Export sort order

Hi,
Any ideas on the following?
I have 2 cameras which I sometimes use at the same time, both cameras are time sync'd when I do this. I've imported the images into Lightroom and then sorted the images to capture date and time, this way the images are all in the correct chronological order.
However, when I export them they revert back to the filename order, which is not the way I want them.
Is there a way to export in the capture date and time order, without renaming the files?
Cheers
Owin

If you want your files to order in the file explorer (or equivalent on a Mac), you can name them to do so, such as by date/time if you want chronological order. Or put a sequence number before whatever you want the name to be (filename or title or caption or whatever).

  • Sort Order issue when exporting from DRM

The sort order hierarchy (Parent/Child) in DRM is correct, and appears in the right order. When the hierarchy gets exported, some of the nodes are out of order in HFM.
There are shared nodes in the hierarchy. There is a Custom Sort order that is set correctly for the hierarchy in DRM.There is also a Query that was created to export nodes that does not contain the word Shared.
    Ex
    DRM
    Parent 1
    Child 2700
    Child 2701
    Appears in HFM
    Parent 1
    Child 2701
    Child 2700
The sort order is not correct in Smartview. Why would the nodes show correctly in DRM, but export out of order, and not show correctly in HFM?
Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Can you evaluate the DRM export results with the Hiearchy structure, also make sure the Default Hierarchy Sort on the Hierarchy has a value assigned to it, whether it is core or custom based on node ID, DRM should export nodes as they appear in DRM.

  • Exporting from Lightroom 1.3: Different sort order than defined in Grid view

Just did an export from Lightroom 1.3 and ended up with a the wrong export order.
    Here is what I did.
    1. Create a collection
    2. Drag the pictures I want to export into that collection
    3. Select: Sort: Import order (In lightroom grid view - the sort order was correct)
    4. Export from Lightroom with "Userdefined name - sequence"
The result is a total different sort order than I can see in the Lightroom Grid view.
    Very annoying.
    Any ideas?
Also - in the new export dialog there seems to be no option anymore to CHANGE a user-defined export like in the previous version. What do you do if you want to change something?
    Overwrite with the same name?
Remove old export and add the new one changed?

Are you seeing this only in Lightroom? They are not 'still in the parent, Germany folder.' only visible their if you have 'Include Photos from Subitems' checked in the Menu/Library of Library.
Uncheck that you you will only see them in their correct folders.

  • How do I get Iphoto to preserve the sort order when I transfer an album?

Here's my problem. I carefully sorted my album of 230 photos manually. Each photo was then numbered from 1 to 230.   Then I used IPhoto Library Manager to transfer this album someplace else -- to my desktop, to a thumb drive, to Dropbox---   In every case, when I did that, the photos themselves transfered just fine,  but the sort order I had so carefully constructed has fallen apart and cannot by retrieved. Even  when I  close and then reopen an Album I have transferred to my Desktop, it loses its sort order.  This is driving my crazy  because I need to transfer this album so that it preserves the slideshow I have designed for it. A slideshow, of course, demands preserving the order of the slides.
In short, how can I preserve the sort order of an album when I transfer it out of one library to another?

If you're transferring to another library, why are you exporting to the Finder (which is what Desktop, thumbdrive and DropBox are). This doesn’t understand manual sorting from iPhoto.
Here's one (of several) way(s) to do what you want:
Make an Album of the photos, then drag the pics into your preferred order.
Then Photos Menu: Batch Change -> Set Title to Text "John's Birthday", for instance, and tick the box to append a number to each Photo. Now your photos are titled 'John's Birthday 001, John's Birthday 002 ... etc'
Then File -> Export and in the Export dialogue set the Filename to "Use Title"
Sort on Filename in the FInder and you end up with a folder full of images in the same order as the Album in iPhoto.

  • N9 Photo Gallery sort order - based on what?

