Export Selection Video Juddery?

Hello, i am very new to motion and i am currently working my way through chapter 2 of my Apple Pro Training book on Motion 3. Very much enjoying the lessons, a few paragraphs i am not quite sure of but i am sure i will get it later. Anyway, i got to a section on 'Baking' which basically frees up your CPU, followed the book which told me to highlight some layers, file export selection, select import into project then done. But the video that was exported back into the project was very juddery, i even went to the desktop to check the quicktime file that was saved & that was juddering all over the shop also. I also deleted the file & started again but the same. Any ideas or am i panicking over nothing. Cheers, Daz

OK, open up the movie in QT Player and export it in h.264 with best settings and then see if that is jittery.
If that is also jittery, it has something to do with the export settings you are using in Motion and I would look at those output settings' FPS.
If it's not jittery, your Animation codec movie's bandwidth is too big for your system and it's only a playback issue, which means you can go ahead and use it in Motion and when you export out your final movie it will be fine. If you can't live with that, bake it again and try a difference codec, like Apple Intermediate or ProRes or see if h.264 at highest settings is good enough.
One of the best ways to bog down Motion is to have layers/objects that are no longer on the screen, but are extended out in the timeline and are underneath the stuff on top. To Motion, that stuff is still there and it gets unresponsive, especially with images that have large dimensions. So make sure you clean up your timeline and trim the duration of each layer and object to only when they are on screen.

Simply, sharing video via email is not advisable.
Many email services have an attachment limit of 20mb and some a limit of 10mb. As emails are sent through an array of relays, the effective limit is the smallest file size allowed on any of the relays.  That means that video is rarely suitable for emailing.
Then there's the whole issue of Codecs and not all machines will have the codecs to play all videos. Plus, folks with slower connections can find it very inconvenient to download large video files.
Finally, sharing video from iPhoto via email is not supported. All that gets you is the Movie thumbnail. If you feel you must share via email then you'll need to export the video first, and attach that. Use the File -> Export command and set the kind  to Original.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
Other than that your options include:
Upload it to a sharing site like YouTube or Vimeo and email a link - these will allow the recipient to view the material online. That will avoid the codec issues mentions, and the person can still download the video file if they wish.
Upload it to sharing services like Dropbox or YouSendIt and email a link. This will require that they download the material to their machines to view.

  • How do I export a video without a heavy blue cast

I use imovie 3. I can download and edit my movies. The finished product looks good on the computer. However, when I export, the video has a very heavy blue cast even when viewing on the computer. But, if I export as an email or web file then the colour is ok but the quality is poor. I would like to copy some of my videos on to cd's with correct colours. Any ideas??

You can only export in the same resolution that you imported.
That is if you shot in 720p you cannot export in 1080p.
Share > YouTube and select the highest resolution available.

  • I can't export uncompressed videos

I'm trying to export my videos as uncompressed AVIs so I can compress them on a seperate encoder, H.264, so I can put them on youtube and retain high quality videos.  However, every time I try to do this, once it's finished exporting, I click the video to test it and I only get the audio.  I doesn't matter how big or small the video is or what's on it, whenever I try to export an uncompressed video, I lose the actual video in the process.
So is there a way to fix this? Or if not, is there a way I can export the video without the enormous loss in quality I get whenever I do an AVI export? Thanks

sorry I wasn't being very specific.  When I said uncompressed AVI, I mean the videos were orignially AVIs and I simply wanted them to be returned as the raw footage but in the reorganized, edited form I put them in.  Like rearanging the videos without having to encode them again and deal with the loss of quality.  Virtual Dub does this but it's harder to work with and more limited than premiere pro.
Still not specific enough. There are two ways of exporting an uncompressed AVI from Premiere Pro: you can set the Format as Uncompressed Microsoft AVI (which you shouldn't; that's only for AJA hardware), or you can set the Format to Microsoft AVI, and then select "None" from the codec dropdown. It's the latter than you want to do.
You might want to look into the Lagarith Lossless Video Codec or the Ut Video Codec Suite; both are free visually lossless codecs that will be smaller than uncompressed. They'll appear as codec options under Microsoft AVI. Lagarith installs both x86 and x64 (required for CS5) versions; for Ut, you need to install both the 32-bit and 64-bit packages.

  • Adobe Media Encoder: Audio won't export with video

I am trying to convert an AVCHD video for viewing on my iPad 3. I use Adobe Media Encoder and select the iPad 2 settings (1920x1080) and it exports the video perfect, but no audio. I have "Export Audio" checked off. I tried it with 5 other settings and it just wont include the audio. Any ideas?

