Export so podcast will play on CD or be in WAV format

I am doing recordings on a tascam portable digital recorder in WAV format, and then editing in the podcast part of GarageBand. However, once I have the editing completed, I need to export the project so it remains in WAV format and so that it will play as "music" on a regular CD player, once I burn it to CD. Currently, I export it, it goes to iTunes, and becomes an Mp3 or M4a. I need this to play with the best possible quality on a regular CD player. How do I do this? What am I doing wrong? HELP please!

GB does not export WAVs (though you could convert to one, it's not needed because...)
and so that it will play as "music" on a regular CD player
regular CD players do not play WAV files, they play AIFFs, which are created automatically when you burn an audio CD from either within GB, or from iTunes

  • Best way to export from iMovie so that clip will play in Powerpoint on Windows?

Does anyone know the best settings so that a movie exported from iMovie will play in Powerpoint on a Windows machine?  Thanks.

You need one of the more expenseive Flip4Mac options. Flip4Mac Studio, Studio Pro, Studio Pro HD, for example.
Flip4Mac supplies a video component. To do the conversion, you need a tool like QuickTime Pro or Compressor. You take the file you created in iMovie and convert it using QuickTime Pro using the supplied component.
It is possible that a free tool like MPEG Streamclip would do the conversion (after purchasing the Flip4Mac components) but I haven't tried it personally.
You cannot do this conversion from within iMovie. You need to SHARE from iMovie, then convert.

  • Podcast will not show in Safari???

I''m on an iMac dualcore... 1mb ram
    10.4.8 OS
    Safari 2.0.4
    ITunes 7.0.2
    Quick time 7.1.3
This maybe should be posted in another forum but here I am. 8D
I can't seem to get any podcast to work... all i ever get is the
Q graphic. I can play m4v files in Itunes no problem but not through Safari off the web.
Is there some settings somewhere I'm missing ... I've looked in Itunes, Q time and Safari but nothing seems to jump at me as a settings problem.
I'm experiencing the same problem with some eMacs as well.
I have some machines that seem to work fine but others????
I don't have a clue... being new to Mac ...
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I discovered that if we bypass our proxy for our local web server address the podcast will play in safari. We can't play a podcast from an outside source.
It's my opinion that apple needs to look into the problem.
I have no problem playing podcast on winows os local or outside. I'm not sure where the porblem is ... ISA not working with Safari or Safari not working with ISA or who knows what????
I do know that Firefox doesn't seem to have a problem with playing podcast through our ISA server... windows or mac os.
This is turning from a some machines it works others it doesn't they all seem to be affected like this for me... the machines that were working, were bypassing the proxy and playing the local podcast (which is how we discovered the bypass fix) .... I need both local and outside to work.
We are again considering dropping Safari and going with Firefox... I'm currently trying to be sure there are no reasons NOT to do this..... I have 800+ users here ... and little time to work on this.... got a mess on my hands atm.
So we are currently working a single user images for logging into the various Macs, with a script after log in to set up user rights and home folders on the network etc...

  • Podcast not playing in browser

    Hello,
It seems I am not alone in this predicament.
    Specs:
    Server 10.7.2/XeonQuad2.8/8Gig RAM
My podcasts will show up in the podcast wiki list, but when clicked on, will not display video. Both Mac or PC, using Chrome. Firefox, Safari or IE9.  On the Windows side it will display a QuickTime logo in the play window, on a Mac the play window is gray, waited for 5 minutes but doesn't load.
Interestingly enough the podcasts will play on the server itself, Firefox only not Safari, someone explain that one?...
I have successfully deployed a workflow (PodCast Composer) which is supposed to:
    write to a folder
    publish to the library
    publish to a wiki
So far it does nothing but add it to the wiki.
I have used Podcast Capture and PodCast Publisher to publish podcasts.  My user is the admin user and I have tried a non-admin user as well.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

I am having the same issue. Podcasts are veiwable in the Podcasts section of the Wiki by the selected group in server.app (Anyone, Authorized Users, Podcast Owners) however they will only play via the browser if the "Anyone" group is selected in server.app. Even the Administrator account cannot access the play the contant in a web browser when anything other than the "Anyone" group is selected in server.app.
Another correlation I have noticed with this issue is that the rss feed will become disabled (exclimation point next to the heading) when access in server.app is set to anything other than "Anyone".
Frustrating as we would like to open the service up to be accessible remotely without the use of VPN but with sensitive content in our podcasts we cannot currently limit access to authorized users or groups.
Is this a misconfiguration problem or a bug? I know of many instituations and companies that depend heavily on the Podcast features of OS X server and this seems like a substantial problam.
    Configuration:
Homgeneous environment with 10.7.4 Server with 10.7.4 clients
DNS and Open DIrectory hosted on the same hardware as the podcast server.