    Hello,
I am thrilled with my N9, but have one problem: I want to use the phone to keep not only photos made with it. I therefore saved extra photos in the Pictures folder. They appear in the gallery, but in a weird order, not based on either the name, EXIF date, modification date or creation date. Is there a possibility to sort them on either of these? All I want is to control the sort order. After all, it is MY gallery...
On my previous phone (N8) sorting was based on the last modification date. Also not optimal (EXIF date would have been perfect) but still controllable.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, maybe those pictures were never edited outside the phone, I don't know.
Anyway, I believe I found the explanation: I exported the photos from Picasa, maxing them to a resolution of 1600xXXX. This way all files were created... today. Nevertheless the EXIF information is correctly saved by Picasa, so Date Image Taken was preserved. Although I modified in all files the creation date to be equal to EXIF Date Image Taken (ACDSee/batch/AdjustTimeStamp) , and then also renamed all pictures based on that, the "new" creation date still remains saved somewhere in the picture files and the Gallery sorts the pictures on it! The pictures were sorted in the reversed order I exported them from Picasa... Bad.
Anyway, since this is not a request forum, it would be futile to say (again) that Nokia should use the EXIF Date Picture Taken for picture sorting. So I don't say it (!).

  • Oracle 10G gives in sorted order without order by ,in 11g it is not.

we are facing a strange problem.
we have M Views on which we perform select operation ,we put joins of M Views and get the results by select operation , the results was in sorted order (asc) and we were not using any order by clause in the select query , this was in oracle 10G.
The compelte schema where these M views are and also the underneath tables are now migrated to oracle 11g using import/export option.
Now the queries which was giving the result set in sorted order (asc), are not given the result set in sorted order anymore. it is in different order but I think at always return the same order not asc or desc but an specific random order .
we can not change the query as of now as there are 1000+ and each query would require a order by statement .
Do we have any parameters which can be change , so that we can force oracle to use a different plan so that it gives result in order ?
the select queries are very simple ones not complicated no extra function or group by is used in most of the queries.
Please suggest possible solutions . Thanks much.

MOS Doc 345048.1 ('Group By' Does Not Guarantee a Sort Without Order By Clause In 10g and Above)
Go to http://support.oracle.com, log in to My Oracle Support, and search for 345048.1 If you don't have a My Oracle Support account, you'll need to contact whoever manages your company's Oracle support and ask them to create an account for you.
Basically, no version of Oracle has ever guaranteed the order of results if you don't specify an ORDER BY clause. In 10g, the only algorithm that was available to implement a GROUP BY happened to sort the results as a side effect. 11g introduced a new algorithm for grouping results that is more efficient and does not have the side effect of ordering the results. Most likely, your query plans have changed to use the more efficient grouping algorithm.
If you want the results to be sorted, you should add an appropriate ORDER BY clause. If you go through the MOS document, there will also be suggestions for ways that you can disable the new grouping algorithm though I would not recommend that.

  • Sort order on sync'd photos

I'm trying to get 400+ photos onto my iPad from iPhoto. I cannot use sync because it destroys the sort order I have established in iPhoto.  Have tried to sync, have tried to export to a folder. The folder export put the photos in the sort order I want but when I transfer to iPad - once again they are scrambled.  Photos that have names like pix-1, pix-2, ... appear all over the album.  Does anyone know how to keep the sort order when transferring (by any means) to the iPad?

What sort order do you have selecting in the sort drop-down?  There is no "correct" sort order.  You can sort on any metadata you can show in the Browser.  The sort drop-down is located in the top border of the Browser, near the left corner.  Every container in Aperture retains the sort order it last had.  When you manually move an Image in the Browser, the sort order is changed to "Manual".

  • Sort order in Library Module

I am having a problem in getting the sort order I want in Library module.  I originally imported JPEG files into a subfolder "Best Of".  I then returned to some of those photos (the RAW file) and developed them, then exported them as JPEG files to the same "best of" subfolder.  Although I have specified "capture date" as the sort criterion, the photos are displayed with the first batch of JPEG files in order shot, followed by the second batch of JPEG's that I developed, also in order shot.  As a result, all the developed files appear toward the end of the film strip, not in the actual order shot.  I would appreciate any tips.

