Export subtitles to a file

Is it possible? There's no such topic in Help
G5 1.8   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Short answer: no.
Longer answer: did you try searching the forum, perhaps for "export subtitles"?
Somewhat longer answer: if you search the forum, you should find some messages describing a third-party utility that might be able to pull subtitles out of an item description export.

    I have successfully exported subtitles (XML files) from FC version 7 to FC version 6, by choosing Apple XML Interchange Format Version 4. Now the exported subtitles suddenly read in one long line, at the top, not registering any "Enter" keystrokes. The same happens even if I re-import the XML file into Final Cut Version 7 (from where I exported the subtitles). Any tips on how to fix this?

    You might see if you can bring the xml file into Title Exchange Pro
    http://www.spherico.com/filmtools/TitleExchange/
    It's a great program and the author was very responsive when I had a problem.
    If it reads correctly, you can probably save it back out.
    If you want to send it to me, I'll see if it opens.

  • How to export subtitles as a text file into DVDSP

    Hi, I am trying to export subtitles from fcp 4.5 to dvdsp 3 as a .txt file. (Dvdsp can use .txt files in its subtitle track.)
    I had already created all the subtitles in fcp, and I hope that there is a way where I do not have to create them again from scratch in dvdsp.
    Thank you!

    Hi Hanumang,
    So, I did the txt file piece by pice. It did not go into dvdsp perfectly; I had to shift some of the titles around a bit.
    Now I have another problem which I jusdt posted.
    Perhaps you can help me again?
    New issue:
    I now imported an improved (re-edited with a few brightness corrections) compressed file into DVDSP, deleted the previous file, dragged the new file into tracks in Dvdsp. (Let's call this project "new").
    Now the subtitles from S1 have disappeared! (I had spend tons of time creating subtitles)
    I did a new save, so, yesterdays DVDSP project (let's call this project "old") is still OK, with the perfect subtitles, but not-all-perfect video track (where I improved the brightness filter).
    Can I re-import the subtitles from the "old" project into the "new" one? If yes, how?
    Or, can I export the subtitles from "old" into a txt. file and then import it into project "new?"
    Please help!
    Thank you for your time!

  • How to export subtitles?

    how do i export subtitles from dvd studio pro to final cut?
    do i need a extra program or is't possible to do directly in dvd studio pro?
    thanks
    =Hirmukala=

    Hi - welcome to the discussions.
    I'm afraid there is no easy way to do what you want. If you have created the subtitles inside DVDSP then they are held inside the track description item - you can export a track description by using the export item function...
    However, that file will be written in XML and you'll need to interpret it to get the subtitles out of it. There are a couple of shareware apps that can do it, but it isn't guaranteed to work every time.
    You are better off by far to write the subtitles in an external app or use a text editor and then import them to DVDSP... that way you can always get the text into any other app as you need.
    Sorry!

  • Exporting Subtitle from DVD Studio Pro

    Is there a way to export subtitles from DVD Studio Pro or Is there a tool somewhere that will generate an STL file from a DVD Studio Pro subtitle stream?
    Thanks for your help!

    Yes, other than the manual -- which I have exhausted. It gave me the coding for a text-based caption, and the coding for a graphic, but not the coding that would put both on the same clip (same time value).
    However, I can manually go into the subtitle inspector and add whatever element (the text or the graphic) each with its own offsets, and have them appear flawlessly together. I am convinced there must be coding that generates this effect I can use in the STL file, but I have found nothing on the web, nor any of several downloaded manuals (including pp. 456 - 460).
    Any advice?

  • Exporting subtitles, OR changing from PAL to NTSC

    Hi, folks.
    I've made a DVD in PAL with full subtitles. I created the subtitles in Encore.
    My client now needs an NTSC copy of the disk. I can easily rebuild the menu, but retyping the subtitles will take an age! Is there a way to export the subtitles from Encore (or a way of grabbing them from the project folder if that's a workaround) so I can import them into a new NTSC project?
    Even better, is it possible to get the original PAL project and save it as NTSC, or if not, any reccomendations of a program that can do it for me which will preserve menus and subtitles? I've had a look, but most seem geated towards piracy, not making a carbon copy with things like subtitles intact.
    Many, many thanks for any help!
    Alison.

    hey there:
    i guess there's no easy answers for the matters in this thread as it has no replies for more than a month.
    i got a related problem - and actually i didn't DO the subtitles in encore, but imported a text file of them. i had to spot in encore, though, as my import didn't contain in/out time codes.
    & now that that's all done in PAL, i'll need to do the same for NTSC. i actually figured out a kind of a rudimentary workaround for this (or, so i thought) by ripping the subtitles off the finished PAL dvd with an app called subrip & porting to subtitle workshop that exports the encore format. but unfortunately whatever i try to do converting between different time code formats/frame rates, the resulting NTSC time codes are out of whack.
    the above, though a long story, does contain two core questions:
    - how to export subtitles & their time codes out of encore?
    - how to convert above export back & forth between PAL/NTSC?
    any pointers much appreciated... cheers!
    best,

  • How do I export subtitles from Premiere CC?

