Export resolution changes from 720 x 576 to 768 x576

I am using QuickTime Pro 7.6.8 on Windows 7 64 bit.
I just tried exporting a captured avi file which has an aspect ratio of 4:3. It is PAL file with a resolution of 720 x 576--this is confirmed in the file properties > details. However, when I export this file from QuickTime as a mov file the resolution changes to 768 x576. Even if I choose "PAL 720 x 576 4:3" in QT Options > Size > Dimensions, the summary in Movie Settings states that the dimensions are "768 x 576 (current)".
If I select preserve aspect ratio using letterbox the movie summary indicates that the dimensions are "720 x 576 (768 x 576)". I am puzzled.
The exported mov files does not look distorted when I play it in QT Player. But when I import the mov file into an NLE, it appears to be distorted (too wide). How can I keep the dimensions strictly at 720 x 576.
Second question: I want to preserve the same quality of the captured MiniDV AVI file in the exported mov file for use in an editor. Which settings would you recommend for this?
Thanks.

720x576 is the correct size. The only size used by PAL digital video. The other number is used as a square pixel representation, but it's never used in video. If you can't set the correct pixel aspect ratio in your animation application then make it using square pixels 768x576. Take that into the QuickTime Pro player and export to the correct aspect for DV PAL to conform the pixel aspect ratio.

  • Exporting scene changes from SpeedGrade to Premiere CS6

    Hello All,
I am currently using Adobe SpeedGrade and Premiere Pro CS6.  I have a lengthy 2 hour video with multiple scene changes in it.  I decided to go with the SpeedGrade "Scene Change Detect" tool to automatically find the scene changes and chop the video up for me.  When it is done analyzing the video, I select the "Split Into Clips" option and save the file as an EDL.  (I am not very experienced with SpeedGrade or EDL's so excuse my unprofessionalism.)  I go to import the EDL into Premiere to make some changes to it, but all I see is a folder that contains an .avi file, which is the original file I had put into speedgrade, and a sequence.  When I drop the sequence into Premiere, it is not split into clips like it should be.  Is there something I am doing wrong?  Thanks.

Unfortunately this is a limitation of the EDL-format. Other competitive applications show the same results with exporting a EDL form a scene-detected clip. The purpose of an EDL was to be able to lay out an edit as efficiently form one machine to an other, with tape or film as footage. 'dumb'-cuts are ignored because they have no purpose for this. Now, two generations later, we want those dub-cuts for various reasons... If requested Adobe to alter the edl-creation in SG so then when importing it in PR, the dumb-cuts stay.

  • MTU keeps changing from 1500 to 576

I wanted to lock the MTU to 1500 for my Internet port so I made the following changes:
In rc.local I placed the command
    ifconfig eth0 mtu 1500
    In /etc/conf.d/dhcpcd  I added:
    nohook mtu eth0
Note that the eth0 port is set up to use dhcp in rc.conf.
So it boots correctly, MTU is set to 1500, and Internet access is fine. Sometime during the day the MTU changes to 576.
Does anyone know what process is doing this? Is it something I can change?
    Thanks in advance.

walterjwhite wrote:576 as that would dramatically slow down
MTU is a can of worms - I've played with it, to try to get my ADSL modem reliable, and now do:
ip route replace default via 192.168.1.1 mtu 1460
So now for me this works:
    ping -s 3000 www.dslreports.com
576 is the *safest* value, AFAICT, because all IPV4 networks need to support it, as a minimum. And increasing the MTU is a trade-off between responsiveness and throughput, with the risk that MTU negotiation (via ICMP) can fail.
It would be interesting to know the rationale. Maybe it's a case of, "if you have to ask for the MTU, we'll answer with the safest MTU value."

  • Why did the preset web resolution change from 72ppi to 135ppi?

    Hi,
I just noticed this in the latest photoshop update. Is there a reason why this is? If this is to make designing for retina easier (not having to zoom as much in photoshop), why isn't it at 144?
    Just curious – thanks!

