Export tablespace

Hai
Iam a fresher and im learning dba.i have certain doubts. i tried but still i want to clarify from you people.
by default how much mb of space will be allocated in a tablespace for a normal database user.where we have to query to get the information about the space available for a user in a tablespace.what should we do to increase the quota in the tablespace for that user
by default users tablespace is alloted as the default tablespace for a database user.if the dba creates a new tablespace will the normal database user have access in the newly created tablespace.how to give the user, access to the newly created tablespace.cam the users have access to 2 tablespaces simultaneously?
i tried tablespace level export/import.i performed the export properly but during the import of tablespace i get the following error
in tablespace level export import if we export a tablespace named "apps" from the source database is it necessary that the same tablespace with same name,size and same datafile name must exist in the target dataabase.
If the apps tablespace in source database is used by 5 people with name a1,a2,a3,a4,a5 is it necessary that the same users must exist in the target database fpr the apps tablespace?
when i import the apps tablespace in my target database i get the following error as ora-29348
how to perform the full database export/import.
expecting the valuable replies....................

PLease spend some time reading Oracle docs. They are available here, http://tahiti.oracle.com. All the questions of yours are answerable from docs. Please read the Administrator, Concepts, Utlities guide to get teh answers.
And its not a good idea at all to ask many questions in one go only. Ask one at a time with complete description along with your db and os version.

    (9I) EXPORT의 TABLESPACE OPTION, IMPORT의 STATISTICS OPTION
    ===========================================================
    PURPOSE
    Oracle 9i에서의 새로운 IMPORT parameter 인 STATISTICS 와
    EXPORT 의 새로운 기능인 TABLESPACE parameter에 관한 설명이다.
    SCOPE
    Export Transportable Tablespace Feature는 8i~10g Standard Edition에서는
    지원하지 않는다.
    Explanation & Example
    1. Oracle 9i에서는 STATISTICS 라는 새로운 Import parameter 값을 제공한다.
    비교 ) Oracle 8i에서는 ANALYZE parameter와 RECALCULATE_STATISTICS
    parameter의 조합으로 사용한다.
    - ALWAYS : 미리 계산된 통계정보가 불안정하든 하지 않든 간에
    상관없이 통계정보를 항상 import. (Default)
    - NONE : 미리 계산된 통계정보를 import하지 않는다.
    - SAFE : 불안정하면 table을 import한후 통계정보를 재계산하고
    그렇지 않으면 미리 계산된 통계정보를 import.
    - RECALCULATE : 미리 계산된 통계정보를 import하는 대신에 import한 후
    table에 대한 통계정보를 재계산.
    여기서 잠깐 통계정보가 불안정하다는 것은 언제를 말하는지를 짚어본다.
    : Export time에 아래와 같은 경우에 미리 계산된 통계정보를 불안정하다
    고 표시한다.
    - Export하는 동안에 row error가 있을 때
    - Client character set 또는 NCHAR character set이 server의
    character set 또는 NCHAR character set과 다를 때
    - Query option을 사용할 때 ( 8i 이상에서 제공하는 새로운
    parameter)
    - 특정 partition 또는 subpartition만이 export될 때
    비교 ) Export 시에 STATISTICS parameter는 estimate, compute, none
    의 세가지 값을 가지며 estimate가 default이다.
    2. Oracle 9i 에서는 특정 tablespace에 있는 table을 export하기 위한
    TABLESPACE라는 새로운 parameter를 제공한다.
    - index가 어느 tablesapce에 속해 있는지의 여부에 상관없이 tablespace
    에 속한 table와 연관된 index는 모두 export된다.
    - TABLESPACE mode로 export을 받기 위해서는 EXP_FULL_DATABASE
    privilege를 가지고 있어야 한다.
    비교 ) 8i에서의 TABLESPACE option은 8i에서의 새로운 기능인
    TRANSPORTABLE TABLESPACE 기능을 사용하는 데 필요한 단지 meta
    data만을 export받는 것에 그친다. TABLESPACE 단위로 data을 받을
    수는 없다.
    9i에서도 믈론 TABLESPACE option은 TRANSPORTABLE TABLESPACE 기
    능을 위해서도 사용이 된다.

    Hi
    1)if I use the 3rd option it should gather stats for
    all the objects including indexes. However, when I
    used that option it didn't gather satas for Index. Do
    I need to use cascade=>TRUE option?
    Yes, default is FALSE, so need to force TRUE
    2) I need to backup my current stats and gather new
    stats for entire DB. If I export DATABASE stats will
    it export all stats including index, system?
    Yes
    3) If I collect stats using GATHER_DATABASE_STATS, Do
    I need to explicitly collect other stats for index,
    system etc?
    No

  • Exporting Tablespace using DATAPUMP

    Hi,
    I found out that exporting a tablespace with Datapump doesn't
    export Objects like Sequences or Procedures. Also you can't recreate
    a user when you import the data.-->you can if you use SCHEMA-Option
    Did I forgot any option or is it not possible?
    What I need is a possibility to export all users with all objects of
    a tablespace!
    Is that only possible by exporting with the SCHEMA-Option?

