Export Movie DV AVI Embedding Options

> Embedding Options Choose whether to include a project link in the exported file. When a file contains project link information, you can open and edit the original project from within another Adobe Premiere Pro project or from another application that supports the Edit Original command. Select Project from this menu to embed the link information in the exported file; choose None if you do not want to include the information. This option is not available for all formats, or when exporting a source clip. (See Edit a clip in its original application.)
I am trying to understand what this implies. Does a project link mean that it will open the avi in premiere is a singular AVI or the project that clip was created in?
What use does this serve?
Thanks.

I exported a short DV AVI with a project link embedded from Premiere3. I then opened the AVI in Premiere2 and said "Edit Original", it then proceeded to open Premiere3 and the project appeared the same as the WHOLE original project.
Am I correct to assume that will only work if I have all my source files in the same place or on the same computer.? ie I can't give this file to a another editor with Premiere and open it and edit original if he does not have any of the original media on his system?
Thanks.

  • Exporting mov to avi; crashes when Sound Settings is clicked

We've reproduced this crash on two Windows 7 PCs (a 32-bit & a 64-bit PC). It happens every time when we want to convert any .mov to .avi. After clicking Options, to set conversion settings (video settings can be adjusted w/o problems, and Sound Settings CAN be adjusted when set for .mov to .mov), but after we select .mov to .avi, just clicking on Sound Settings crashes QT, every time, on both of our PCs.

I am haveing the exact same problem....also just using the sound setting were there at and trying to exporting it will never complete with out a i/o error.....

  • How to export movies with Single Field option on with QuickTime Pro?

    Hi,
I've got a rather problematic video file with MJPEG encoding in it. I've been able to save the original AVI into another QuickTime mov-file. Where I thought the deinterlace would help me to get rid of the horizontal lines in the picture, that option didn't work this time. Instead, if I use the Single Field option, I get at least a smooth picture.
But when I try to export this to another mov-file or any other format for a smaller file size, I never get the smooth picture to stay. And in the resulting files the interlace "effect" can't be removed even with that single field on again!
    I'm using QuickTime Pro 7.6.6.
    Anybody with a solution?

Where I thought the deinterlace would help me to get rid of the horizontal lines in the picture, that option didn't work this time. Instead, if I use the Single Field option, I get at least a smooth picture.
It's my understanding that these QT 7 Pro options are "playback only" property settings utilized by the QT Player and do do not have any effect on the export/re-compression of interlaced content. Have you tried exporting directly to a progressive codec option/setting in QT 7 Pro, tried the motion adaptive deinterlacer in MPEG Streamclip (free) or the JES Deinterlacer (free), or used the "decomb" filter option in HandBrake (free) to see if any of these approaches are more suited to your needs?

  • Exporting .mov to .avi file: computer crashes

I'm trying to export a .mov file to .avi. I get about 80% through this and my computer crashes. I'm guessing it's because my memory can't handle it (have got 512MB SDRAM only), but I might be wrong about this. The .mov file originally came in a zipped file, so perhaps in the unzipping I've overlooked something. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • No option to export as HD Avi

Apologies if I've missed something obvious, either in the programme itself or on this forum, but I just can't seem to work this out.
I am trying to export my movie as a high def avi file.  It exports beautifully to a DVD but I can't see any default presets to export to an avi in high def.  I have the following options:
DV NTSC standard (no good as I want PAL)
DVD NTSC widescreen (no good as I want PAL)
    DVD PAL standard (not widescreen)
DVD PAL widescreen (video size doesn't seem changeable and is only 720x576 i.e. not full HD)
Microsoft AVI (seems to be NTSC)
Uncompressed Microsoft AVI (also seems to be NTSC)
xVid (this seems more changeable than the others i.e. I can change the resolution to 1920x1080, but it crashes everytime)
    Any help really appreciated.
I am using Pre9 on a Windows 7 PC.  Footage is shot on a Panasonic HDC-SD60 in AVCHD format, imported using Panasonic's HD Writer software.  Pre Project settings are Full HD 1080i 25.
    Thank you very much.

Thanks Steve - very helpful and much appreciated.
I am trying to stream the final file to my television over DLNA.
The TV accepts a number of formats, including those as follows:
    .avi (Divx3.11/4.x/5.1/6.0) 1920x1080
    .avi (XviD) 1920x1080
    .avi (H.264 BP/MP/HP) 1920x1080
    .avi (MPEG4 SP/ASP) 1920x1080
    .mpg (MPEG1) 1920x1080
    .mpg (MPEG2) 1920x1080
    .mpg (H.264) 1920x1080
    .mp4 (H.264 BP/MP/HP) 1920x1080
    .mp4 (MPEG4 SP/ASP) 1920x1080
    .mp4 (XVID) 1920x1080
Plus an array of other formats for .mkv, .asf, .wmv, .3gp, .vro, .ts, .tp, .trp
Whilst I could encode at 1920x1080, my Wi-Fi struggles a bit with this, so I will probably take it down to 1280x720.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.,
Will certainly take a look at your book.  I bought the "Classroom In A Book" by Adobe when I got the software and am amazed at how little detail is in it.