    I'm working  on a feature film (90 minutes) that has to be subtitled. I made already titles in Premiere CC and need to export the Subtitles as SRT file or XML file in order to prepare it for DCP. How do I proceed?

    Here's my workflow to create a VTT for Vimeo and Youtube. Just substitute the VTT export for SRT at points 4 and 5.
    Closed Captions to Youtube & Vimeo workflow
    EDIT: Ohhhh no wait, you mean you build your subtitles in the text generator rather than the closed captions generator? That's a bit trickier. I don't know of any way to shift titles over to caption land without redoing the whole thing, and I'm guessing you don't want to do that. Anyone help out

  • "Rough" GIF export from ActionScript 3 files impossible?

    Hello,
    I just upgraded from Flash CS3 to Flash CS5, and I've been playing with the various new features. However, I've just encountered an odd problem that I can't seem to find a solution to.
    In the past, I've made animated GIFs in CS3 by exporting them with the "Smooth" box unchecked. This was really convenient for me because not only could I export crisp pixel bitmaps from Flash, but I could edit it in another program later. I was planning on making some GIF animations via this process with the aid of the bone tool in CS4 and 5.
    When I tried exporting frames of of a figure created with the bone tool in CS5, however, I got images that were fuzzy and often had distorted colors. After some time, I realized that this was because in CS3, I had exported the images from ActionScript 2 files, while the bone tool only works in ActionScript 3 files.
    Is it not possible to export "rough" GIFs from ActionScript 3 files, or is there a trick to doing that that I'm somehow missing?

    I'm sorry for not making it clear in my initial post, but it doesn't matter whether I create an image using the bone tool or not -- any GIF image exported from an AS3 file always has an antialiased appearance, even when the Smooth box is unchecked.
    To show you what I mean, here's a simple GIF image I exported from an AS2 file:
    Notice that all of the lines are simple and pixellated, with no antialiasing at all. This is the kind of GIF I want to export from an AS3 file.
    Now here's the exact same image I exported from an AS3 file, with the exact same export settings:
    As you can see, all of the lines look smoothed, even though I made sure the Smooth box was unchecked.
    Is there anything I can do to correct this problem?

  • Export to Excel – XLS file formatting

    Hi,
    I have created process that exports report to XLS file. I write XLS file using XML tags, supported by Excel, which allow me to format each cell (especially look and data type). Unfortunately I can’t force Excel to see cell as date-cell.
    I’m getting from database date in YYYY-MM-DD format and I want the same in Excel. I can export it as string value, but I want Excel to see it as date – not string.
    This code works fine:
    <ss:Cell><ss:Data ss:Type="String">'||x.begin_date||'</ss:Data></ss:Cell>
    but Excel see the cell as a string.
    I want something like that:
    <ss:Cell><ss:Data ss:Type="Date">'||x.prnm_short_name||'</ss:Data></ss:Cell>
    but this one doesn’t work, as well as “DateTime” type.
    Do you know how to solve this problem?

    Here is a sample of how you can create a procedure from an EXCEL file.
    1. create, format and save Excel file as an XML file
    2. edit file to add" htp.p(' " tags to begining of each line and "')';" tags to the end of the lines
    3. add standard header tags at start of file (see code below)
    4. add standard end tags at end of file (see code below)
    5. grant excute privileges as required
    6. test procedure: from browser (http://.../apex/owner.excel_rpt in this case; you do not need to use apex to do this
    - you might want to secure the procedure once you got it running by limiting it to run only from your app
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE excel_rpt (fname VARCHAR2 DEFAULT 'excel_rpt.xls')
    IS
    -- query to get data; can be used in CURSOR LOOOP to fill in report
    CURSOR rpt_cur IS

    owa_util.http_header_close;
    -- to get this, save your Excel file as XML, open in editor (I used Notepad++),
    -- prepend "htp.p(' to all the line", postpend "');" to all lines

  • Size of Infocube Export to a flat file (.CSV)

    First off, I'm new to BW so I apologize if I use the wrong terminology. I was wondering if there was any way to estimate the size of a flat file infocube export. For example, if I look up all the associated DB tables for a cube, let's call it TESTCUBE, would the total size of those tables be about the size of the TESTCUBE export to a flat file. This assumes that the cube is not compressed in any way. So if the the total DB table size is 100 MB then is the flat file about 100 MB? If not, is there a way to estimate this.
    Thanks!

