Export Schema Oracle 10g

Simple question (I think)
When I run exp command does this export the entire schema + data or just the schema with no data?
Does it export all functions, roles, constraints etc?
Thanks

as mentioned above by others depends upon options you use...
you can mention grants=y/n ..constraints =y/n ..rows=y/n (data) and yes when you export full schema the functions, procedures & packages, roles & privileges will get exported along with it..... !!

  • Exporting schema (Oracle 9i Solaris 9)

    Hi Guys,
I want to create a dev. database so that I can play around oracle so I have done an export of my production. I then created a user on my dev box but now when I try to import the data it says user does not exist.
How do I create a schema if that's the case.
    Thank you.

in your import parfile you need to use this:
fromuser=<user that is in the export> touser=<user you created in your dev db>
add this line along with the other parameters you specified:
    imp userid=xxxxx/xxxxx file=xxxxxx log=xxxxxxx ignore=x fromuser=xxxxxxx touser=xxxxxxxx buffer=xxxxxxx

  • Query to do import and Export for Oracle 10g

For MYSQL we have queries available for import and export
import:-LOAD DATA INFILE 'filename' INTO TABLE tablename FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
export:-SELECT * into OUTFILE 'file name' FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' FROM tablename
Do we have similar query in Oracle which can be executed on SQL * Plus

Is it a feedback opinion you want to get/put ?
If not, then use a proper forum, which you can find somewhere here below :
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=18
Maybe Database General is the one for your question.
By the way, explain where you get the data from (flat file -sqlldr - or dump file -imp -?), and where you want to put the data (flat file - select - or dump file -exp - ?), be sure you know the format of file of your output.

  • Steps to export and import oracle 10g databse from AIX to AIX and LINUX

    Hi,
I need the steps to export the oracle 10g database from AIX server to AIX server and LINUX server.
Please give me all the steps as this is my first exort an import activity.
    thanks,

For 10g there exist two ways to do so.
    1) Regular exp/imp.
    2) Data pump expdp/impdp.
As this is your first export and import activity, relevant concept understanding is mandatory for you.
    Documentation Link
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/toc.htm
Read the chapters 1,2,3 (Data pump expdp/impdp) and 19 (regular exp/imp). Good luck.

  • Export from Oracle 9i to be Imported into Oracle 10g on 32bit platform

    Hi,
Currently, I am in the process of performing a Homogenous system copy
due to a domain change in our organization using R3load procedure.
I have taken the export of the existing system which is on Oracle 9i.
Initially, I was planning on setting up the new system on Oracle 9i,
now that Oracle 9i is out of support, I would have to go with Oracle
    10g.
I found a note on this topic, SAP Note: 932722, however, this note
explicitly talks about database specific procedure of system copy and
also this note is for 64 bit platform.
Can you point me towards a Note or documentation which can be used as
reference for importing an Oracle 9i export into Oracle 10g on 32bit
    platform(System copy procedure is R3load)?
    OS- Windows 2003 32bit, ECC 5.0
    Regards,
    Vishnu.

    Hi Gagan,
    Thanks for your response,
As per your suggestion, I looked at the System Copy guide for Heterogeneous System Copy,
On service.sap.com/osdbmigration under FAQ's this is what I found,
I plan to copy my SAP system to a new hardware with the same OS and DB products but higher release levels. Is this a migration or a homogeneous system copy?
A change of the version of the operation system and/or the database system is not relevant in the context of a migration or a homogeneous system copy. If you don't change the product, but only the release level it is a homogeneous system copy. If you change OS and/or DB, it is a migration.
The system copy guide, doesn't explicitly talk about an export from Oracle 9i imported into Oracle 10g.
Can you point me to a guide or Note?
    Regards,
    Vishnu

  • Exp/Imp In Oracle 10g client

    Hi All,
I want to take one schema export from Oracle 10g Client. I am in new Oracle 10g.
In oracle 9i, we can using exp/imp command for Export and Import from Client itself.
I heard about in Oracle 10g, we can use Expdb/Impdb in Server only. Is there any possibility to take exp/imp in Client also.
    Pls help me...
    Cheers,
    Moorthy.GS