  • Exporting actionscript as avi export movie

    hi all,
i have the following issue: i am creating a digital picture
    only via actionscript, e.g.
    moveTo(171,334)
    lineTo(176,235)
    lineTo(172,225)
    etc
Displaying the swf file via swf player is fine of course but
as I want to display it in a digital photo frame I need to export
it as .avi (as the dig. photo frame can't display .swf format). the
export only creates an empty avi file :(
    Does anyone know a solution?
    - Can I export just actionscript code as avi?
    - Or can I automatically convert actionsript to single frames
    (so to a non-as movie)?
    - Or does anyone know of a digital photo frame that can
    display swf files?
    Thanks for any help!!!

The AVI export doesn't support AS. Try using a third party
tool. Google SWF to AVI and you'll find a couple.
    Good luck!

  • Exporting Movie Settings - HELP!

    Hello
I'm creating various movies on iMovie '08 and intend to burn them to DVD using iDVD. Once they are ready to be exported...what options are best to choose (bearing in mind I want to burn these to DVD). Is it best to choose 'Export Movie', or 'Export using QuickTime' ??
What is the best file format and video compression settings to choose? I really want a good quality finish when played back on DVD.
Hope this make sense and you can help!
    Regards!

    Hi
+what options are best to choose (bearing in mind I want to burn these to DVD)+<</div>
If You use miniDV tape material or interlaced material then iMovie'08 or 09 are not the tool at all due to that it trashes every second line.
I would use iMovie 1 to HD 6 or FinalCut Express or Pro.
How to export any good quality from iM08 or 09 is to others to explain.
    *BUT on DVD quality*
    1. iDVD 08 & 09 has three levels of qualities.
iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality (movies up to 120 min.) - BEST
    • Best Performances (movies less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6) (movies up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
    2. From
    • FCE/P - Export out as full quality QuickTime.mov (not selfcontaining, no conversion)
    • iMovie x-6 - Don't use ”Share/Export to iDVD” = destructive even to movie project and especially so
when the movie includes photos. Instead just drop or import the iMovie movie project icon (with a Star on it) into iDVD theme window.
    • iMovie’08 not meant to go to iDVD. Go via Media Browser or rather use iMovie HD 6 from start.
    3. I use Roxio Toast™ to make an as slow burn as possibly eg x1 (in iDVD’08 or 09 this can also be set)
This can also be done with (Apple) Disk Util tool.
    4. There has to be about or more than 25Gb free space on internal (start-up) hard disk. iDVD can't
use an external one as scratch disk (if it is not start-up disc).
    5. Verbatim ( also recommended by many - Taiyo Yuden DVDs - I can’t get hold of it to test )
    6. DVD-R (no +R or +/-RW)
    7. Keep NTSC to NTSC - or - PAL to PAL when going from iMovie to iDVD
    8. Don’t burn more than three DVD at a time - but let the laser cool off for a while befor next batch.
    iDVD quality also depends on.
    • HOW much free space is there on Your internal (start-up) hard disk. Go for approx 25Gb.
less than 5Gb and Your result will most probably not play.
    • What kind of movie project You drop into it. MPEG4 seems to be a bad choice.
other strange formats are .avi, .wmv, .flash etc. Convert to streamingDV first
Also audio formats matters. I use only .aiff or from miniDV tape Camera 16-bit
strange formats often problematic are .avi, .wmv, audio from iTunes, .mp3 etc
Convert to .aiff first and use this in movie project
    • What kind of standard - NTSC movie and NTSC DVD or PAL to PAL - no mix.
(If You need to change to do a NTSC DVD from PAL material let JESDeinterlacer3.2.2 do the conversion)
(Dropping a PAL movie into a NTSC iDVD project
(US) NTSC DVDs most often are playable in EU
(EU) PAL DVDs most often needs to be converted to play in US
UNLESS. They are plabacked by a Mac - then You need not to care
    • What kind of DVDs You are using. I use Verbatim DVD-R (this brand AND no +R or +/-RW)
    • How You encode and burn it. Two settings prior iDVD’08 or 09
Pro Quality (only in iDVD 08 & 09)
Best / High Quality (not always - most often not)
Best / High Performances (most often my choise before Pro Quality)
    1. go to iDVD pref. menu and select tab far right and set burn speed to x1 (less errors = plays better) - only in iDVD 08 & 09
(x4 by some and may be even better)
    2. Project info. Select Professional Encoding - only in iDVD 08 & 09.
    Region codes.
iDVD - only burn Region = 0 - meaning - DVDs are playable everywhere
DVD Studio pro can set Region codes.
    1 = US
    2 = EU

  • What's the best settings to Export movie for smaller file sizes?

