Lightroom doesn't really differentiate between a hard drive and a flash drive. So simply use the "Choose" button in the "Export Location" box and select the flash drive which should appear in the list of drives under "Computer" in the resulting browser dialog box.....exactly as you would if you were selecting a different hard drive.

  • Export photos to San Disk

I am trying to export pictures from my iphoto library to a san disk so that I can print them out...I have basically tried to "export" photos to my desktop and then just transfer them to the San Disk. When I put the SD into my camera it says that there are no valid images. Does anyone know how to get around this? Do they need to be in a specific format or placed in a specific spot? Also, if that cannot work, is there a cord that i could connect from the small sony printer to my computer...the printer has a USB port and a smaller port approx 1cm (or a little less) in diameter with 6 sides--looks like the outline of a house with top cut off. Thanks in advance.

    Lauren
I just did this very thing yesterday - I now give SD cards out as gifts to family members (is that weird?).
First I exported the photos to another location on my hard drive, to get them outside iPhoto. I don't export directly to the SD card, so that I know iPhoto isn't causing a conflict there.
Then, as Larry said, I reformatted the card in my camera and took one test photo. The card's file structure was then DCIM > Canon### > photo.jpg.
Copying my folder of photos (as a unit) onto the card failed. Instead, I had to select all of the files, then move them into that Canon### folder which contained the test pic. That worked, and I could see the files being written into the folder on the SD card.
Keep in mind that the Mac uses invisible files to generate the thumbnail images that you see in the Finder, and when you write the files to the SD card those invisible files will go there too. The result may be that your camera recognizes the jpegs but not the invisible files, and you may see that every other file is "unrecognizable" by the camera. You can ignore those files, since your photos are on the card. Or you can try using an application that strips the files from the card so that they aren't in your way. (I got my hubby to remove them directly from the card using Terminal, and I still have no real understanding of how he does that. I don't mess around in Terminal myself.)
    Regards.

  • Exporting photos from album to disk as jpeg files

I am using PSE 10 on a Mac and I would like to export photos from an album as jpeg files to the hard disk.  I would like to rename the files so that the first image in the album will have a the album name and index 1,  the second image will have the same name and index 2 etc.   Is it possible to do this? If so how?
    Hans Brodin

Choose your album in Organizer and press Cmd+A (select all) then Cmd+I to open them all in Full Edit which will place them all in the project bin.
    Then use the menu:
    File >> Process Multiple Files
Choose opend files for the source (from top dropdown menu).
Use the rename function replacing document name with index or whatever name you want.

  • How do I export photo's from one user acct. to another user acct

Trying to export photo's from one user acct. to another user acct. on same computer into second users Iphoto app.

File -> Export to the destop. Drag to Users/Shared Folder and then import from other account.
    Or use iPhoto Sharing:
For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
(You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.

  • Exported photos too dark

When I export my files for print they are dark and dull and don't look anything like the screen. I have the quality set to 100 and the ppi to 300, exporting as a jpeg.  I took my disk to a professional printer and he stated he also found this problem with Lightroom and didn't find a resolution (I'm a PC).  Has anyone had this problem or know what I could try?

    Jim, first thank you!!!
The display profile is set for sRGB.  However, if this is not the best way to export photos from LR, what do you recommend?
I have done a multitude of comparisons from different sites from the internet regarding monitors calibrations with blacks, whites and gray scales and everything looks great (can see the differences in the whites, blacks and grays,etc)...but I will take my laptop into my office tomorrow and see if someone can help me with this.
Thank you again for your help!

  • Cropping and exporting photos

Just got a Kindle Fire HD and am wanting to export photos from my Photoshop Elements catalog onto it. (N.b. looks like I need a 2 stage process to export to local disk and then copy to KF since while KF shows up as a device in windows explorer it isn't recognized in the browse directories in the export menu).
All my photos are captured in 4:3 aspect ratio by my camera .... though I always use the 3x2 framing guide on its EVF so image I want should always be in middle. KF screen is 16:10 aspect ratio so simply exporting photos leaves black bars on either side of photos as it scales photo to fit all on screen - doesn't seem to be the "crop to fit" on the KF viewer.
Is their any automated way to get photoshop to export selected pictures to new files and crop to a specified aspect ratio at the same time?

Being able to 'crop' the sides of an image but not the top and bottom would really be a change in aspect ratio rather than a crop.
Look here [Working with Images|http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/#chapter=23%26sect ion=10%26hash=apple_ref:doc:uid:Aperture-UserManual-91292BKL-1017399] for all actions you can perform on an image on a book page.
Of course you could modify the image before adding it to the book also.

  • IPhoto 8.1.2 exports photos but not movies

Running iPhoto 8.1.2 and it will not export my iphone movies (or any movies for that matter).  I export photos just fine.  When I click File->Export nothing happens.
I restarted my computer, tried it again, and the thinking wheel spun for about thirty seconds and nothing happened.  Now nothing happens at all when I try and export a movie (no dialogue box, etc.)
I tried updating software.  I tried repairing disk permissions.  No luck.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks for the help.

Select one of the affected videos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. Go Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder Window should open with the file selected.
    Does it?

  • Trying to export photos to usb and get a message that says "there is not enough space to complete that operation". What does that mean?

