Export Media options

PPro CS5.5
I'm not a regular user and keep coming back to the same problem when I do use this.
Nothing complex being tried here just simple removal cuts and export.
ex// Got a sequence, Video1 and Audio1,  the source is 640x480 24fps.
When I export media -- I can't get the output to be the same parms, yes on the 24fps but no on the 640x480.  I don't want to lose resolution -- but don't want a monster sized file either.
Usually when I export the file can double or more in size.  I've had files <1gb end up as 8+gb after removing content from the sequence!
ex// the 640x480 is about 240mb.  The best I could do w/o losing res was 500mb.
If I play with sequence settings it kind of helped -- but I ended up with a larger lower res "picture" and a file of about 150MB partly because the sequence settings were aspect locked and I couldn' put in 640 x 480, and had to settle for 640x360.
What am I missing?  Match Sequence settings really doesn't.  Its frustrating to take a 800mb file mp4, edit to only 50% of the content and end up with a file 2x or 3x the size.
Any tutorials out there or another post that addresses this?  Are there are add-ons for formats?  I see the export media drop-down usually doesn't have my source "format"
thanks folks!

Do you have an option to see a drop down menu, atop the dialogue box when you go to export media? You should have options for MANY different formats to do so...If not in 5.5, as I use 6. then how about Media encoder. Sorry i am not at my WS to give you the exact path to do so. However, in 6. which I think it is the same as 5.5 for export for final you have at least 60 different sizes and players to choose to render out to. It may default to AVI compressed and right below it there is another tab that says custom, up in that area is where you will have your export format choices, almost certain.'
EDIT- See the tabs in the middle of that dialogue box. The Tab Video and try PNG export or 264. However your best bet is Media Encoder for finesse

what is this frame...is it a jpeg file i have imported...how do i locate it... its a 40 minute movie and it will share to dvd just wont let me create a quicktime .mov file... any suggestions.

What frame rate is the project? Divide the 3297 by the frame rate to get an approximate location? What are the specs of the media at that location, video and audio?

  • Premiere Pro CS5 - Trouble exporting media

I've been really frustrated the last couple of days. I'm trying to export a video with 2 audio tracks and 1 video track and it sometimes exports fine but sometimes doesn't. I tried exporting with media encoder cs5 and this is what i got
    - Source File: /Users/jakesantini/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/blackopsfirstcommentaryagain.prproj
    - Output File: /Volumes/Jake's Hard Drive/Sequence 01.mp4
    - Preset Used: For youtube
    - Video: NTSC, 1280x720, 59.94 fps, Progressive
    - Audio: AAC, 64 kbps, 44.1 kHz, Stereo
    - Bitrate: VBR, 1 Pass, Target 6.00, Max 9.00 Mbps
    - Encoding Time: 00:31:38
    Thu Nov 18 12:55:37 2010 : Encoding Failed
Multiplexing has failed. Please recheck the settings and try again.
It encodes all the way through to the end but it just won't work. When i try to export with just the "export media" option it says it's at 100% for about an hour and then goes away, but the video still doesn't work. Any ideas?

Same problem here. I ran out of ideas and tried to export it in pieces... by tomorow I can tell if this work around helped.

  • Feature Request: Make a Setting Option for Export - Media - What to Render

As I just changed after many years with Premiere Elements to Pro, I certainly find many things just anconversant.
But there's one thing I really can't take: When I'm trying to render a project, there's a small selection list near the bottom of the "Export Media" window saying "export area". Here I can choose between "complete sequence", "work area", "sequence in/out" and "defined by user". This option jumps always back to "work area"!
That's at least for me very unconveniant, because in 99+ % of my renderings, I need "complete sequence". Normally the software remembers the last used setting, but not in this case. I can imagine that one can fight about what's the best default setting: I Guess everyone is using Premiere differently. So in my opinion a predefined setting option would solve best for all: Just add one mor setting in the Presets section, maybe in "General" or make a new rubric "Export" or something. Just a place where everyone can predefine which setting for the export media area option he likes.
No big deal, just one more presettings option!
I hope I could make myself clear what I'm meaning
    Thanks in advance!

