Export playlist and edit using excel or other editor
I have a lot of duplicates due to the same songs being downloaded through different albums (i.e. greatest hits, compilations).
I have used a playlist to display all songs and then I displayed the duplicates using the "duplicates" function. I would like to export the playlist to some other app where I can sort and filter (i.e name and then bit rate) so that I can edit the list to include the "keeper" tracks from the multiple duplicates. I would then like to import this playlist back into Itunes so that I can have a playlist called "keeper tracks".
Does anyone know how I Can do this? It seems that the playlist is in a UTF-8 type format and it is not showing as individual rows for each track when I try to use an editor.
Thank you
Theoretically you can use the Export command and read the XML into Excel. But it is far easier to copy and paste...
Display the playlist in iTunes, and make sure all the columns that you care about are present. (If any are missing, enable them by going to View > View Options.) Then Edit > Select All, and Edit > Copy.
Now switch over to Excel and Edit > Paste (or CTRL-V). Everything will show up and will be correctly columnized in Excel. Now you can go to town with sort, filter, etc.

I have the same songs showing up on 2 playlists on my Ipod. How do I remove the songs from one playlist and leave them on the other playlist?
Hi tmilbut,
Welcome to the Support Communities!
The information below may be able to answer your questions about how to delete items from a playlist on an iPod.
iPod Nano User Guide - Remove items from a playlist - page 23
http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1624/en_US/ipod_nano_user_guide.pdf
Remove items from a playlist:
1 On the Home screen, tap Music > Playlists, then tap the playlist you want to edit.
2 Flick down, then tap Edit.
3 Tap next to the item you want to delete, then tap Delete when it appears on the right.
4 When you finish, tap Done.
Delete a playlist:
1 On the Home screen, tap Music > Playlists.
2 Flick down, then tap Edit.
3 Tap next to the playlist you want to delete, then tap Delete when it appears next to the playlist.
If you tapped the wrong playlist, tap the one you want to remove.
4 Tap Delete, or tap Cancel if you change your mind.
5 When you finish, flick up, then tap Done (or swipe right to return to the Home screen if you cancel).
Cheers,

I constructed a calendar in iPhoto'09, but I can't buy it, as my country (Russia) is not on the list in the drop-down box of the countries. And I can't export it and save it in any other format so that I could print it off myself. Would upgrading to iPhoto'11 help in any way? I understand it might not be possible to buy a printed calendar, as this service might not be available for Russia, but would I be able to at least export it to a different format? Thanks.
You can export your calendar in to pdf and print it wherever you want)

I am running iTunes for Windows 10.2.2 on Windows 7 Home. I have my iTunes library on both this computer and another authorized machine running Windows 7 Professional. I have a large but not enormous library, as I'm one of those people who doesn't pirate, use torrents, borrow from a dozen friends, or whatever other shades of gray you might imagine. It's mostly iTunes purchases with my old CD collection imported. I have started using the following technique to sync my libraries between my two authorized computers, an ability which you can probably all agree should one day be added to iTunes -- that would be different from Home Sharing, because the music would be stored locally and thus available on the road. With the added benefit of the entire library being backed up on the other machine in real-time. Anyway, when I switch from my desktop to laptop and vice versa, I use the following technique:
Connect both machines to the home network. One machine is the "Active" machine, which has most recently been used for iTunes media, purchases, ratings, etc.
On the "Active" machine, File-->Library-->Export. Save the file as "Library.xml" on the shared drive of the other machine.
Right-click "Library.xml" where it's been saved, and open another file that has two lines in it: The root path of the iTunes library on one machine and the root path of the iTunes library on the other machine.
Do a find/replace all in Notepad to make the library XML file point to where the files will be saved on the "Inactive" machine.
Run Microsoft SyncToy to synchronize the files between both music libraries; the most recent files win. This avoids copying the entire multi-gigabyte library over the network.
Open iTunes on the "Inactive" machine.
Go to Music, Select All, Delete. Keep files.
Do the same for Movies, Music Videos.
Go down to Playlists, select the top one, hold down the delete button until they're all gone.
File-->Library-->Import Playlist. Choose the "Library.xml" file you saved.
First a status bar comes up that says, "Importing library." It has the continually-scrolling progress bar, not the one that starts on the left and steadily creeps right. Then after about 30 seconds, that clears out. Wait. Typically a few minutes. Eventually a status bar will pop up saying something like, "Evaluating gapless playback information," or something like that.
The "Inactive" computer is now the "Active" computer. I can now play my library, it has all my playlists and metadata from the other machine.
Delete all the duplicate playlists named "Music," "Genius," "Purchased," and "iTunes DJ."
Well, I just upgraded to iTunes 10.2.2 a few days ago and tried to do this again like I've done it dozens of times before. Now, iTunes just goes unresponsive after the library import. It got through the "Importing library" bar to the long wait and stopped. I can still multiprocess and use other programs, but iTunes is hovering back there not responding to clicks. Task Manager doesn't seem to think iTunes is using my CPU, and I don't see my hard drive rattling. Any thoughts on why iTunes might hang up when importing a large library?
... Also, please help lobby Apple to come up with a network sync tool built into iTunes for a user with multiple authorized computers. Something different than Home Sharing so I can pull my laptop off the network and still have the synced library with me. And all my metadata changes will sync. The technique I use seems a little kludgey, don't you think?iTunes isn't an editor. You need an app that's intended for editing audio files, like Adobe Audition (http://www.adobe.com/products/audition.html) or Audacity (free in the App Store).

