Export pdf in discoverer viewer

Hi All
I'm using Disco Viewer 10g. I have a report which have 14 columns and i wanted to display only 11, which is fine i can goto the rows and columns option and set the columns to 11, but now when i export it to the .pdf i still see the 14 columns instead of 11 columns that i wanted, is there anyway where i can see only the 11 columns that i wanted?
Thanks

Hello
I don't think so. I think you may well have to duplicate your report and on the duplicated sheet remove the columns you don't need. You can then name it suitable for exporting.
The data will be cached so it should not add any overhead to the system with the second report being a subset of the first.
Hope this helps
Michael

  • Export option in discoverer viewer

    Hi All,
I am using oracle 9ias discoverer and i need to remove export option from discoverer viewer page.
I made changes in ui_config.xsl and also unchecked the export data option from preferences page, but it is not reflected in my workbook. when i click on the export data link, a new page is displayed with a combo to select export format and when i click on apply button it forwards to connection page.
Can anyone please tell me why it is happening like this and how to resolve it.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks and regards
    Mukesh Harjai

I assume you are following the directions in Chapter 10 - "Customizing Discoverer Viewer" of the Oracle9iAS Discoverer Configuration Guide.
You should be able to remove the Export link.
If you are still struggling with this please log an SR/TAR to get detailed help from Support.

  • Best practice export PDFs for Pad viewing?

    Have an emergency question here:
A client has asked us to find out what export settings our former graphic designer used when he took copies of the client's InDesign files and exported PDF files that were higher quality than those exported by the client's in-house designer. Our designer has since moved to another state.
So, I'm asking here for advice we can relay to the client. His large job is due tomorrow. Although we'll take the PDFs and output them for Web use, this is not the usual stripped-down to basics situation. The results will have to look good on an iPad first of all (also on on Web pages), which means the PDFs we start from need to be higher quality than those usually destined for Web use. The entire publication is photo-intensive with many people pictures where clean appearance is important. Of course the pages also contain text, so that has to be crisp as well.
As I said, we lost our InDesign guru, and the client's designer is being faced with a new challenge. The client is calling me and asking How soon? How soon?
    Help? Thanks in advance.

Steve: If these are bitmaps inside a PDF that's going to be viewed on the iPad, you cannot rely on its "native resolution". Think about this: What if the original page size of this PDF is 5.5" x 8"? What if it is 20" x 32"? Which one will show the images "at their native resolution"?

  • IDcs3 export PDF issues when viewing in Preview

I appear to be having issues when exporting PDFs from IDcs3. I have drop shadows on text and objects. When i export as a PDF and view it in 'Preview', I get a shadow that extends the area of the object. Drop shadows are not defined, they just have a block blur effect.
The thing is when I transfer the file over to my MS machine, Acrobat displays the PDF perfectly. Is this a problem with Preview or is it something to do with the export PDF settings.
    Cheers

Preview is not capable of handling the advance features of exported PDFs.

  • Exporting PDF's - Initial View settings?

    Hey all!
Is there any way from InDesign CS4 to set the Initial View of the PDF when exporting your layout to a PDF? I would like to be able to set the display of the Navigation Tab, the Page layout, Magnification, and a few security settings. Is this even possible? Or do I just have to do this from Acrobat? This might be where developing a script for Acrobat might be in my future
    Much thanks!
    Eric

That must be done in Acrobat.

  • IDCS3 - PDF Export Preferences for Initial View?

Is there a way to set preferences for an exported PDF's initial view? I'd like my PDFs to open as single-page (not continuous), sized to Fit In Window, without changing them manually in Acrobat. Thanks for any ideas you can offer!

  • Discoverer viewer -- export to pdf doesn't retain page settings.