Excellent - great information guys! I love the links to write ups.
preface: (This whole project was shot with Canon 5DM2 - I don't remember if the cameras were set at 24 or 30 fps )  so as i am learning about the export options i am also learning (the hard way) about the seq settings.
Right now on my current project (fashion show)  I have 9 designers that walked the runway, so i am creating 9 timelines in a project. for each designer/tl i will output (.mov)vimeo and facebook seg for each one. i have edited 4 designers so far and i think i have some issues and i need to learn more about seq settings and also output options.
I am also delivering a physical dvd.  I created a FINAL tl that i am dropping each (nested) designer segment onto.  when i created this tl i must have set it up as dv ntsc - (out of habit)-and i think that is the choice for going to physical dvd?not sure?.
the first 2 designers i set the seq settings at dv ntsc and they fit (nested ) on the "final" tl, ///however i think i had to resize all those  clips (I didn't know why they weren't right. - honestly i can't remember///
ANYWAYS,  Designers 3 and 4= i had set the seq settings at canon xf mpeg2 1080i/p
Should all the designers seg be set at canon xf mpeg2 1080i/p (i selected 1080p30) but i really don't know if it was 24 or 30 (is that information in clip info somewhere?)
Can I change a seq setting once the timeline is edited on? = please don't tell me i have to re=edit. yikes What should the correct settings be?
Is there a work around to put designers 1&2 (dv ntsc settings) on same tl with 3&4 (canon xf mpeg 1080p30) ?
Finally what setting should that final (NESTED FINAL timeline all designers) be? - for output to physical DVD ( JVC-Taiyo Yuden )

  • Exported media file size issues Sometimes one size, Sometimes another without making any changes in FCPX?

    Hi there
I'm having some strange issues with files sizes from
    Share>Export Media
I'm not changing anything about the video (just moving an audio track forwards and backwards ever so slightly to try and get it to the correct timing), nor am I changing anything about the way I export the video.
I am always using the EXACT same settings
Sometimes finder states my video is 1.15GB, sometimes its states its 3.8GB
But then when I close Finder down and then go back into Finder again to find the file it states its gone from 1.15GB to 3.8GB
I'm not sure if this is a error with my system or Final Cut Pro X?
By the way I'm running 10.0.5
    Thanks

    Bob,
Well, the issue has gone to press and I have upgraded to Snow Leopard and CS5. Initial tests show that the problem still exists, and that it is  related to the XML tags. The problem occurs both with legacy (CS4) documents and documents created from scratch in CS5. As I mentioned before, it only seems to happen when overrides are applied to paragraph styles.
Here is a sidebar as exported from InDesign. Overrides were applied to the two headlines to modify color, point size and baseline shift:
The file with XML tags, packaged and opened in InCopy CS5:
The same file with XML tags removed, packaged and opened in InCopy:
OK. Now is when things start to get really interesting.
I thought perhaps that exporting the InDesign file as an IDML document, then reopening it, might perhaps fix the problem. But, no. In fact, when I reopened the IDML file in InDesign, the font styles were broken in _exactly_ the same places as they were in InCopy. Apparently, whatever problem InCopy is having with the XML tags is being duplicated by the IDML export. (Do these processes share the same file format?)
For example, here is a title page from the magazine as a screen grab in InDesign. Overrides were applied to the top headline on a line-by-line basis:
The same file, exported as an IDML file and reopened in InDesign:
As with InCopy, when the XML tags are removed, the IDML file reopens in InDesign just fine. Unfortunately, removing the XML tags is not a option. We need them to repurpose the content after it goes to press.
This is a real bug, and for us it's a serious one. I'm surprised it hasn't come up before. Is there any way to draw this to Adobe's attention? I'd be more than happy to share any of these files if that would help.
    Steve

