Export large Numbers document problem

Trying to export this large docment, after choose the kind of export (csv,...) the "save" dialog window comes up but, sometimes, comes up also the little "export" window. I can choose folder or type the file name in the "save" window but I am not able to choose the OK or Cancel button, so I forced to use the force quit window. I let also Numbers many hours with to the little "export" window to see if it goes avay but...no way. The only thing is force quit.
I try also cmd-dot to see if the export process stops in vain.
Note: Number is not FREEZE. This never happens until the "iCloud" version.
I am alone?

OK. It seems that I am alone.
Could someone tell me if the beolows error could be useful to understand why this semi-FREEZE happen?

Doing the sudo command, I know the file suspect file...and it is the file I am workning with.
The last console line is when I do a force quit of Numbers that is not "not responding"
It is the *only* way to quit Numbers.

Exporting large PDF document in inDesign

I'm exporting a large file (3m in length x 1.2m in width) in inDesign to PDF for print and the document just will not save, or if it does, only half the document actually saves. Help please!

I don't think so. A PDF can have several hundrets of miles now.

Your file may be larger than the maximum dimensions for a PDF (not sure what they are, currently). Try working at half-size in ID and see if it makes a difference.

Large numbers calculation problem (determinant calculation)

I have really interesting problem. I am calculatig determinant in ABAP with a large numbers (in CRM 5.0 system).
My formula for determinant is :

Det values are also f type. Problem is, that for several numbers I got the right values and for another det values I got wrong values... I also try to retype variable value on type p, but without success. Maybe I used wrong types or there is some ABAP rounding of numbers which cause wrong result.

phew! that sounds far from SAP scope, but from Maths' numerical methods. Let's see if I can remember something about my lessons at University...
- One issue can arise when adding and subtracting terms which are very similar, because the error tends to arise quite fast. Try to add the positive terms on one hand, and the negative terms on the other hand, then subtract one from the other.
- Please take into account that the determinant value can be significantly close to zero when the condition number of the matrix is low, that is, when the range is 4 but the whole determinant is close to 0. Instead, try a [Singular Value Decomposition|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SVD_(mathematics)] or an [LU decomposition|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LU_decomposition]

Export Large Indesign Document to Hyperlinked/Bookmarked PDF

I am trying to export a 600+ Indesign book as a PDF with hyperlinks and bookmarks but it constantly crashes. I have tried many things, including splitting the document into small batches, exporting and appending the pdfs but that is most time-consuming and definitely not efficient. I am using CS5. Does anyone have any solutions. Thanks.

There’s a script floating around but it’s easier to export one PDF and then use the extract pages command in Acrobat to make single pages.

Exporting large numbers of tables as sysdba

Hi all,
I have several hundred tables that I need to export from our Oracle 10g production database and import to test database environment. I cannot get export to work using sys as sysdba below:

1.- if you just TRUNCATE the table oracle will see that the table exists and it will fail to load that table, oracle will skip this table and continue with the next one. You can include IGNORE=Y to ignore the error and load the data. ( be careful because is not going to show other errors)
2.- See example.

I have created a document on my iPad using the Numbers app. How can I send this via email to a Windows user so that it opens correctly? I know you can export a Numbers document to Excel from a Mac, but is there a way to do that on an iPad?

same thing really. under the wrench is "Share and Print", you choose email and then choose the format (XL).

Export cannot handle large numbers

Exporting to TXT or CSV fails on when columns contain large numbers. I presume it uses 32 bit signed integers. The result is blanks for all fields where the contents are too large. I have tested on both win 2000 and unix with the same results.

Similar problem occurs with the visualization, as mentioned in:

Can to be that the problem with the EXPORT has the same cause of the problem with the visualization.

Problems exporting large PDF files

I am trying to export a 52 page InDesign file to PDF. One or two random pages will not export properly, elements from other pages appear and other graphics which were there in InDesign have dissappeared in the exported PDF file. The most annoying thing is that when I export the offending pages separately, one at a time the export without any problems. Is it possible for Indesign to experience an "information overload" when exporting larger documents? how can I fix this?

Well, I didn't want to go into the weeds and be too much of a distraction, but since you asked, I guess it's puzzling because:
I work with long complex documents, and it doesn't happen to me.
We don't see many reports of this problem on the forum [I can't remember any, honestly, but I have not dug hard].
There are some similar problems, mostly relating to master page items, that have been fixed in some recent updates.
I don't see how touching many or all page items or pages has much to do with "address space"; sure, it will make InDesign use more virtual memory, but that's a core function of the operating system, and if it's flaking out, there should be many more serious problems. Therefore I am probably misunderstanding your use of "working address space."
If in fact there is some allocation limit that is being hit or leak or whatnot, it ought to be caught be refcounting of the resource, and the various checks in the InDesign debug build, the InDesign server 30-day uptime tests, etc., etc.
The implication is that you have reproducible testcases for this problem and have been unable to get InDesign Engineering to resolve the problem, which is kind of an unfortunate situation to be in, so I slap the label of "puzzling" on it.
An alternative interpretation is that you think the problem isn't easily solvable and haven't really tried to do so, which I also find puzzling.
If the 64 bit InDesign fixes this, it's just papering over the problem. But since we have a 64-bit InDesign Server for Windows (right? I don't use ID Server for much), it should be easily testable today.
So, that's basically some rough insight into the things floating around in my head that lead me to be "puzzled."
I don't mean to discount your problems, or your workaround; I thought it useful to offer the original poster the standard workarounds and suggestions we tend to offer for the broader category of problem, in case yours did not work (hence "Beyond that").

