Export Region As Audio File results in truncated audio file

When I use the Export -> Region As Audio File option, the resulting file does not sound identical to the region. Specifically, the first 100 milliseconds or so are not in the resulting audio file.
Does anyone have the same problem? Does anyone have a workaround?
I'm using this feature to automate the mastering of hundreds of short regions for a CD-ROM title. So while theoretically I could add a little silence to all regions, this is not really practical, unfortunately.
Powerbook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Yes, that was exactly it, the inserted plug-in was to blame. I was using Logic's Adaptive Limiter. Now I'm using the Limiter, and the problem no longer occurs. I'm still somewhat curious if there is a simple workaround (I tried a region delay, but it has no effect on the Export Region feature, apparently), but at least now I know what's going on.
Thanks for the responses!

  • Export Region as Audio File Results in Clicks (pic attached)

Like so many things in Logic, I try out a feature for the first time and it fails... [sigh...]
The region at top is the original audio file which, after selected, I used the "export region as audio file" function. At bottom, the result, where spikes in the audio are clearly seen. They're nastly sounding lil' buggers too. Tried this operation several times with the same result.
    Anyone else run across this?

"Oh, and BTW, the spikes at the beginning and end of the original file are normal (they're 2-pops)."
And why are those pops there? Are they deliberately placed, or just remains of a cut?
Try to remove those pops from the original file and then use "export region as audio file" again and report back.
We are not dealing with tapes here, not even digital ones. This is streaming/reading from RAM or HD and those "2 pops" might very well mess up your export.
When you redid the export, did the "additional pops" always show up in the same location?

  • Export region as Audio File

Hi! See this... i have a couple of instrument tracks and wanna "transorm" them into Audio to save CPU. I tried Export Region as Audio File and it works well the first time, then the second region... Logic quits unexpectedly. I tried 16bit, 24 bit, different destination folder, in solo and not in solo mode, in cycle and not in cycle mode... let's say it doesn't matter. it quits 2, 3 times at the Export as Audio File stage, the next time it works well again. Then quits once more and so on... An hint is that right before chrashing i can see all other regions switching to MUTE mode. fairly odd! Do you have any idea about it?
    Thanx in advance

Works fine here... no problems at all.
Have you tried this in a different song? It may be something with this one Logic file... unless you can duplicate it in another song.
As an alternative, I would suggest you simply export the whole track.

  • Export Region as Audio-file crashes...

    Logic Pro 7.3.
Unexpected quits when bouncing a small region to an audio file.
Is it known or is it my system.
    thanks for informations !!

Are the crashes happening every time you try to export a region? Is it happening with multiple Logic files or just one in particular? The file or track you are trying to export may be corrupt. Perhaps try copying into a new Logic file and see if you experience the same problem.
    That's where I'd start.
Repairing disk permissions would also be something I'd try if the first bit doesn't work.

  • Export region as audio file question

When you do this export does it include for eg: compressor, EQ...? It seems I did this but the volume is lower than what It was when I listened in Logic.

    Tony,
The export as audio track feature does include any plug-ins that are enabled on that channel. Automation however, is not included.
As far as volume being lower, how did you listen to that new audio file? Did you import it back into Logic into a new track? If so, was it's fader at the same level as the original track? If you listened to it from within the audio window, be aware that anything playing through the audio window (by activating the speaker icon), plays out of the first audio object in your environment, and where that fader is positioned. And if you listened to it in the Finder, well that's dependent on your macs system sound settings...

  • 7.1.1 "Export Track As Audio"

This feature, which worked OK in 7.1 now omits controller from the bounce, so all volume, mod wheel, etc. info is not written to the audio bounce.
    Any help out there?

wow, I haven't tried this yet. Does it happen when exporting regions as audio also? It sounds like something that Apple should be made aware of immediately. It's a really good feature, especially for people like me who sometimes have to convert projects into Pro Tools sessions.

  • How to export comps as audio files that start at beginning of song?

    Hi all
I'm a failry casual Logic user, looking for some insights from you experts out there!
Right now I'm helping out on an album project which involves me laying down various parts in a different location to the main project.  Basically I'm getting rough mixes of the songs which I'm importing into my own Logic 8 project as single stereo files.  Then I'm recording my various bits so that I can later send back individual wavs of each track I've recorded.
I've recorded various takes and made a few comps that I want to use for my file export.  However, I haven't always started recording at the very beginning of the song, hence my audio regions don't start at the same point.  I want to give the producer files that can be pulled into the main project with the exact same starting point.
I've tried poking around in the menus and the user guide to figure out how to do this, but without much success.  I've tried "flatten and merge" on my comps, and have then tried drawing some "blank" regions to fill in the space back to the song starting point.  I thought I could then glue them together and export as one audio file, but it's not working.
Before I get myself too tied up in knots, can anyone recommend a "right" way to do this?
    Thanks a lot!

