Export produces 1 second shifts

I am exporting from iMovie 6, .dv to Mpeg-4. When I do, I'm getting a little shift in the video about every second.
How do I fix this?

When you say "..a little shift in the video.." do you mean that the video jumps (up, down, left, right) or that it gets out-of-sync (out-of-step) with the audio?
Was the video + audio originally recorded on DV tape, or did you import it into iMovie from some other source, such as a stills camera?
Have you been using American (NTSC) video in a European (PAL) project, or vice versa?
Any other details..?

  • Export using quicktime conversion only exports 23 seconds of my project...

    Hi,
I am trying to output a promotional video to .wmv format using the quicktime conversion. It only exports 23 seconds of footage before stopping, which is no use at all.
    Whats wrong?
I have tried setting ins and outs around the video, and I have tried selecting all the content in the timeline, but nothing seems to help.
    Thanks.

Thank you, very much. The cost of the flip version needed is only $49 so that is not bad, but why would you actually need something extra when the conversion option is available in Final Cut? I would understand if the option did not exist at all and the flip 4 mac would make the option available.
Not on mine. I had to buy a third party product to do that.
AFAIK, the ability to be exporting to wmv is not included with FCS or Compressor or QT. If it appears in your options, you may have installed another app that includes the transcoders and codecs.
Microsoft and Apple do not cooperate in the format wars, neither will support the other and there's money involved. It's a shame becuase Flash is whacking both of them stupid and Silverlight is even kinda cool. QT's days are probably numbered.

  • FCE only exports 29 second of video

Newbie here! I am trying to export a video sequence that has no markers and FCE will only export 29 seconds of video. I am exporting Using Quicktime Conversion file format Window Media. Then only 29secons of video is on the file that is created. This happens on several different sequences. I have cleared all markers but that did not help. Is there a preference that I need to change? Have I changed something that I should not have?
    Thanks for your help.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
It sounds like you're using the trial version of the QuickTime plugin which will only convert 30 seconds of media. You'll need to buy the full version; I think it's $50.

  • 5 Minute video - But only exports :30 seconds...Help Please!

It's my first project on Final Cut Express HD. When I export it to a Quicktime movie, it exports the complete 5 minute video. When I export it using quicktime conversion to wmv. it only captures the first 30 seconds or so of the video.
Why is this happening? What can I do? Any suggestions?
    Thanks for your help.

    welcome,
sounds like you have the demo version of flip4mac, unless you pay for the complete version it will only allow you to export 30 seconds.

  • Export Produces 2-second MOV

I've made plenty of movies in the past half year, and haven't changed my export settings, but after completing a 13-minute video, today, my export took only 3 seconds and produced an all-black 2-second MOV file.
I can't seem to figure out what the problem might be. The file size is just 598KB, so obviously, it's not a full-sized movie. Has this happened to anyone else?
    Please help!

Wow. That was embarassing. But to be honest, I wouldn't have thought to look there. Thanks, so much, for the help! I really appreciate it. Everything's working like it used to, now. I'm not even sure how I accidentally set those short in/out points. Too bad full movies don't take two seconds to export like that.

  • Export QuickTime Movie shifts field order

In august I finished grading a project and made a QT Prores 422 master file for the client to have delivered on a hard drive.
The client has kept quiet until now about an issue - the field order seems to be wrong. I couldn't believe my ears when he told me that. The timeline is lower (even) while the QT file he had received is Upper (odd).
I selected 5 seconds of the timeline and exported using CMD+E, and it says "Setting: current settings". So I thought it would be lower field as the timeline - but no - it comes out as upper, every single time.
How does this happen? Do I really have to make a conversion through compressorr?!

The following settings are the same for the prepped timeline and the one that came back from Color
    *Sequence settings*
    720x576 PAL Anamorphic 16:9
    Field Dominance: Lower (even)
    Compressor: Apple ProRes 422
    *Item Properties*
    Frame Size: 720x576
    Anamorphic: Yes
    Compressor: Apple ProRes 422
    Field Dominance: Lower (even)
However, I think I nailed it. Gonna do some further testing to make sure though... In the Export to QuickTime Movie window, I found that I can select some other setting, using ProRes 422 PAL Anamorphic for instance. And as far as I know - PAL is always lower field, and it seemed to work for the first test I did.

  • 320x240 QT export produces black bars on right and left

Ok, this one is strange. So far, it only appears to affect 320x240 targets from sources that don't have square pixels. Starting with a 720x480 DV movie (even if I change the properties to display 640x480), I export directly to 320x240 and I get a movie with black bars down the right and left. I did not tell QT to letterbox or scale, although telling it to scale does no help.
The problem seems to be in the meta data. If I go to the movie's visual properties and change the move dimensions to 324x240 (with preserve aspect ratio unchecked), then the black bars disappear. When I change it back to 320x240, they are still gone and the movie plays fine. I save it and reopen it, and the black bars are back! The same thing happens exporting from Final Cut Pro using Quicktime conversion. This is definitely a bug.
The work around is to export to another 4:3 format with square pixels first and export that to 320x240.
On a related note, the same thing happens when I record a movie in Quicktime at 320x240. I get a recording with black bars down the sides.
This has never happened to me before. I'm a professional QT software developer and a content producer. I've been using Quicktime Pro for a decade, at least. I've been over all of the export settings, and I've deleted all of my Quicktime preference files.
Is there a way to report a bug to Apple?

