Export to Facebook

Hi there,
I have Bridge CS5 (v. 4.0.2.1) running on Windows 7 Ultimate.
On my laptop, I have the option to "Export to Facebook" (along with a few others, photoshop.com, flikr, harddrive).
On my desktop, I do not have this option, only "Export to Harddrive".
I've gone out to Adobe Exchange, and didn't see a module for it.
How did this option get enabled?
Follow up question, when I use "Export to Facebook" it doesn't recognize any of my photo albums.  I can create a new one and place photos in it.  But when I return to add more, it's not listed; requireing me to create a new album.
Doesn't seem correct, but maybe that's v.1.0 design?
Anyhow, I would love some assistance on this - and I didn't see anything about this so far on the forums, except one item in the Macintosh section (with no answers).
Thanks much,
Christopher

Other services except "hard drive" only available when you are installed CS5 with "North America" or "French Canadian" language option.

  • In Lightroom 4, is it possible to change the resolution when exporting to Facebook?

Is it possible to change the resolution when exporting a photo to Facebook using either the regular plugin or Jeffrey Friedl's plugin?  I can't seem to do it; I only have control over the image dimensions, not the resolution and the dimensions, as you can see in the screen shots below:
I have control over both when I export to my hard drive (or a flash drive, etc.), as you can see below:
I can't find the option to control the resolution when I try to export to Facebook.  Before I got Lightroom 4, I would create whole new low-resolution files of images I wanted to post online using Photoshop.  The image size settings I would use are a longest edge of 10 inches at 72ppi, and I would like to continue doing this.  If I can only set the longest side to 720 pixels (I can't even seem to set the longest edge to an inches value - I can only choose a pixels value) and not change the resolution from 300ppi to 72ppi, then my photos' longest edge will only be less than 3 inches long (right?).  Thus, I really want to be able to upload low-resolution photos to Facebook via Lightroom with the ability to change both the resolution and the image dimensions.  Any idea how to do it without having to export to my hard drive first?  Thanks!

I'd be inclined to set it to zero so it obviously doesn't mean anything
You can set it to whatever you like, and it makes no difference. Most of the time (depending on how you saved it), it will still open as "72".
When you save an image for web, the resolution is usually stripped from the file. It's simply not there anymore. That's probably what happens in the Lr facebook module, and that's why there's no entry for it.
But when you open that image somewhere else, that default of 72 ppi is assigned. Most apps need to know what to do with a file if asked to print it out. So there is a default, and that's usually 72, mostly by convention. With that default ppi, it prints out at a comparable size to what you see on screen at 1:1 display.
And when people see that, they think "hey, web images are 72 ppi". But they're not - that figure is just inserted there by the opening application.

  • Exporting to Facebook - why can't I use the old plug-in?

It's nice that iPhoto '09 tried to help us with the Facebook exporter built-in. But why couldn't they make it useful? Why can't I tag people before I upload them? Why can't I upload photos to an existing album? I wouldn't mind so much, but they seemed to have disabled the existing (working) plug-in that was available. So now I have to export the pictures to my desktop and upload them through Facebook. Hmm...doesn't seem too user-friendly.

Have you considered asking the author of the plug-in?

Millions upon millions of people do find it very useful
Why can't I tag people before I upload them?
You can - have you watched the iPhoto tutorials?
Why can't I upload photos to an existing album?
You can IF the album was created by iPhoto
Do you have an iPhoto question that one of the iPhoto users who volunteer here might be able to help with?

  • Export to Facebook - I don't want to use Chrome

I am trying to export to Facebook using the plugin and it keeps wanting to use Chrome.  I have several browsers installed but primarily use Internet Explorer 8.  I don't care how much you hate IE8, or how it sucks, or how unsafe it is, I don't care.
I just need help figuring out how to allow LR to use IE8 instead of any other browser.
    Thank you.

LR normally uses whatever is your default browser, so if you want LR to use IE, make IE your default browser.

  • Can't export to Facebook

Exporting to Facebook from the share menu fails ... in both FCX and Motion.
    Hey Justin,
You recently uploaded a video to Facebook titled "Time Up". Unfortunately, it could not be processed. This can happen for a couple of reasons:
    * The file you uploaded is not actually a video file. Make sure you can play it on your computer before uploading.
    * The video format you uploaded is not supported by our system. We are always trying to improve the compatibility of Facebook Video, but some videos can be problematic. Try converting the video into a more common format.
This has been a consistent behavior with various videos.

For Facebook make sure that you have set permissions in Facebook apps to allow iPhoto to connect to your Facebook account. Not sure what's happening for Mail.
    Try quitting iPhoto.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.

  • Adobe Bridge CS6 for mac: export modules, facebook export module gives an error every time i try to sign in

in the export module for facebook every time i click "sign in to facebook" it gives the following error: "An error occurred while request facebook connection"

"An error occurred while request facebook connection"
The export module has been discontinued in Bridge CC and as long as it has been there the option for social media has worked only for FB in a few countries. Due to rights management (as we where told) there where restrictions for most other countries. But if it did work for you in the past you should try click on FB in export module or use the tiny menu icon in the export panel for preferences and try to set up a new connection.