Seems random people are running in to this, so hopefully this solution will be found by whomever's looking.
If you're exporting video files from Final Cut Pro as .mov, and then trying to convert said .mov to an .mp4 using Adobe Media Encoder and are losing audio even though you're multiplexing, try this...
Make sure that you export only a 2-channel audio track from FCP.   When I export from FCP, I split my audio into various tracks by default.  Great for making master clips, but problematic if uploading to YouTube or doing further encoding in Adobe Media Encoder.   Like YouTube, if you have more than 2 tracks of audio, Media Encoder seems to get confused and ignores all audio tracks.  Combine all audio into a 2-channel stereo track and see if that solves the problem.
Regardless of editing program, see if reducing number of audio channels from source clip solves problem.

  • Can't Export Any Videos From Final Cut Pro X?

    Hello all-
I just downloaded FInal Cut Pro X today, and as I tried exporting my first video to YouTube, I found I had no luck. I am able to select the option to export to YouTube, enter in my account details, edit the video preferences, but when I click submit nothing happens. The little export box just disappears. This happens for every single one of my share options.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I'm a little peeved that I just spent 300 dollars on a software that doesn't even let me export the video.
    Thanks much,
    Megan

  • Exporting HD Video From Final Cut Express HD

When attempting to export HD video from Final Cut Express using "uncompressed" setting, I notice that the output quality seems to be limited to "medium." If no compression is used, wouldn't that imply that the video quality should equal original footage?

All FCE Timelines are using the AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec) for HD stuff if you selected the correct Easy Setup before you started your Project.
If you export as a Quicktime Movie then you are getting exactly the same export quality as the Timeline.
The Quicktime Movie can be either Self-Contained or a Reference file. Reference Files are great because they use/reference you exisating captured files on your Scratch Disc, use less space and export fast.
However if you need to play the export somewhere other than your Mac your will require the file to be Self-Contained.
QuickTime Conversion does just that, Converts to whatever you select.

  • Help - i recently made put together a high quality movie for a relative, it has taken me months to complete and it goes for a total of 9 hours and 43 minutes ,however, it won't let me export the video at all! please help - its taken ages to make it!

Help - i recently made put together a high quality movie for a relative, it has taken me months to complete and it goes for a total of 9 hours and 43 minutes ,however, it won't let me export the video at all! please help - its taken ages to make it!

    9 hours??!
Twice the length of a cinema epic?
How are you expecting to distribute it?
    iDVD encoding settings:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/11417.html
    Short version:
Best Performance is for videos of up to 60 minutes
Best Quality is for videos of up to 120 minutes
Professional Quality is also for up to 120 minutes but even higher quality (and takes much longer)
That was for single-layer DVDs. Double these numbers for dual-layer DVDs.
Professional Quality: The Professional Quality option uses advanced technology to encode your video, resulting in the best quality of video possible on your burned DVD. You can select this option regardless of your project’s duration (up to 2 hours of video for a single-layer disc and 4 hours for a double-layer disc). Because Professional Quality encoding is time-consuming (requiring about twice as much time to encode a project as the High Quality option, for example) choose it only if you are not concerned abo
In both cases the maximum length includes titles, transitions and effects etc. Allow about 15 minutes for these.
You can use the amount of video in your project as a rough determination of which method to choose. If your project has an hour or less of video (for a single-layer disc), choose Best Performance. If it has between 1 and 2 hours of video (for a single-layer disc), choose High Quality. If you want the best possible encoding quality for projects that are up to 2 hours (for a single-layer disc), choose Professional Quality. This option takes about twice as long as the High Quality option, so select it only if time is not an issue for you.
Use the Capacity meter in the Project Info window (choose Project > Project Info) to determine how many minutes of video your project contains.
NOTE: With the Best Performance setting, you can turn background encoding off by choosing Advanced > “Encode in Background.” The checkmark is removed to show it’s no longer selected. Turning off background encoding can help performance if your system seems sluggish.
And whilst checking these settings in iDVD Preferences, make sure that the settings for NTSC/PAL and DV/DV Widescreen are also what you want.

Tesselator Tess: Which department would be relevant to my issue?
Dilip: We do not have Support for Trial version, Support for Trial is only available in Support Portal.
Tesselator Tess: I'm not asking for support for the trial version at this point. I am asking for a department name.
Dilip: I am sorry, there is no Team that supports for Trial.
Tesselator Tess: How about for the purchased product?
Dilip: The Support for the Issue is available with our Photoshop Team but they can only help you with a valid Photoshop Serial Number.
Tesselator Tess: Is there a list of known issues on-line somewhere?
Tesselator Tess: there isn't at the two URLs you already provided BTW.
Dilip: I am sorry we do not have more information on that.
Tesselator Tess: OK, thanks. Do you realize that in the time it took to tell me "Sorry Charlie” 5 times you could have told me of a fix or looked in your DB for related issues?
    Tesselator Tess:
Dilip: I am sorry for the inconvenience.
    Tesselator Tess: Me too.
Dilip: Do you have any other questions for me?
Tesselator Tess: No, just those two.
Dilip: Thank you for contacting Adobe. Good Bye.
    This chat session has ended.

