Export PDF won't upload, says "unexpected problem" what gives?

I just purchased the Export PDF and the document I want to upload is 22MB, so size shouldn't be the issues. It comes up as "Failed to Export" -- There was an Unexpected Problem" Please help as this is really pissing me off! Thanks. mm

Thanks Sarabjit!
I have found that whether the export works or fails depends on which network I am connected to. The difference between the tested networks have been the firewall rules. Typically company networks vs broadband modems over GPRS/UMTS where the first one fails while the last one succeeds. I would suggest you 1) specify what ports are in use by Export PDF, 2) put this into the requirements for the service, 3) make available support articles with this information and 4) update the error-handling in the program to give the user a more helpful and understandable error message.
PS! Another suggestion: Why not change the program to use ports that is (in 99%) always open through firewalls?

Torfinn

Adobe InDesign CS5 needs plugs ins, but how?   Adobe InDesign CS6 won't open says OS problem.  Adobe upgrade site crashes on me.

You might ask in InDesign to learn how to install plugins
    >says OS problem
What IS your operating system, and which exact version?
Is the link below where you are starting for upgrades?
All Adobe updates start here and select product, read to see if you need to install updates in number order, or if the updates are cumulative for the individual product http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

  • Export PDF says "Unexpected Problem"

    Hey Adobe,
I've tried to export several pdf files to convert them to word and have recieved the unexpected problem prompt for nearly every one of them. Most of the files are around 20MB and are scanned pages. I have an account, and have paid for the one year subscription. Is there anything you guys can do for me?
    Thank you,
    Liam

    Hi!
Please send us a copy of the file here with a brief description so we can take a look at it. Thanks! Sorry for the problems.

  • Failure to fully export pdf from InDesign CS2 (application unexpectedly quits)

I found a TechNote detailing such an issue when you save or export a PDF after the Adobe application has been left idle for several days. However, when I tried both suggested solutions, I was unable to fix the problem. Some say it may be that I have a corrupt file, but the file saves normally and shows no signs of error.
When I try to export a file as a PDF file from InDesign CS2, I don't get an error message when I save the file. I only receive an error message when I try to open the resulting PDF file which has not been fully processed.
The error message I see is as follows:
    * Exporting a PDF file from InDesign CS2: The file appears to save without error, but when I open the file with Acrobat I see the error "Acrobat could not open '[file name]' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then print the document to Adobe PDF."
Thus, I tried solution 1: upgrading my Mac to Mac OS X v10.5. That didn't work.
Then I tried solution 2: save the file, and then restart the application. That also did not work.
The TechNote goes into further detail, explaining:
"When you save or export PDF files from Photoshop CS2, Acrobat 7, Illustrator CS2, or InDesign CS2, the application must reference the TemporaryItems file located in /tmp/501. Prior to Mac OS X.v10.4, Mac OS X regularly deleted files in the /tmp folder that had not been used or modified within a certain period (approximately two or three days). If an Adobe application is running but unused for several days, Mac OS X prior to version v10.4, would delete the TemporaryItems file. When you save or export a file as PDF, the Adobe application attempts to reference the no-longer existing TemporaryItems file which results in errors or faulty PDF creation.
When you restarting the Adobe application and then save or export a PDF, the application rebuilds the TemporaryItems file."
Does anyone have any other suggestions for a solution to my query?

Similar to you, I've just posted the following in the InDesign section:
Problems writing pdf from InDesign CS2
Hello everyone, I've just gone and bought myself a new 2.4ghz iMac and done all of the updates for Tiger so I'm now running 10.4.11. InDesign CS2 is version 4.0.5.
I have a simple A4 document with 3 placed images which is an updated version of many done previously. I've never had any trouble writing pdf's from them before until tonight on my new Mac. It seems to get about half way through and InDesign quits.
If I print to a pdf file then it's okay, but a bit long winded when you get used to exporting from InDesign.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Looking for job PDF resumes vs html or doc resumes, what gives?

    Hi,
I've been looking for jobs and most of the sites that want my resume, monster, creative group, etc, all want it in doc or html format? what gives??? I designed this great looking resume in InDesign that converts well to PDF with nice fonts and I can't even use it !!!! Now I have to resort to times and other fonts using word to make sure that my resuem at least looks somewhere close to what it should be. What happened? I thought PDF was supposed to be used by all? why does everyone want this stuff in word?
Please shed some light on this for me,
    Thanks,
    Stan

    stan,
    >In reference to post 3, is that a bad thing? Should I be wary of employers trying to 'get my guard down'???
Yes. If I were interviewing, I would try to get you to relax and feel at home -- and then see how you, as a potential employee, handle that. I want to see if the person has a tendency towards office behavior that could be inappropriate or that does not fit in with my office environment. In today's market, I'd also be scouring Facebook and other social networking sites for info on candidates I'm considering.
And for the interview, generally dress and act appropriately for going out on a sales call for the potential employer's clients -- if hired, you may be expected to do that.
As for portfolio presentation, personally, I'd rather the portfolio binder be like the frame around a picture, not an in-your-face statement. Do you want interviewers to remember the binder or its content? But other folks running with more arty clients may have a different spin on this than I. And always stick a few extra résumés in the portfolio; the designed ones are fine there.
I once had a portfolio sent to me for review that was held together with more elaborate folds and strings than an origami dog walker. I had several additional portfolios still lined up with little time to review them. All I wanted to do is rip the damn thing open. And I can't remember anything about the work inside.
And network. Most jobs are through networking with friends, family, neighbors, acquaintances and sites like LinkedIn, etc.

  • It's been power cycling (turns off while in use) with increasing frequency, and now won't even turn on. What gives?