  • Export Media in Premiere Pro CS6 ONLY produces an Audio File in Media Encoder

    First, all the system info:
Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1
Intel HD Graphics 3000 Display Adapter
    I’m using Premiere Pro CS6 Version 6.0.5 (001  (MC: 264587)) “Mighty Kilt”
Version 6.0.3.1 (64 Bit) of Adobe Media Encoder CS6
Other Adobe applications installed: AIR, Creative Cloud, Download Assistant, Encore CS6 Library, Flash Player 12 ActiveX, Flash Player 12 Plugin, Help Manager, Premiere Pro CS6, Premiere Pro CS6 Functional Content, Reader XI
I’ve run check for updates on both Premiere Pro and Media Encoder and everything is up to date
I'm producing a two disc, dual layer DVD set for 100 families of my son's marching band.
I have a half hour "masterwork" of interviews, performance segments, rehearsal sequences, credits, etc that I've edited together complete with sound, etc.
I also then have various other video segments from the season, some high quality (1920x1080) and some lower quality.
Rather than import everything into Encore and have Encore transcode them all at the same quality, I wanted to ensure that the half-hour piece and certain other segments were transcoded as high quality as possible and given the largest file sizes I could and then transcode other segments at lower quality levels as needed so everything would fit on the discs.
The company I'm using to duplicate/replicate the 100 DVDs from my Master DVD advised me to encode them FIRST in Premiere Pro as desired, and THEN import those files into Encore.
I've used Adobe Media Encoder a lot to export the individual segments into files I could upload to Youtube and have had no problem for the last several months.
    But now, two things happen:
    1) AME automatically designates the "Output File" with an .aac extension (see attached)
    2) When I do an "Import As" of the AME encoded file in Encore it only loads an audio file (obviously)
    Huh?
Here are the settings I use in my Export Media dialogue in Premiere Pro CS6:
    Format: MPEG2-DVD
    Preset: NTSC Widescreen High Quality
Output Name (and filetype): ______ name with Save as Type of "Video Files(*.mpg)
BOTH the "Export Video" and "Export Audio" boxes are checked (see attached screen print)
Filters Tab: left as is, don't do anything here
    Multiplexer Tab:
choose the "DVD" button (vs the "None" button)
Bitrate Type: left as Variable which is what is selected as a default
    Video Tab:
    Codec: Reads MainConcept MPEG Video
Quality: increase it to the max of 5
    TV Standard: NTSC
    Frame Rate: 29.97
    Field Order: None (Progressive)
    Pixel Aspect Ration: Widescreen 16:9
Render at Maximum Depth box checked
Bitrate Encoding: I choose CBR for my high quality segments and VBR 2-pass for my lower quality segments
Bitrate: kick it up to the max for high qulaity segments, adjust as needed to get the filesize I want for my lower quality segments
    Audio Tab:
    Audio Format: Dolby Digital
    Codec: Dolby Digital
Bitrate: At least 320, sometimes higher for the segments I want to be the highest quality
I check the "Use Maximum Render Quality" box
I chose "Queue" for everything and then let it run overnight
And yes, the original media has BOTH a video track and an audio track that works (see Screenprint)
So... what am I doing wrong, helpful experts????

Larry, Mark, Jim & Bill -
It is 1 am Tuesday morning and I'd do a primal scream if my family weren't all sleeping upstairs.
Somewhere along the way, I either read or was given the advice to just skip AME, load my videos as timelines in Encore, and just do the transcoding there.
I spent almost a day trying to figure out how to get "buttons" for my menus I was building (they weren't appearing in Encore's library like they should) and eventually found a simply workaround.
So I then spent the last 24 hours or so building all my menus, creating small clips for my "motion menu" buttons, getting all that straightened away.
Got really excited earlier tonight since it seemed like I was nearly finished and coming down the home stretch.
I hit "build" in Encore, went away for a couple hours, and came back to find a big error message awaiting me telling me that "Encoding Failed."
I have read a lot of posts, and the outlook is not good, or at least the possible solution not simple or short from a time perspective.
I have a 100 families awaiting their DVD they've paid for that they initially were told they'd have by mid-February. I've been telling everybody that they would have it - guaranteed - by this weekend when there's a band festival that would be ideal for distribution. The DVD duplication company says they have to have it by Wed morning at the absolute latest. Meaning I've got about 24 hours to figure this out and burn my dual-layer masters of the two DVDs or once again tell people "I know I guaranteed you'd have it by this weekend, but I don't have it ready yet."
Almost as importantly, I can't afford to keep spending the hours and hours and hours on this that I have. It's impacting my personal and professional life.
    Thus the primal scream.
The posts I read about the encoding failure all pretty much advise that I use AME to do all the transcoding work. Which of course brings me squarely back to my original problem: I cannot get a video file out of AME.
I'm embedding a screenshot of what I see when I click on the pull-down menu in the AME dialogue window. The problem: there is no MPEG2-DVD option listed to be chosen.
Although I'm relatively new to forums, I've read enough posts by now that it seems like most people are in crisis mode when they post. So I realize my situation is not all that unique. But from a newbie rookie in the field to you experts, I REALLY could use some assistance right now, because between this and the long, cold winter we've had, I'm about to lose it.  :-)
P.S. Mark, in answer to your question about frame rates, I have 18 different videos/films/projects that I'm including in my two DVD-set. There have probably been nearly 6-7 different cameras that have contributed footage to one or more of those films by borrowing camcorders of different brands and types and quality levels from people. Nearly every one of those 18 films have multi-camera sequences in them. And many films are collections of sequences which themselves are "nested sequences" sometimes three deep.  In otherwords, there is no way I can tell you all the various frame rates that may be represented among these 18 separate projects and I certainly can't go back and hope to change them all to the same one.
    Help. Please.  :-)