I'm trying to export photos to usb and keep getting this message, "There is not enough disk space to complete that operation".  The usb is almost completely empty.  Is the problem with the library?

No - it is with the FAT format on the USB that has a very limited number of root tems - select the phtoos in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder (see the user tip on exporting for the options available) then using the finder drag that folder to the mounted, unlocked USG drive

  • Exporting photos from lotsa Events

    Hi there,
Y'all are going to laugh at me, because I'm sure there's some secret sauce that I'm missing by doing this the long way.
I'm exporting photos from lots of Events. I'd like each Event to be exported to its own folder (with its name is fine); but whenever I highlight a bunch of Events and do Export, they all go into the same folder.
So I've been exporting Events one at a time. Blech. I have dozens of them.
    Am I missing something?
    Susan

*_[iphoto To Disk|http://www.iphototodisk.Com/index.html]_* should help y'all.
Using iPhoto To Disk you can automatically organize your export by "event" or by "year and event" in a hierarchical folder structure.

  • Differenence in Color When Exporting Photos

I have taken a series of photos using Canon 5D Mark II using Raw.   After processing in LR 4 I want to send them to a family member on disk using sRGB so that they can print them.  I notice that after the export the exported photos, as displayed on the screen have a warmer, reddish cast which is quite different from the screen display of the RAW photos in LR 4.
Can anyone help me sort this out.

that is what most think... beside that they are good drivers.
i think you may have a bad monitor profile.
there are many threads about problems caused by bad monitor profiles it in this forum.

have you tried a good image viewer thast supports colormanagement?
im not sure (i dont use it) but i think the win7 viewer is not colormanaged.
another possible source for issues... do you have a wide gamut monitor by any chance?

  • LR 3.6: Problem with importing photos (system disk filled up).

Hi, I'm new here and in start I would like to apologize for my English. It's not very good.
I have a problem with the program Lightroom 3.6 (in 3.5 was the same)
When I import photos from disk into Lightroom, my system drive is filling up drastically.
Windows & applications (LR too) are in C (60GB OCZ SSD drive)
Catalouge is on drive D - different drive (HDD)
RAW cache is located on frive G - different drive (HDD)
When I view the photos to select the files I want to import my C drive is filled up by file:
    C:\Users\Gimmickz\AppData\Local\Temp\cr_sdk_023324  10.tmp
When I restart lightroom, the space is cleared.
I saw that many people had a similar problem (they concerned the same file: cr_sdk_XXXXXXXX.tmp) , but occurred when exporting resized images.
I've a problem with the choice of images to then work on them. Usually I select 20-30, added to the catalog and then resets Lightroom to select the next images.
This is very annoying when I have to select hundreds of images.
If a solution to this problem was already on the forum, please do not delete my topic (cost me a lot of effort to describe my problem in English) - Just give a link to the solution, or write it again - plain English as possible. alternatively, please contact: [email protected]
It is very important to me - I can not fully work on this software - please help.
    Regards,
    Gimmickz.

    Hi Hal!
Thank you so, so much for your reply!
    Thats make sense.
Today I'm away from home, but tomorrow I'll check it, but I think this will solve my problem and I will be able to work comfortably.
However, such large temp files should not be normal... you confirm? (temp file after viewed a few (20-50) photos can be more than 10 GB.)
Best regards and again - thank you Hal!

  • Problem burning photos to disk

iPhoto won't burn photos to disk. says disk i erased is full. do i need to format disk, or what?

What do you wnat to do? the share ==> burn command in iPhoto creates a mini iPhoto library - for just the photos for use other than with iPhoto select the photo(s) and export (file menu ==> export) to a desktop folder - right click on the folder and burn to disk
As to erasing the disk - try a new, fresh one - for specific question on how your optical drive works ask in the hardware forum for it or for your computer if it is built in

  • Since installing Maverick, speed has slowed down considerably. Not able to export photos form email to iphoto. What is going on?

Since installing Maverick, speed has slowed down considerably. Not able to export photos form email to iphoto. What is going on?

    When did you install?
Spotlight will need to re-index the entire system so that can cause slow performance if you updated recently. It can take many hours on a large disk with a lot of data. Click the Spotlight menu, it should say if it is still indexing.
There is no point trying to fix anything whilst this is ongoing, because it may just speed up when complete.
Are you able to drag photos from email to the Desktop or to iPhoto's icon? How about the 'File menu > Save attachments' option?
Please clarify what you have tried, otherwise we may waste time on the wrong thing.
If the system is generally unstable there are other things to try too, such as safe boot.

That will isolate all third party software, if the Mac is able to do the things that didn't work it suggests that you have software that is loading at startup or login. The easiest way for us to see these is if you download EtreCheck & generate a report.
Post the report here & we can try pointing to items that you can either update or remove.

  • How can I export photos from my iPad or iPod to my main computer or hard drive. My old computer died and I want to get my photos onto my new computer. Thanks in advance.

HOw can I export photos from my iPad or iPod to my main computer? My old computer died with my photos on it but I want to move my photo library from my iPad or iPod to the computer I just bought. Thanks for any help you can give.

Sorry but your iPhoto library is not on an iPad or iPod - you may have photos there (most likely low resolution copies) but not an iPhoto library - dying computers (along with software and human errors) are why you always must have a backup - now is the time to load it