Hi, I've been working on some helmet cam footage which was taken with Xvidmpeg4.avi and was advised to convert it to dvavi for editing in PrE, this created a huge file to work with, the original footage was 206mb and the finished edited dvavi file is now 1.56gb, what settings can I use to export the movie with a much smaller file size, but hopefully try to retain some quality, to upload to places like Vimeo? I thought I would try to export it in the same as the original footage Xvidmpeg4.avi thinking this might compress it again to something like the 206mb of the original and the original was good quality footage, but PrE just hangs up with a box stating 'Xvid Status (Not Responding)' and when I try to cancel that the whole thing crashes and closes? So when I go to File > Export > Movie, what would be the best settings in:
    General > File Type ?
    Video > Compressor
lots of options under compressor if I select the file type as Microsoft AVI, so I'm guessing something under that would compress it to a smaller file size but what, I could spend all night trying different settings so hoping for some advice?
Or, if I'm completely in the wrong place for the settings and should be doing something else please tell me?
    Thanks, Gav

Thanks for the replies, but to me it's still confusing - simply because there are so many settings, if I go to Share/Personal Computer I'm then presented with a whole load of settings
    NTSC Flash Video
    MPEG
    DVAVI
    Windows Media
    QuickTime
and under each of those is a lot more advanced settings?
I'm guessing I wouldn't use flash or quicktime, so which of the others would I use and what are the advanced settings to use as I can't find anything that is .wmv or .mov
What I've done with other videos that I've exported from PrE as dvavi is then to put it through Windows Movie Maker, Publish Movie, This Computer, then put the settings to Windows Media DVD Quality (PAL) (3.0 Mps) - this seemed to be the only setting that reduced the file size considerably but still had good quality, but it's still about twice the original file size?
This all seems long winded to me, open original file, convert original file, output another file, then output the file again in something else which then results in loss of quality and a larger file than the original? I'm ending up with lots of files, was hoping just to edit in Premiere then export/publish that edited clip and that would be it, then upload to the net.
Is it not possible to just edit my original footage and save it, just like you would with something like a word document, should I be using something else and not Premiere?
    Thanks.

  • How do you convert a file from .mov to .avi in quicktime pro

I'm using a kodak Z50 digital camera that records video files as .mov files. I was told I could convert the files to .avi files using quicktime pro, but I can't figure out how to do it. Anyone know?

I am assuming you already are able to open the movie
in QT Player. Use Export in the File menu, choose
Movie to Avi in the drop-down Export Menu and then
click on Options to choose one of the pre-loaded avi
codecs for the compression. You may also want to
search for and install one of the newer codecs, such
as 3ivx or divx since the preinstalled codecs are all
    rather old.

  • Quicktime will not export .mov

I upgraded to a new PC today.  Windows ultimate 7, 32 GIG Ram, 2x E2640 processors, GTX 640 Ti video card.
I moved all of my Adobe software over to new machine.  Repurchased Quictime Pro for this machine.
Noting seems to be able to export a .mov file.  I can export .mp4, AVI, MPG, etc.  After Effects, Media Endocder, and even  Quicktime Pro are all unable to export a .mov. Each one crashes after the first few frames.  The Quicktime error code was huge.....
    After reading online I have:
        uninstalled and installed Quictime
Installed an earlier version of quicktime (7.6)
        Uninstalled and updated Adobe Products
Uninstalled all third party encoders (Avid)
        Disabled all firewalls.
Being able to export.mov is ESSENTIAL to my business.  I do video production.  Itis a pain inthe ***, but I am currently having to render .avi and go to another machine to export a .mov.  My previous workstation had no problems rendering .mov.
Any help would be appreciated.  Having a phone number to someone at Apple support would be appreciated.  Having support options on your support page for quicktime other than reading hundreds of random archived articles would be appreciated.  the support for quicktime on the apple site is ineffective.

    Just in from flip4mac support:
The recent release of QuickTime 7.2 created an audio compression error for Flip4Mac WMV Studio, Studio Pro and Studio Pro HD customers. Specifically, when encoding WMV files with Flip4Mac WMV v.2.1.2 using uncompressed audio sources on QuickTime 7.2 systems, customers were receiving "Inconsistent Audio Sample Rate" error and the encode will fail. This problem has been resolved with the beta release of Flip4Mac WMV v2.1.33. If you are using QuickTime 7.2, please upgrade to this release at http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv_beta.htm

  • Converting .mov to .avi

    Hi folks,
I'm looking for an option to output a batch of .mov files to .avi files for playback on a windows based media server.
I don't have any third party Quicktime Components installed.
When I try to set up my entry in compressor to save as a preset. There is no .avi under options.
The only way I can export .avi's on my machine is to open up each one in QT Player and export the movie using the "Quicktime to AVI" pulldown.
Any hints to be able to use Compressor to batch my .mov files to .avi files?

Create your own presset in Compressor.
Take a look at your settings. Change the codec to Cinepak and the extension to avi.
That's what Apple uses in the QT export.
Do test encode and determine first if the files can be viewed