To add up to expdb from oracle client
    NETWORK_LINK
    Default: none
    Purpose
Enables an export from a (source) database identified by a valid database link. The data from the source database instance is written to a dump file set on the connected database instance.
    Syntax and Description
    NETWORK_LINK=source_database_link
The NETWORK_LINK parameter initiates an export using a database link. This means that the system to which the expdp client is connected contacts the source database referenced by the source_database_link, retrieves data from it, and writes the data to a dump file set back on the connected system.
The source_database_link provided must be the name of a database link to an available database. If the database on that instance does not already have a database link, you or your DBA must create one. For more information about the CREATE DATABASE LINK statement, see Oracle Database SQL Reference.
If the source database is read-only, then the user on the source database must have a locally managed tablespace assigned as the default temporary tablespace. Otherwise, the job will fail. For further details about this, see the information about creating locally managed temporary tablespaces in the Oracle Database Administrator's Guide.
    Restrictions
When the NETWORK_LINK parameter is used in conjunction with the TABLES parameter, only whole tables can be exported (not partitions of tables).
The only types of database links supported by Data Pump Export are: public, fixed-user, and connected-user. Current-user database links are not supported.
    Example
The following is an example of using the NETWORK_LINK parameter. The source_database_link would be replaced with the name of a valid database link that must already exist.
    expdp hr/hr DIRECTORY=dpump_dir1 NETWORK_LINK=source_database_linkDUMPFILE=network_export.dmp LOGFILE=network_export.log

    Whats could be the reason?

There could be a few reasons causing the problem. From literal message it would look like your shared pool size is small and you need to increase. But the root cause of the problem is a little more complicated than that. I suggest you read metalink doc

  • Importing a few Oracle 10g schemas into oracle 11g database

    Hi,
I have the task to import a few schemas that are on oracle 10g database (10.2.0.4) into oracle 11gR2 database (11.2.0.2). Now I have only oracle 10g export and import utility (the 11g server is in not where I am given the import rights).
Can I do the export of the 10g schemas using the 10g export utility and then import into 11g database using the 10g import utility? I ran a test to do that and found it works but would also like to have expert opinion on it.
Also another question is: if the source schema is 11g - suppose- in that case can the 10g export/import utility still work? I mean export the schema from say db1 (which is 11g) using 10g export utility and import them into 11g database db2 (which is again 11g) using 10g import? I am asking because I don't have access to 11g server and trying to find what I can do with the 10g utilities.
    Thanks,

set up a database link to the 10gR2 version database in the 11gR2 database.
Now using the 11gR2 client impdp utility use
    impdp network_link=<link to 10gR2 database>
    Done.
Your 'objection' you don't have access to 11gR2 doesn't count as you can install a 11gR2 client.
Also generally speaking you should not use a lower version imp to imp to a higher version database
Also exp and imp are deprecated in 10g and higher.

  • Help In XML schema using  oracle 10g

i want to give seminar in XML schema using oracle 10g. n i m very new in this topic. so help me out which topic i include & any document regarding this

    XML Schema has various aspects.
    1. Creating an XML Schema, which may be done in JDeveloper.
    2. Initializing an XML document from an XML Schema, which may also be done in JDeveloper.

  • How to export oracle 10g data into parts (in excel or csv or txt)

is there any methods to export the data from oracle 10g in the form of excel or csc or txt. i already downloaded the sql developer tool but it only exports the data of upto one lakh rows ,but i have two tables of more than 3 lakh and 10 lakh rows respectively.for this i used where command to break the file through sql developer but that didnt work
plz help me out if any thing possible
i need to again import this data into microsoft sql if there is any direct method plz let me know

I wrote my own pl/sql tool to make csv upload/download tool, but the learning process is a bit painful and long, especially for beginner like me (end up using dynamic sql package because we pass in table name as parameter).
For your purpose, maybe the best way is to download a plug-in for Excel that can connect to your Oracle DB. There are many such products so you need to google around. For me, no need right now.
Another option is to use a commercial tool like Toad, or other products from same company.

  • XML SCHEMA registration for XML TYPE (storing XML files in Oracle 10g)

I have created the XML Schema for the XML file stored in Oracle 10g and also added this Schema into the database. I have related that schema with the column in the table which contains the XML file. When i execute the query to fetch the data from the stored file i am getting a blank resultset. Is registering the XML Schema is necessary, if yes then please let me know the process of doing it. I have tried following steps to register Schema, but it is not working
    Step1:
    DECLARE

    v_return := dbms_xdb.createFolder('/home/DEV/');

Can anyone provide a SQl query to create a
