Export mp3 to usb

I know A way to do what I am about to ask.  It's just painful.
Ultimate Objective - export a playlist to a USB stick to play in my truck radio.  I would like the final product to be in the same format as an MP3 CD (i.e., with folders, etc).
Current Status - I know I can drag the playlist to the USB and it will dump all of the files into one folder (ROOT).  The problem is that my truck stereo only recognizes 100 songs per folder.  So I get the first 100 songs and that is it.
A way to do this - create MP3 CDs and then copy them to the USB stick.  That is very painful due to the fact that I have over 6GB of music that I want to end up on my USB stick.
What I'm wondering is if there is any way to get iTunes to burn to a folder (instead of a CD).  That way, I could just burn a series of folders on my local drive.  Then I could just copy those to the USB stick.
Something else that I thought of.  Does anyone know of an app or script that will take a group of MP3 files and sort them into folders based on artist/album/whatever.
Thanks for any ideas that you can give me.

iTunes can burn the Folder by Album to CD. This eliminates having to go into your Music Folder and manually do things.
How to Burn an MP3 Folder w/ iTunes
Put an empty CD in your CD/DVD burner
In iTunes select File >> New Playlist (or Ctrl-N)
Click on Music and drag the songs/albums to the new playlist you created
Click on the new playlist and then click on the Album column header until it says Album by Artist [1]
(If you don’t click on the Album column then the MP3 CD will be created with all of the songs in one folder. It’s better to create it with one folder per album because then you can use the next folder feature in your car / stereo to switch albums on the MP3 CD).
              5. Right click on the new playlist and select Burn Play List to Disc

It's only for MAC Users but that can solve a lot of your problems. This puts your playlists into the Finder view by folder.

I'm trying to export photos to usb and keep getting this message, "There is not enough disk space to complete that operation".  The usb is almost completely empty.  Is the problem with the library?

No - it is with the FAT format on the USB that has a very limited number of root tems - select the phtoos in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder (see the user tip on exporting for the options available) then using the finder drag that folder to the mounted, unlocked USG drive

  • Exported MP3s Too Quiet

When I export a song the volume of the exported MP3 is like at least 25% quieter, and I can't figure out a way to stop that. In GarageBand it is at a reasonable level, and increasing the volume of the project distorts the sound.
Is there anyway to retain the volume of playback in GarageBand without distorting the song?

  • Export MP3 form Final Cut?

Hi, Is it possible to export MP3 directly from Final Cut? Any third party plug-ins or suggestions? Thanks

I don't think so. I use Cleaner. You can use ITunes. Check out versiontracker.com. I'm sure there are some freeware/shareware utilities out there that will do it.

Could be. Search the AppleScript forum under OS X Technologies. For Automator stuff, start with http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2039384 and Introduction to Automator tutorial at http://automator.us/leopard/video/index.html

When I try to export anything, I repeat ANYTHING as an MP3 I get an error screen. (mov, avi, mp4, aif, etc..)
I noticed that my export to MP3 options are a little slim. Ideas?
For now taking the files and opening them in iTunes to convert works, but I'd rather not have to hack things to make them work.
    Thanks.

You appear to be using a third-party plug-in or codec to enable the MP3 export since to the best of my knowledge Apple doesn't supply an MP3 codec with QuickTime. The only Apple-supplied solution is iTunes.
Perhaps you need to go back to the third-party solution provider or to the customer support area for that particular product. If it's unsupported open source or freeware then you may be out of luck, but it could be useful if you identified the source of your MP3 codec.

  • Exported mp3 file size is huge!

Does anyone know how to control the size of an exported song? For a 5 minute track I'm getting a 60Mb MP3!! I'm guessing this is done by setting the a different bit rate for the exported song but can't find any options in Garageband to do this.
With such huge file sizes it makes it difficult to share the song through my website.

No, you're not getting a 60 MB MP3, but a 60 MB AIFF file, and that's the regular size for uncompressed audio files. The bitrate in GB is fixed, and you wouldn't want to change it. Instead, convert the file into an MP3 or AAC in iTunes.
(Come back if you need help with doing that.)

