Export photos to USB

Having trouble loading Aperture photos to either SD Card or USB stick to get printed at a lab
Have tried Export & Copy without success

What is the problem exactly? Don't you see your USB stick in the Finder or can you not write to it? Any error messages?
You may not see the USB because by default Linon does not show mounted drives in the Finder Sidebar and on the Desktop, turn this on in the Finder Preferences:
After these settings your USB stick should be visible in the File chooser in the "File -> Export" dialogue in Aperture. If not, export to your harddrive and drag the exported images onto the icon of your usb stick.
If the problem is, that your USB stick is not writable, select its icon on the Desktop and inspect the "Sharing &permissions" with "File -> Get Info".
Also check the formatting of the stick with "Disk Utility". Sometimes it helps to reformat the stick to MacOS extended, if it is formatted MS-DOS (FAT) (with Disk Utility -> erase).

I'm trying to export photos to usb and keep getting this message, "There is not enough disk space to complete that operation".  The usb is almost completely empty.  Is the problem with the library?

No - it is with the FAT format on the USB that has a very limited number of root tems - select the phtoos in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder (see the user tip on exporting for the options available) then using the finder drag that folder to the mounted, unlocked USG drive

You can transfer photos outside of iTunes. I do it all the time. THat said, i have a 50/50 success rate with them. I'd avoid sandisk and kingston, their bundled software triggers the 'too much power' warning.
I've had mixed luck with lexar, some work, some don't.
I did have good luck with an older 4 gig geek squad one.
Look for drives without software on them, without bright LED lights and I haven't gotten any larger than 4 gig to work, but that may just be me.
For a less troublesome way? h onestly, I use a SD card that I've formatted with the DCIM folder. I've never had one of them trigger the 'too much power' warning. Just make sure they're not SDXC. those don't work.

  • EXPORT PHOTOS IN IPHOTO TO A USB DEVICE

I can't seem to export photos from IPhoto to a USB device that holds a 4GB chip.  I keep getting a message "unable to create/volumes".  I click on the album I created, then click on export, then click on the device, but no luck????  Help, thanks!

If you are using a CF card, look closely at it.  There should be a little switch on the side.  Make sure it is not in the "lock" position.  For a large example, check this out:
    http://www.sandisk.com/microsites/ExtremeProSDHC/index.html
Otherwise there may be some damage to the file system. Once all the images are safely stored on the computer (and your backup!) try to reformat the card in the camera and try again.

  • How can you export photos using the USB connector?

I am on vacation and trying to export photos from the iPad to a flash drive using the connector I bought from Apple.  It doesn't seem to allow this function.  Do I need an app to help with this?  Thanks.

    Hi there,
The iPad Camera Connection Kit can only import images from cameras or SD cards, onto your iPad. It cannot operate the other way.
It does not support most flash drives anyway.
I urge you to submit feedback to Apple on this matter:

  • I cannot export photos in iPhoto 09 version 8.1.2

I am unable to export photos.  A warning pops up saying it is "unable to create/storeandgo/etc etc.
I have tried copy and pasting to the usb drive but it will not let me do this either

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    Post back with the result.

  • HT201302 When I travel with my SLR I like to transfer all photos to the iPad so that they are more easily edited and viewed by others, using the camera kit.  Occasionally I would like to export photos - I have not found a way to do this.  Can you help?

I occasionally have the need to export photos from the iPad to an SD card (photos that were imported using the camera kit). This is useful for e.g. to print photos while travelling.  So far I have not found this functionality anywhere, including in any apps available on iTunes.  Can anyone help?

The camera connection kit can only be used to import photo/video files from a camera, SD card or USB flash drive. You can't import other types of files. You can't export any type of files using the camera connection kit.

  • Export photos to San Disk

I am trying to export pictures from my iphoto library to a san disk so that I can print them out...I have basically tried to "export" photos to my desktop and then just transfer them to the San Disk. When I put the SD into my camera it says that there are no valid images. Does anyone know how to get around this? Do they need to be in a specific format or placed in a specific spot? Also, if that cannot work, is there a cord that i could connect from the small sony printer to my computer...the printer has a USB port and a smaller port approx 1cm (or a little less) in diameter with 6 sides--looks like the outline of a house with top cut off. Thanks in advance.

    Lauren
I just did this very thing yesterday - I now give SD cards out as gifts to family members (is that weird?).
First I exported the photos to another location on my hard drive, to get them outside iPhoto. I don't export directly to the SD card, so that I know iPhoto isn't causing a conflict there.
Then, as Larry said, I reformatted the card in my camera and took one test photo. The card's file structure was then DCIM > Canon### > photo.jpg.
Copying my folder of photos (as a unit) onto the card failed. Instead, I had to select all of the files, then move them into that Canon### folder which contained the test pic. That worked, and I could see the files being written into the folder on the SD card.
Keep in mind that the Mac uses invisible files to generate the thumbnail images that you see in the Finder, and when you write the files to the SD card those invisible files will go there too. The result may be that your camera recognizes the jpegs but not the invisible files, and you may see that every other file is "unrecognizable" by the camera. You can ignore those files, since your photos are on the card. Or you can try using an application that strips the files from the card so that they aren't in your way. (I got my hubby to remove them directly from the card using Terminal, and I still have no real understanding of how he does that. I don't mess around in Terminal myself.)
    Regards.

  • How to export photos to iPad

Can I export photos from my MacBook to iPad?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The quick answer is, yes, you can send copies of your photos from your Mac to an iPad.
I'm on OS X 10.6 on a MacBook, and iOS 4.3.4 on and iPad 2. If you're on OS X Lion and/or iOS 5, these instructions probably won't be accurate.
In iTunes with your iPad connected via the USB cable, select the connected iPad in the left column sidebar.
Then choose the Photos tab along the top. You should be able to select photos and/or events to transfer.
    Illustrated in this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16497227#16497227
Adding, deleting, and re-sync-ing photos once they are on the iPad is addressed by a number of threads in the iPad section of the forum.
This post addresses the issue concisely:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15235372#15235372
As I understand it, if you want to delete photos previously sync-ed to your iPad, but do not delete them on your computer, they will be restored the to your iPad the next time you sync.
I don't deal with this issue, because I add photos created externally onto the iPad directly from my camera with the camera connection kit (US$29), or email them to the iPad.

  • How can I export photos from my iPad or iPod to my main computer or hard drive. My old computer died and I want to get my photos onto my new computer. Thanks in advance.

HOw can I export photos from my iPad or iPod to my main computer? My old computer died with my photos on it but I want to move my photo library from my iPad or iPod to the computer I just bought. Thanks for any help you can give.

Sorry but your iPhoto library is not on an iPad or iPod - you may have photos there (most likely low resolution copies) but not an iPhoto library - dying computers (along with software and human errors) are why you always must have a backup - now is the time to load it

  • How do I export photo's from one user acct. to another user acct

Trying to export photo's from one user acct. to another user acct. on same computer into second users Iphoto app.

File -> Export to the destop. Drag to Users/Shared Folder and then import from other account.
    Or use iPhoto Sharing:
For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
(You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.
    Regards