  • The sequence does not show when exporting media from premiere

    hi
i have the following setting for my sequence-
    editing mode- main concept bluray
    time base-25.00
preview file format -mpeg bd 1080 50i vbr 34 mbps
    width 1920
    height- 1080

issue is when i export media the adobe media encoder does not show the sequence
and when i export in some other format- it only shows h.264 option and not h.264 bluray. as a consequence cannot write any bluray since all the option are progressive
do i need to reinstall something/anything
    issue with mainconcept?
is there a tab where one can add presets in media encoder?
    thanks

If you installed AME through the Creative Cloud, then this is a known issue which was fixed in an update released just a couple of days ago. To get this update, select Updates in the Help menu.
If you're not on Creative Cloud, then please specify which product or suite you installed that included AME, and also indicate whether it's activated or running in trial mode.

  • Export Audio Option is Missing

  • Help! Export Media does not launch Encoder!

So i go to click on Export Media, and it just sits there.
This worked within the last 2 days or so.
I tried making a new project and exporting that, no dice. Tried making a new project, importing an old one, no dice. etc etc etc.
It just sits there, kinda still, not doing anything, appears as though hung or loading. I can't click on anything.
I can however, press esc and return to it. Any ideas?
using cs4 (trial still valid). vista. decent computer. nothing has changed since the last time i used it when it worked.

I'm having this exact problem. Nightmare.
    I reinstalled and no luck.
Anyone got any ideas at all???
ALSO, Why the hell didn't Adobe just include Media Encoder as an OPTION not as your ONLY WORKFLOW?? Crazy people. It was so good to be able to just export a single frame, audio file or video file quickly and easily. Grrrrrrrr.

  • How Do I Add CODECs (e.g., FFV1, Lagarith) to Photoshop's 'Export Video' Options?

    Hi all,
I'm trying to add lossless CODECs (e.g., FFV1, Lagarith) to Photoshop (and Premiere and After Effects and Adobe Media Encoder) so that I can generate archival videos with the highest possible lossless compression ratios.  I've installed several CODECs, but none of them appear in Photoshop's 'Export Video' options, for example.  How do I get these CODECs to appear?
For the record, I'm using CS5.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Dave

    Found it!
I was concentrating almost entirely on Photoshop, where the new CODECs weren't appearing.  To make things worse, I'm new to AME and wasn't looking in the right places.  Selecting AVI and then breesing down to the Codec dropdown revealed Lagarith, ffdshow (FFV1, HuffYUV, etc.).  Awesome.  Now, let's give these suckers a whirl....
    Thank you so much, Mylenium!

  • Premiere CS4 crashes/freezes upon File Export Media click

    My system:
CS4 master collection. I have some remnants of CS3 on my computer.
    4 Gig RAM
    Quad Core processor
    Vista
    My problem:
Problem started yesterday and I've tried a lot of things but can't figure this out. When I click File>Export>Media, premiere greys out most panels and nothing can be clicked. It gives a beep of death on every click. I need to use task manager to close premiere. The only thing I've found I am able to do is click escape, which returns me to my project as if nothing has happened.
I've tried a range of different projects, including a brand new one with nothing in it except a 10 second DV avi file. Same problem across the board.
I've reinstalled CS4 Master collection but didn't uninstall it first. No change. Would it help to uninstall everything and start from scratch?
    Never had this problem before.
It also does the same thing on file>export>clipnotes but I CAN export an EDL.
The only change to my PC between this not happening and it happening was I installed the new music streaming software 'Spotify'. I have since uninstalled this but it hasn't fixed it.
If anyone has any ideas, I'd be hugely grateful.
    Ed