  • Two different podcasts venues onto my iPod shuffle but only one will play.

I download two differnt podcast venues onto my iPod shuffle, yet the shuffle will play only one of them, looping the first to the last. If I delete that all the programs of that podcast -then the other podcast programs will play-yet there seems no way to advance, attach or mix them.  How do I correct this?

  • Podcasts in both iPhone and iPad will play for a minute and then reset back to the beginning, can only stream, cannot download - no problem on PC laptop with exact same Podcasts with exact same internet set up.  What is the fix?

This is incredibly frustrating - we had a IPhone 4s that had no problems here for about 7 monts.  We have a new IPhone 4s and recently a new IPad 2.  Ever since the mandatory switch to using the Podcasts App for iOS based products (my PC laptop works fine), the podcasts will say "cannot be downloaded at this time" and will stream for 30 seconds to a few minutes, then abruptly start over at the beginning. We cannot fast forward ahead properly in the new clunky interface, and the secondary screen where you get to see the "tape player" going through podcast does not skip when you move the timer icon anywhere in the podcast.  It is though they are running in parallel.
We are talking podcasts by the BBC, NPR, etc and the Lenovo doesn't have any issues bc the whole system is inside ITunes.
I have looked all over the internet and cannot find a fix, please help.

    Hi jhyiesla,
Im not sure wether I got you right or not. But my advice/s would be as follows:
These steps help you get rid of old apps you downloaded years ago and you do not use anymore.(Also frees space on your mac after emptying the trash)
    1) go to iTunes and delete all applications in it. Make sure to move them to trash! Do not empty your trash yet. Its your backup if step 3 doesnt appear.
    2) connect both your devices(one after each other) and make a backup. !!!Dont press the Sync button, press the Back Up Now Button
    3) Then it asks you if you want to backup applications as well. Confirm. (This is how apps get transferred manually)
    4) Then Sync your devices... The first time it might be, that there are some additional apps loaded to your devices you dont want to.. delete them on your Device (not iTunes) and after that you should be good every time you sync again.
    5) now you can empty your trash on your mac.
    Further,
    - You should regularly connect your devices with iTunes to make sure they are backed up. (Even if you have activated iCloud backup, the iTunes backup is more proper i.e.. Apps)
    - If you hate scrolling through a list of apps in iTunes, you can re/install apps directly on iOS not via iTunes. I absolutely never go to the "Applications" section in iTunes. I install and delete apps directly on iOS.

  • Podcast Will Not Play in Browser After Uploaded Through Fetch

I'm using iWeb '08 to create my website and I have a Podcast section on this site. However, I cannot get my Podcast to play on the website after it is uploaded using Fetch. The Podcast works fine when integrated in the website and viewing it through iWeb. However, when I am actually online, it appears as a Quicktime logo with a question mark on it.
Here is the process I am going through:
    1) Create Podcast in Garageband '08
    2) Share with iWeb '08
    3) Save and Publish to a Folder
    4) Upload all website folders to the web using Fetch (the most recent version)
So far, I have also tried sharing the Podcast with iTunes and then placing it on the iWeb page as a mp4 file. I've also tried placing it as a .mov file and a .mp3 file with no avail.
How can I get this thing to play on the internet? Any advice you all may have would be greatly appreciated!

Surely the server wouldn't block these file extensions, too.
Would not hurt to ask them what all they do block.
    Any other suggestions?
You'll need to provide your url so people can see what is happening.

  • Exporting Enhanced Podcast

Using GB 08 to create enhanced podcast with embedded jpeg files of PowerPoint presentation. Completed the episode and exported using export to iTunes but it only appears in iTunes as a AAC music files no images appear. I tried exporting to disk and adding to the iTunes library with same result.
The files will play and display images correctly using Quicktime but not iTunes. I also tried exporting to iWeb, hoping I could pull the converted file from there to upload into iTunes but no luck.
So what gives?! I've mixed results when using GarageBand to create podcasts and starting to think I should just stick to using iMovie to do this.
    Thanks
    Jerry

... it only appears in iTunes as a AAC music files no images appear.
Enhanced podcasts do appear as music files in iTunes. How the images are displayed depends on your iTunes settings. In my settings, for example, the image appears in that little window below the playlists, and if I close that window, I don't see anything at all. Maybe you have done that?

