Export takes forever!

I am pretty sure I am doing everything right.
I used to on FCP 6 import an hour of 1080i60 footage. Lined it up with a seperate aiff. Exported it as the same thing 1080i60 and it would take 30 minutes.
I am trying to do the same basic thing in FCP X and its taking an hour and a half to export. Anyone know why?

Right now I am just simply testing FCP X...so I am trying to import my 1080i60 hour long file into a project of the same settings and export it out as the same length and file just to see how long it should take....
1. I open FCP X
2. Import my 1080i 60 with no transcoding
3. Create New Project
the apple proRes 422 is the defualt for rending format....I have no idea what this does...there should be no need for rendering....at least i think there shouldnt be....
4. Drag the whole import into project timeline
5. Export
and it takes like 2 hours................

  • 'Preparing data for exporting' takes forever (Urgent, please help)

    Hello,
I'm currrently editing a 1920x800 anamorphic Full HD project on Premiere Pro CS5. The original full HD clips were replaced with AE-comps using Dynamic link for color grading. The project is 15 minutes long and mainly consists of linked AE-comps. The sound is filled with gunshot sound effects, music and original recorded audio. That audio is also linked with Soundbooth for some postwork.
Here's the problem: when i hit the 'Export' on Premiere pro I get the window, i choose my settings (H.264 10 mbps) and then when I hit the 'Qeue' button it shows the progress bar 'Preparing data for export' and Media Encoder starts up normally. The problem is nothing happens afterwards. The project doesn't get loaded in AME and the progress bar keeps on telling forever that it's 'preparing data for export' Normally this process only takes up a minute or 2 max. How can i fix this?
    Editing rig:
    27 inch imac
    4 gigs ram
    2.53 i5 processor
    ATI 4850
Please help me with this, my deadline is within 4 hours
    Thank you!

I have some suggestions you can try.
    1. Can you try exporting directly from inside Premiere, instead of adding to AME from PR?
    - press the Export button inside the Export Settings Dialog, not the Queue button
    2. Can you import the sequence directly into AME?
    - launch AME, File menu\Add Premiere Pro Sequence
    3. Try using a different format other than, H.264.
    4. Try using PR CS5.5. You can download the trial version and use it for 30 days.
Hope this helps. If not, please re-post with test results.
    Thanks

  • Render (both for preview and export) takes forever

I'm running Premiere Elements 12.0 (really 12.1) in a MacBook Pro Retina running 10.10.1 (14B25)
It has quad Core i7 each 2.7 gH,  NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB, 16 GB of ram, and a 750GB SSD disk. There are no other applications running on the computer, and there is at least 300 GB of free disk space on the SSD.
I am trying to edit HD video from my GoPro Hero 3+. I'm just loading the GoPro files using Add Media. Then I cut out boring parts, add in image stabilization and some titles, etc. The sessions typically have 6 to 8 files, each about 2GB of video. It represents 2 to 3 hours of capture. The goal is to get maybe one hour of nice video.
Previewing viewing is terrible, with video out of sync from the audio by many seconds. You can't see any movement in the video for 10 to 30 seconds. This gets better if I use the "render" button on the timeline, but this process takes 15 to 30 hours.  And the improved preview speed only stays effective for a short while, as I do edits, add effects, etc. it gets slow (aka unusable) again.
Once I've fought the program to get ready to do an export, I've got another multi-hour wait. Usually this is a bit shorter than the initial rendering, since the editing process has removed an hour or two of content.
I know, these are big input files, and the resulting movies are big (a couple of gigabytes). But this is one of the fastest and most expensive laptop computers sold in the world. I'm just using a GoPro, not some fancy Red or 4K camera.
I need to have the editing process be 3 times faster, I want it to be much better, ten times faster.
I thought that quad real core with 8 threads, 16GB of ram, and a 750GB SSD was fast.
I'd like concrete answers as to how I can get there.
Are there settings for Premiere Elements that will help? Would I be happier with Premiere Pro? Would I be happier on a Windows machine with 2 or more high end graphics cards?

thanks for the reply. I'm new to GoPro and Premiere Elements, so I don't know exactly what some of your stuff is.
The video is taken on my dirt-bike, a motorcycle going through trails, woods and rocks. Its unwatchable without stabilization.
The files are all taken as a single ride, single push of the shutter, and I go off and ride for a couple of hours. The GoPro automatically switches to a new recording file when the old one gets to 2.4 GB (which is about the maximum file size for 32 bit file formats.
I copy all of the video clips to the SSD from the GoPro. Then I load them as assetts. Since that it the only disk I have, everything is there. But an SSD should be fast enough to handle swapping, file reading and writing.  I don't think that you can get two separate SSDs in a MacBook Pro Retina. It has no optical drive (which you could replace with an SSD in older models)
I'm not against buying Pro if I have to, I'm cheap, and would rather not, but if that will make the workflow feasible, I'll cough up the money.
All of clips (everything) have "Motion" "Opacity" "Stabilizer" and "Image Control"
I actually have no clear understanding of what Motion does vs Stabilizer.
Timeline rendering takes 10+ hours. More if the Mac sleep mode sets in. I have no idea where the rendered files are. Whereever PE defailts them. Still SSD
What is "the Edit area monitor"? Do you mean the smallish video window above the timeline? Sometimes the video looks pretty good, other times the viewing of it lags 30 seconds or more behind the sound and timeline pointer.
I don't think I understand your comment about when to stabilize. I agree that I should be able to work and do edits, titles, etc. without stabilization, and then just turn it on at the end. Or maybe even render it for export and then stabilize that file. But I don't know how to do any of that.
    Thanks
    Pat

