Export or Share back to camera

Just wondering if iMovie 09 brings back the "export to camera" feature that was taken away in iMovie 08.

Are you saying that while importing, iMovie 09 changes the DV codec and FCE/FCP does not?
The consensus seems to be that iMovie '08 used single-field processing for editing manipulations. For many, this was unacceptable. Still waiting for test results to come in regarding iMovie '09. (I have not had a chance to run any new tests as iWeb forced me to re-publish all of my web sites and while the first four went okay, I have 25 GBs of multimedia on just the one that has been re-publishing since 19:30 last night.) In any case, iMovie HD, FCE, and FCP all use both fields for sure when editing.
I don't think it's unreasonable to think that a project should be able to be exported from iMovie back to the same type of device it originally came from. I'm not an engineer, but why not!
And I assume most people would also consider it reasonable too -- i.e., "if you can do it for one, why can't you do it for everybody?" For one thing, you would need encoders for each variant of each codec used by each of the manufacturers which may or may not vary by camcorder model, as well as, keeping up with changes and virtually all of them not supported by the QT structure. Would you care to take on this responsibility? (Take a look at the QT forum complaints following release of QT 7.6 -- and this is Apple's own multimedia software.)

  • Exporting from iMovie back to camera

Still have iMovie 6.0.3 and for the first time, when exporting back to the camera, I get the sound but not the video. So, what have I failed to do. Having made about 80 movies, all of a sudden some new problems that I should be able to solve. And I have not tried iMovie 11 yet.

You should not need to convert to QuickTime.
I do not use the Share/Export to iDVD function within iMovie - it forces iMovie to render (not good)
    I do -
    • close iMovie
    • open iDVD
    • either find the movie project icon (with a Star on it) and just drag and drop it into
iDVD project/menu window. OR Rather from within iDVD IMPORT the iMovie project
    (still same with a Star)
This put's it in place - drag and drop can land it in a button area - will not work.
NOW - iDVD will render it and so much better.

But say i have an imovie project with content up to 1 hour 57 minutes total> dont I have to go to idvd if i am going to change aspect ration to 4:3 and choose rendering quality?
When you just drop it into the idvd menu are you asked which template to use?,
and how does it actually render it better?
Many of my movies are a mix of HD and SD due to timeline type of movies spanning years, so up to 2 hours of imovie content, and i do 4:3 ratio because of people that watch dont have 16:9 T.V's, and then i select say best quality or performance so that i know it can fit on one SD disc?
The way you describe are you asked the same questions inside iDVD?
and if so or not, how does the video actually get rendered " better" in iDVD?
OH ALSO WHAT ARE SOME OF THE REASONS to export imovie project back to camcorder?
i have never tried this, and would like to know some of the reasons? thanks again again
thanks so much, very interested in upping my movie quality

  • Fix for the hanging/exporting from Imovie back to camera tape??

I've been trying to export my Imovie back to Hi 8 tape on my Sony trv480 camcorder and it hangs on both my Imac and my Ibook. I have plenty of memory and have tried all the suggestions that people have made here on the website and nothing works. I hope there is some help out there somewhere because it seems like plenty of other people have had the same problem.

    Hi Mary Ellen
There are miniDV Cameras pref bought in Europe that has the recording
facility (from analog-in or FW-in) disabled because of tax issue.
If so then You can't record back to Camera until You let a Service shop
turn recording on - at a rather pricey cost.
I don't think thay made something this stupid in USA.

  • Exporting DVD projects back to Sony DCR PC1000 camera

    Good evening Apple community
I've been having problems exporting finished projects back to my camera. Sometimes it works, but mostly it gets stuck. Is it possible to export back to an external dvd hard drive recorder? The model I have is a Pioneer DVR 520H.
Do I have to set the iMovie preferences to play back through the camera and then just hit the record button on my dvd recorder?
    Appreciate any help.

  • Why is sharing HDV iMovie Project back to camera not in real time?