    Hi,
The report output in discoverer viewer is much different from that of plus. I am concerned abt the report headers. In discoverer plus, the headers are left, center and right aligned.
But in viewer, every thing is aligned center. How can I get the report o/p (same as that of plus) in viewer??
    Thanks

  • Discoverer Viewer printing PDF hangs

    Hi all,
I have installed Oracle BI Discoverer 10.1.2.48.18. It works fine exept that it is not closing discoverer processes. As number of processes raises the amount of free memory lowers. When about 10% free memory on the server the Discoverer Viewer stops creating PDF printouts.
I open Disco session, open sheet it displays OK. I can export to csv, xls and other formats except PDF. I also can not print PDF. If I click on Page for Print I can set PDF printing options. Then click on Preview or Print and got the Printing PDF - Wait screen. It lasts and lasts...
Tried opmnctl restartproc ias-component=Discoverer, Discoverer processes disappears, still can not print PDF.
After coplete restart AS (opmnctl stopall, startall) the function recovers.
Seems to be tied with memory usage.
I can restart the AS say 1 a week, but rather use other way to keep the Discoverer printing.
    Any suggestions, please.

    Hi Jiri
Your CPU and memory looks ok for the Discoverer usage you have described. I'd watch BPEL though and make sure that isn't grabbing too much resource. If anything, memory would be the one to increase. As I mentioned in a previous posting, a 4:1 ratio for smaller boxes is recommended. Your ration is 2:1, although for only 5 users you should be fine.
I'm assuming you are using Discoverer in stand-alone mode? If not, and you have the infrastructure database on the same machine you are definitely underpowered.
Regarding the memory, the server is supposed to clear the sessions eventually. One way that you can definitely help is to tell your users NOT to close the browser or click the little X at the top right-hand corner of the screen. This may well close the session on the client end but the server is still holding the session for them.
Here is what I always do:
    1. When changing from workbook to workbook I always click File | Close to get rid of the current workbook completely
    2. When exiting Discoverer I always use File | Exit, after using File | Close.
I seem to get far fewer issues this way. It's therefore a training issue and is something that you can do right now. Hopefully this issue will be cleared in the future.
    Best wishes

  • Exporting file to pdf and screen view file dark, print file ok

I am using Mac Pages as a document editor and basic design tool. Exported pdf files look great on screen on first view, and when opened in Mac preview or even when viewed on the PC as a preview of the file. As soon as the file is opened with Adobe Reader on both pc and mac, I have an issue with the text blocks being changed to dark and unreadable. The file prints fine, but screen view is not readable. I am using the files as a linked file to be viewed on screen and need the .pdf file to be readable on screen with Adobe Reader as designed, without color and text changes.

I am looking at the original file and I see that one of the blocks is a white background text block with black text and the other is a dark background with white text. There is a 3rd text block that is a purple color with white text and the 3rd is fine, the other white and dark background and text turn dark and unreadable. Preview still shows the file OK, but not with Reader.

  • Initial View set with epilogue.ps when exporting pdf from Indesign

Hi all. After years of Quarking, Freehanding, Pagemakering and my favourite, Indesigning, i finally got down to investigating a one step solution to setting the initial view in pdfs.
When distributing pdf 'layouts' and 'proofs' to clients i always set the pdf's initial view to fit page before emailing. It is simply the pro thing to do, and allows for a client to view the 'big picture' without having to first see a close-up of the top of a layout or design.
In the same breath i would set a business card layout to open at 125% or 150% so they get a feel for the actual size of finished product.
Well all these years of pdf proofing i have been hitting the old ⌘-D in Acrobat and manually setting initial view to fit page. Then ⌘-S and "bobs your uncle".
    Ready to email.
Huge deadlines aside, this morning i woke up early, and decided to have a good look online as to what one can do to automate this small, but oh so repetitive task. Well reading about the prologue.ps and epilogue.ps, got me really excited, especially when i implemented a little postscript tweak to the epilogue.ps, and distiller saw it through beautifully.
Alas my elation was short lived as it seems Indesign uses it's own 'distiller' so to speak and does not see the epilogue.ps.
And i am definitely not going to start printing ps files to a 'watched folder'. I spent years distilling manually, and since Indesign and it's superb built in pdf-ing, i have never looked back.
So looks like we are all gonna have to continue ⌘-D ing, till adobe picks this up and changes the build to accomodate.
Just wanted to put this out there, and see perhaps if anybody has another take on this one. Am i missing something. If i am please let us all know.
    Many thanks,
    Rupert Pluck

If you upgrade to InDesign CS5, there are two ways to export a PDF file: (1) For Print. This this does not include the option to set Initial View (2) For Interactive. For Interactive PDF's you can set the Initial View in InDesign.