  • Is there any easier way to edit imovie files that have been exported as mov file then added to FCE 4?? As every move I make has to be rendered and takes forever??? Also my recording is going out of focus without me touching the camera, why has this happen

Is there any easier way to edit imovie files that have been exported as mov file then added to FCE 4?? As every move I make has to be rendered and takes forever??? Also my recording is going out of focus without me touching the camera, why has this happened any idea what causes this??
    iMovie '08, Mac OS X (10.5.8), FCE 4

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • Exporting File now takes forever

Is it since the upgrade to FC X 10.0.7 that the exports take ages to do?  I have a 2.8 Gb movie using 466 compression and it takes an hour to transpher to desktop.
    Also, on topic:
What is the best format or way to export to a jump drive, to send someone a movie so that they can use whatever compression they want and I don't have to wait ages to export?
    Thanks, Gary

I do not see below Uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2.
Also, when playing to an audience with laptop to projector I hear that a DVD is not the best quality but that Apple devices 720p is the way to go.  True?
    1:  Select File->Share->Apple Devices 720p
    2:  Click Tab "Settings"
3:  Switch "Video codec" pull down to "H.264 Better Quality"

  • Premiere takes forever to render an AE composition that renders in seconds inside AE. (CS6)

So, I have a Premiere project that's basically a lot of After Effects compositions put together. It's a presentation of an architecture project, so it's mostly perspectives and a few animated sequences. No effects applied in Premiere, just a few cross dissolves and some titles.
Each of the After Effects compositions in After Effect is quickly rendered (I'd say about 2 seconds per frame, if that). But  whenever I'm rendering them from Premiere (be it to export them or just "render effects in work area"), they take forever. Like, 30 seconds each frame. For a 6 minute film, that adds up to 3 entire days. That happens even when I set the work area in Premiere to a bit where there's nothing but the AE composition with no effects.
I could just pre-render them all in After Effects and they'll render much quicker in Premiere, but then I'll have to it once for every composition (about 30 in total), and then do it again whenever one of the compositions is changed. That doesn't make a lot of sense.
    A few details:
    - Rendering in Full HD 23,976fps
    - There are a few different types of compositions. All of them are giving me a hard time. Some of them are compositions from 5000px wide PSD files with 2 layers and a linear wipe. Other is are DSLR .MOVs that are warp-stabilized and then timewarped to add motion blur. A few are .EXR sequences composed with a few effects and backgrounds.
    - When I'm rendering them in Premiere, Task Manager shows 13% CPU being used (1 core) and 2,5gb RAM. When I'm rendering the exact same sequence in AE, it's usually about 28% CPU and 6gb RAM. "Render multiple frames simultaneously" is unchecked. There's 16gb RAM and 3gb reserved for other applications. Everything is, of course, 64bit.
    - I'm using a Windows 7 on a 128gb SSD (plus a 1tb 7200 rpm HDD as a scratch disk and another for footage). i7 2600k, 16gb RAM.
    So... any ideas?
    Thanks.
P.S.: Man, I think I just got it. You're the best!
I'd been banging my head against the wall for three days. I just realized every single sequence had a keyframe for time remapping where it was set for 100% speed the whole sequence, but went to 0% like 3 seconds after it ended. AND time remapping fx was unchecked (off). No idea why someone would put it there or why that would affect the rendering time of the whole sequence which is set for 100%... but apparently just toggling animation on that solved my problem. So here it is for if anyone else has the same problem.

Here's what Todd Kopriva said in another thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3813422#3813422
"When the headless version of After Effects is called upon to render frames to serve Premiere Pro for a dynamically linked composition, it's just a single process---not the multiple processes that can run when when you're using After Effects as the primary application. Other resources (e.g.,CPU threads, RAM space, hard disk bandwidth, memory bandwidth) also must be shared with Premiere Pro in the Dynamic Link scenario."
So I guess that's the whole answer. In any AE composition that's resource-heavy in terms of CPU, rendering through Premiere is way slower - especially on an i7, which has 8 logical cores. That means you're using a computer that's 8 times slower and it makes a lot of sense to pre-render in AE before, as troublesome as that might be when you have 20 or 30 AE comps in your PPro project.
The "speed" glitch I had helped a lot, but didn't really solve it.
There's a way around that. Not sure it affects anything quality-wise. You just open AE and do a full RAM preview of the sequence. Then go to PPro and "render effects in work area" for that specific part of the project. If you go ahead and do alter the original composition you're gonna now it because the preview in PPro will be gone. A bit troublesome, but better than manually duplicating and pre-rendering 30 comps and having side comps with the actual effects as backup.

