Export tape from L8 with nsrjb

HI,
I have installed an L8 with EBU 7.2. No problems with backups or using the library except that I cannot use nsrjb to export a tape from the library :
nsrjb -w -S <slot num> -P <mail slot num>
This returns the error :
"Jukebox indicated that there are no Import/Export ports available".
I can use nsrjb to load, unload , move tapes within the L8.
The Legato error messages guide says this is one of :
* unsupported library
* fimrware bug
* library does not have imp/exp ports
Firmware on the library is current & I can find no related bugs.
I have also double checked the legato hardware support lists & this library is OK with Solaris.
I did wonder if perhaps the library is not very smart. Whilst it does have a mailsot & I can add/remove tapes via the front panel menus, does this constitute a "CAP" or import/export port? I have been unable to clarify whether a CAP/import/export port is a standard feature on libraries or whether the library has to explictly support the feature. Certainly, there is no config option for the mailslot via the front panel menus.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

While the L8 does have a mail slot, notice that you have to take the library offline when you add or remove a tape. It's a pizza box operating on a carousel loader. So it rotates to the slot to eject/load, but only when the library is taken offline.
Sorry, but this just won't work!!

How can I export photos from APERTURE with a new sequence and ignore the embedded JPEG number? Have tried renumbering to no avail.
    has anyone resolved this issue?
This is now the second big Problem with using Apple's Appeture with NO apparent FIX...
Aperture has NO DIRECT way to Burn to a CD/DVD & apparently NO way to RE-SEQUENCE the numbering system????
ANYONE... I wish APPLE would address/fix these 2 problems... LIGHTROOM I guess is next?

    Hi David,
Coming in and whining loudly is rude.  We are all volunteers here, voluntarily sharing our expertise so that users like you can make the most of their time with Aperture.  Speaking just for myself:  although I do care about your success with software (it's why I'm here), I don't care what software you use.  If you want to use Lightroom, do so, and post your questions in an appropriate forum.
Burning files to a CD is a file operation done at the system level (it is built into OS X).  Aperture lets your create sharable image-format files from your Images.  You then use OS X's tools to burn those files to a CD.  Iirc, you can set up a "Burn Folder" in Finder, into which you can export files created from your Images, and with a single click burn your CD.
Naming the files you create by exporting your Images can be tricky.  There are _many_ possibilities.  Some things can't be done.  Sequencing can be done in a number of ways (see Léonie's answer above).  What have you tried?  What was the result?  In what way did this differ from what you expected?

  • I can't export contacts from iPhone5 with iOS6.0.1 to the Comand NTG4-W204 (Mercedes C280 2008). I can pair its by Bluetooth, call, speak via Comand but no chance to load contacts to Comand from my iPhone5?

I can't export my contacts from iPhone5 with iOS6.0.1 to the Comand NTG4-W204 in Mercedes C280 2008. No problem with pair both devices, call and speak, good voice quality, just impossible contacts loading to the Comand. This is frustrating, any other mobile phone does it, but iPhone5 doesn,t...???
I don't know where is the reason of this problem in iPhone5 or in Comand and what and where something should be updateed, upgraded, installed, reinstalled..etc HELP!

If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
You should have a look in:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.

  • CS5: Bug when exporting directly from PPro with hardware MPE?

    For the record, I'm using:
    A GTX-480 (unsupported)
    The hardware MPE-enabling hack (unsupported)
The latest version of the nVidia drivers (257.whatever)
I discovered an issue, of sorts, when exporting directly from Premiere CS5, versus using the "Queue" option to send to AME. I was exporting from an NTSC DV Standard sequence to a 320x240 H.264, in which I had enable cropping and trimmed a bit off the sides and top and bottom of the source; the Output tab was summarily set to "Scale to Fit". With hardware MPE enabled in the Project Settings, the export would be the proper final dimensions (320x240), but any area that was cropped off was instead padded with black. The actual video content was then squeezed and malformed into the area not occupied by the black bars.
I found that, if I disabled hardware MPE or sent the export through AME by use of the Queue button (instead of Export), then the export was performed properly--the video was cropped correctly and then the video stretched to the borders of the exported video, maintaining the desired aspect ratio.
As I mentioned at the outset, I'm breaking a couple rules and perhaps tempting fate with others, but before I go about rolling back my drivers and the like, has anyone noticed a similar issue?
ADDENDUM: By the way, the export doesn't need to come from a sequence. If I load up a source clip into the Source Monitor, and export from there using the process outlined above, I get the same issue. This would seem to indicate, to me, that this is due to some incompatibility with my card, its driver and hardware MPE...