    Can't say for sure how all DBs that BW run on work, but with Oracle, space is consumed in blocks, not by rows/records.
    Let's say you have a table where the average row width (record length) is 100 bytes.  In a tablespace that has 8K blocks, in theory, you could fit 81 rows in the block.
    However there is usually a certain amount of freespace left in a block when rows are added to accomodate subsequent inserts/updates.  The BW tables I have looked at default this to 10%. So that means youe have over 800 bytes of the block that might not get filled.  There are other things that can result in space being consumed, such as deletions that will leave dead space, and updates can cause a row to migrate to another block, etc.  Also, space is allocated in chunks as a table grows, and you may add one row to a table that causes a 10MB chunk of storage to be allocated, but it is holding only 1 row.
    So as you can begin to see.  A flat export should require less space than the source table (unless you are using database table compression which could completely invalidate what I have said), but by how much depends on all the things I mentioned, and could change from day to day.
    You could certainly use as a rough rule of thumb, that a flat file export will require the same space and you would be safe (except if you are using db compression).

    Use XML.sendAndLoad.
    http://livedocs.macromedia.com/flash/8/main/00002879.html
    You will need a server script to receive the XML structure
    and it depends on
    the server scripting language how you obtain that data. Then
    you can either
    populate a database or write to a static file or even email
    the XML data
    received from Flash.

  • How can i export a 24bit avi file from photoshop for mac?

    how can i export a 24bit avi file from photoshop for mac? i have a client that specificly needs the files to be avi and in 24bit what are the settings that i need to use to export the video using photoshop on a mac?

    Hello,
      To make a 24-bit AVI file in Photoshop, go to File>Export>Render Video. Then, under File Options, choose AVI from the Quicktime Export drop-down menu. Click the Settings button. Click the Settings button in the AVI Settings window. Change Compression to None, and then choose "Millions of Colors" from the Depth drop-down under Compression.
      The Millions of Colors option is for 24-bit video (8-bit R+G+B channels, 8x3=24). Millions of Colors+ is for 32-bit video (24-bit video plus an 8-bit alpha channel).

  • Looking for a program that can handel import and export of palm doc files

    I am looking for a program that can handel the import and export of palm doc Files that can convert them to to either txt or RTF files for Vista 32, running Palm Desktop 7.1.
    Could anyone give me a few suggestions of any plug-ins that would be good me?

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Ok, you need to clean uninstall Palm desktop 6.2. Install Palm desktop 4.1.4 and download and install documents to go version 6.
    Here are the clean uninstall instructioins for Vista.
    You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something
    happens. You can find your data files by going to Start --> Documents -->
    Palm OS Desktop. Highlight your Palm Desktop username and right click and
    copy. Then go to your PC desktop right click on a blank spot and select paste.
    If this is the first time you are installing Palm desktop and encountering a problem, skip the previous step.
    Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove everything that has to do
    with Palm Desktop from your computer.
    Go to the following locations on the PC and delete the folders listed below.
    C:\Program Files\Palm or Palm One
    C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Palm or
    PalmOne
    C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata
    *Note you may need to view hidden folders to get to appdata. To do that go
    into your control panel and open folder options. Go to view tab and uncheck
    hide hidden files.
    Once this is done you will need to delete some registry keys from your PC Operating System.
    Word of warning, going here and deleting the wrong thing can cause your PC
    from starting up, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel
    you are unsure of yourself, see if you have a friend that can help you or a
    PC technician that you can pay to help you. This procedure will show them everything they need to delete. To make sure we have a good copy of the current registry, we need to do a backup of the Registry.
    Go to start on the PC, in the search field type "regedit.exe" without quotes.
    Highlight COMPUTER, go to File --> Export. Should pop up with a Save As box.
    Current location is fine, should be in My Documents or save to a location you will remember. In the file name on the bottom type "backup[todaysdate]" i.e. backup07072008. Next, the hard part.
    The easiest way to make sure your working with the correct key, highlight the key i.e. palm quick install, and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you, are you sure. Say yes. Do the same thing for all keys below.
    If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician.
    BUT do not turn off your computer.
    The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of theses reg keys will not be here
    but if they are delete them)
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm
    Next reboot your computer.
    Then reinstall your palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. Use the username that is on the handheld.