My phone has been turning off while in use, and would, in the past, recover if I turned it off and on.
Now it won't do anything, and I know that the battery is not dead. What gives?

    Hello Hoges,
About your question of connecting the Elitepad directly to another PC via USB.
Since the tablet is considered a full windows PC, you cannot connect it directly to another PC via USB.
Androids and Apple iphones, etc etc. are different than a windows PC. Even if you used an OTG usb cable.
Windows PC's could be connected via a crossover cable but it is very particular and requires an ethernet port on both machines.
You can connect them via a Network though, like connecting via a Home Group through a wireless connection.
Better still, you can backup your files on a cloud service like Dropbox, Onedrive or Google and then download them to the other machine. If both machines are using Windows 8.1, you can use HP Connect to backup and transfer files.
If you have a usb to micro usb adapter, you can use a pen drive to tranfer files with.
I do not know anything about the magazine articles you are downloading, but if done so via an app in the Windows store, couldnt those be redownloaded anyway without transfering?
IF the tablet is still under warranty and the charging port is loose, you can contact HP Support to see what your options are.
    Hope it helps.

  • Everytime I try to export pdf to word it say uploading and never finishes

What do I do to fix this?

Have you installed the Photoshop updates?
And are you trying to open from the Open dialog, or double clicking in the Finder?
Did you install any third party plugins?  If so, have you tried disabling them?

  • I downloaded Adobe Reader 11 and now the PDFs show as a black screen.  What gives?

After downloading and installing Adobe Reader 11, when I try to read a pdf on screen, all I see is a black screen.  Very frustrating.  Can anyone help me out?  thanks.

Turns out there was a conflict between an older PDF plug-in installed by Adobe InDesign CS3 and the newer one installed by Adobe Reader.  Removing the older one from the Library fixed the problem.

  • My plus sign won't open a new tab, what gives?

Cannot open a new tab, either from the plus sign or file menu. Have I disabled some feature unknowingly?

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:

  • Made two photo books in iPhoto and go to buy books and software locks up and won't take my order. What gives? Need to order for Christmas...

Does anyone else have this problem? Volume problems maybe. On the line with Apple folks and three persons later Lillian told me to try again later. Not much support. I would really like to order these photobooks today for Christmas!

Unless you opened the Library with a later version, then this is sometimes a symptom of database corruption.
And one cause of library corruption is operating without adequate free disk space
You must have a minimum of 10GB of free disk space to safely operate your Mac. Since you are having notices of inadequate space you almost certainly have much less than that - and the problem is exactly that - nothing to do with any program including iPhoto or IPLM
You must free up space now before you can do anything to recover your photos - adding an external drive is the quickest and easiest

  • Hard drive says 103 gigs and itunes (and ipod) says 55 gigs. what gives?

we thought our hard drive (internal 250, new imac) was more full than it should be. itunes says i've got 55 gigs, and it all fits on my ipod. the hard drive says i've got 103 gigs when i click on music and get the info on it. why is it doubled?
    david

When you 'Get Info' or 'Show Song File' (command-R), iTunes will only show the file it is linked to. It will not show the possible duplicate.
It all depends on where you had put your music files before adding it to the Library.
The default location of your music is ~/Users/YourUsername/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music.
If you put the files in the 'iTunes Music' folder and then add it to the Library, there are no copies made, even if you had ticked 'Copy.......'
iTunes obviously 'thinks': "Alright, they're already there, don't have to make copies"
If you put the files at another location and then add them to the library, copies are made.
So, if you have the checkbox 'Copy....' ticked, you could safely delete the music at any other location than the 'iTunes Music' folder.
But beware! If you had that (Copy....) option not ticked at any other time, there could be some music outside the 'iTunes Music' folder.
The best thing to do is to 'Consolidate Library...' (Advanced menu in the menubar). This will copy any music file, that at this moment is located outside the 'iTunes Music' folder, to the 'iTunes Music' folder.
After iTunes has finished 'Consolidating', you can delete the music from other locations.
    Hope this helps.

  • Captivate 4 - Issue viewing exported PDF in published file on LMS

I'm working in Captivate 4 and have included a link to a PDF document on a particular screen. It works beautifully when I view the published file until I move the files into the LMS - at that point, the PDF won't launch.
Here's what I've done and hopefully someone can tell me what I need to do differently?? I created a click box on a screen and have set the On Success field to "Open URL or file". I browsed to find the location of my PDF and clicked the drop down arrow to select "New" and "Continue playing project" (so the learner can return to the original course when they're done reading the PDF). When I publish the file to Flash, I select the "Export PDF" option and it does it's magic. When I preview the published version, everything works beautifully, the course runs, the PDF launches and life is good. Then, I set up the course on our LMS and copy over the published files (including the source PDF). The course plays as expected until the learner clicks to view the PDF - at that point, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? Does this have anything to do with Adobe Reader 9 (which many of our learners wouldn't have on their desktops)? Do I need to convert my PDF to HTM? Help... please!

    Hello,
If I do understand your question all right (sorry, am not a native English speaker), I do believe you are mixing up two things. If you want indeed to publish to PDF (and not to SWF or EXE), you'll get a multimedia PDF (in which a SWF can play) but in that case the user really do need the Adobe Reader 9, previous versions do not support multimedia PDF.
What seems a bit contradictory is that you start with mentioning an issue with a PDF that should be called from a CP-slide. The problem there could be that you were linking to an absolute path on your PC when browsing, can you check that? If you introduce simply the name of the PDF and you make sure that the PDF and the CP-published files (normally HTML, JS and SWF) are uploaded in the same folder, the CP will find the PDF. I think you now have a 'broken link' because of an absolute path reference for the PDF.