Is the trial version of Photoshop CC a function-limited (cripled) eddition or is it the full-featured version same as the purchased product? I had always thought they were the full versions but I thought I might check to make sure.

Got the phone direct from the Apple website, so I assume it was unlocked, and it had been on giffgaff ever since but I don't see why that's a problem?
The carrier was automatically selected as Free and is up to date.
There seemed to be no problem that the SIM was being used in an iPhone 4 and my friends in exactly the same situation (e.g. arriving in France and moving over to the Free network with iPhone 4's) have had zero problems with their 3G network; it just seems to be me.
The Free Mobile Network is included on this list which I guess means that they are Apple-approved? iPhone: Wireless carrier support and features
How do I find out whether or not I would need to manually configure an APN? I'm not even sure I know what that is.

how do i export a video made in imovie to youtube in the best quality possible?

  • Lots of problems when exporting widescreen video

I've had similar problems to this before, but for now I'll just describe my current situation.
I shot a bunch of green screen footage in HD using a Canon XH-A1. I captured at 1080p in a 1080p HDV sequence. Everything was shot 16x9 HD using the camera's default HDV settings. I did add matte bars to give the film an artificial 2.35:1 look, though.
I had no problems with the edit at all, but when I attempt to export the video for both DVD and H264 for YouTube, it all gets crazy.
The first noticeable problem is that Premiere keeps cropping the sides of my image. If you switch from 'source' to 'output' in the preview pane you can see that portions of the image on the sides are missing. If I use a 1080p preset it looks like nothing is cropped, but for YouTube I need to do 1280x720 w/ square pixels, and for DVD I need to do 720x480 and with either of these options selected, the cropping begins.
So, my first question is, WTF is up with this cropping???
Another problem I'm having is that when I finally get the image to fill the entire 16x9 frame (through various tweaks in the many different presets - I'm not entirely sure what all I did), layers are arbitrarily moved around and thereofore placed out of sync with where they should be in my composites. Also, I always nest my final edit's sequence into another sequence so that I can crop the image to match the 2.35:1 bars (if you don't do this there's always a tiny little bit of the image underneath your matte bars that shows through when you project it).
    Wtf?
    Here are some visual aides:
Premiere cropping the sides on WS output:
    http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/3769/ppcs4wsoutputcropping.jpg
Premiere moving placement of layers in composite when outputted:
    http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/1182/ppcs4wsoutputlayersmess.jpg
    Anybody know what's up?
    Thanks!

Well, I've figured out a work-around for now...
It seems that PPro is having trouble nesting a 1080p sequence inside a 720p sequence and/or outputting a 1080p sequence to to anything other than full 1080p or 720p with anamorphic pixels at 960x720 (instead of 1280x720). I don't get it, but I found a way to get what I need... it just takes a while.
I was able to export my film to 720p H264 with anamorphic pixels. I then made a new project with a 720p sequence setting and dropped in my newly encoded 720p video. With the new project I was able to export the 720p video to any format I wanted without any of these cropping issues.
I'd still love to know what causes this.

  • Exporting camera videos to YouTube from iPhoto

So like all modern digital still cameras, mine takes HD video too. And iPhoto downloads both the videos and photos into my iPhoto albums. How can I export the videos directly to YouTube? Is there a YouTube uploader plug-in?
Having to use iMovie is a lot of extra steps.

No there is no YouTube plug-in.
Select the movie in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. Set to *Kind: Oriinal* and export the movie to the desktop. Upload to from there.

When iMovie doesn't work as intended this can be due to a lot of reasons
    • iMovie Pref files got corrupted - trash it/they and iMovie makes new and error free one's
    • Creating a new User-Account and log into this - forces iMovie to create all pref. files new and error free
    • Event or Project got corrupted - try to make a copy and repair
    • a codec is used that doesn't work
    • problem in iMovie Cache folder - trash Cache.mov and Cache.plist
    • version miss match of QuickTime Player / iMovie / iDVD
    • preferences are wrong - Repair Preferences
    • other hard disk problem - Repair Hard Disk (Disk Util tool - but start Mac from ext HD or DVD)

    • Run "Cache Out X", clear out all caches and restarts the Mac
    • Let Your Mac be turned on during one night. At about midnight there is a set of maintenance programs that runs and tidying up. This might help
    • Turn off Your Mac - and disconnect Mains - for about 20-30 minutes - at least this resets the FireWire port.
    • In QuickTime - DivX, 3ivx codec, Flip4Mac, Perian etc - might be problematic - temporarily move them out and re-try
(I deleted the file "3ivxVideoCodec.component" located in Mac HD/Library/Quicktime and this resolved my issue.)