Hey Ed, I had replied earlier in the other thread you posted in and just noticed you started a new topic here, so, copied from the other thread:
I had something similar happen to me a few times... if the escape key is taking you back to premiere and returning everything to normal, then your computer is not really hanging or crashing. What most likely is happening is that Premiere is opening a dialog box OFF SCREEN, so you just can't see it or click on it to attend to what it's asking. Hitting escape is like hitting cancel, which returns you to your project.
To fix: just mess around with your monitor setups in your display panel, ie.: if you have a dual monitor setup, temporarily disable one monitor - forcing everything to open on one screen. And/Or set your screen resolution to the maximum your video card allows so that you may uncover the off screen space the dialog opens on. OR... you're video card may have a control panel with the option of forcing all windows onto one screen or preventing off screen display. Basically do whatever it takes to get a view of off your screen.
Once you discover that missing window, make sure you move it onto your primary display, somewhere in the center, and the next time you try to encode it should be right where it should be.
    Good luck.

  • Which: Export AE Render Queue ? PP Export Media ? Media Encoder?

The output of my PP and AE project ( combined video and animation ) looks terrible when exported or queued in PP or the CS5 Media Encoder.
It renders slow and has shown poor performance in the Mac OS X Activity Monitor.
When output to the AE queue ... the project looks great,, encodes super fast, and 'finally' shows awesome performance in the Activity Monitor.
I spent too much time trying different settings before I tried the AE renderer ... which, by the way, is buried away in the Compostition Menu under Add to Render Queue.
First, It is standard to output as a File command .. so there should be a Export / Save As ... > to the "Render Queue" .. and who cares what a 'render queue' is .. all I want to do is save file "A" in format "B".
So ... basically , my question is / are:
Why does both the PP Export and CS5 Media Encoder produce such bad results?
    and / or
What are the correct settings for PP Export and CS5 Media Encoder to produce excellent results matching the AE Render Queue?
Why do you have multiple inconsistent, confusing and dysfunctional Exporting / Saving options?
Seems that the CS5 "Media Encoder" should be junked and replaced with whatever engine is running inside the AE renderer .. and all other Export / Save / Add to Render Queue / and God knows what else you guys call it ...  should be routed to the new Media Encoder.

    Thanks again as always Todd.
I just can't get some of this ... just when I think I'm getting somewhere .. blam.
Why is there a "com.adobe.dynamiclinkmanagerCS5" in my trash ( Mac OS X ) every time I turn on the machine?
There are posts here at Adobe and one on Creative Cow Discussions .. but no one at Adobe answers.
    "Why?"
I have a huge plugin problem and yet again I will have to reinstall the system software and CS5 to get it to work long enough so I can spend time trying to figure out the vocabulary to explain to you, Apple, and CoreMelt what is going on. It seems to be within Dynamic Link.
Do you have a 12 Core Mac OS X?
Would your tech with a 12 Core Mac running OS X 10.6.6 install CoreMelt Plugin V2 - Lock & Load?
Would your tech explain to whomever needs to figure it out why / what doesn't work .. and fill in the blanks at Adobe?
Would someone explain it to me?

  • Export Media error

I am running Premiere Pro CS4 version 4.2.1
When I do file/export/media I get a warning dialog that says "An Adobe Media Encoder update is available for this version of Premiere Pro. To download the latest update, please run the Adobe Updater from the Help menu or visit http://www.adobe.com/downloades/updates" click OK
It then goes into the media export dialog but it will not export to any format. When I run Adobe Updator it does not find any for my system.
    Any thoughts or suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Phil

I think I may have figured out what is causing the error. The other day, I was messing around in my MSCONFIG file to tweak some of the boot settings (see attached) under Advanced options.
You'll notice that the Debug option is checked. I'm not sure if it was that way as default or if I accidentally activated it when tweaking the Processors/Memory settings, but after UNCHECKING Debug and restarting, I'm no longer having that error.
    Hope that helps anyone else...
