  • Many problems with the 'Export to Text' (.txt) in CR Xi

    Hi,
I have listed many problems with the 'Export to Text' (.txt) function of CR Xi.
These problems are related to this export format only (meaning everything works fine in the Viewer or in the 'Export to PDF')...
    - Multi-columns layout do not export as Multi-column (export only a one column);
    - Numeric values with parenthesis for negative values or with a fix currency sign at the leftmost position are not exported correctly;
    - Fields having a Suppress formula which is "WhilePrintingRecords" do not appears when exported;
    - Fields with 'Suppress double value' checked are not always suppressed when exported to Text.
    - 'Keep Group Together' flag is not working.
    - 'Reset Page Number After' simply does not works when exported to text;
    - 'Keep object together' on TextBox/Section is not working.
    - Whenever a group is ending on the last line of a page, the the following page as the same Group header as the previous group with no records until the page is filled, then the PageBreak and PageHeader is missing but the records of the following group appears.
I would like to know what is the status of the 'Export to Text' function (is it a deprecated function not supported anymore???).
If still supported, when will these bugs be fixed???
    Thanks

    Hi Rene
Export to Text is supported till date. Crystal Reports 2008 also supports this with Keep together working however when I tried with format with multiple columns, it didnot show up in the exported text file.

  • What is the best way to export a .csv/.txt file to a MS Windows shared folder via a scheduled job?

What is the best way to export a .csv/.txt file to a MS Windows shared folder, when the export process is a scheduled job?

You can't directly, as scheduled jobs can only export to server-side data stores, which can only write to the landing area. You'll need to use an external script (e.g. batch file) to move the file from the landingarea after export. You can use an external task in the scheduled job to invoke the script.

  • Excel export defaults to ".txt"

    Hi Forum,
I have a question regarding the "Excel" export button on SAP B1.
Whrn i try to export data clicking the excel button, the window "Save As" defaults to ".txt" extension.... is there a place to change the default to make it ".xls" instead???
    Regards,
    Manuel Roman

    Hi Gordon,
I had B1 on a pc that anytime that i clicked on the excel button and save it, the document would open in excel right away.
Now i have a laptop with XP Pro (same configuration as the pc) and everytime i click on save, saves the document and it doesn't open right away.... i have to basically import the txt file into excel....
The funny thing is that it was opening the file in excel and it was formatted correctly.
    Any Ideas?

  • FCP 6 Export Timecode Errors?

Going on two days trying to edit a "simple" 60 second video and I've reached the saturation point.
I've searched the forum, but was unable to come across anything related to what I'm seeing. Hopefully, someone will have encountered it before.
I'm starting with a screen-capture movie that I made with iShowU. I've tried capturing in "Apple Intermediate Codec" and "HDV720p" (I also tried "Apple Animation," but that gave me a "General Error" when I tried bringing it into FCP).
I bring the captured movie into FCP and start cutting it up (the project settings are "Apple Intermediate 720p") into a sequence.
Everything plays fine in the timeline, all the edits are exactly where they should be.
However, when I export as a QuickTime, I get a file that almost completely ignores my edit in/out points. Sometimes (I've tried about a hundred [no exaggeration] different approaches with no luck) the edits start out fine, then become wrong, sometimes they're wrong from the first cut.
It's like the timecode is drifting, somehow, but I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to get around it.
It's getting so I can almost notice when it's going to happen in the viewer. I'll set an in/out point and be unable to narrow it down to exactly where I want it to be. When I drag the clip into the timeline, I can then adjust it correctly, but, of course, once I export, it ends up being wrong anyway.
HELP!! This is driving me nuts. I've tried reconnecting media, recompressing, different codecs (the "HDV720 works the best, getting mostly through the project before messing up")...everything I can think of, but I still can't get it to work.
Surely I'm just being a thickheaded and missing something obvious.

Thanks for bringing this up Keith...I did a capture this morning with iShowU...edited a bunch, and ran into the same error. MADDENING.
Thank you Jerry for knowing the answer.
See..."search is your friend." I searched the forum for my question and BOOM, there it was.

  • Subtitle Export Timecode Discrepancy

    Hi all,
I've been doing some experimenting with exporting my subtitle list in Encore CS5.  When I export my subtitle list, I get a very nice clean text file showing the timecode (time stamp) of when each subtitle appears in the movie, and when it dissapears.  The problem is, when I burn the movie to a dvd and watch it, the subtitles timing in the dvd player do not correspond to the export file.  Not even close!  The funny thing is, that the subtitles are correct in terms of coming on at the right moment when a character is speaking.  ie:
my exported subtitle list might have an entry like:
    55 00;06;47;13 00;06;49;13 But I trust you would know.
And, when I watch the movie with subtitles on, I see the subtitle "But I trust you would know" exactly when the character says the line, so that part is good.  What's puzzling is when I look at my dvd player time counter (VLC player in this case), it'll say something like 7:35 - almost a minute off from what the subtitle list says it should appear!  And, the offset is not constant -it seems to get larger towards the end of the movie.  Any ideas what's going on here?
    Thanks
    Will