Did he demo renders or exports?
About 11 minutes in, he [Dave] demos accelerated H.264 renders.
    Harm Millaard wrote:
AFAIK MPE only works with renders, not with encoding.
Well, he did both, actually--but the quote above is a typo on my part. I meant to say "exports" or "encodes." The last couple minutes of the aforementioned demo video are dedicated to exporting a sequence directly from Premiere, and having the benefit of hardware MPE. That's where I'm getting the issue I've outlined above; with hardware MPE enabled, and using the "Export" versus AME "Queue" button/function, I get the strange black outline. With software MPE or through AME, all is well.

  • Can I print to Tape from Premiere with a Black Majic Card? SDI?

I'm trying to print to HDCAM. Is this even possible? Is there a Plug In I need?

From what I understand you can't "print to tape" from Premiere. What you can do, is set your BM card to take output from Premiere's program monitor and record to your HDCAM that way. FYI, you'll need to turn off your Hardware enabled MPE for this work.

  • Export video from iMovie with maximum iPod Touch quality specs

We got an iPod touch to playback short films (made in iMovie) using Apple's composite video cable connected to a projector.
The published *TV and video* specs on the iPod touch webpage shows what the iPod Touch should be capable of playing back the following:
[1] +- H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;+
[2]+- H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;+
[3]+- MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats+
Exporting from iMovie using the *Share > Export Using Quicktime...* option and adjusting the settings to match any of those above creates files that iTunes refuses to copy to the iPod.
iMovies' *Share > Export Movie...* and iTunes' *Advanced > Create iPod or iPhone version* create videos with a bitrate of only ~1.6Mbps - both of which don't look great projected on a big screen.
Has anyone had any success exporting video at the published 2.5Mbps spec AND been able to copy them to the iPod Touch?
    Thanks!

Figured out how to get HQ 2.5mbps video on the iPod Touch.
By changing one of the options in iMovie's "Export using Quicktime..." option: "Export: Movie to MPEG-4 > Options... > Video Options..." resulted in a file that works on the iPod.
    Here's a screenshot of the settings: http://readingpsc.org.uk/files/ipodtouch-hq-export.gif
Select the 'Baseline' profile ONLY (deselect the default 'Main' profile) and the iPod Touch will accept the file at 2.5Mbps - and, oddly, even bitrates higher than that, I managed to put a 20Mbps file on the iPod Touch.
    Here are some test files:
    4:3 - http://readingpsc.org.uk/files/ipodtouch-test-2500kbps.mp4 (6.9mb)
    16:9 - http://readingpsc.org.uk/files/ipodtouch-test-wide-2500kbps.mp4 (6.9mb)
Hope that helps someone out there!

  • How to import all of DV tape from camcorder with iDVD not just 1st session

We're trying to lift the video off a Sony DV camera via firewire onto a mac mini, the recorded material is in several sessions of recording. Using iDVD's OneStep DVD this first session is imported from the camera and a DVD created with several loops of the same session. It doesn't record the remaining 40+ minutes off the camera, just the first 48s test session.
How can we get the whole tape onto the DVD ?

Another choice is to make a one step from a QT movie you already have downloaded into iMovie or to the desktop (that is is if the one step approach is critical to your work). If not, then i'd simply use iM6 as suggested above which frankly is your best bet.
Burning a OneStep DVD from a movie on your hard disk
You can burn a OneStep DVD from a movie on your hard disk, skipping the creative process involved in creating menus, modifying themes, and so on. When you insert the burned disc into a DVD player or a computer, the disc plays automatically.
To burn a OneStep DVD from a movie on your hard disk:
With iDVD open, choose File > “OneStep DVD from Movie.”
Locate the movie you want to add in the dialog that opens, then click Import.
Insert a blank DVD disc into your computer’s SuperDrive or an external drive when you are prompted to do so.

