Export of KM favorites

Hi all.
Does anybody know of an easy way to export the KM favorites of all portal users - and import them into another portal containing the same users?
When logged on to the portal as an administrator, I navigate in KM to root > userhome. But I can only see the folder of my administrator user, not all the other user folders. It looks like the user folders are created by a service user "cmadmin_service". Is there any way I could log on to the portal as that user? - Then I guess I would be able to see all the folders. If I could see all the folders, then I would be able to export them?
Any ideas would be very much appreciated!!
Thanks,
Jakob

Hi Lai.
Thanks for your reply.
I don't think that using Migration tools is an option, since both the source and target portals are EP6 SP2. Also, I am only interested in moving the favorites, not all the content.
Development, I would like to avoid if possible, but it may be the only way.
I have considered using ICE but the problem is that I can only see the user folder of the currently logged on user - even if logged on to the portal as a super administrator. That means that I am not able to select the other user folders when creating the ICE offer. Is there an easy way to select the favorites folder of all users, so they can be transferred with ICE?
Best regards
Jakob

  • Export/import portal favorites

Hi, we have NW2004 Portal SP16.  Is it possible to export/import portal favorites between users?  The reason I asked is that we are planning on using 2 LDAP data sources in production and some users will be migrated in Active Directory from companyA.com to companyB.com.  We noticed in our development environment that the favorites are gone.
    Thanks in advance

I asked OSS and they said :
you should be able to transport these as an
offline package using ICE. It should simply be a case of transporting
over the userhome directory. However, please insure that the user is
a system principal and has full control of all the userhome
directories otherwise you may experience problems with permissions.
Please see the link below regarding transporting Offline content in ICE

  • I imported my IE Favorites folders but they are empty. I also tried exporting my IE Favorites to a html file but still did not work.

All of my folders came over but are empty. I also exported my IE Favorites to a html file and then imported them but they also came over empty and there are no favorite links shown that were not in folders. When I look at the html file, I can see all the links.

You only get a "From Internet Explorer" bookmarks folder if you use the Import wizard (Import Data from Another Browser).<br />
Otherwise the bookmarks should just be appended at the end of the Bookmarks Menu folder.
It is possible that the file path is too deeply nested if import isn't working.

  • Yahoo hijacked my Mozilla. How to export my favorites before I uninstall it?

I thought malware attacked me, but I see it is Yahoo that caused the problem I guess. I just clicked on what I thought was a usual Mozilla update when turning on the computer a few days ago, and paid no attention, but I did wrong I guess.
I want to export my Mozilla favorites on what appears to be "Mozilla Firefox Yahoo! Edition yahoo - 1.17 "and try uninstalling Mozilla and starting over. Then import my favs. How do I export my favorites to a file so I can import them again all fresh. I see no options anywhere to do this and help doesn't show how to do this with Yahoo Hijacking me.
    Thanks

Your personal data is unaffected when uninstalling, as long as you don't check the "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" option. You can create a bookmarks backup in JSON format. It's specific to Firefox and when imported, it replaces your current set of bookmarks. Or you can export bookmarks in HTML format. It's common to all browsers, and when imported, it adds bookmarks to your current set.

    * [[Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks]]
That being said, it should be enough to remove MySearchDial and Yahoo! Toolbar from the Add-ons Manger, Extensions category.

I also strongly recommend fully scanning your system with the anti-malware applications listed in the following article.

  • Firefox will not import all of the favorites from Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1 64-bit OS!