You shouldn't have a problem, I am running 2008 and all my data from 2004 carried over. Office 2011 will also run on 10.7.

Exporting Metadata from bridge to excel or other like program.
Is there a way to export just the metadata, using Bridge, associated with an image file into excel, access, or some other like program?
I would like to perform some kind of batch processing, so as to make the process quick. But I would be open to any other work around scenario.
I am working with Windows XP Professional and Adobe CS2.
Any help would be appreciated!I've followed the instructions and I am having problems getting data to the folder I set up on my desktop.
I have tried selecting several images and then just one image to export the slected metadata to said folder. By right clicking the images and chosing the script you sent me and then followed your instructions for when your CSV Data Collector Window pops up.
For the Please Slect Folder option i browsed to the folder where I want the info to go to.
~/Desktop/Kens Files/KensTest
For the Please Enter CSV Filename, I copied the title of the image name "2005-agropyron002.jpg"
Then I chose the type of data that I want to import such as:
FileName
DocWidth
DocHigth...
I then go to that folder and there is no info. there.
Please, if you can, give me more detailed instruction.
Thanks,

Rename Model Name and ID using Excel
Hi everyone,
after deployed a tabular model in Analysis Services from an Excel file using "Restore from Power Pivot..."
I connected to the cube with Excel and I could notice that the name of the cube is "Model"
I would like to change it using Excel. I found only one solution using visual studio, then script the database and modify the text file manually.
I think it should be a better way.
Have you any ideas? Any comment will be highly appreciated.
Kind Regards,Paul, is this still an issue?
Thanks!

JTable: READ and EDIT uses - a good example?
Hello,
I am looking for a good (complete) example of how to use JTable in READ and EDIT mode. I want to add rows immediately in the JTable and i want to edit a cell also. It is for a use in a production environment.
It is easy to use it to display data but i think it is not really easy to use it in EDIT mode. For the moment, when i need to insert data in the grid, i do it with the help of a dialog box that contains the different fields to insert.
Thanks for the help
JMiI don't find it easy to use that's why i am looking for a good example - a real one with full read, edit, delete and save modes (+ sort capabilities). OK, it's certainly possible to use it but... it's a question of time. I don't want to spend several hours/days to find that it is not OK. That's all.

I am thinking of buying and I pad 2. Is it compatible with pcs? Is it a good option for a college computer? I have a Mac at home that i can use to print written reports off but is it possible to download a report to a pc and use excel or some other system like that? Or does Apple have app like excel.
Also do most professors accept Apple documents? Like pages and such.
Thanks for the Assist Ashton.iPads are absolutely compatible with Windows PCs. Through iTunes File Sharing you can transfer documents from supported apps to your computer. Most professors don't support iWork file formats, however iWork on the iPad can save in either iWork format or Microsoft Office format so you will be fine as long as you save it as an Office format.

Thank you Ron
connect the Macs with a firewire cable. start the G5 in Target Disk Mode. copy the entire iTunes folder from the G5 to the music folder on the new machine (overwriting the iTunes folder in place there).
fire up iTunes.
make sure you point iTunes to the correct media folder location via preferences > advanced

ThanksI can't check your script right now since I'm not on Mac. I recommend you to use FindChangeByList script for CS4 instead (it works with CS3): http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/2080627-12695/FindChangeByListCS4.zip together with Martin Fisher's: http://www.kasyan.ho.com.ua/downloads/RecordFindChange_CS3_Kas.zip
Use this script to record settings from Text and GREP tabs, then copy and paste them into FindChandgeList.txt file.
Or, optionally you can use this script: http://www.kasyan.ho.com.ua/find_change_by_queries.html.
