Export to desktop?

Hello,
Am just experimenting with the online digital publishing and have noticed they is an Export button underneath the Publish button (screenshot below illustrates what i'm on about) is it possible to export a folio online to my desktop? if so how would I go about doing it because at present it is greyed out.

You need to publish the folio before the button becomes available. See the documentation: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/digitalpubsuite/using/digitalpubsuite_help.pdf

Adobe Illustrator Draw will not export to desktop Illustrator with the photo layer turned on. This severely strains my workflow and makes it incredibly hard to add the image after it is exported to the desktop Illustrator. Is this being fixed??

This is a new bug in our latest release, and we apologize for not catching it before it went out. We are putting together a patch to address the issue. The only workaround at this point is to delete the photo and then send to Illustrator again.

Is there any way to export a desktop AIR package when desktop is not supported by an ANE?

I have a third party ANE that I need to use. The ANE has a target for Android, but when I add it in Build Path->Native Extensions an error shows up "This ANE does not support Desktop(Mac) platform". Now, my app is targeting android, but to make it easy for others in my company to play builds without having a device, I've been using the "Export Release Build->Signed AIR package for installation on desktop" option. The problem is, since I've added the ANE, I'm no longer able to hit the "finish" button because it's greyed out due to the error (even though the checkbox to include the ANE is unchecked in the export settings. The only way I've found to work around this is to remove the ANE temporarily and comment out references to it to build the desktop package, which is not optimal. Any other suggestions?

Rather than commenting it out, you could define a compiler parmeter:

Then, in your code, wrap any references to the problem code in the config statement

Then, when you compile for Mac, you just need to set CONFIG::includeAndroidANE,false;

Exporting to desktop

I am exporting a bunch of photos from Lightroom to my Desktop in preparation to upload to Dropbox. I have them saved as .psd in Lightroom. I am exporting them as JPEGs so a friend can open them. They are exporting as very small files...around 90kbs. I want to increase the size of the JPEGs so they will be of a higher quality, but I cannot figure out how to do so.

90kb does not indicate quality, nor does it indicate lack of quality. You cannot determine the quality of your image by looking at the file size. The file size is pretty much meaningless.
The quality is determined by the settings in your Export dialog box, in fact there is a quality slider, that lets you determine the amount of compression (quality slider high is low compression, high quality) and an Image Sizing section that determines the number of pixels in the exported file. These (and a few other options) control the quality of the image. If you set the export dialog settings properly, you can and should ignore the file size.

Bug: Can't export to desktop directory

Windows XP SP2,
Finnish version. Lightroom tells that my desktop directory (and any directories on the desktop) is unwritable when I try to select it (
"The specified folder is unwritable").
I guess I really should get rid of the nasty habit of populating the desktop with zillions of trivial files ;)

Everything works perfect on my system, which is XP Pro SP3 and ReadyNAS NV+ [X-RAID] and RAIDiator 4.1.6 [1.00a043].
I never touch the OS XP folder.file permissions. And as I said yesterday, all I have is the FrontView permissions correct. Whether I export to the ReadyNas subdirectory including update Catalogue or not, the subdirectory is created and the export file physically exists.
The only nag I have is after removing my (test) catalogue image and (test) catalogue folder, although the image is physically deleted the folder is left on my drive. I would call it an LR3 bug, but Adobe might think otherwise. I know for a fact this does create problems if your try to create another subfolder with the same name at a later date. It happened to me a while back. Hey, the light just turned on! I reckon this is your route to check. Even though T:\WindAnimalPark\email folder does not exist in your catalogue at the start of this thread, was it exisiting physically ? If yes, then this is probably the issue. Delete \email folder from your disk firstly before making an export to it even if it is not showing in Catalogue.

How to export to desktop ?

i can't find a desktop option,in 'export to' there are three options,all to do with folders but no option to export to desktop

If you're going to email it you can export to disk as an mp3. Go to Share, Export to disk, and check the compression box and choose mp3.

Cannot use Softproofing and cannot export to desktop

I upgraded to LR5....but it won't export photos to my desktop...and softproofing doesn't work!!! I used both on LR 4. But I need help to fix this.

Is anyone else having trouble exporting pictures from '09 onto the desktop or into a folder?
The error I get is after I click the final export button after choosing the options. The dialog box opens up that usually has the blue progress bar, but the text says
EXPORTING...
unable to create <path>
Any help?

This error message appears in every version of iPhoto.
Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). A Finder Window should open with the file selected. Does it?

No Thumbnails When Exported to Desktop

When I export the selected images from iPhoto to a folder on the desktop in original form, they show no thumbnail images. Is this normal?