There is another post about this problem in the forum, but the answer does not work. This is the first time I've ever encountered this problem when installing/using Firefox on my desktop PC. I have a new (3/25/14) Dell XPS 8700 desktop tower with Windows 8.1 64-bit (and now Update 1) installed, along with Internet Explorer 11. I previously had a 2005 Dell Dimension 5100 desktop tower running XP Pro SP3 32-bit, which never had any issues running Firefox, but has since died. I used to run Firefox as my default browser, but not any longer. Now, during the install process, Firefox asks if you want to import from Internet Explorer, as it has always done before. I chose yes, and it reported that it pulled everything in from IE. However, it only imported my favorites folders whose names start with a numeral, and then A, B, and onward down the alphabet, but it doesn't import anything more after getting to the folders whose names start with E. So, all of my remaining Favorites folders whose names start with F, G, and forward down the alphabet from there are all absent from Firefox's Bookmarks. I also tried importing the favorites after installing Firefox, which I don't prefer since Firefox installs a folder called Internet Explorer to go to first to get to your favorites. However, still, Firefox only brought in my favorites folders from A to E, and stopped there again. I do not see any way to export my favorites from Internet Explorer (there is no import/export option under favorites, nor anywhere else in IE 11). Uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox resulted in the same problem, even after making sure to delete my settings, etc., in the process. Please update Firefox's installation executable so it's able to import ALL of Internet Explorer 11's favorites folders and their contents, complete, as it has always done before. Please contact me when the corrected executable to install Firefox properly is ready for download. Thank you.

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.

  • Preparing for iOS 6: Maps bookmarks and YouTube favorites

I am excited about the upcoming iOS 6, however, I have some reservations about my backup data:
Now that Maps is getting a complete overhaul, I'm wondering if my bookmarks will be lost. Does anyone know if the bookmarks will still be there? Can anyone who's installed iOS 6 beta tell me if they lost or retained their maps bookmarks?
Also, I understand the built in youtube app will be removed, to be replaced by a 3rd party download from the app store. I have kept many favorites in my youtube app, however I have never signed in to youtube from my iphone. I don't imagine there's a way to transfer them from the old app to the new one before updating (that would just be too easy) is it perhaps possible to sign in to youtube and backup favorites stored in-app to a youtube account? If not, any other suggestions as to how to backup / export / transfer youtube favorites?
    Thanks!

I wish I had know this before painstakingly transfering each favorite manually! Well it's done now, so all my favorites are in my new google/youtube account so hopefully that means I'll never have to worry about it again. Also, I noticed that after updating to iOS 6 my Safari bookmarks had a new folder called "YouTube - Aleks iPhone" (the name of my iPhone) that contained all of my youtube favorites. Is it safe to assume this was a clever solution built in by Apple. That would've also been nice to know about ahead of time.
Just in case anyone else is curious, I can confirm that the Maps app retains all bookmarks, as well as recents. However, anyone in Chicagoland, be warned: I just tested the new turn-by-turn directions today, and on 90/94 west where it splits into the Kennedy and the Edens... when I approached it told me to take the exit for the Kennedy, even though I knew I needed the Edens. I checked the overview of the directions, and it had the correct route and said the right way to turn, it just decided to call the Edens the Kennedy for some odd reason, until of course I was already past the split and it said continue onto the Edens. I don't know if that's on Apple or TomTom, but clearly there's some kinks to work out. Overall, however, it's a huge improvement over the old Maps.

  • Is it possible to import "Favorites" from AOL?

Can easily import favorites from IE, but no such luck with moving my AOL favorites to FireFox. Anyone know how? Thanks.

You can use the following link to export the AOL favorites to an HTML file, you can then import that HTML file into Firefox.

  • I copied my bookmarks from Favorites folder on old computer and pasted them into the same folder, same drive, and they do not appear in the Bookmarks pulldown inside Firefox. Can you help me?

I copied them to a new computer (not clear from my question).

Firefox doesn't use the IE Favorites folder.<br />
Firefox stores the bookmarks in the Firefox Profile Folder

If you no longer have access to that old computer then you can try to import the IE favorites or export the IE favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in Firefox.

  • Anyone have any idea which is the best application for taking notes and essay writting?

im starting my first year of university and i was wondering what would the best application for taking notes on be? and also whats the easiest, most reliable and effective way to transfer documents off the ipad? Any thoughts on printing aswell?
will be appreciating all the help i can get!

