Export mp4 to mp3

I want to update the library on my old mp3 player.
Copying from iTunes works but the mp3 player will only play tracks that are in mp3 format.
That is fair enough.
So how do I export iTunes tracks that are in mp4 format and convert them to mp3 at the same time?
Cheers
John

Ah so that's how it works.
I understand now. Thanks.

  • Export songs in mp3 to sd card

How can I export my Itunes (mac) library to an sd card in mp3 format?
    thank you

What you want to do won't be pretty but things never are when you try to do things iTunes isn't really designed to do.
Convert the tracks to mp3 format if they are not already in that format.  If you do convert you will end up with many duplicates in multiple formats.

Drag the mp3 tracks you select in the iTunes window to the card open in a window in Finder.  If you want these in a folder on that card you may find you cannot drag directly to the folder but will have to drag to the top level first, then move to the folder as a separate step.

  • Sharing an iMovie as an MP4 with MP3 audio

I have an iMovie that is complete. I have uploaded a Quicktime movie to Google video. The video plays but no audio. They are telling me that they prefer MP4 with MP3 audio. If I go to share in iMovie, I choose "export" mode. This gives me the MP4 option, but no way to change the audio to mp3. Am I missing something?

iMovie doesn't use (or create) .mp3 (MPEG-1 Layer 3) audio.
From the Google video upload pages:
    Technical Requirements:
We accept many popular formats, such as AVI, ASF, QuickTime, Windows Media and MPEG formats. For example, .avi, .asf, .mov, .wmv, .mpg, .mpeg, .mp4, .ra, .ram, and .mod are all acceptable file extensions. Please note that we currently do not accept Flash files. Specific video codecs we accept include H.264, H.263, MPEG 1/2/4 and motion JPEG.
The video must contain recognizable video content (video container files that do not contain video will not be accepted).
The frame rate should be above 12 frames per second.
The bitrate must be above 260 Kbps.
The video must be at least 10 seconds long.
If you have a video in another format, we will do our best to interpret it.
    Quality Recommendations:
If possible, we suggest uploading the original source file. However, we recommend the specifications below for maximum quality and reasonable file size:
    MPEG4 (mp3 or mp4 audio) at 2 mbps
    MPEG2 (mp3 or mp4 audio) at 5 mbps
    30 frames per second
    640x480 resolution
    4:3 frame
    de-interlace
MPEG-4 Video and AAC audio codecs in a .mov container should work just fine.

  • Why does my exported mp4 file look so bad when it is viewed in adobe acrobat pdf file?

I have embedded an mp4 (exported from premier pro cs6) video file into adobe acrobat and its not sharp viewing of my video anymore. It was a sharp video when viewed in both premier and the exported mp4 files, but once embedded in acrobat it looses sharpness, anyone know what the problem might be? Could my settings  in adobe acrobat be wrong? I would think the problem is in adobe acrobat since the exported mp4 video views crisp and clear before its embedded, any ideas to assure sharpness with my video after its embedded into the adobe acrobat pdf?
Hoping someone has an answer to this, I think my problem might lie within the adobe acrobat settings????
or maybe there is no way around and I need to expect this video not to look as crisp and clear after I embed it into acrobat.... as it is when viewing in premier pro, mp4, etc.????
Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated.
Someone Im sure is taking theri exported premier files and embedding them to create pdf files? Would love to hear if anyone has encountered this issue.
Thanks so much in advance for any help offered.

    Hi Dave,
I just completed a test and comparison between the two PDF's,
compared the file as you suggested with the floating option and changing setting to actual size of the original premier pro / mp4 file size and
the old pdf that did not utilize the floating and file size option.
I do notice a slight difference. The PDF with the floating window with the match of the media clips original dimensions appears to be crisper.
I will be having the final pdf document set utilizing this method for the embeded mp4 movie and hope that the department doing this (next stage of this job) will agree that this is better to use your steps to embed all the video files into a pdf.
Thanks so much for your time.
Hope you had a happy holiday, and hope you have a very happy and healthy new year.
    Thanks, Amy

Yeah, I remember someone posted that solution a long time
ago. It seems if you load a file with the same name the cache
    doesn't
know any better and adjusts the download size to the smaller
one. Maybe it's a good way to do it! Could it be a way to remove an
mp3 from someone's cache after it plays? hmmmm Will have to
    do more testing.

  • HELPPPP!! need converter from  mp4 to mp3 or wave

Does anybody knows how find converter for mp4 to mp3, wav, or anything that readable for the car cd player?
    Thanks
Mac Book pro 17 inch   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

You should be able to use iTunes to convert your music to a different file format.
*To convert a song's file format:
Choose iTunes > Preferences, then click the Advanced button at the top of the window and click Importing.
From the Import Using pop-up menu, choose the encoding format that you want to convert the song to, then click OK to save the settings.
Select one or more songs in your library, then choose Advanced > Convert Selection to MP3, Convert Selection to AAC, Convert Selection to Apple Lossless, Convert Selection to AIFF, or Convert Selection to WAV. (The menu item changes to show what's selected in your Importing preferences.)
To convert all the songs in a folder or on a disk, hold down the Option key and choose Advanced > "Convert Selection to," then choose the folder or disk containing the songs you want to convert. All the songs in the folder or on the disk will be converted except songs you purchased from the iTunes Store. (Purchased songs are encoded using a protected AAC format that prevents them from being converted.)

