Export taking 24 hours plus, what's wrong?

My first video exported fine. My second took 24 hours to get half-way, then I force quit and lost changes I'd made. Any suggestions? Working in CS6, have tried different settings.

The time it takes to render a video will depend on
The Frames Per Second (FPS)
The resolution (pixel dimentions, not the physical or ppi they are not used)
The color depth (the higher the colors per channel (8, 16, or 32) the more data that is being rendered)
The codec and format (The format of the file is the vehicle that houses the data) (The codec is the compression used for the format)
What I recommend for long renders is to render to a file sequence instead of mov or avi. If you had, you would have been able to keep what was rendered up to the point you quit. Next day, start at that point. All pro's use file sequence as the interm. As no one knows when the power will go out, or the dog pulls the power cord running by, etc.
That rule generally applies when rendering like a 3d animation, but when it is time to convert the sequence to a mov or avi format, you pretty much have to let the computer go on until its done.
If your files are normally large, then it might time for you to think about after effects or premeire. They can render the video much faster than photoshop ever thought of going. Photoshop is much faster now than it was a few versions ago, but it stills has a long way to go.