  • Discoverer Viewer 10.1.2.55.26 PDF Printing Issue

Hope someone can help with this as i am at a bit of a dead end as i have trawled google looking for the same issue but no one seems to report this.
Using Discoverer Viewer i generate my report and then click the Printable Page link, then click the Printable PDF button, the PDF appears to get generated but when i click on the PDF doc then Adobe reader displays the message "The File is damaged and could not be repaired. Loca\EWHg7{w#h5d" When i go onto the app server and browse to the "$ORACLE_HOME\j2ee\OC4J_BI_Forms\applications\discoverer\discoverer\WEB-INF\export_output" i can see the generated PDF file but it shows as a 4kb file and if i try to open it i get the same message about it being damaged.
I have another machine that does produce the file correctly, but it is the only machine that does so. It is still a win 7 machine using IE9 the only difference being that i have logged onto the machine as a different user. I though this may somehow be a user issue ? but why would my domain authentication account have any impact on the PDF process in disco viewer? not using single sign on, i am logging into discoverer viewer as the same user each time.
Any help or ideas would be greately appreciated as this is very frustraiting.
    Thanks in advance
    Eddie

    Michael,
Our server guy confirms that Version 6 Update 24 is what we have on the servers. He has been trying to solve this issue for two months with no real success. I just logged into Discoverer and did not see the errors. It's not every time a user logs in, but it's often enough to be quite a bit of trouble.
Another issue that I see before me (literally on my screen) is when the dialogue box is up to open an existing workbook and the little blue text boxes, sometimes called "hints", pops up with the name of the workbook and it's owner, if the mouse pointer is not moved right away then that little blue box stays on the screen in that spot and does not move or erase. It will stay there until you exit Discoverer and exit from all Internet Explorer windows. When I minimize all windows, the blue text box is still in that spot on the screen now on my windows background.
This blue box error has bugged some of my users but at least a user can move the screen around it. The other error is more serious because it keeps a user from getting their reports.
    Thanks for your help,
    Mike

  • After purchasing the Export PDF Online software when I attempt to perform a "File/Save As" when viewing a document on the web it locks up windows explorer.  I receive "FIle Save As - Not Responding"

After purchasing the Export PDF Online software when I attempt to perform a "File/Save As" when viewing a document on the web it locks up windows explorer.  I receive "FIle Save As - Not Responding"

I think you may be correct.  It is coincidental with my upgrade to Adobe Reader 11.0.10.
    I have installed IE 11 (11.0.9600.17690)
It may be an Adobe Reader problem in that the "tools/file save as" dialog is completely empty. No local directories are displayed for saving to.   When I try to Close(X) the "File Save As" box it pops up a message box on top that says "Adobe Reader is not Responding"  It locks up all of my IE windows, not just the one with the PDF doc.
I need to go go Task Manager and stop the IE task.  All my browser windows are then closed.
That is the only way to recover from the "Adobe Reader is Not Responding" message.

  • How to view the CIP4 metadata on the exported PDF?

    Hi All,
I've a sample plugin from the InDesign SDK (PDFVT). This plugin writes some CIP4 metadata in the exported PDF.
My question is how can we view these CIP4 metadata using Acrobat?
Is there some other tool/software to view these metadata information on the PDF?
    Thanks in Advance.

By 'CIP4 metadata' I assume you mean JDF, in which case it's usually just an attachment to the PDF. You can view/edit the contents of a JDF file via the Print Production > JDF Job Definitions dialog box. If the JDF is attached to a PDF already, just double-click it.