Hi Robert,
This sometimes happens for me too, usually if the photo was edited in another application. Check the other graphic applications preferences to see if there is a thumbnail preview option.
While in Finder, go to View>show view options. Check "show icon preview"
This will pretty musch give you the image preview icon.
There are many third party programs that can do this for you. One is called Pic2Icon

Exporting Palm desktop records to an itouch on a Windows platform

Use both Mac and Windows--had a PDA crash and bought an itouch. Any suggestions on how to sync the itouch to grab data from Palm desktop? Or export? (don't have Palm destop installed on the Mac)

Since you do not identify which PDA, you can sync to Outlook on the PC and then get the Outlook data onto the iTouch. If a newer PDA, the install CD has a Sync options menu item where you can switch between Palm Desktop and Outlook. If you no longer have the original install CD or have an older device Pocket Copy from Chapura.com will move the Palm Desktop records to Outlook.
There are possibly other options on Mac, depending on whether you sync to something other than Palm Desktop for Mac. Since I have not used a Mac is a couple of decades, I'm not qualified to outline these options.

Exporting Palm Desktop datebook to .dba archive

I have datebook data from 2003-present on my Palm Desktop v6.2. I would like to archive everything before 1/1/14 by exporting the data into a *.dba archive, and then delete that data from Palm Desktop. The export dialogue says I can choose to archive items I have selected, but does not tell how to select them. I wish to select a date range -- specifically, 1/1/03-12/31/13. Anybody know how to do that?

Do the export again in Palm Desktop, and pay attention to where they are going. It should show the directory where they are going to be saved. If you still can't find them, do a "Find files" on your PC and search for .aba

LR 1.31, Export & Ebay Desktop Web 2.0

I just waned to share a problem that I found while trying to export photos to a desktop folder. I downloaded eBay Desktop / Web 2.0, had it loaded in task bar. When I tried to export pictures nothing happened. I closed LR and then restarted, same result.
When I shutdown eBay Desktop, everything worked again.

Sorry, about the confusion. This is a problem with LR 1.3.1, not in 2.0. However, I didn't notice this problem until I installed 2.0, but that doesn't mean it was not there before. So maybe this is a 2.0 issue, maybe not, I don't know. I will post this in the 2.0 forum as well, maybe they know about this already.

Ok, so I removed 2.0 but I still have the problem. I went through and deleted all the traces of 2.0 from the normal places. I have not scoured the registry to find any all references of 2.0...is that my next step?
Yes, I'm running Windows XP and yes, I'm sure if I had a Mac, I would not be having this problem. (stupid windows)

HIghest quality DV settings export to desktop and back to FCP?

Please forgive me! have looked everywhere but not sure if i'm looking in the right place- I'm new to video and FCP7, (FCstudio v 3) and having trouble finding info on this subject of export quality:
I have a 10 min vid imported at DV PAL 48khz/ PAL Firewire Basic settings. It was filmed w a Canon XM2 camera ('625lines/50fields' at resolution 720x576 miniDV) turned 90degrees to fit me in lengthwise, so i have dropped it into the viewer, set in/out points and corrected the 90degree turn+centered/cropped it accordingly in the 'motion' tab, and dropped it into the 'insert' yellow tab in the canvas, so now it's in the timeline and +plays the right way up etc+ when i move the playhead around.
There was no red line - just green, but pressed 'cmd R' anyway and something flashed across for a millisecond.
BUT i can't do anything with it as every time i try and drag or correct/edit the ends of the clip/s to edit it, looks all on its side again in the viewer/canvas which is really hard to work with! So i figured i'd mix it down to my movies folder/scratch disk as an independent movie and then re-import it again, ready to edit and chop up etc.
Does anyone know the BEST quality thingy in the 'export' quicktime conversion or quicktime movie drop down lists i should use to make it solid and rendered the right way up etc so i can re-import it in from my movies folder or desktop without doing any 'compression' or fancy things. (i got stuck a while back in imovie when i exported something as 'Full DV' quality which apparently wasn't as high quality as 'DV streaming' i found out later, so i'm a bit worried about getting it wrong again here. It needs to stay as hi res as poss as i need it for projection not just internet or smaller view.)
It has black stripes down the side, like a vertical letterbox but it suits the style of the film anyway so that's ok, but still i would love to know about the best way to keep it good and not have it go all jaggedy or pixely.

My workflow is usually as follows: Edit video in FCP-->Export Quicktime with original sequence settings-->Bring into AE to do effects-->Export from AE with same compression as original FCP sequence settings-->Bring back into FCP to add chapter markers-->Export through Compressor to m2v. Before I export to m2v, everything I'm working with is HDV 1080i60.
For some reason FCP doesn't like the AE export.
What's also weird is that AE messes up the pixel ratio. When I play the FCP export in QT it looks perfect. When I play the AE export in QT it looks squished.