You're going to get as many answers to that question as there are people to answer it. You don't state if you want to take handwritten notes or if you will be typing. For handwritten notes, I really like Noteshelf. It has lots of export options, my favorite being to Evernote (which you might want to look into as well for storage). For typing notes, I'd go with Pages, Documents to Go or QuickOffice. For working with PDFs, I like PDF Expert.
I've recently heard good things about Note Anytime. It is free for a limited time, so it'st probably worth downloading to try out.

  • I formatted my hard drive and have tons of bookmarks I saved, but I can't figure out how to get them from my old folder into my new folder for my bookmarks.

I formatted my hard drive and backed up all my bookmarks to an external hard drive. I now want to take my bookmarks from my external hard drive and put them into my freshly formatted computer but I can't seem to find the place on my hard drive to save my bookmarks to. I searched everywhere online and it keeps telling me to import an html, but that doesn't help when I have about 20 bookmark folders and about 100 bookmarks altogether. Please help. Thank you.

    '''''"... I have about 20 bookmark folders and about 100 bookmarks altogether. " '''''
Firefox doesn't store bookmarks like that, sound like a Windows / IE favorites scheme used for '''''url''''' files and folders which isn't directly compatible with the way Firefox does things. Firefox uses a '''json''' file for bookmark backups, a '''bookmarks.html''' for import and export is bookmarks, and stores the users bookmarks in the '''places.sqlite''' file, along with browsing history.
Put those folders and bookmarks in the '''\user\Favorites\''' folder so they are in IE and export your IE Favorites in HTML format, so you can import them into Firefox.
    In IE:
File > Import/Export - Export to HTML file
    ''then in Firefox:'' <br />
Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup - Import HTML... = From HTML file

  • How do I get Pages to import references and post the information as a footnote from Logos Bible Software?

I want to move to the iPad as my only computer, but am a bit frustrated by the loss of some features in the IOS version of Pages. I need the ability to create structured outlines with footnote and endnote capability. Logos Bible Software imports many cross references and properly annotates passages that I copy and paste in Microsoft Word on my PC, but I cannot get pages to do the samething on my iPad. In fact I really miss the outline generation capability in Pages.  Is this something that will be addressed? Are there workarounds?

  • How do I get Flash to reload on second visit in Internet Explorer?

I am trying to create a webpage, and am having a bit of an issue with Internet Explorer. I created the home page in Dreamweaver and have a Flash animation on that page. It plays in the page window, without opening a pop-up window. It is set to Autoplay and Loop, which is all well and good and the first time you load it, it works just fine. The problem is, if you go to another page and then navigate back to the home page, the animation doesn't restart, it just sits on the first frame. Internet Explorer is the only browser that has this issue, it works fine in all the others (Chrome, Safari, and Mozilla).
So I am wondering what code do I need to put in to fix this problem? I have searched over the web and tried various methods, such as putting in coding to do no cache or trying to change the URL to create a random number with Flash, but so far nothing has worked. I could really use the help, as this is driving me crazy! Anybody know how to fix this problem? Thanks.

  • How do I get Firefox to import ALL my bookmarks from Internet Explorer?

I've recently installed Firefox on my WXP computer, to replace IE. During installation, Firefox automatically put up a dialog offering to import all my bookmarks (i.e. Favourites) from IE, and I accepted. The resulting page confirmed that my bookmarks had been imported. However, on looking at the actual list of bookmarks "Imported from IE", I saw that the main Favourite headings had been imported in alphabetical order - which is fine - but that the import had stopped at the letter S. That meant that some important main Favourite headings (e.g. "Travel") hadn't been imported.
I then went to your tutorial pages and followed the instructions for "Importing Personal Data from Other Browsers", asking for just bookmarks to be imported from IE. What happened was that once again, FF imported only the Favourite titles up to initial S. (And now, furthermore, all the imported ones were duplicates of the ones already imported at set-up). Would you tell me, please, what I need to do to get the complete list of Favourites imported from IE?
    Thanks a lot.
    Ian Stewart