    Not sure why this thread was locked, but I unlocked it.
    There may be segments in this tablespace, but they may not be owned by a schema that is exported using Data Pump. For example, if all of the storage in this tablespace is owned by the SYS schema, then there is nothing in this tablespace to be exported.
    Any idea what schema owns the segments in this tablespace?

  • Exporting tablespace

    Hi all,
    I want to export a tablespace from Oracle 10g DB on HP-UX environment and import the same tablespace into new database (Oracle 10g) on Windows 2003 server environment.

    He doesn't state he wants to move a datafile, that's your interpretation.Okay, that's correct I did assume this and only OP can clear his requirment :) .
    Anyway, expdp can export a tablespace, exp can't.Hmm I am not sure that I did get it, its possible from exp/imp as well isnt it but not on cross platform? The tablespace parameter which is there in the datapump is to move the objects from one tablespace to another within the same db , isn't that correct?

  • Insufficient Privileges when export  tablespaces

    Hello all,
    I use Oracle 8i (8.1.7.0) W2K.
    I need to copy the existing database to new server (hardware upgrade reason) so I decide to use exp to backup my datafile and dmp file
    The Problem is :
    when I use command :
    exp file=tbl.dmp buffer=500000 transport_tablespace=y tablespaces=user_data
    and system will ask me user name :
    I have enter : sys/change_on_install@db1 as sysdba
    I have got the error message :
    EXP-00056: ORACLE error 1031 encountered
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    I have ensured that sys as a sysdba in my database 100%
    Anyone have any suggestion or any idea?
    I will be appreciated for you support...
    Thank you verymuch in advance.

    You need a database on which SYS has run the following packages:
        $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catplug.sql
        $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/dbmsplts.sql      -
        $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/prvtplts.plb    You need access to the following packages: SYS.DBMS_PLUGTS and SYS.DBMS_TTS. If you can't see those I think it's likely those scripts have not been run.

  • Export users , roles and tablespace definotion

    Hello,

    You can let Export prompt you for parameters by entering the EXP
    command followed by your username/password:
    Example: EXP SCOTT/TIGER
    Or, you can control how Export runs by entering the EXP command followed
    by various arguments. To specify parameters, you use keywords:
    Format: EXP KEYWORD=value or KEYWORD=(value1,value2,...,valueN)
    Example: EXP SCOTT/TIGER GRANTS=Y TABLES=(EMP,DEPT,MGR)
    or TABLES=(T1:P1,T1:P2), if T1 is partitioned table
    USERID must be the first parameter on the command line.
    Keyword Description (Default) Keyword Description (Default)
    USERID username/password FULL export entire file (N)
    BUFFER size of data buffer OWNER list of owner usernames
    FILE output files (EXPDAT.DMP) TABLES list of table names
    COMPRESS import into one extent (Y) RECORDLENGTH length of IO record
    GRANTS export grants (Y) INCTYPE incremental export type
    INDEXES export indexes (Y) RECORD track incr. export (Y)
    ROWS export data rows (Y) PARFILE parameter filename
    CONSTRAINTS export constraints (Y) CONSISTENT cross-table consistency
    LOG log file of screen output STATISTICS analyze objects (ESTIMATE)
    DIRECT direct path (N) TRIGGERS export triggers (Y)
    FEEDBACK display progress every x rows (0)
    FILESIZE maximum size of each dump file
    QUERY select clause used to export a subset of a table
    VOLSIZE number of bytes to write to each tape volume
    The following keywords only apply to transportable tablespaces
    TRANSPORT_TABLESPACE export transportable tablespace metadata (N)
    TABLESPACES list of tablespaces to transport
    Export terminated successfully without warnings.

  • TSPITR - Recover a Dropped Tablespace aborting due dependency over XDB.

    I found an issue using TSPITR to Recover a Dropped Tablespace when XML DB (XDB) is installed on a different tablespace from "SYSAUX".
    During execution of TSPITR RMAN use Data Pump to export/import Tablespace Metadata as Data Pump has dependency over XDB views and related objects and XDB is installed on a set of tablespace not included on dummy database then EXPDP fails.
    Errors raised ORA-39123, ORA-00376, ORA-01110.
    I didn't found any limitation about XDB location on documentation or MoS.
    This looks like a Oracle Bug.

    RMAN>If I drop tablespace SOE and XDB on Target database and try to restore both (SOE,XDB) export will succeeds but during IMPORT Metadata RMAN will faill due XDB dependency.
    In my view, they (mean Oracle) need find way to include XDB Tablespace at DUMMY database only to export (EXPDP) Metadata purposes.
    If someone get a workaround for this error will be grateful.
    P.S: This is not a Production environment and will soon open a SR on Oracle Support.

