Export Quicktime for Protools

I exported a Quicktime (with no specific settings) for replacing dialog in ProTools. It worked great but when I reopend my Protools session the file wouldn't open. What settings do I need for exporting Quicktime in this situation?

THis is a question you pose to the guy/gal doing your audio mix. You need to ask them, "Hey, what format of QT file would you like?"
In my experience, they all want something a little different. But they ALL want visible timecode.

  • EXPORT QUICKTIME FOR STREAMING

    Hi,
I have a 3'30" music video that I want to export as a Quicktime for streaming.
It can't be more than 40 MB and preferably it should be lower, but with as good as poss screen quality.
I also need to change the frame size, cos project is 16:9 anamorphic.
Could somebody talk me through it..?
    Many thanks,
    Mark

Scheduling is not a problem as it can be done easily with iCal. Where you may run into trouble is having hinted and non-hinted files in the same folder as that will make it hard to select. A better idea would be to capture to a non-hinted folder, then run the Automator workflow to get those files, hint them, copy to a new hinted folder, and then delete the originals if necessary.
A pretty easy workflow to accomplish this would be
Get Specified Finder Items (on the non-hinted folder)
    Get Folder Contents
    Hint Movie
Copy Finder Items (to hinted folder)
Get Specified Finder Items (on the non-hinted folder)<select the Ignore Previous Results under Files/Folders on this action>
    Get Folder Contents
    Move to Trash
You should definitely test it before adding the Move to Trash part to make sure it works well.
To schedule, save as Plugin for iCal Alarm and make a repeating event.

  • Exporting quicktime for youtube upload

I'm trying to upload a 2 minute tv video for a client. I've tried various suggested settings.
Last time I used quicktime conversion
    H.264
    key frame every 24 frames
    restrict to 5000 kbps
    High Quality Multi pass
    Frame Rate 30
It looks great in my quicktime player, but after youtube is done recompressing it looks like crap.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=141qsOkPs
    Any suggestions

What is there to be done? They convert it to flash..and that tends to make it look like crud. Your video doesn't look any worse than others I have seen on YouTube.
This is why I don't think people will FLOCK to Youtube only for content. I can only take a couple videos at a time.

  • Exporting Scoring Markers for ProTools

    Dear Colleagues
Has anyone here any experience of exporting a Final Cut Pro sequence for ProTools using Scoring Markers? I know these markers translate to Soundtrack Pro, but do they translate to ProTools?
I might be better off using Chapter Markers in the guide QuickTime I give to the composer.
I will be using Automatic Duck Pro Export 4.04 to create the OMF for ProTools.
    many thanks
    Aldo

Sometimes if I'm going outside of Apple Apps - like Logic, which would accept the markers, I just put in a short tone, like a blip every place I would set a marker so the composer can hear where the scoring changes go. When the score is complete, I just import it to the FCP sequence and check for possible timing tweeks, and repeat.

  • Export-Quicktime-DVPAL 48kHz anamorphic settings for 16:9???

I have project I filmed on a Sony PD170 in 16:9, brought it into FCPHD and changes sequence to 16:9 looks fine for what I want.
Now when I export it out for DVDSpro I use the "Export-Quicktime-DVPAL 48kHz anamorphic" setting when I look at the file in QT 7 it is stretched vertically????
First of all why? Then when I go to DVDSpro when I create new project should I have it on "force to letterbox or Pan Scan"? The Simulator is set for 16:9 but when I simulate the DVD the film in back to 4:3 any guidelines would help
    Many thanks

    Hi Allister,
Yes it is stretched vertically and correct. DV PAL is always (no matter if 4:3 or 16:9) 720x576 pixels. The displaying device or software has to stretch the image horizontally to compensate for that during projection.
In DVDSP you should set the display mode to "16:9 Letterbox". The Simulator will always start-up with the setting specified under Preferences-Simulator. If it says 4:3 there, you have to manually set it to 16:9 before playing.

