Export resize possibly broken

I have a set of images that fit within 1400x1050.  I want them to fit within 1024x768.  As I have done before, I set the export directory, choose 1024x768 as the export size, highlight all of the images and click export.  The first image in the set shows what iis going wrong.  It starts out as 680x1050 and finishes as 680x1050.  Clearly this is wrong - it is not resizing.
Strangely, some of the images ARE corectly resized.  Random ones are not.
What is going on - have I found a bug????

You've encountered a known bug which is caused by having the "Don't Enlarge" option checked:

  • Flash and quicktime export not possible at all!

    hi iwork dev team!
as there was no result on my prev post, here again:
    i use keynote'08 4.02 on imac with 2gb and osx 10.5.2.
i created a presentation with 15 slides and over all 16,5 minutes.
each slide has a mp3 sound file attached (the speakers voice recorded externally).
now i am facing following problems on *export to flash* (export is around 18mb):
    1) synchronization of voice and effects is different than inside keynote - i fixed this by changing times and export/test cycles, as long until i run sync in swf (please make it sync - this is terrible).
    2) starting with slide 13 some objects do not appear - in further slides many objects do not appear. the sound and time is ok, but not much to see. if i split the presentation into 2 parts, the export works fine, all objects appear in all slides, but i found no way to combine those 2 swf files....
    3) in one slide i found out that the order of appearing/disappearing objects confuses the swf export, so that many objects afterwards are not at all shown.... i played around long and splitted the slide in 2 slides and with some workarounds i got it show all objects.
    4) it would be great if at least some transitions and most effects would be supported and times of effects would be the same inside keynote and in exported swf.
    *exporting to quicktime*:
    1) first i had one large mp3 for the whole presentation and added it as soundtrack and synced it inside keynote. exporting this to quicktime made it run async. but at least export was possible for the full presentation.
    2) i splitted the mp3 for each slide and added each mp3 to each corresponding slide. this way i made it possible to export to swf (see above). but quicktime export now has no sound and slide shows up nearly endless.... qt export is impossible.
    what can i do?
at least it would help me if i can export ONE swf file.
best would be if it has same sync inside keynote and in swf - but i can live for now with swf export optimized sync that doesnt work inside keynote. but it should be fixed at least in the future....

I'm currently having a similar problem, where the Flash exported by Keynote seems to randomly miss some objects on the page that appear after a click or a delay. In fact, in one case, I had embedded a EPS file in the slide, and some parts of the embedded file were exported to Flash but not others. I'm using Keynote 3.0.2, so I'm sorry to hear that Keynote '08 still has this bug which makes Flash export pretty awful to deal with.

  • Export / Render Video Broken?

GTX 570, 1.3GB - Recognized by PhotoShop for OpenCL and OpenGL
PhotoShop CC (v 14.1.2 x64) Trail (about 5 days into it)
    1) I can open a video and play it back at the speed of the video.
    2) I can not get playback faster than 1 fps if there are any filters applied - the pre-render / buffering isn't working at all.
    3) I can not "Render Video" by choosing either "Render Video from the menus or the Export Arrow button in the GUI.
As soon as I select either I get a Progress Bar that that says "Initializing Video Export" but never finishes. I have waited as long as 4hrs and still no dice.
I've tried with more than a few different videos and the result is always he same.  Here are three of the videos I have tried with:

Any assistence or suggestions in solving this seemingly righteous bug would be greatly appreciated!

Dilip: I am sorry we do not have more information on that.
Tesselator Tess: OK, thanks. Do you realize that in the time it took to tell me "Sorry Charlie” 5 times you could have told me of a fix or looked in your DB for related issues?
    Tesselator Tess:
Dilip: I am sorry for the inconvenience.
    Tesselator Tess: Me too.
Dilip: Do you have any other questions for me?
Tesselator Tess: No, just those two.
Dilip: Thank you for contacting Adobe. Good Bye.
    This chat session has ended.

Is the trial version of Photoshop CC a function-limited (cripled) eddition or is it the full-featured version same as the purchased product? I had always thought they were the full versions but I thought I might check to make sure.

  • I input 1080p high quality video - how can I get as lossless export as possible?