I can't replicate this issue with my Lightroom 5.5 on Windows 7
However, if you don't mind me thinking out of the box, it seems like you are doing a lot of work to obtain a result that can be done much simpler, if you are willing to use a collection for this purpose. Simply drag the edited photo into a "Best Of" collection in Lightroom (no exporting needed), and you shouldn't have any trouble getting the proper sort order inside the collection. That's a lot less work than exporting! Saves disk space too! (And bvefore you object and say you have reasons why you need these in a folder for non-Lightroom purposes, that's easily solved by using a collection ... just do the export from the collection into a "Best Of" folder)

  • Custom Sort Order (Re-ordering)?

I understand I can't drag and drop in smart collections or in folders with sub-folders.  But I should be able to re-order photos in a normal collection by dragging and dropping.  This feature has stopped working.  Any ideas?  Thank you (LR 4.1 with Windows 7, 64 bit)

Followup: I spoke to Andre with Aperture support. He could not confirm this, at first, using a small number of images dragged from project A to Project B. Using a larger number (99 in his case), he was able to confirm the loss of custom sort order. The Apple web site says this has been corrected for import/exports and that is also not fixed. He will refer the problem to engineering for correction in a future update.
I suspect (have no proof) the problem relates to the way Aperture divides each download (from card or camera) to a project into separate folders. To see this, export a project and open it (show package contents). Within the project package are separate folders for each of the downloads to the project. Aperture does not consolidate the images into a single folder. It appears that when a set of images are downloaded at one time is interposed between images taken previously, the sort order is not lost when the images are moved to another project or exported as a project.
I still would like to know if there is a work around for this.

  • Custom sort order still lost

This was not fixed as reported by Apple with Aperture version 2. When I move custom sorted images from one project to another, or export and import a project with custom sorted images, the sort order is lost. The order after the move, or import is either in file name order or sometimes in a completly random order. This occurs on both my MacBook Pro (late 2008) and my 8 core (16GB RAM) Mac Pro.
This makes it impossible to do efficient work in the field and export the work.

  • Sort order for photos synched from Aperture

I have synched photos from Aperture to the Apple TV, but the sort order when shown on Apple TV is not the same as the sort order in Aperture. Does anyone have an idea about which metadata field in Aperture is being used by Apple TV to determine the sort?

Hi this is my first append to Apple support so things may go pear shaped...
I have the same problem as you describe and have discovered that the order appears to be consistent with the file NAME order (as seen in Finder) This is not the camera file name but the version name I gave it when I imported the file into Aperture. I then exported the album to the desktop and streamed it to Appletv. (iTunes #count/album is sometimes wrong)
Given a file list of say 40 files, the new (incorrect Appletv re-sorted) order follows a pattern based on the FIRST numeric decimal digit in the filename!
Example - I have a folder containing 40 consecutive images - the new order these images will be displayed by Appletv will be as follows
    1 10[...]19 2 20[...]29 3 31[...]39 4 40 5 6 7 8 9
I've proved this by photographing 40 separate image files each one showing a number in the range of 1 to 40 as an individual image. These are in order by number (as appears in the image) & file number assigned by the camera, and also therefore by file date time. I imported them into Aperture and assigned them the Version name of 'Number' + sequence.
So, when I view image file #1 named 'Number 1 of 40' I see the number '1' and the EXIF tells me it was taken at 28/07/2007 13:33:16 BDT. Similarly when I view image file #40 named 'Number 40 of 40' I see the number '40' and the EXIF tells me it was taken at 28/07/2007 13:37:34 BDT.
I CAN CHANGE the order Appletv displays these by renaming them - eg change file name 'Number 10 of 40' to 'Number 41 of 40' makes it appear at the end. The sequence now becomes 1 11-19 etc 40 41. Nothing else appears to have changed.
I've since found that a separate burn of different files(29) using Toast followed the same pattern.
Since starting this append iTunes has the added the album of 40 numbers to its list and I have just viewed them on Atv slideshow. Bizarrely the order is different again - 3,5,2,4,1,10,13,15,6,11,14,7,8,12,9,32,17,33,26,22,23,28,18,29,20,24,35,16,21,3 1,19,25,30,34,27,37,38,40,39,36. Random is off. Please can we have a fix for this or at least a workaround.
    Thanks.