  • Best QuickTime export quality for web

What setting are the best for exporting small .mov files to the internet. I would like to export 6 min. video in less then 20 MB. any ideas?
    Thanks

Wow there are a lot of answers available for search here on this forum.
I like File-Export - Quicktime Conversion... then choose Broadband HIGH... click on OPTIONS and then SIZE and change to something a bit smaller. Change the Audio to 32k sample and it should get you down under 20megs.
    Good luck,

  • Best Export Settings For Fast/Low-Res QuickTime Movies

I couldn't find a discussion room for FCP 7 so I figured if anybody is proficiant with FCP X, they could help me.
    Hello,
I really could use some help with my export settings using FinalCut Pro 7.  Most of my shows are no more than 20 minutes and I pretty much know the best QuickTime export settings for uploading to Vimeo, Exposure Room,YouTube...etc.   But now I am trying export a lengthy project at 53 minutes.
The footage is mixed and some of it was not converted to ProRes but it plays great and renders fine in the timeline. The sequence settings were picked automatically at 1920x1080 because of the main footage that was brought in.
This upload is for client viewing purposes ONLY so I really don't care about the quality as much as the export speed.  As far as what I’ve tried - I am using the H.264 codec.   I tried lowering it to NTSC 720x480, then tried 1280x720 HD.  I set the compressor lower than medium and the Kbps (?) settings to AUTOMATIC when I typically set it manually, between 3000 and 5000.  My audio is set at AAC.
It’s a crappy project because of the way it was frankenstein’d together in the field (I’m just cutting it), but I'm committed now and have a huge deadline.  I'm getting a bit nervous because of how many hours it’s taking to export.  The client is going to make inevitablec hanges and will want to see those changes quickly again - online.
NOTE: My Compressor does not work and I’ve never needed to use so far so that option is not available.
I could really use could some wisdom today!
Thanks so much to whomever can steer me in the right path.

  • Is it possible to create a new preset for Export/Quicktime Conversion ?

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to make a new export preset for the Export with Quicktime Conversion, in FCE HD 3.5
I am working on preparing a file for YouTube, and finding that some of the video effects render differently when exported, so I am having to render a couple of tests, but with YouTube's new 640x360 16:9 format, there is no easy way to do this other than checking the settings at each export. If one could make a new preset, it would be much easier. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    t

    thankyousir.
I think that Apple could add this, easily, as a feature to what, essentially, is QT Pro, and its embedded brother in FCE. Apple could also release a tiny update for QT including the new YouTube format... I haven't checked if iMovie knows about this new resolution, though it does upload directly to the tube itself.
    Thanks for your time,
    T

When you converted the original files via MPEG Streamclip, what did you convert them to?
Have you tried trashing your preferences in FCP? Trashing FCP prefs is usually the first step when FCP is performing strangely.
Download Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion (free) at:

It will allow you to archive your current preferences if you wish to restore them later.

  • Best way to export a quicktime for crisp/clear text

I created a few 60 second text animations and they look perfect when viewing on my NTSC monitor but the text is fuzzy in the NTSC DV quicktimes I made. I exported them at DV resolution because I was originally told the final piece would be on DVD but it turns out they will be projected from a laptop. What are the best settings for exporting a quicktime for this purpose?
    -Jon

When you created them, did you scale them using the "Scale" option under the Motion tab, or the "Size" option under the Control parameters? You should be using "Size".

  • Exporting quicktime with 4 audio tracks for broadcast

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to do this? i need to get a program out to a broadcast quicktime file with sync on 1&2 and M&E on 3&4, i have the sequence setup correctly as did a digi playout for the same thing which was fine. However, if i do 'export quicktime' with sequence settings i only get two audio chanels. If i go to quicktime conversion then all the drop down menus for multiple audio chanels are greyed out.
    Any ideas?
    Best,
    GK

if i do 'export quicktime' with sequence settings i only get two audio chanels
how are up you assessing this? QT Player has only 2 playback channels and additional channels will be mixed down to those ... but if you press Cmd-J to open the movie properties you should see all 4 channels are there, or if you reimport your exported file back into FCP you'll see it contain the 4 audio tracks as exported ... if not then your export settings are not correct :/

  • Best Export Settings for PC Playback H264 or Quicktime w/H264

I searched the forum and found a tip about Exporting Quicktime with H264, and have had really good success.
However, trying the H264 directly, which results in an MP4 file, I have poor results. Even with the same Width and Height and bitrates for QT MOV files, they either playback jerky (same bitrate in QT plays fine), or when I scale down the width/height the video flashes green frames and at the end of the clip even reverses and goes forward Using the QT Pro player for Windows).
Also, cannot find an explanation of the "Profile" and "Level" in the Video settings screen.
PS - Yes, this is all new to me, and Yes I am putting the bitrate down to accommodate my older PC. Video source is the MOV 1080p files from the Canon 5d Mark II.
    Thanks!