I guess if you are a web designer, 72 is kind of a benchmark for Mac screen resolutions going back to the mid-1990s. 96 is the Windows standard of 640 x480 px.
It's kind of weird. Those two screen resolution standards are no longer common and I would think browsers today would adjust to fit the screen.
I wouldn't even worry about the number in the resolution field.

  • Why does Firefox display only half a page when system is coming out of a resolution change from a game?

When I leave Firefox open in the background while playing Dungeons and Dragons Online, when I close DDO and open Firefox again, it only displays half a page and the bottom browser bar is less than half way down the screen. The rest is just blank space like the browser was shrunk and then enlarged again, but the display window in the browser didn't readjust again. I have to close FF and reopen again to fix it. It used to be that the empty space was white. A recent update now causes that space to be RED when it occurs. Not sure if that helps any. I don't have any other games right now, so I haven't tested this with other games, but this ONLY happens to FF!
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

Another user posted a screenshot of something like that earlier this afternoon, and I'm not sure what is causing that to happen. I suspect if may be caused by an extension that was recently updated, but no ideas about which one it may be. I just got back to my computer after be gone for the last five hours, so I don't if there has been any additional information in the other thread or not. This is about all I can figure to do right now until we have more information related to this new issue.
Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?

  • Capturing of DV-PAL randomly wrong - 1049 x 576 instead of 720 x 576

I have a Panasonic NV-GS280 DV-PAL Camcorder and try to capture the footage with premiere pro. The footage is 720 x 576 (Aspect Ratio 1.4587) DV-PAL 16:9.
Most of the scenes are captured correctly, but some of them (other ones on every try) are randomly captured as 1049 x 576 (1.4587) - looks squeezed. The camcorder is'nt able to record 1049 x 576...
Is it possible to force premiere on a fixed resolution at capturing (720 x 576) to avoid this problem?
    Best regards
    Joerg

I have the issues on a Mac. Quicktime is 7.6.6 (pro) and 10.0.
(I have the same issue with 4:3 clips dv-pal, some of them are randomly captured in 720 x 576 and 787 x 576 (both 1,0940) from the same camera - the same footage, same tape).
    Back to the 1049 x 576 instead of 720 x 576 - problem:
All clips are seen in the project-window (rightclick at the clip - information) as 16:9 and 1,4587 - which is false in case of the 1049 x 576. Both the clip information as the short info on top of the project-window showing 1049 x 576 on such a clip. The captured footage should be allways 720 x 576 Aspect 1,4587. It is definitely wrong, that some clips where captured from the same tape with 1049 x 576 Aspect 1,4587. Those clips are shown in all available informations in ppro with this wrong values.
    @Ann Bens
The wrong clips (1049 x 576) are shown in the interprete footage - option as 16:9 - 1,4587. I know, this is nonsense, but it is.

  • Slideshow export - how to fit it in 720 X 576 video project?

I want to use a slideshow in my video in fcpx - I try to export it to 720 X 576, which are my video settings, but it doesnt work. Aperture just overrides my resolution. What should I do?

Thanks. Yes, I need to downscale it, but the problem is that Adobe Premiere probably doesn't have the best codecs to downscale and retain best quality available. That's why I found so many tutorials online using 10 programs at the same time to do it. What I am finding harder to do is to convert from 16:9 to 4:3. Once I have my 4:3 HD footage I can then use one of those tutorials to downscale it to best quality I can have. Do you agree? Or is it better to just do it in Premiere? I really want to letterbox it, I don't want to pan and scan. I want my video to be presented in scope.
    Thanks

  • How can I export an image from Illustrator same canvas size and custom resolution?