  • Why do some podcasts stop playing & how do I fix it?

    Hi.
I seem to have a bug with some of my podcasts. I subscribe to a few and I've noticed that sometimes there will be a "bug" in a particular episode which means it just stops playing at a particular point in the item - this can be at the beginning, middle or towards the end. At first, I thought it was only related to some of the more "amateur" podcasts I subscribed to. But now, I've noticed that it is also happening with a high quality series I subscribe to. It doesn't happen on every episode/file; eg, two will be faulty and then the next two will play fine.
Any ideas on what could be causing this bug and how to overcome it?
    thanks
    Sean
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Yes and no. I just got my wife a Nano, but before that I was the only user and account. Yes, I run as admin occasionally - had the same results either way.
I changed all the type tags for the items in my library (and then deleted them for good measure - I drag and drop, not sync, so my library isn't that important anyway). I'll give this a try and see if it works. I guess time will tell.
Thanks for the idea of checking the Type tag!! I wasn't aware of that. It gives me some things to experiment with.
    Thx! S

  • Is it possible to create a DVD of photos that will play on a television?

Is it possible to create a DVD of photos from iPhoto that will play on a television?

Yes.  You'll need a video DVD authoring application like iDVD and an external optical drive. I suggest a 3rd party optical drive as the Apple Superdrive is limited to USB 2 which has rather slow through put.  Get one with USB 3 or FW.
Export a slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.  Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Or open iDVD, select a theme, create a slideshow in iDVD and add the photos from iPhoto via the Media Browser in iDVD.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
There are simpler (in features) video DVD authoring applications available from the App Store.

  • How do you export a podcast series?

Is there a way to burn to CD or export a Podcast series? In other words, I have a podcast I subscribe to with several sessions. How can I burn the entire series to a CD, or export it? I want to transfer a podcast series to my desktop to put on my iPod or archive.
If I transfer the individual files, there is no way I can find to get iTunes to recognize the podcast. it'll play them, but it won't put them in the appropriate podcast playlist. It also won't copy the playlist information.
For example, my Ebert & Roeper has the movie reviews for the month of September. Each Review has the week name in the Podcast, and a complete description. How do I transfer this intact to another computer?
    Thanks.

Hi aandd, you buy the series and seasons from iTunes and itunes stores the fact you have purchased them in your account.  You can then stream them through apple tv whenever and how often you want.

  • Will play count and playhead position sync back to iTunes?

I have a bunch of smart playlists that contain all the unplayed episodes of my favorite podcasts. If I drag these onto the Shuffle, will the play count and playhead position from my Shuffle sync back to iTunes?
It seems like the answer is no -- this is really a one-way copy to the Shuffle, and not a "sync".

The iPod shuffle is supposed to maintain a "played" flag for played tracks. I don't know if podcasts will work the same way as normal tracks, but I can't think of a good reason why they wouldn't. Having said that, after the iTunes 8.1 update, my shuffle's marking the wrong tracks as "played" and leaving the actually played tracks unmarked, so until the iTunes team comes up with a fix for all the bugs they introduced in that update, anything goes.

  • Podcasts will not sync to Classic

I'm at a complete and utter loss.
One day updated podcasts stopped syncing to my iPod Classic.  I've done everything I can think of, google searches, asking friends and can't come up with a solution.
    Here's what I've tried:
    -Checked my anti-virus software
    -Rebooted
    -Restored
    -Uninstalled/Reinstalled iTunes
    -Used a different USB port
    -Used a different connector
-Tried different settings on iTunes, including selecting manual syncing.
I don't know if this problem is hardware vs. software.  Right now here's what's happening.  After one of the restores, I deleted all of my podcasts and resubscribed to see if that would help...it didn't.  I can download audio and video podcasts onto iTunes, when I connect my iPod it indicates that it's syncing but my iPod states "no podcasts".  I'm not sure if perhaps the podcasts are in a different folder under My Music, but last I checked the podcasts were in the Music>Podcast folder.
I don't know if I'm missing some vital step but I'm literally losing my mind trying to figure out what's happened and would love any/all suggestions.
One other thing.  I ran the Sync Diagnostic on iTunes and it said that no iPod could be found.  This is strange because when I do my restore, all of my old music library syncs, just nothing new.