Thanks!  I'll try that third option and see if it works for us.
I'd still like to solve this via option 1 anyway, as it could be useful in other applications (ie when collaborating with systems that don't support the timestamp feature).
The problem is that if I use the pencil tool to draw an empty region, it won't let me glue it to the existing recorded region.  I get the error "Folders and Regions or Aliases cannot be merged."
Also, if I double-click the new region it opens in the piano roll rather than the sample editor, which seems bizarre.  Surely you can't combine MIDI and audio regions on the same track??  This could be a clue as to why it won't let me glue these regions together though.
Note that in the file I'm currently trying this with, I've flattened and merged my takes, having chosen the one I want to keep.  So, I no longer have the take folders visible (and actually, I don't know how I'd get them back if I wanted to, but I guess that's a different question entirely).  My point being that Folders aren't in use here, despite what the error message says.

  • Export selection as audio file

    Hey,
I can export a selection to a MIDI file, I can export a region to an audio file, and I can export a track to audio file. But I can't export a selection of audio regions to a new audio file. Anyone know why this is, and if there's a work-around? I tried setting locators to the selection and exporting the track to new audio file, hoping that with the locators active, it would only export the section of the track I had within the locators, but no such luck, it still exported the entire track into the new audio file.
If this is something simple, sorry for wasting your time. But it would save me a lot of time if I can export my selected audio regions as a new audio file instead of the entire track.
Thanks very much in advance for your help.

Well, you learn something new every day.
Indeed. A bad day is when I haven't. To find out about the mono bounce was new to me too, as I only use stereo files - even for mono sources.
Never occurred to me that I could change the OUTPUT from stereo to mono, though I'm aware of that control for individual tracks.
And I say to that, "Duh." seems pretty straight forward. And less steps than using the glue tool.
    Thanks very much.

  • Exporting 5.1 audio from Audition to single, multichannel audio file

I'm having problems exporting 5.1 audio.  I need to be able to import a 5.1 (or 8 channel file, if left total and right total are included), edit one of the channels individually, and export the session to a single .WAV file containing 6 (or 8) separate channels.
So far, I've been able to split the original multichannel file to 6 mono files, and put them on their own tracks.  But every time I try to export, I either end up with 6 channels (but only two with audio on them), or 6 completely blank channels.  I've tried every combination of Mixdown Options and Master track routing I can think of, but to no avail.
I'm using Audition 7.0.0.118.  Please help.  If you respond, please be as specific as possible, since I'm a n00b at this.  Thanks.

Are you opening the mono files into a 5.1 Multitrack session and using the surround panner to send them to the appropriate tracks?
What do you need to do to the one track that needs editing separately? You might be better off opening the audio as a multichannel file in the Waveform Edit view and do any processing on the one track there. You will then be able to save out to the same multichannel format as the original.

  • Can't export MIDI as Audio file. Any idea what I should have done?

    Hi all,
wonder if anyone can help me out. I'm a "Logic"-newbie.
I recorded 10 "external MIDI" tracks(strings) from my Roland JV 1080 synth module into Logic Pro 9 and now I want to export the MIDI file as Audio but when I go to: File - Export - Track As Audio File, the "Track As Audio File" is gray/ not enabled !! The option-"Export All Tracks As Audio Files " is enabled, but when I try it, it doesn export the MIDI tracks with all the Roland JV 1080 data.It only exports any other recorded "soft instruments"tracks or Audio tracks I've uploaded. Keep in mind, the 10 Midi recorded tracks of strings (JV 1080) are using the same program name/patch, and all 10 tracks are on a single channel. In the Inspector window, it doesn't show the "Bounce" option either. When I started recording the strings from this patch, I used the "new track with duplicate settings"-button,so I could have the same sounding string patch available right away. My Roland JV 1080 synth, is connected to the Midi interface only. Should I also have Audio cables connected from JV 1080's Mix Out to the Audio interface (Apogee-Duet) in order to record directly as Audio?
    Thanks for your time guys!