Probably a bit too late but for the benefit of others with the same problem here's my workaround:
    1. Burn the project with the subtitles..
    2. Use SubRip ( can be found at: http://zuggy.wz.cz/ ) to rip the subtitles. The textrip is rather accurate just minor text tweeks are needed.
    3. Save the file in an apropriate format.
    4. Open the file in Subtitle Workshop or a similar program. (www.videohelp.com has a good list)
    5. Save as Adobe Encore formated.
5b. Open in notepad convert to utf-8.
    6. Import into Encore.
With a little luck that should be it...
In my case I compared the subtitles with the original and found that the timing was wrong (2 frames late in beginning and 1 frame too late in the end of each text instance) and that some subtitles were overlapping so I did as followed:
    7. Open ripped subtitle (timecoded with frames, not time) in Notepad.
    8. Search&Replaced the document so that startframe, endframe and textline were separated by a tab. Mark all and copy(ctrl-a and ctrl-c)
    9. Paste into empty Excel-sheet (or other spreadsheetsoftware), make sure the text column (ie the 3rd) is text formated to avoid strange errors.
    10. Subtract frames 2 from each startframe and 1 from each endframe.
10b. Here you can do your translating as well if the timing should be the same for the other languages. Easy to compare the lines.
    11. Mark the startframe, endframe and text column and copy.
    12. Paste into Notepad.
    13. Search&Replace the document to restore the formatting.
    14. Do 4-6 again
If you get overlapping errors write down the time and choose ignore (not ignore all) and repeat until the subtitles are imported.
    15. Check the original timing and correct the according line in the textscript.
    16. Import the textscript again...
Quite some work, but it beats typing it all in again...

  • MAX times out when exporting data to TXT

We are having trouble getting the data out of Lookout.
We have to send clients the tabular data of the temperatures each week. We have the database connected to an Access database and until this week this method worked wonderfully. We get an error stating that the ODBC connection failed. I tried to disconnect the tables and link them and still nothing. I even created a whole new database and started all over again and still nothing.
So I tried to get the data out of MAX and export the data to a .TXT file, it gets to 1% and then says "Operation Timed Out" and will not go any further. I get this message only about 1 minute into the export.
I have tried getting the data out through Excel also, but to no avail.
Are there any other methods of obtaining the data? It is vital we be able to extract this data.

Create a new database, and try to archive 4/17~4/19 data, and see if the archive will succeed.
One or more database files are corrupted, which may not generate error in event viewer.
What's your lookout version? If it's 4.x or 5.x, take a look at this kb. Follow it to fix the database.
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/6FC62F75B74D706D8625694900768F69?OpenDocument
But if the file is corrupted, I think you have to lose some data.

  • Exporting TOC to .txt/.doc

One of my clients is asking for a version of our help's TOC in a .txt format. Is there a way to do this in RH9? I haven't been able to find anything that explicitly says how to do this.

Yes there is. Use the Tools > Reports > Table of Contents menu item. The report has various options but you can probably leave most of them alone. The chances are your client only wants the Summary report so select that option in the Report drop down. When the report has been generated, use the Save As button to save the report as a .TXT file.

  • Fmle + export timecode

    Hi,
I would like to know if anybody knows a way to record certain times with fmle, cos I' m recording a conference and I need the video to go to certain parts of the conference when the video is online. Thank you very much.

    UPDATE:
As well as teh Canon XL-H1 I have also used a Sony HVR M15AE tape deck and have still not been able to get the timecode to be recorded properly.  When using teh Sony, if I set it to external timecode it starts at 00:18:53:xx instead of 09:58:30:00 (I start early to allow for colour bars and countdown clock).

  • PrP 5.5 Not exporting timecode  ?

I have a question for users and / or Adobe. I want to incorporate the Ki Pro Mini into my workflow to speed up long exports Im experiencing with long form shows and graphic intensive ones. My goal is to select Prores (for the moment) as the Preview files for the sequences I edit. Then I want to play it back in real time (not Export) thru the Kona 3 HD - SDI to the Ki Pro Mini. Ive just had a dialog with AJA  technician and they said this process has been done a lot with Avid and Autodesk to create masters. The RP188 time code is embedded in the SDI video and triggers the Ki Pro Mini to record, and so the file has the same time code as the sequence. I asked him to try it with Premiere Pro 5.5 and he said............."t worked perfectly in FCP and with our VTR Xchange.I could not get the Ki Pro to trigger when playing the same clips through PremPro 5.5.I tried both compressed and uncompressed with the same results.".................So it sounds like PrP is not sending out time code thru the SDI video .Any input on how to get this to work is appreciated

Yes, dj_paige I upgraded hoping that would help!  Thanks for responding

  • Txt export data loss

using Crystal 11. When exporting to a txt format the last 2 columns are being lost. They export fine in Excel, pdf, tab separated. I need them in txt format for uploading into bank.  The last 2 columns are 0.00. Is this whay and is there a way around it.

I'm guessing here, but when you export to Plain Text, Crystal asks for the number of characters per inch.  It's probably determining the number of characters that fit in the report's defined width and limiting the line to that number of characters.  Try increasing the CPI number when you do the export.

    I'll suggest -
1] Create a procedure which generates your txt or csv :
    Try using DBMS_XSLProcessor.clob2file() here http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e16760/d_xslpro.htm
This 'll generates the file and place it in the Server box
2] Use DBMS_SCHEDULER to execute this proc periodically/schedule it.

  • Report Format completely changes when I export to TXT (plain)

    Help!
I finally figured out how to make my details flow "continuously" rather than being "stacked" in a column
(section expert: details: Format with Multiple Columns)
so on the Report, it looks just as I need it to be.  BUT when I export, it comes up in columns again!!
How can I make my export formatting match what I'm viewing?   Its a pretty simple report... but I'm stumped again.
    thank you!!

When you are exporting it into TXT (Plain) how many characters per inch are you using??  I created my own interface as well and I used a page size of 8.5x11 but fit in 400 characters by using a font size of 2.  For exporting into plain TXT, I use 53 characters per inch.
Play with that number and by trial and error you will get it all in one line again.