The posting from Michel Raymond on Dec 22th, 2009 asked the question of why is the transfer of iMovie HD Project to camera so long. In his case a 50 minute iMovie Project would have taken 1300 minutes to transfer had he proceeded.
In my posting of Dec 18th I pointed that my 57 minutes 48 GB HDV Project would have taken 43 hours to archive back to camera on mini DV tape.
Bengt Warleby, in his reply on Dec 23rd to Michel Raymond's posting, said that " to copy back to camera (mini DV tape) should take same as movie duration".
So I carried out a simple check of this possibility by downloading 6 minutes of HDV original footage to make a new 6 minute 4.2 GB iMovie Project. No editing was carried. ie no voice-overs, no transitions, nothing extra at all to modify the original footage. I then shared this Project back to the same video camera from which the original footage had been downloaded.
The first stage , "Mixing Audio" was very quick, less than 1 minute.
The 2nd stage of "Encoding" TOOK 23 MINUTES!
The final stage of "Writing to tape" took 6 minutes.
SO, IT TOOK A TOTAL OF 30 MINUTES TO TRANSFER BACK A 6 MINUTE iMOVIE PROJECT TO CAMERA.
WHY? Why was further encoding required when no changes or additions had been made to the original footage? Why was it not transferred back in the same real time as it was downloaded?
HELP.! I really need to have some answers.

in iM09, choose Export using QT, and for SD choose dv-stream, HD choose QT/AppleIntermediate.. these are the only two codecs in use in iMHD6.. don't be surprised: ~13/40GBs/h ..
Is Apple considering an update to add the share to camera feature to '09 or possibly in a future version? It's a valuable tool for archiving to tape rather than DVD/HD.
speculation, esp. on future  products is not allowed as topic on this board..
.. imho, this feature was axed&buried finally with iMHD6..

  • Export or Share?

    Hi,
After reading numerous posts and answers, I need some basic guidance. Have an iMovie 09 movie w/stills. Fixed the pixelated stills by sharing into Media Browser - stills came out sharp as a tack in the movie <but> the video quality was disappointing.
What gives the best video quality without pixilated stills? Share or Export - share to what, or export to what in order to make a DVD with .iDVD? Special settings?
    Thanks,

  • Export gives "Unable to create" error,Can't EXPORT or SHARE modified images

I am running iPhoto 8.1.2 and I cannot export or share any images I modify.
Upon editing images (cropping or enhancing color profile), I am unable to drag and drop images to my desktop (gives a "∅" symbol) which I used to do all the time. I cannot export them - iPhoto gives an error: "Unable to create" filename error...
If I look at the "Show file" and verify the contents of the folder, none of the images I have modified appear there. If I look at "Show original file" all the original files are there but do not have my edits/cropping, etc. Where are my modified images going and how can I get to them? iPhoto seems like it is getting Alzheimer's or something...
I have tried closing and re-opened iPhoto and all the images thumbnails appear to be ok with my updated crops/enhancements. Double-clicking and opening them opens files with the correct edit/enhancements. Everything seems ok until I try to export or share any of the modified photos.
I tried rebuilding iPhoto and selecting the first 4 options but after the rebuild the problem still persists...
None of the files that I cropped/enhanced appear in the "Modified" folder for that date. There are some files there, but they appear to be files that I deleted!
So, where are my cropped/enhanced photos going??? iPhoto shows them ok in the Events, etc. but they are not in the "Modified" folder and I cannot export, drag/drop, email or share them...
This has been happening to me for awhile now and it is very frustrating. iPhoto is ok so long as I don't do any cropping or enhancing. If I do that, then it gets all screwed up...
I know that I can use something like "iPhoto Library Manager" to rebuild stuff but I don't want to lose any of my data. I have done extensive work with faces, places, attributes, names, etc...
I JUST WANT iPHOTO TO WORK LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO AND LIKE IT USED TO!
    Thanks,
    Steve

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair Library permissions.
If the permissions have been mucked up somehow, it's likely that your edits have not been saved.
    If the fails:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • How to correctly export and share an ADF project?

We are having some trouble with our SVN, so for the moment I am trying to share an ADF application I started developing with another developer by making a zip file of the entire application directory. We are both using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.
My colleague extracts the zip file and opens the application jws file, but JDeveloper on his machine does not seem to be recognizing that it is an ADF application. Many of the ADF libraries are missing in the project classpath, and the design editor does not open JSF files correctly, and shows lots of errors.
Why might this be happening? What is the correct way to export and share an ADF application workspace?