    Hope this helps.

  • Export Sound to MP3?

Is there a way to Export Sound to MP3 in QuickTime Pro? Is there some sort of plugin that you download or buy to add this feature? I know iTunes can create MP3 files, but I'd love to be able to do it in QuickTime Pro.

Thanks for the info Rob. The sound plays fine in Flash. The export settings are: 16-bit stereo 44.100kHz H264. Could the video H264 compression be the problem? Without the H64 compression the video triples in size. Something I'm trying to avoid. I will give no audio compression a try.

  • Gamma shift when exporting MP4

I know this is a known issue, but I have yet to see a viable solution.
Working off PC and exporting via Adobe encoder.
When exporting H.264 in an mp4 container, there are significant gamma shift issues that void several hours/days of color correction work. It really washes out the color.  I have viewed these exported mp4's in quicktime and VLC on multiple computers and the issue is still present.
Quicktime MOV exports seem to be fine, it is only when exporting H.264 mp4.
Some have mentioned changing the NVIDIA settings which seems to be an internal fix for that monitor, but I am exporting video's that will be going on the web for distribution.  I really need consistency across all media platforms.
This is a very big deal that needs attention and hopefully a fix is in the works if it is not already out there.
    Thanks,
    Austin

    Gamma shift once clip starts
    Pure black before clip starts
    Thanks for the reply!
The above demonstration is the same in VLC as well.
We exported black for a few seconds and then faded into a jpg image using the generic fade in effect.
All that was used in this clip was a jpg image at the end that we faded into. For this test we used no video.

Only third party installed effects are film impact transitions, but they were not used in this clip.

  • Mp4 or mp3?

The songs I purchased from the itunes store are mpeg4 or mp4 files. I don't have an ipod, I have a phillips mp3 player that ONLY plays mp3 files. How do I convert the files from mp4 to mp3?

If you have purchased the protected AAC files, the only thing you can do is burn them to an audio CD. The iTunes plus files are unprotected & can be directly changed to another format.
The store has NEVER sold mp3 format files. I would suggest that if you need mp3 format that you check sites such as amazon.com, emusic.com, or audiolunchbox.com which sell files in mp3 format, no conversion required.

  • Error message when converting from mp4 to mp3

Three songs I just purchased won't convert from mp4 to mp3, although all of the other songs--including one from the same album these 3 are from--converted just fine. I keep getting "an unknown error occurred" message. How can I convert these 3 songs? Should I exit the iTunes store and reload it (in effect rebooting the store)? Or what?

Purchase only iTunes Plus songs, change the default encoder in iTunes to MP3 from the General section of its preferences, right-click the songs, and change them to MP3.

Really????   Not allowed to share MP4s or MP3s??? for piracy concerns??? really????   on a system where to subscrive I have to give my real name, address, credit card, etc....   im going to use it to share pirated movies???  really???
Adobe.... MP4s is the most coomn format used by EVERY SINGLE postproduction house in the world to show content to their clients....  MP3s is the most coomn format for audio post houses to show content to their clients.....   now you want to change the way 99% of the post houses in the world make their business??? Really?   Come down to Earth please!!!!

I totally agree!  Crazy to think that we don't use these formats EVERYDAY! How are we supposed to deliver a file for YouTube?  Do you know that a ton of radio spots are delivered as mp3's?
    Looking else where.

  • New updates won't transfer any MP4 or MP3 files anymore!

Ok... before the itune and ipod update, I've had absolutely no problem transfering my mp4 video files or my mp3 files into my ipod. I usually just drag the icons from my folder to itunes.
Now after updating in itunes 7 and updating my ipod through it, I cant transfer any mp4 or mp3 files anymore?!?!? What the heck? It will show it transfering at the top (of itunes) but I cant locate ANY of the new files I placed in my ipod. I ALWAYS use manual update and I dont want to change it because I dont want to lose all of my stuff on my ipod.
What the heck is the problem???
30GB 5th gen Ipod   Windows XP

WAIT A SEC!!!! i think i've figured it out... just DOUBLE check and TRIPLE check that you have the LATEST version of quicktime... I thought I did, but as it turned out, i had version 7.0.4 when the latest is 7.1. So after i upgraded quicktime, itunes worked fine, and i was able to load videos onto both itunes and my ipod successfully.... even the 1.2 update stopped causing problems. Once again, just MAKE SURE you have the latest update of quicktime. You don't need to go pro, just make sure you have 7.1. I hope this works for everyone like it did for me...