I am making a long documentary and I want to synch video and audio and prepare many snippets of video and put them in my library. I want to export each of them as lossless as possible. What are the optimal export settings for lossless?
    -Rodel Ituralde

Did you load the footage already? If so, what is the codec?
If not then we generally use 10 bit uncompressed & ProRes 422 (HQ)
We load with one of those codecs, have sequence settings to match, & then export QT current settings.
one issue is the files can be rather large.
last doc we worked on as 10 bit uncompressed was 400 GB for the final export (50 min)
Pro Res is said to be virtually lossless. Lots of other options, but all depends on what  codec the footage is, what your edit settings are, and what the final end use is for the project.

  • Exporting Highest Possible Output

I realize this issue is pretty fundamental, but with all the available codecs and possible parameters and with all the reams and reams (bits & bits?) of FCP-related documentation available, I'm not clear where to go. If someone would like to point me to a white paper somewhere I'd be happy to read it.
I'm close to locked on my show. When we are locked I'll need to export a full resolution QT to deliver to a post house for color correction and mastering to final media. My questions is what is the truest possible QT export configuration to deliver the highest quality image? File size is not an issue.
Here are my specifics. My sequence is derived primarily from P2 material shot at HD 960X720 and 24fps. My sequence settings are the same: HD (960x720), (16:9), Editing TimeBase: 23.98. I also sourced a few shots from SD footage.
Do I simply select my final sequence and go to File>Export>QuickTime Conversion>Settings and choose None for Compression Type? If so do I then ignore the Compressor settings since I'm choosing to use no compression? Or do I select Millions of Colors+ and Best for Quality under the Compressor portion of the window?
If I do choose 'None,' 'Millions+' and 'Best' and then go to the 'Size' button, it defaults to Compressor native of 1277 x 718. Is this the appropriate size? I chose to not use any compression so I'm not clear what 'Compressor native' means. My source footage was 960x720, but that's not even available in the pulldown menu.
Or am I tackling this in entirely the wrong fashion?
I've tried to provide as much pertinent info as possible and may have muddied the waters in the process. I also may have left something out. If anyone can help or point me to a link or document that would clear this up for me, I'd appreciate it.
    Bonus Questions:
    1. Would it be appropriate or pretentious to write 'codices' instead of 'codecs?'
    2. How is it that my 960x720 files play as 16x9 when 960x720 really equals 4x3?
    Martin

The problem with staying with DVCProHD is that that codec may not be available at the post house.
You don't need millions+ because there aren't any alpha channels.
Might want to consider 8-bit uncompressed, but the files will be huge
But talk first to the post house. If they can CC DVCProHD, stay with it.
    Or ask what it prefers.
As to the questions, I believe it's codecs. And the HVX200 does shoot anamorphic.
The files are actually 1280x720. it's a matter of square vs rectangular pixels

  • Export to Excel Broken

I believe the Export all to Spreadsheet is broken.  I performed two searches today in Firefox 3.6.10; each time I attempted an export the activity indicator continually ran with no result.  I did the same searches in IE 8; With IE I got no activity indication, the screen just jumped to the top of the page.  How do I open a bug?  I would need the Project, Product, Component, Version, etc. to use CDETS for a bug submission.
    Thanks,

    Hi Marc
You are encountering a known issue we are tracking right now, that is impacting the export functionality in Bug Toolkit.
We are currently working with the development team to resolve this problem.
Bug Toolkit can only help in searching & reading existing bug information. It does not have capability to open new bugs.

  • Bug in LR 5.6 export "Resize to Fit: Dimensions" feature?

A site that I shoot for requires uploaded photos to be EXACTLY 3000 x 2216 pixel JPGs. In LR 5.6 I created a custom crop aspect 3.000 x 2.216 (~1.354:1). When I export the images, I set the "Resize to fit" parameters to be "Dimensions" and 3000 x 2216 pixels (also, "Don't enlarge" is OFF, and resolution is 300 ppi). However, most of the Nikon D800 RAW photos I export this way end up being 2992 x 2216. For example I cropped an image using the custom aspect and the dimensions became 3320 x 4495, which is also ~1.354:1. However when I export this using the above "resize to fit" parameters, the resulting image is 2216 x 2992.Another image cropped to 4194 x 5677 correctly exported at 2216 x 3000.
Is this a bug or am I misunderstanding something here.