Hey all.  i am using Adobe Illustrator CS5 for creating images for iPhone app icons the size of image 374 px 374 px and 264 ppi. i created an image same size and ppi .the problem after export the image file size changing to  1371px x 1371px and 264 ppi pixel dimension. How can I export same canvas size and same resolution file from illustrator

    10111980,
If you just forget about PPI and use Save for Web, you will get the 374 x 374 pixel size.
The 1371 x 1371 pixels is because you somehow increase the resolution by 264/72.
You should never mix pixel by pixel sizes and PPI.
The 374 x 374 pixels is the actual image size. At 264 PPI that will be about 1.417 inches. At 72 PPI that will be about 5.194 inches.

  • Exporting Changes from Crystal 8.5 and Crystal 10

    Post Author: spentmotiff
    CA Forum: Exporting
Please forgive me if this was in the Tech. Database; I searched but did not see any information pertaining to this.
I have recently upgraded from Crystal Reports 8.5 to Crystal 10 and have noticed that when exporting a report as a CSV file, the formatting has changed in Crystal 10 versus Crystal 8.5. The problem with this is that I am first exporting the file from Crystal Reports as a CSV file and then importing this file into another report that I must then send to my State Government; since upgrading to Crystal 10, the formatting changes are causing my export file to lose columns and data. I have tried manually changing the CSV file to no avail.
Any insight or information into having my Crystal Reports 10 Export file match the Crystal Reports 8.5 format will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Sharon,

  • Exporting movie fr FinalCut to QT - framerate changes from 29.97 to 28.47

I'm exporting a movie from Final Cut 4 to Quicktime 7.0.4 and the frames per second (fps) are changing from the intended 29.97 to 28.47, and I don't know why.
I'm exporting it in the highest quality (animation) for the finished film. It exports into QT at 17gigs. When I open "Show Movie Info" under the window tab, it says the fps is 28.47, but then if I drag the film (file) back into Final Cut it's 29.97 again, but that doesn't help me.
    Any thoughts?

The frame rate shouldn't change at export.
Leave the Movie Info window opened while you play the file. You'll notice two settings:
    FPS:
    Playing FPS:
Which shows the oddball frame rate? Does the playing rate change during playback?
Does your export include a timecode track (Movie Properties window)?

  • Import footage 720 x 576 (PAL) but export defaults to 768 x 576

    Hi,
I'm working on a project where I'm creating lots of little video clips for the web.
I'm working in Final Cut Express and the website firm requires I export my files as .avi (not sure why, but that's the deal). I shot on mini DV and when I import my footage it comes in at 720 x 576, which is what I would want. However, when I export as a .avi sequences are converted automatically to 768 x 576. If i export as .mov, I can force the film to export at 720 x 576 (although it adds little black bars down the side in quicktime) but these films look squished to me. Is this problem related to the square/rectangular pixel thing? Could somebody please explain what final cut is doing?
    Thanks
    Mary

Thank you for your quick response, Tom!
So am I right in thinking that 768 x 576 is the correct ratio for the footage on a computer screen?
What has further confused matters for me is that when i spoke to the web design people they said they're putting the footage in a box that is 4:3 and so want the .avi files to be 720 x 576. Surely this is not strictly 4:3 on computer square pixels? Should i crop my footage in order to fit without squishing?

  • Book profiles change from RGB 1998 to sRGB when exported

My printer guy tells me that when I export a book from Aperture, the profile it attaches is srgb and I want Adobe RGB1998 which I've change the presets to do, but they change on conversion to a pdf file How can I fix this? I need the color space of RGB1998 and srgb is killing my colors. Anyone got an answer to this!!!

In 99% of cases you want the RAW file.
Can I ask why you're shooting RAW+JPEG?  In general, unless you have a very specific workflow (i.e. shooting 2000 shots for a sporting event, and getting them to an editor), a RAW-only workflow makes a lot more sense than RAW+JPEG because with Aperture you can create a JPEG from the RAW any time you want.
So keep the RAW file.  But Aperture will import them both, and managing that takes more work and effort unless you have a very specific reason for shooting RAW+JPEG.