  • Sort Order as per HFM Hierarchy

    Hi,
I am in a situation, where I need to generate/export a hierarchy from DRM, ensuring members are in the exact order as they are in the upstream HFM application.
Is there a way to generate a sort order, or assign the sort order property values of members after loading them to the hierarchy.
Meaning, I want to manually change the order of the members in the hierarchy, and then have the sort order property take values based on the order of the member in the hierarchy.
Can anyone tell me how i can achieve this, or even create a derived sort order property which can employ such a logic?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Anindyo

Go to hierarchy properties for which you want node to have sort order.
give the property value for StandardHierSort as SortOrder.
Now run the automator to change the property SortOrder for each nodes.
You can set value as 1 for nodes you want first in extract then 2,3, so on.
Instead of running automator for each node, you can also create a derived property of type sort and use that in hier level property
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • CUCM 9.1.1 ucmuser web sort order of controlled device profiles

    Hi !
Anyone has an idea, how the web interface for the users (ucmuser) does sort the controlled em device profiles ?
Or even better how to change the displayed sort order ?
Changing the order of controlled device profiles in the user configuration in ccmadmin does not change anything in ucmuser.
And the controlled device profiles in ucmuser seem to have no recognizable order at all, but the order keeps being the same,
regardless any changes we make in ccmadmin.

    Hi.
    You can export all UDP.
    Edit it with Excel
filter only entries with empty user
Upload the modified file as UDP- UDP Delete Custom File
Select delete device profile from BAT menu

  • BUG: SQL Developer 1.5.3 CSV export column order broken

There's a bug in the 1.5.3 release of SQL Developer regarding data export. This bug re-orders the column order in the data export to be alphabetically sorted. This produces mangled CSV files if used on a table or a view.
This is a critical bug to me since I need to produce lots of ad-hoc data CSV export files. I'm staying with SQL Developer 1.5.0.53 (53.38) for now as it doesn't have this problem.
This is the same bug as present in Jdeveloper 11.1 as described in my post here: BUG: Jdev 11.1.1.0.0 -- DB table data export column order is not preserved
    Quoted from that post:
When I connect to Oracle database, get the table list, right click on the table and select 'Export Data'->csv. The dialog box opens with three tabs: Format, Columns, Where. The column order displayed in both tabs Columns and Where is alphabetic. Because alphabetic ordering re-arranges columns from their initial ordering in the table, this screws up CSV export because columns are not in their intended order. This same problem occurs when I try to export data from views to generate a CSV file with a particular column order.
Please open/check bug report if it's already open.
    Thanks!

This happens with all of the export options for tables or views if you right click from the connections tab table list. If I pull it up in the main window and go to the data tab, I can then right click and it will keep the column id order for some of the views and tables. But not all.
I am running 1.5.3 Build Main 5783 on a Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 platform

    G'day all.
Does anybody know how I can display number of entries per sort order in

    Hi,
The way I did it I used "AT END OF " statement and added my amount to a
variable and then move my variable in work area and then modified your
internal table from work area transporting that field or depending on
your requirement that you need to add a separate line for totals append
the internal table which you are going to use it for first display. Then
    after the set_table_for_first_display I added the alv_build_sort
criteria. And call method alv_list->set_sort_criteria exporting the
    internal table i_sort.