Sorry, Bob, you are confusing the "resize to width and height" setting, which preserves aspect ratio, with the "resize to fit dimensions" setting, which is supposed to set the exact dimensions, even if it changes the aspect ratio.
    From the Lightroom help pages:
Dimensions - Applies the higher value to the longer edge of the photo and the lower value to the shorter edge regardless of the photo’s original aspect ratio. Specifying 400 x 600, for example, produces a 400 x 600 portrait photo or a 600 x 400 landscape photo.
I'm pretty sure this is a bug, but I can't figure out a workaround other than to write a Photoshop action to fix the dimensions after I export them.

  • Export Resized Photos as New Catalog with Keyword Hierarchy

I want a new catalog with small jpgs and the hierarchical keywords. But I seem to be able to get each part of that individually but I can't seem to get them all at the same time.
If I select images and export them with "Write Keywords as Lightroom Hierarchy" checked, then import those new jpgs into a new catalog, my keywords are a flat list without the hierarchy. I tried exporting my keyword hierarchy as *.txt then importing it into an empty catalog so the hierarchy already existed. When I imported the new jpgs into that catalog, the keywords still came in as a flat list appended to the hierarchical keyword list.
I tried selecting the images and importing as a new catalog, which gives me a new catalog, but the new catalog has the original raw images.
    Any suggestions?
Thanks for any help with this.

Thanks, I thought I might be missing something. I had thought of doing what you suggested, but was worried about the potential for messing up my "real" catalog. If this is the only option, I think I'll just live with the flat keyword list for this project.
To answer your question about why I want to do this: I am exporting photos that I'm putting into a ZenPhoto gallery on my website. I'm resizing the images for the web, and I don't want the resized jpgs in my main catalog. The web jpgs will have something in the Rights Usage IPTC data that I don't want in my main catalog, so I wanted the web jpgs in a catalog to change the IPTC data, although I could do that in Bridge.

  • CS3 Exporting/Resizing problem

    Hello
Although I have some basic experience I am not great with any of the Creative suite products. I usually will search and resolve any issues that I get but I could not find an answer to this one.
I have been putting together a project in Adobe premiere CS3. All of the AVI clips in the project are exported from Adobe AE. A few of the AVI files were slightly the wrong size and so I adjusted them using the little handles in Premiere. In one circumstance I forgot to put an element into an AVI clip and so just put a PNG image ontop of the clip in Premiere.
As I am nearing the end of the project I decided to trial exporting the piece, to my dismay almost every clip in the project has either resized or moved quite far from where it is actually placed in the project. In turn the PNG image is no where near where it was originally placed. While previewing the project every thing is fine, but after several exports it always ruins it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most answers are coming from the newsgroup, where a bump
    doesn't have
any effect except for adding more noise to the discussions.
    It won't
push the thread back to the top, which is why it's considered
    pointless
and annoying by almost every newsgroup regular.
And even in many web forums bumping is frowned upon,
    especially if it's
done just a few hours after the initial post. In some
    moderated forums
such frequent bumping may cause a deletion of the posting or
    even a
    temporary ban from the forum.
If you still think you have to do it, please wait at least 12
    hours. But
as said - it's rather pointless.

  • Batch Export now possible?

I read in an old thread, that it was not possible, but how about in ver. 10.1.+?
I am testing ver. 10.1.2 now and for me it would be very important.
My workflow in FCP 7.3 is:
I put many individual clips in the timeline, color correct them all via copy/paste them and create a batch list and export all the clips in the batch folder individual with their original filename.
That means, I can do something else or even have it run over night if there are many.
This is the only way I handle high volume of clips.
I know in the early ver. 10.0. xxx it was not possible.
    Hopefully, Apple added this option.
    Thanks

You can queue up multiple projects and/or clips during the export process. In other words, you can export one project and then another, without waiting for the prior project to complete.
What you can't do is select multiple projects and then hit the Share button and get multiple output files.
Compressor will, of course, process batches; it's a primary reason for having the program. But you cannot select multiple files in FCP and send to Compressor.
Here is a tutorial that illustrates a  kind of faux batch export process.

  • AVCHD Editing - Export - Best possible quality?