  • Updating/synchronizing takes forever and never succeeds

Hi! I have had my Iphone 3G a year now and I have never succeeded to update it. I have tried many many times, but I've always given up since it wont work. It takes forever, literally, to upgrade it. Last night I thought I'd give it another try. I hooked up my phone to my computer and pressed the update button. This morning, after eight hours, nothing had happened. It still said it was synchronizing and I had synchronized it just prior to the update. I have the latest version of ITunes and I am using the USB 2 port on the back of my computer. Why won't it work? I don't want to reset my phone and lose everything on it.
    Anyone?

    Problem resolved.
I did another try yesterday to export a backup for my new snow leopard ical data and try to import it again. it takes a long time and never complete. so I believe it has nothing to do with the cross plaform or different version of ical.
So I re-install the ical application again from the installation disc. it works perfect afterward. I think the first installation was missing some file.

  • K7N2 Delta ILSR Takes forever to boot.

    Specs:
    K7N2 Delta ILSR Mobo
    Athlon xp 2500
Kingston Hyper X 2700 DDR 512mb (its on the list)
Geforce 2MX 32mb AGP videocard (I dont play games)
    3 Com 56k Win Modem
    IBM GXP120 60 gig ata133 Hard drive
    Pine 12X DVD drive
    LG 24x10x48 CD Burner
    Antec 300W power supply
The problem is that it takes forever to install and boot windows with faster processors for some reason. I origianlly built this system with my old Athlon 1.33 and it had these problems.  I then tried a 900mhz athlon and it worked great, so I figured I damaged my 1.33 somehow.  I ordered a 2500+ and a zalmann cpu cooler and now am back to where I was, when the system starts it  seems very unstable and the screen goes blank for 10 minutes while its booting.  It shows about 3 seconds of the starting windows screen then the screen will go blank for a while anf there will be no hard drive activity then it will come back about 10 minutes later and then boot.  Sometimes the system will work fine then sometimes I cant even open my computer i just get the searching flashlight icon where my drives should be.  I have updated to the lastet BIOS.  Also while installing windows I get ocasional long pauses where it is doing nothing at all then it will just magically conitnue and do it in a fashion I would expect a machine of this speed to do.

Hmm not sure about the cable position on the CD drives, ill have to check that when I get home.  All the jumpers are set correcly, and the hard drive is all by itself and its on the right connector.  Thanks for the ideas, this problem is really killing me, I havent had these kind of hardware problems in years.  The thing I dont get is why it works good with the 900mhz and not with the 1.33 or 2500+

  • HI, I just got a Macbook Pro.  It's great but my mail doesn't work at all.  It will come up correctly, but take forever to download messages,  then won't delete them,  then won't save them to folders.  Then when I go to quit mail it's like it gets stuck.

If you just got your new MBP you have phone support from Apple (which is quite good) call them.  800-692-7753 tell the automated answerer "mail technical support" you'll have human quite quickly.  Hope this helps.

  • MATSHITA DVD-R   UJ-857D takes forever to erase 100MB file from CD-RW disc

My new MBP works phantastic. Only one thing is weird. The MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857D takes forever to erase contents on a CD-RW, about 5-10 times longer than my nearly 5 years old IBM Thinkpad T30.
    Is this normal and expected?
MacBook Pro 15'' 2.33 Core 2 Duo 2GB RAM 160 GB HD   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   IBM ThinkPad T30 XP Pro

It might take longer, it depends on the type of drive your Thinkpad had. Most notebooks, even older ones, have 8x DVD ROM drives, while due to the thin nature of the MBP it has a 6x DVD ROM drive, which means it does work slower.

  • Firefox (for android) takes forever to load or doesn't load at all

Firefox will not load or takes forever to load (i.e. up to 3 or 4 minutes) mostly, I get an "unable to connect" "offline mode" error. Other apps that use data are able to connect to the network, but FF...not so much.
    I'm on a Nexus 5 running kk 4.4.2

fixed the "offline mode" problem by following the about:config directions
    [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/962245]
unfortunately, pages still take so long to load it basically renders Firefox useless.

How long does it usually take from taping the icon until you can take photos?
My iPhone 4 takes 5 seconds, since you're using iPhone 4S I would imagine it should take no more 5 seconds.
Having said that, holding the Home and Sleep/Wake button until your iPhone restarts has shown to show improvements in overall performance (since it quits all applications). Users I know have also experiance better performance by updating to the latest version of iOS.

  • Firefox takes forever to open/startup. How can I fix this?

I am running Windows XP. All updates are current. IE opens up fast, but Firefox takes forever. Also, it is using way too much memory. Please advise.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Take it to an Apple Store for testing. If you don't get immediate satisfaction, exchange it for another one, which you can do at no cost, no questions asked, within 14 days of delivery.