Thank you as well! Since, you have similar equipment like mine- (Apogee/ Emagic), how do you suggest I connect my devices properly. I got an external  12-channel "Mackie"1202-VLZ Mixer, which has my Roland JV 1080 box and my Kurzweil PC2X controller kyes connected to.These two are also, connected MIDI In and Out -to my Emagic Unitor 8 MKII (Audio Interface). I'm a little confused about the connecting of my Apogee Duet, since it has just 2 OUT's- L and R. What's the best rigging here, so I can hear the Audio back from the JV 1080 and the Kurzweil?
( P.S. The Apogee Duet's OUT's (L& R) are plugged into the Mackie'sStereo Aux Returns (L&R). The monitors are  connected to the Main Outs.)
    I appreciate your suggestions.

  • How do i export a single video file that also contains ac3 audio

    Hi Guys,
Is it possible to export a single video file that also contains ac3 5.1 surround audio?
I can create seperate audio and video files ok, but not a single file?
    Please help...
    Regards
    Andy

You won't be able to do this with just FCPX by itself. You should be able to use Compressor to do this, or you can use Quicktime Pro to create a single .mov file from the separate video/audio files exported from FCPX.
If you use Compressor, you can save the preset and make it available inside FCPX for future use.

  • Missing 'Export Track as Audio File' command Logic Pro X 10.0.6

Hi - I have just installed Logic Pro X (v10.0.6) for the first time, having come across from PT.
For some reason, Logic appears to be missing some key 'Export Track as Audio File' commands from the menu. The shortcut Command + E just makes the screen flash and nothing happens. I also appear to be missing a lot of other basic commands along with this, based on what I have seen online from other users. Please see screenshot below of my file > export options:
I have tried reinstalling but the same problem occurs.
Could someone please confirm if this is normal, or how I might be able to fix if not? FYI, I am running OS X 10.9.1..
I am hopefully just missing something obvious here.
    Thanks

Evidently it's not giving the user a choice at installation?
It does.. but it words it along the lines of 'Have you used Logic Pro in the past?" kind of thing....
So an experienced DAW user that hasn't previously used Logic, would get the limited installation.
The more people you try and and protect from themselves the more generic (i.e. limited) the solution.
Religion would be a good example of this.

Unless you held down the Command key when dragging the iPhoto Library package to the flash drive you only copied the library.  How is the flash drive formatted?  If it was not OS X Extended (journaled) the integrity of the library's internal structure was probably compromised.
If you don't have a current backup of your library do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
    2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

  • Workflow Export 5.1 Audio to WAV

    Hi,
I want to improve my audio workflow in Premiere CS6.
    My Task:
I have to master feature length movies in premiere and have to export the final 5.1 audio:
    1. as 5.1 48KHz 24Bit RF64 multi channel broadcast WAV
    2. as set of discrete audio channels L R C Lfe Ls Rs
    What doesn't works for me:
    1. Export multichannel WAV: because the multichannel file would be larger 4GB Premiere just gives an error on export.
    2. Send to Audition: because the multichannel file would be larger 4GB Premiere just gives an error on export.
    3. Export Quicktime - audio only: this always results in corruped files with random audio peaks. (looks like a memory leak in the export)
    My Workaround:
    1. Export 5.1 audio to AVI - audio only - uncompressed 5.1 48KHz 24Bit
    2. Import the exported AVI into Audition
    4. Resample from 32bit float back to 24bit integer
    3. Save as 48KHz 24Bit RF64 multi channel broadcast WAV
    4. Split channels to mono files
    5. Save all 6 mono channels
    My question:
Is there a way to export the audio WAV directly from Premiere?
    thanks
    nw42

I do not believe that PrPro can Export to Multi-channel (above 2-channel) WAV.
The only two choices that I know of are:
Export to DD 5.1 SS AC3 w/ Minnetonka Audio SurCode Encoder plug-in (optional purchase)
Per your workaround, Export as a muli-channel WMA, then break out each channel to a discrete mono file. This is what I do, to later Encode to DTS with the SurCode DTS Encoder (stand-alone, not plug-in)
Maybe others will have other ideas for you.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Cannot Export MPEG2 with Audio

    Hi Guys
I have a bizare problem. I've been trying to export a short 2 min movie to MPEG 2 for YouTube but it won't export the audio with video and exports the audio as a separate file (yes, the export audio box is checked)! Yet it will export with audio to AVI. What could I have switched off or need to switch on?
Can anyone advise please? The movie was captured using the DV PAL Codec (720x576). The export settings are:
