the Finder.
You will now have a folder on your desktop with that nice descriptive name. Find it and select it. Go to the File menu and from it select Burn "Descriptive folder name" to Disc...
Insert a blank DVD when prompted.
Let the finder complete the work and eject the disc afterwards.
    That's it. Best of luck.

  • Can't see .iso file on a DVD Burned using a windows pc.

A friend burned me a dvd using windows. When I open it on my mac I can't see anything. When I use VMware and windoze 98 I see a .iso file. Is there any way I can make my Tiger see this file. I can copy the file from VMware to my desktop and watch the movie via dvd player but I am low on drive space and don't want to leave this image on there as it is 4.33GB. I would love to be able to just pop in the dvd. watch it then eject it. Any help would be great.

Sorry, this is not a "Vista in a nutshell" or "Windows for beginners" forum, it's about "Windows compatibility (of Mac hardware and/or with Mac OS X)". Please seek out for help on Windows forums or ask a friend with more knowledge of Windows Vista.