First thng to try is to rename the system11.1.1.x.x.x.x folder and start jdev again. Jdev will recreate the folder, but any bad configuration inside the folder are gone and this might help to get it running again. However, all customization done in jdev are gone. It's like jdev is freshly installed.
If you try this and get the question if you like to migrate from an older version answer 'no' as you might get the error back this way.

  • I can't export or share my project.

Okay, I am a beginner and trying my best. But right now my best is definately not good enough.
I am using the 30-day trial of Final Cut Pro X with the latest updates. It's only limitation is the 30-day trial so I should be able to export and share my project.
After I mark the project and then click on the share-symbol->export I get the following message: "This item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera." I have also tried file->share but that menu is in gray and I can't click the options. If I click on any of the clips in the events window I can export them but that's not what I want to do.
I can't remove the trial and download it again since I can only download it once.
I suspect it might have something to do with my organizing the clips and the original files. My originals are in a folder on the desktop and that is the location I import media from into Final Cut's events.
If you have any ideas, please help me out.
    Sincerely,
    Edith

    Thanks for your fast reply!
I had the copy to event function checked on. The folder is a regular folder that I created on my desktop. I have put other folders inside that folder, one of which is called "FILM" and contains 10 camera archive folders that the camera (Sony NEX-5N) created for me. That is how the footage was automatically uploaded onto my MacBook Pro. Each of the camera archive folders contains multiple clips.

  • Quicktime cant export or share!

My Quicktime can't export or share files!
The Export seems to work fine but crashes in the end, the exported file crashes every software (Quicktime, iMovie, Mail etc.)
The same problem when exporting in iMovie!
The same file converts just fine on my girlfriends mac.
    What can I do?
(I run the latest system and Quicktime pro version on an iMac G5...)
    Thanks in advance!
    //Mikael

Yes the files opens and plays perfectly in Quicktime.
I have had this problem for a while, the file i tryed now has format and codek:
Motion JPEG OpenDML, Unsigned Integer (Whatever that means)
Todays files are from a Cannon camera but I have had similar problems in other files i.e. original iMovie files...
Previous attempts to fix this problem has been:
    - Reinstalling Quicktime.
    - Creating a new user on this mac.
    - Reinstalling the system (keeping my user info)
    None of these helped.
The error message I get includes this text "KERNINVALIDADDRESS (0x0001) at 0xc0000000 quicktime"
    Greatful for any advise!

  • Share to video camera:  audio, but no video

I'm trying to backup my iDVD movie to a videotape like I've done a number of times before. But when I try to "share" the move to the video camera, I get audio coming through but no video. The cable appears to be fine...I can see video from the camera within iDVD when I try to download it from the camera, but there's no video when I try the share option.
Any thoughts on what's up here?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the replies.
I mis-wrote in my original post...I'm trying to share back to the video camera in iMovie, not iDVD. Apologize for that.
I've checked that box in preferences as recommended (don't think it was checked before when I've shared this way successfully), but still only getting audio back to the camera, no video.
Any other thoughts? I have ordered a new firewire/DV cable, so I'll get a chance to see if that helps in a day or two.
    Thanks again.

  • Imovie 11 export to Canon HD video camera

I have created a a movie in imovie 11. I want to export the movie back to my camera so I can show it on my TV. It appears that the .mov file gets exported to the camera hard drive but when I try to find it on the camera it does not appear. Please help.

why dont you just hook your computer up to your TV? If you wanted to do it with your camera, you needed some cable connection, you should be able to do same with your computer. Find the inputs your TV has and the video output your computer has, and you should be able to run it that way, there are cables for about everything. You may beed to run the sound separately depending on how you run it out

  • Can I create m2ts file to put back to camera?

I have Sony HD SR11E and no problems manage m2ts files inside CS4.
I'd like to put edited stuff back into camera, very useful for trainings, presentations and so on, also portable HD source.
Some sources say AVCHD is MPEG-4, AME offers MPEG4 but this particular is definitely not AVCHD.
Is there any format CS4 can create which is readable by Sony Picture Motion Browser?

There are lot of people looking solutions for that.
    One response(http://www.sonyhdvinfo.com/showthread.php?t=10888) was:
The recently released Vegas Pro 8 does accomodate rendering back into .m2t & .m2ts formats. I just did a test video, exported it back into my HDR-SR1 and played it on my LCD TV via HDMI with the original AVCHD picture quality.-end quota