Regarding: "there's a pretty good chance that your playback target isn't Quicktime Player"...
My assumption is that if your material is 320x240, it's probably that size because you're planning to either display it on a small-screen device, send it to a TV set, embed it in a presentation, or deliver it via the Web. In any of those cases, your final delivery target isn't QuickTime Player, but rather some other mode, such as the QuickTime web plug-in, iPod, AppleTV, or even some other option. In which case the strangeness with the player doesn't seem so strange.
As a workaround, you could layer your 320x240 movie with at 350x240 grey rectangle on the layer behind. That would fix it in QuickTime Player, but it would cause grey bars on either side if you embed into a web page or something like that.

  • Can I assign an easier keyboard shortcut to Export than ctrl+shift+alt+E ?

    Can I do this?

    Keith_Reeder wrote:
That keystroke is "Export with Previous" - Export is "only" Ctrl+Shift+E.
Yes you're right but it's not what I do, once I've set up the quality and the output folder I just want to work on a file, get it right and export it then move on to the next
Is there no way of altering or adding a different shortcut? The Ctrl+Shift+E still requires another step which is incongrous and for me requires two hands!

  • Quicktime Pro exporting to WMV -- only exports 30 seconds?

Have 7.6.6 PRO and am exporting to WMV. But I only get 30 seconds of video? Any ideas?

I am having a problem with this as well. In Quicktime Pro, when I try and export a 4:49 length .mov into a .wmv, it will only give me 4.30. Why would it cut me off? At first I thought maybe the machine hic-upped or something during the conversion but I have attempted it several times and no matter what I do, I can only get 4:30 in length.
I have Quick Time Pro and Flip4Mac WMV Studio Pro HD and have spent hours going through the FAQ’s and discussion forums on both sites and can’t find anything about a time constraint once you have purchased the “paid” versions......HELP

  • Will only export 30 seconds of 21 minute sequence?

    Hello,
I am trying to export a 21 minute sequence using Quicktime Conversion to a Windows Media File so I can upload it onto the clients .mac account. For some reason it will only export the first 30 seconds of the sequence? I have made sure everything has been rendered FULL and my audio has been mixed down. All is solid blue in the top of the timeline. There is a 16 frame dissolve where the conversion stops but it is also solid blue. I have repaired permissions and re-booted.
    Any advice will be appreciated.

Sounds like you've downloaded the demo version of Flip for Mac. Unless you pay for the program, it will only allow you to convert 30 seconds.

  • Export frame color shift

I'm trying to do a freeze frame in a sequence (ProRes source) and I've tried every available file format but all come back with a noticeable shift in colors, green is what I really notice, it's just lighter than the source.
A screen-shot of the frame I want from the Program Monitor pasted into Photoshop and saved out as a PNG (set with the Embed Color Profile : Display) yields a perfect result when added back to the timeline in Premiere.
Something wrong with the color space of Exported Frames in Premiere Pro?
    I'm using PP CC 2014.2 (8.2.0 (65) Build)

EDIT: this is a revision of the post above that I could not edit.
    Interesting.
Even when I tried PNG the color of the greens was visibly brighter.
Here is a side by side comparison of what I am talking about in case anyone would like to see it:  Some areas blurred out for privacy, but you can clearly see the greens on the left (Which match the original colors in the PP sequence when I imported that file) are not the same as the greens from the PP Frame Export.  The blues seem to be fine. I have not tested reds.
If anyone is willing- I wonder if you could try dropping this image into a comp and then do a PNG frame export (Shift-E) and compare the two on your system?  Might be helpful to know if there is a bug that we can reproduce.

  • Exporting odd color shifts in shadows of whites

When I export from a full sized image in argb to a websized graphic, or even 4x6's to srgb the shadow areas of anything white or light colored turns blue. What is going on?

These are very typical symptoms of a bad monitor profile. That doesn't mean that is the problem here, but you should probably check. How are you checking your exported jpegs? Note that only color managed programs will show you the correct color, even if they are sRGB jpegs. Also be aware that many programs do not correctly deal with multiple monitor setups, even if they are color managed. About the resizing. You only see the shift when you have resized the image in Lightroom's export? You don't see it when you export at the actual size? That's quite weird. Lightroom can cause resize artefacts but they do not shift the colors.

  • GarageBand 10 won't export 37 second ringtone?

Okay, trying to make a new ringtone for my iPhone.
I'm adhering to the less than 40 second rule, but for some reason it won't let me export it to iTunes.
When I auto adjust it makes the track ~27 seconds.  Any advice on how to fix or workaround? Seems like a bug.

Agreed. Seems like a bug. In the workaround I found, I discovered that the AIFF version was a few seconds longer in iTunes than in GB, and converting to AAC in iTunes added a few more seconds more. Seems like someone has some math wrong somewhere.
    Here's the workaround:
    1. In GB, export to iTunes as a song in AIFF format.
    2. Find the song in iTunes, right click and select convert to AAC.
    3. Right click on the AAC version, select show in Finder.
    4. Rename the extension on the file from .m4a to .m4r.
    5. In iTunes, find the AAC version and delete it, but keep the file.
    6. In Finder, double click on the .m4r version, iTunes will import it as a ringtone.
    7. Sync to iPhone and enjoy.
    8. You can delete the AIFF version, including the file from iTunes if you like.

  • How to export 4 second clips from GB as mp3?

I'm trying to export little 4 second clips from a voice narration in GB as mp3 files.
I tried saving the 4 second clips as loops... but they still seem connected to the rest of the audio track.
Do I have to start a new project for each new 4 second clip and then save that separately?
I'm a total GB newbie... so THANKS for any pointers in the right direction.
p.s.  I want each GB clip to retain the filtering I've added to the voice.
    Thanks...