  • CD cover art gone when exporting mp3

Hi. My girlfriend's home computer doesn't have an internet connection so I used my iMac to import several of her CDs to iTunes, placing all the songs on a special playlist. Then I went ahead and burned an mp3 CD. When I import the mp3 files to her iTunes there is no album artwork, the CD covers are simply gone. Is there a special way to export the files so that the CD covers are also exported? We are using iTunes 7.5. Thanks,
    Cesar

  • How to export MP3 from iTunes to sD card

My car radio has an sD slot and can play MP3 files. How do I export from iTunes to an sD card in MP3 format?
    Thanks,
    John

Insert the card into a card reader and connect it to your Mac. Open iTunes and when the card is mounted on the desk top highlight the songs you want and drag them from the iTunes to the card icon.
If the songs in iTunes aren't in MP3 Format you'll need to convert them before dragging them to your card. You can use iTunes to convert any copy protection free songs in your library another format. When you convert a song in iTunes it will be converted to the format that you have set to import your CDs in. Converting creates a second copy of the song in the format you have chosen which gives you the opportunity to either keep or delete the original. If you are using iTunes 8 go to Edit>Preferences>General and click on Import Settings,, Change your Import format to MP3 Encoder for example and choose the Setting or "bit rate" you want. Go back to your library and highlight the songs you want to convert and go to the Advanced menu at the top of your iTunes window and choose "Create MP3 version": iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format
One exception to this are standard copy protected songs (if you haven't upgraded to iTunes Plus versions) purchased from the iTunes Music Store which can't be directly converted due to the DRM (Digital Rights Management) copy protection. However you can burn these to an Audio CD which will work like any regular CD.

  • PSE 9 Mac: How to Export Pictures on USB

    Hi,
I changed from PSE 8 Windows to PSE 9 on Mac. I`ve got some arranged pictures in the organizer as patches (originals + arranged versions). Now, I would like save the first picture of the batches on a USB-Stick. In PSE 8 for Windows I do it with "file" and "export as a new file". There is no "export as a new file" for PSE 9 for Mac. What can I do?

    On the Mac use:

  • Exporting to a USB "flash" drive

I am trying to download photo files from iPhoto '08 to a SanDisk USB 1GB flash drive. The export goes OK until about half of the files have been transferred, then I get messages saying there is no space. When I "get info" about the flash drive it shows that about 350MB is used with around 605 MB available! This is actually the second flash drive I've tried. The first time around I inadvertently bought a flash drive formatted for Windows Vista so I figured the non-Mac format was the source of the problem. It's funny because for both drives, the downloading stopped at the same point. I've tried re-downloading images from my camera to iPhoto but the newly downloaded files don't transfer either. Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you.

The flash drive is formatted for PCs and only lets a limited number of files get placed in the root directory. If you add a folder to the flash drive you can add all of your photos to it up to the drive's limit.
If you're only going to use the flash drive with the Mac then you can reformat it as MacDLS suggested. If you ever expect to use it to take photos to a photofinisher for printing to transfer photos to a PC then leave it formatted as it is and just use folders to put your files in.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • CD to mp3 to USB memory = problems

Hi! My mother has bought a few CDs with bird song. For some reason, it doesn't play on her MacBook, though it does on the regular audio CD player, and also on my iMac. I can't see anything on the discs mentioning copy protection or anything like that. Anyway, I figured I could simply pop the CD into my computer, convert it to mp3s, put it on my brand new Kingston DataTraveler USB memory, and give it to her. Alas, for some reason my computer crashes when I try to move the files from the HD to the memory. The window that pops up showing the estimated time for the transfer just stops after a short while, and canceling doesn't help, the window remains open. Force quitting Finder makes everything crash, and I'm left to reboot (twice now).
At first I though there was some kind of conflict between iTunes (potentially "using" the mp3s somehow) and the transfer, but this happens even if iTunes is quit.
    Any ideas? Thanks.
17" iMac, intel core 2 duo 2.0 Ghz, 2 GB ram, 250 GB hd   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Wireless keyboard and mouse, Swedish OS

Most memory sticks are formatted for Windows. Thus file naming conventions won't match, and so data may not get transferred over. Archive said MPEG-3s on the hard drive as zip files using control-mouse click archive command.
Note both you and your mother probably can't have the music at the same time legally. While it won't prevent you from playing it, we have to mention this to stay within the law on the forums. If she wants the music, she needs to either buy it from you, or buy her own copy. Check the copyright laws for music in your state.