Problem with opening a Numbers document

I have a problem with a Numbers document, which I created 3 weeks ago and step by step extended with additional functionality. I'm not anymore able to open the document. I can rename the document and maybe - I didn't try - delete the document. But when I'm clicking on the file's icon, the error message appears "Tabelle kann nicht geöffnet werden". It seems that the file is defect but how I it be revived. What steps I have to do to re-open the document?

Try adding .epub to the end of the name.
I assume you are aware that to open an .epub file you need a special app, not TextEdit or Pages, right?

Automator Workflow to export Numbers documents in PDF format

Does anyone know of any automator workflow to export Numbers documents in PDF format? I tried this program: Convert to PDF 1.2

The description of the tool which you tried clearly states :
*About Convert to PDF*
*_Convert all of your text files to PDF_. This action uses the underlying cups printing system ability to convert files, it’s a simple front end to the command line tool cupsfilter.*
As far as I know, but maybe you don't, *_a Numbers document isn't a text file._*
I already posted a script exporting Numbers documents as PDF.
Here is an enhanced version which apply only to Numbers '09 (or maybe higher) :

Large Word document imported into Pages with "Section Break Problems"

Hi there,
I am importing a large Word document with many photos (>250 pages) into Pages. Now, the problem is that when using the "page thumbnail" window to the left it marks all my windows with a yellow border.
This means that I can't duplicate single pages - it will duplicate the whole stuff. Same thing for delete.
I can go to the last character of each page and insert a "section break". This creates single pages. But it seems a bit odd to me, and with >250 pages, this is quite some work too.
Any idea what I can do to solve quickly the issue?

Sections are what they say they are natural breaks in the document.
Each section usually having headers footers and other basic content in common.
Effectively just like chapters in a book or specifically designed pages in a magazine or report.
If your text naturally flows from one page to the next then they should stick together.
If on the other hand you are treating them all like single leaves of paper to be shuffled around, then you need a section break at the end of each page.
3 ways you can quickly do this:
1. There is a unique start to each page such as a return followed by a particular word. You can search on this combination replacing it with a section break followed by the word.
2. You can make a short cut to do this from the keyboard
3. You can copy a section break and paste it at the end of each preceding page.
4. You can transfer by copying and pasting the content into a Layout mode document where every page is its own section.
As with most work, planning, organisation and thinking before you leap, pays off in the long run.

HELP! Problem Projecting Numbers Document

I am trying to project a Numbers document from my iPad onto a projector via the 30pin to VGA adaptor. In the past, this has worked fine, projecting full screen. However on this document it is squeezing it vertically. - I think 16:9. Are there any settings on the iPad I can change? Help - I have less than 30 minutes.

I believe you have to double-tap the cell to type in it on the iOS version, and it will zoom in on the cell and give you the keyboard. And always make sure you are importing the files onto your iPod while connected to Wi-Fi. This will let the iPod download anything necessary to make the Numbers file compatible with iOS. If the keyboard truly doesn't appear, try one of these:
Instead of using iCloud, try just emailing yourself the file. Then open it in your Mail app on the iPod. When finished editing, email it again.
Start all spreadsheets on your iPod, but don't edit them. Then send them to your Mac for editing. If your spreadsheets are started on your iOS device you just might be able to edit them correctly.
Uninstall Numbers on your iPod and reinstall it. This might take away glitches. You can always reinstall directly from the App Store on your iPod without paying again. If you have any spreadsheets you wish to save, send them to your Mac or by email, or use iCloud.

Problem when opening an iCloud-Numbers-Document

I cannot open a iCloud-Numbers-Document either on my iPad, neither on my MacBook. It only shows me an error message...

I too have this problem, but I have found a work around for it.
First I turned off iCloud storage for Numbers in the settings on my iPad. Then on my iMac I logged into iCloud.com land there is a Numbers app, which is still in beta, clicked on it and choose the file I wanted and choose the option to download it. Once downloaded I fired up iTunes and tried to import it into Numbers, but that didn't work so I choose another app, I have Textastic imported into that and then on my iPad opened the app and choose to open with Numbers from there and it worked.
I have also emailed my spreedsheet to myself and choose the option the open with Numbers from there and it worked. This method should also work with Dropbox, which I haven't tried but I will be adding my spreadsheets there for backup!
Hope this helps, it's a bit of a long winded hack, but it works. Hope Apple fix this soon.

All of a sudden, I can't export Pages or Numbers documents to a PDF

I've been able to export all of my pages and numbers documents to PDF with no issues. Now, all of a sudden it's giving me an error message and saying that I can not.

The icons wouldn't even show on the device if they were restricted. Try downloading an app on the computer and syncing it over onto the iPad to see if that makes it works. If not, I'd likely recommend restoring as it would look like a software issue with the device.