Ah! That explains a lot, Video Podcasts are a mystery on the Classic!
Do you get any messages when you Sync these Podcasts? Some video Podcasts will not play on the iPod Classic and therefore they don't get transferred to the iPod. However, in that situation, I would expect you to see a message telling you something like "Some Podcasts were not transferred to the iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod."
You can't miss the message, so if you don't see it, the Podcasts must be on the iPod somewhere. However, I've noticed that video Podcasts can be almost anywhere on the iPod Classic, not sure why.
For instance, I have video Podcasts from different providers which are all in the iTunes U section in the iTunes library - even though they are not "educational." But, on the iPod, some of them are in the iTunes U section, while others are in the Music section. And guess what? The search facility does not find items in iTunes U! I have inspected the videos in iTunes but I'm unable to see why they should be in different sections of the iPod.
So, first of all, where are these videos in the iTunes library; Podcasts or iTunes U? This may give you a starter about where they are on the iPod and look (obviously) in the iTunes U on the iPod.
If you can't find them in iTunes U, try looking in the Video Playlists. Note, Video Playlists is separate from Playlists, so if necessary, place Video Playlists on your Main Menu. Even then, in the Video Playlists, all is not simple. Also on my Main Menu is Videos/Movies and some of my rogue video Podcasts are in there!
    Example:
    in the iTunes Library;
    Library/iTunes U/History 106B
    Library/iTunes U/Shulton: Old Spice (adverts)
both in the same section, next to each other.
Start from iPod Classic - Main Menu:
    Videos/Movies/Shulton: Old Spice (- only)
    Videos/Video Playlists/iTunes U/Shulton: Old Spice (- only)
    Video Playlists/iTunes U/Shulton Old Spice (- only)
    Playlists/iTunes U/History 106B (-only)
    Spot the difference?
So in other words, I cannot find these Podcasts all in one place on the iPod - to put it another way - iTunes U in one section has Old Spice but not History, and iTunes U in another section has the History but not the Old Spice! I could go on, the History appears under some, but not all of the Music Menu subsections while the Old Spice is not on the Music Menu at all!
It's mind numbing! It's one area where Apple doesn't appear to have got it right and unfortunately, I don't think that it will ever be sorted out. Often, this issue can be as a result of how the Podcast producer tags their videos, which may explain why the problem has just started. But how anyone sorts that out is beyond me too because different models of iPod act in different ways.
So have a good look through your iPod for the missing episodes, good luck, let us know how you get on, do you find them?
    Phil
P.S. On my Videos/Music Videos menu header, the iPod states "No Videos" but when I look in there, I find two videos! ??

  • Making iDVD that will play on Windows machines

Okay I need help. I've made an iDVD movie and it will play fine on all my mac's. However, I can't get it to play on Windows machines which most of the folks I will be sending the dvd to have.
What am I not doing? I created the movie in iMovie and exported it to my movies folder. I then opened it from iDVD and then saved it as a disc image. I then burned that to a dvd.

The DVD will play on my standard DVD player but when I load it in my Windows 7 machine it does nothing. I'm stumped why it won't load.
Since some of the folks getting the DVD will try to load with a Windows machine I need to get this figured out. Any idea's out there?

  • Podcasts will not sync

between iPod touch and computer and I have no acess to podcasts on iPod. Any help welcome !

I experienced similar problems. I can get audio podcasts from the Store into my mac iTunes just fine; they show up in the library and they play on mac. But some don't sync into the iPod. Every time I try, iTunes tells me "sync is complete", but these podcasts are never sent to the iPod. Even more frustrating: lots of other podcasts sync just fine.
I fixed the problem by doing the following. In iTunes podcasts window, control-click on a failing podcast name. Then select "Create AAC Version" from the popup menu. The podcast will sync into iPod next time.
If I have multiple podcasts under a series name, I can fix all at once. Just control-click the series name, then select "Create AAC Version" from the popup. The entire series will be converted and will sync into iPod next time.
Hope this helps anyone else experiencing same problem.
    Technical notes:
I noticed the sync-failed audio podcasts were filetype MPEG. However, all previously synced podcasts were type AAC. Apparently, iPod will handle AAC audio, not MPEG. When I created the AAC versions per podcast, iTunes found the new AAC files and was able to sync them into iPod next time.
In my opinion this discrepancy should generate a warning at the time of sync failure. The user should be prompted to "create AACs" or "ignore podcasts".