    Hi Michael,
    I did not find solution to use TSPITR to recover dropped tablespace if XML DB is installed in a non-default tablespace (i.e outside of SYSAUX).
    As far I could understand, the only way to perform this RESTORE is using the old fashion. By creating clone database excluding all unnecessary tablespace, exporting and importing metadata from desired tablespace manually.
    Since Oracle has not solved the issue I created my own workaround.
    @All
    If someone is able to use TSPITR to restore dropped tablespace when XDB is installed in a non-default tablespace, please let me know!!!
    The procedure below is supported on All Oracle Version since 10.1 until 11.2.
    I DON'T RECOMMEND to create AUXILIARY (clone) database using the same server from TARGET because you can damage the TARGET database.
    On this example I'm using same server.
    See this example:
    ### ON TARGET DATABASE
    SQL> select count(1) SEG_COUNT from dba_segments where tablespace_name='SOE';
      SEG_COUNT
            32
    SQL> ! date
    Wed Dec 19 15:08:11 GMT-02:00 2012
    SQL> drop tablespace soe including contents and datafiles;
    Tablespace dropped.
    ### CHECK TABLESPACE TO BE EXCLUDED FROM RESTORE
    SQL> select tablespace_name
        from dba_tablespaces
         where tablespace_name not in ('SYSTEM','SYSAUX','UNDOTBS1','SOE','XDB','TEMP');
    TABLESPACE_NAME
    USERS
    AUDIT_AUX

    Please help me.

    Seema are you using MTS, check this out, this might be the reason for your error
    Cause
    ~~~~~
    The value for the init.ora parameter LARGE_POOL_SIZE is too low. This parameter
    specifies the size (in bytes) of the large pool allocation heap, which is
    (among others) used by the shared servers systems for session memory. When the
    value is too low, the shared server will crash. As a result of this crash,
    Export will be terminated too.
    Fix
    ~~~~
    1. Increase the value of the LARGE_POOL_SIZE.
    To check current (or default) value of the LARGE_POOL_SIZE:
    SQL> conn / as sysdba
    SQL> show parameter large
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    large_pool_size big integer 8388608
    a. When SGA_MAX_SIZE has a high enough value, increase LARGE_POOL_SIZE
    dynamically. E.g.:
    SQL> conn / as sysdba
    SQL> ALTER SYSTEM SET large_pool_size=50m SCOPE=BOTH;
    SQL> show parameter large
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    large_pool_size big integer 58720256
    b. When SGA_MAX_SIZE is too low in order to increase the LARGE_POOL_SIZE
    dynamically (ORA-2097 and ORA-4033 is reported), you have to modify the
    value in the spfile (or manually in the init.ora), and restart the
    database; e.g.:
    SQL> conn / as sysdba
    SQL> ALTER SYSTEM SET large_pool_size=50m SCOPE=SPFILE;
    SQL> shutdown immediate
    SQL> startup
    SQL> show parameter large
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    large_pool_size big integer 58720256
    Restart export, e.g.:
    exp system/manager@t920 full=y file=exp_full.dmp log=exp_full.log
    or:
    2. Use a dedicated connection.
    When MTS has been configured, all new connections will be made to the
    shared server by default. To force the usage of a dedicated server:
    a. make a new Oracle9i Net alias in the tnsnames.ora (e.g.: "t920nomts")
    and specify (SERVER = DEDICATED) in the CONNECT_DATA section.
    b. restart export while making a dedicated server connection,
    e.g.:
    exp system/manager@t920nomts full=y file=exp_full.dmp log=exp_full.log

    Are you,by any chance, running Oracle 9i installation code in an Oracle 10g database?
    If so : why?
    As far as I know you can only transport tablespaces to a database of an identical version, so it looks like this is not going to work.

Seems like the main problem is that the export was done in Linux which have it's own directories like '/u01/app/oracle/oradat' and others but in my Windows OS those folders don't exist? The whole import fails because tablespaces couldn't be created, later Schemas couldn't be created and tables also. Can i get the import work somehow?
    I runned the import as following:
    C:\Users\charlesr>imp userid=system/a FULL=Y FILE=exp_ddl.dmp log=imp.logMy Oracle 10 XE is installed into folder:
    D:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0Maybe i should run the import command in drive D where my Oracle lives, not in drive C as i did?
    And now when i tried to run the import on drive C, seems like my database user "system/a" is corrupted or password corrupted:
    C:\Users\charlesr>d:
    D:\>imp userid=system/a FULL=Y FILE=exp_ddl.dmp log=imp.log

    IMP-00058: ORACLE error 1017 encountered
    ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon deniedUsername:I think i don't have on OS level rights to write to C-drive, that's why i got errors. But now i can't log in with system/a, why so?

You could use import option show=y to capture import run statements and find CREATE TABLESPACE statements. Keep in mind your target database already has undo, temp system, etc. tablespaces so you do not need to precreate them. Then rerun import.