    Hi there,
I own the panasonic hdc-sd9 (avchd). I´ve read millions of words regarding the quality, problems, exports, interlace and so on and (although I understand the details very well) after all I´ve been confused indeed.
What I really want to know (a nobody could answer in a clear and simple way) is the following:
    1. I´m able to import 1080p-movies into iMovie 08. Since iMovie only works with 540 lines, what happens to my video files? Does iMovie cut away every second frame? (1080p is not interlace!)
    2. If I use FCE or iMovie HD 06 and do an export of 1080i, applying an deinterlace-filter, how much lines will be exported (1080 or 540) ?
    3. The main problem: In which mode (1080i or 1080p) should I do the record, and how should I export then after editing (iMovie08, iMovie06 HD or FCE) to get the BEST POSSIBLE QUALITY WITHOUT INTERLACE ? That´s the simple question, nobody can answer to me.
    Kind regards
    Joerg

and AVCHD is of no use for iMHD6 too..
we noticed on araise of iM08 some weird effects on export of 'video' from within iM08 Projects (me old dv user, so forgive my ignorance making my test with that old Standard-standard): http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1090633
afaik, AVCHD gets automatically converted to AIC to make it editable (=no 'native' AVCHD editor on Mac). what happens to progressive footage on export? No idea.. (lack of AVCHD files......)
that 'cheap' deinterlacer was meant for the QT-Deinterlacer feature: you can double any odd line to create 'progressive'; or, on professional equip, a DI would 'blend' the odd and even lines into two 'inbetween' lines..
Don't hesitate to perform your own tests, free tool JES Deinterlacer http://www.xs4all.nl/~jeschot/home.html - it uses that 'blending' techniqué.. does NOT rely on the Quicktime engine..
so, iMHD6/FCE3.5 is of no use for your device; iM08 could probably do weird things on export.. test it and share your insights, screen shots preferred..

  • Export of XDCAM broken or weird

I'm editing XDCAM 1920 x 1080 from XDCAM EX.  If I use "export same as sequence" Premiere writes a .MPEG file that Quicktime player cannot open.  If I specify XDCAM EX codec at 1920 x 1080 MOV file, the export is 1440x1080.
    1) Mac Pro /  OS 6.8 / Premiere 5.5 / been shooting & editing HD footage for 5 years but new to Premiere.
    2) Premiere just doesn't want to believe that I want XDCAM EX quality OUT of my edit.  I do.  (Let's not debate whether I need this, let's focus on whether it is impossible or possible)
I'd love to figure out how to have the export quality = the original quality but I can't.  Either it isn't possible with XDCAM EX footage or the controls are somewhere I haven't found.  Love to hear from folks who know how to do this.

I'd love to figure out how to have the export quality = the original quality but I can't.
The only way to do that is with a lossless export.  Any other option will introduce some level of degradation.
The UT codec is a good choice for this.  It's free, lossless, cross-platform, offers both RGB and YUV modes, as well as alpha transparency, and both 709 and 601 color space for HD and SD use.  It also plays nice with Adobe software.
    http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Ut-Video-Codec-Suite
However, it doesn't always play in media players, so if that's the goal rather than continued editing, you may need to choose another option.  H.264 (which creates MP4 files) is probably the best choice for computer playback.  The files are small and can still be excellent quality.

  • How can I export video without broken color gradient?

I recently use iMovie alot to AVCHD videos taken by my Panasonic GF2. The original video quality is really good. The gradient is smooth and beautiful. When it comes to export from iMovie. I always got broken gradient in dark area.

These are not font issues, they are encoding mismatches, where names are either not in Unicode as required by OS X or are somehow being read in the wrong encoding.  It is not uncommon with mp3 files imported from Windows, which often uses different encodings than Mac.  The zip utility also botches encodings sometimes.
Try to make sure all the id3 tags are in Unicode before transferring and avoid zipping/unzipping and see if that helps.

  • Finder resizing is broken

Is Finder broken in Yosemite? Whenever I resize the window to my preferred size, after closing, the window will be back to whatever size and place Finder believes it should be, not where I need it. Any suggestions, like  YOSEMITE TEAM, FIX THIS ASAP?

I am having an issue with views as well. Location, size, list view columns, even views with 'always open in' selected get ignored. I have reinstalled os x clean in trying to get rid of this issue after deleting finder prefs, repairing permissions, and deleting all ds_store files via terminal. Nothing works. Interestingly, it seems sometimes finder refuses to create a ds_store file even when changing view options. Sometimes, the file is created but eventually ignored.