  • [CS5] Using PDF Export Preset from Distiller with InDesign, doesn't work the same?

    Hello,
We are in the process of reworking one of our workflows in which we would manually use Distiller to create a PDF. Now we are trying to automate this with InDesign. My first thought was that I could try using the same PDF Export Preset (.joboptions file) used in Distiller, load it into InDesign, and export my book as a PDF using this preset.
For my current testing example, there are about 115 pages in this PDF document. The PDF that Distiller created is of pretty good quality, and is about 34MB. When I used the same .joboptions file to export an InDesign book of the same original documents as a PDF, the result is equal in quality, but is about 119MB.
Does anyone know why they aren't even close in file size? Is InDesign packing more stuff (maybe related to the actual InDesign documents, or the book itself) into the final PDF? If so, is there anyway to get InDesign to give a similar PDF (in terms of both size and quality) using the .joboptions file from Distiller?
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the reply!
I won't be able to use Acrobat Pro, and my hope is to continue using InDesign/InDesign Server. Since my goal is to match what Distiller produces, is there a way (with InDesign) to export PDFs but to strip out the layers/interactivity/transparency that Distiller does not support? The output PDF will be used for archive purposes only.
    Thanks again for any advice!

  • Exporting files from Ipad with Itunes 11

I have a program on my Ipad that I use for my business.  It requires that I import and export files to it.  Well, with the old version of Itunes, I could do it, but now since the 11 upgrade I cannot.  Can somebody tell me how to do it, or did they take away that functionality?

Actually, I got that wrong!  The best way I have found is to select all CD Tracks, then hit 'bounce cd track' from the file menu.

I don't think this is a good protection: you can have these characters in VARCHAR anyway, and this way you "throw the baby out with the bath water". Not mentioning that right now also immune formats like HTML are also limited.

  • How to export pdf from numbers with page breaks

I am trying to export a pdf from numbers that contains page breaks.  When i print the page breaks are created for printing automatically and i like scrolling with no page breaks while working on spreadsheet.  But, if export pdf the file becomes one long scrolling page.  Which is good on screen but when email recipient tries to print, it prints to a single page and type face is impossibly tiny to read.  I would like to export a view in which page breaks are included but can not seam to find the process (i have recently switched  from excel to numbers).

One thing you might try (if you haven't already) is to pretend you are printing your numbers document, but after you press the "Print..." button (perhaps after doing the "Print setup" thing) do "Save as PDF" instead of just printing it.  Presumably, this gives you the PDF that is used to do the print job.

  • Export images from Aperture with Leopard

Since switching to Leopard I have a problem with my exported images. When I export my images to my desktop or external drive they are now in individual folders. This is such a pain. I never had this problem in OS 10.4. Did I miss a setting somewhere???

You haven't selected subfolder features by any chance have you in the export pane ?

  • Exporting PDF from InDesign with check boxes & name fields

We are a high production print shop and do most of our proofing via PDF. We email the customer a PDF and they print it out, show it to their customer, mark changes, and fax it back to us. We'd like to start letting the customers email their proofs back to us with a check box marked for either OK or Changes Needed, as well as a place for a name and date.
It appears that InDesign will not do this natively. I can make Acrobat do this, no problem. What I tried to do was to take a PDF of the "Proof OK" box with the check boxes and form fields and drop it into InDesign in hopes that the embedded PDF would hold it's interactive capabilities. It does not.
Is there a way to make this work like I need without a bunch of scripting in a language I don't know well? Taking the hundred or so proofs each day and manually making them interactive PDFs is not really an option for obvious time reasons.
    Thanks,
    Mike

This can't be done in ID, but I'd bet they can help you on the Acrobat Scripting forum. It shouldn't be too hard to do a script that only adds approval checkboxes and sets the document for commenting.