PS I spent all my money on the new camera and I cannot afford a MAC, although it is a long term goal.

  • Export Help for PE8 to Quicktime

    Hi -
I am a bit over my head and need some video output advice!
I put together a webinar in my new Premier Elements 8 and I've tested no less than a dozen output fomats and I'm not getting the results that I need.  The images look great  but the text looks fuzzy.  I am working with a series of still images (which inlcude the text) and an audio track.  Here was my process:
    - The webinar was built in Powerpoint which I then exported each slide to a TIFF file (resolution for each looks good)
    - I then brought in the individual images as media and added the audio track, adjusting timing accordingly
    - The finished webinar is long - 41 minutes.  I need to export this to .mov for Quicktime for playback that will stream through a website
I've tested a 30 second piece with both of the existing Quicktime presets and neither one produces clear enough text.  I've tried MPEG in HD and it looks much better, but of course that's a huge file that will then need to be compressed into Quicktime, so that doesn't seem ideal either.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you so much.....

Unfortunately, the transition from PowerPoint to Premiere Elements is not a smooth one. PowerPoint  just doesn't produce a clean enough image
Getting a clean image out of PowerPoint (or other elements of Ms Office) always proved difficult (I believe) because of the Metafile format. This always seemed to dupe most image capturing software (pixellation, tears, noise, false colour backgrounds).
However there has always been one piece of software, on every Windows PC sold, that deals with it beautifully - the oft derided MS-Paint application. I've always been able to get a good clean image by copying an image from PowerPoint, pasting it into MS-Paint and then saving it out as .BMP for further processing. There is a symmetry here with PRE workflows - trying to get an image into a format that can be easily edited.

  • Exporting AAF for Pro Tools.

So I got an OMF from FTP into STP with no problem, only to find that I couldn't export it again - hopefully a feature in the new STP? Anyway, my only option was to export an AAF (don't have the original FCP timeline to work with) - this audio needs to go to Pro Tools.
But my Pro Tools guy is saying he can't do anything with the AAF file if it's not consolidated into one file - like the OMF normally is.
So - is there a way to export a consolidated AAF? I don't see the option.

Our round trip workflow works, but still hoping for a better alternative in the future.
Duplicate & Rename the sequence for export (just a good habit to have... "videoblah.002, 003, etc). Then clean up any potential audio / video problems; clips that are not enabled, duplicate audio, delete blank tracks, and all the stuff the seems to crowd in the back of my timeline.
-It is a good idea to label your audio tracks for transfer (right-click> rename)
After that I export an OMF. (File>Export>OMF) and select the settings below:
That's just audio so for video, I export a quicktime H.264 video for ProTools DVtoolkit (video import plugin).  Protools will except H.264 .MOV files, but it will not ingest H.264 .MP4's.  It will also handle 1920x1080 files, but if I am rendering out a long project I like to keep the file size smaller by cutting the resolution in half or more.
The audio guy then takes it from there and gives me back a 24-bit single track audio wav file.
Thus far it seems to be a workflow, but if I want to go back and make changes, then either I have to do it all over again, or tell the audio guy specifically what needs done.
All in all, it's not efficient as using a roundtrip workflow such as AVID > ProTools and back again in AAF form.
    Hope that helps.

  • Unable to export Quicktime after upgrade from Premiere 7.0 to 8.0 (2014) error "incompatible video codec in preset"

In the previous version of Premiere Pro (downloaded two months ago) I was able to export QuickTime files with preset HD 720p H.264.  It was very easy to do this in the previous version.
Upgraded to Premiere Pro 8.0 (2014), no when I attempt to export the same project with the same settings I see error message "incompatible video codec found in the preset. present load failed"
When I select Quicktime, the default preset appears as NTSC DV Widescreen 24p.   Attempted to export with this setting, result is a file that plays audio but no video.
System is Windows, tried two different computers, including one with Windows 8, same result. Tried Media Encoder, same result.
I searched the forums for an answer, the new features page lists these presets as available however they are not working for me.  Nothing else was changed on the computer, only the upgrade to Premiere 8.0 (2014)
How can I export Quicktime files in the new Premiere Pro?

Tech support helped me solve the issue - uninstall QuickTime and reinstall the newer version of QuickTime