  • Problems with exporting after Facebook export installation

    Hi there,
I installed the Facebook exporter app and then discovered my iPhoto is too old (it is iPhoto 4). Thereafter I was unable to export anything because my mac would crash. So I uninstalled the app and since then my normal export button is missing. I found a forum on this site, where the same problem was solved, but this was for someone with iLife 08 and required a reinstallation from disk.
The problem is, I bought OS X 10.5 recently but not iLife, so my iPhoto etc is from the old days. I would be totally, infinitely and unbelievably grateful if someone could help me out here, because I currently cannot export anything from iPhoto. Which disk do I use for reinstallation? When I bought my mac it had 10.3 on it. How do I reinstall iPhoto when my operating system is new? Help!
    Cheers,
    Kerry

Thanks for that - unfortunately I have lost disk number 1 and can only find disk number 2. Honestly, I never thought I'd need them, and they've been packed and unpacked at least 4 times since I bought the computer.
I am trying to get the disk from mac friends - I'll see what happens. If anyone knows how to get hold of these old disks, or another work-around, I'd be very grateful...
    cheers and thanks again,
    Kerry

  • Export to Facebook fails even after reinstall

So I was exporting to FB just fine for awhile under LR4 and osx 10.7.3 and then all of a suddent it starts to fail.  I click publish and then it fails.
No photos are uploaded to FB, no problems authroizing my account in LR.
I've removed LR and all prefs and then reinstalled but not working.
I try to use the other more powerful facebook plugin(http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/facebook), but I can't get it to work; it gives me an error and disables the pluging when I "install" it.
I've reformated the computer to eliminate the possibility of it being some other software.
The only thing I can think is that some kind of strange setting is persisting in my catalog as that is the ONLY thing to go from the previous install to the new install.
I have removed the LR app in facebook and re-authroized/added it.  I've check the permissions in FB to make sure LR can post.
I can't figure out whats going on and is making work a lot more... well work :/
I hope you all can help. I really don't want to have to re make my whole catalog!

Brett that was actually the problem.
Somehow my previously created albums became incompatible with LR... When I make a new album via LR it all works fine.
I'm not sure if somehow permissions got changed or what happened, but I would be curious to know what went down on FB's end.
If only customers were happy with just a link to my Flickr account :/

  • How do I reduce photo file size to export to facebook?

I have IPhoto pics that are 2+ MB's in size and am trying to create a photo album on Facebook. The files are too large and take too much time to load. How can I make this happen?

What version of iPHoto? In later versions you simply upload to Facebook from iPhoto and it handles it - in any version export the photos (file menu ==> export) and use one of the size options (maximum pixel size, reduced quality etc

  • Unable to export to Facebook

I have PS CS5 and the Bridge version is 4.0.4.2.
If I open export, the area is blank- from what I have seen facebook, etc should appear.
I downloaded a plug-in and now I can export to the hard drive of my PC.
Any help please, as the direct uploading to facebook produces terrible photos.
    Thanks

Your link does not work.  If you want to upload a screenshot use the camera icon in the reply toolbar.
Are you using the english version of Bridge. Not all languages work for legal reasons.

  • LR3.3 Export to Facebook stopped working

I frequently load albums to Facebook using the plug-in.  Tonight I got the following message:
    http://static.photoshop.com/products/lightroom/facebook_unavailable.html
The Publish to Facebook service is no longer available.
What's up with that?  Does anyone know a work-around besides exporting to disk and uploading?

Where did you see this message? It looks like it was captured from a web browser.  If so, it looks like FB has dissallowed remote publish, possibly from only your host, possibly temporarily.
Try re-authenticating. You might have to do the change default browser trick to force apps like Lr to use a different browser where you don't have an automatic login. Not sure why, but the auth method that does this sometimes gets confused. You can also remove Lr as an app from your privacy and security settings and force a top-to-bottom reauth of the remote app.

  • Photo export to Facebook

I've problems to export my photos on my Facebook account. IPhoto is running and running, there is no end. Where is the problem?? Has someone an idea?
    (Iphoto 11 newest version)

It's a problem with the current iPhoto.  Until a fix is provided use the workaround that works for most:
export the photos to a folder on the Desktop and upload to FB with your browser.
Also you can check the two solved topics at the right under More Like This to see if their soultion will work for you.

  • Iphoto export to facebook problem

The iphoto exporter tool sent x rated pictures to my Facebook account instead of my photos. Why did that happen? I restarted everything and now everything is okay. Do I have a virus on my computer that I need to remove? Where did the p@rn pictures come from?

There are no known viruses in the wild for the Mac so it is unlikely that you have one
Unless those **** photos are somewhere on your Mac then the problem is on the Facebook side - maybe someone has hacked your facebook account

  • Aperture export to Facebook

Hello. I'm forever taking photo's and running them through aperture to do all the adjustments I want, then exporting them to the desktop in order to upload them onto my Facebook account. As you can imagine this can take a long time and is very tedius.
I recently found a plug in for Aperture using Google, made by some guy who worked on the iPhoto plug in apparently, so I have downloaded this but it does not seem to work. There are two steps, preparing the images and creating the album, however it only ever does the first step and then just stops.
So is there anyway of sharing all of the photo's in Aperture with iPhoto so that I can use the iPhoto plug in, but without making duplicate copies, i.e so that everything is still stored in Aperture but I'm able to export the versions from iPhoto? Unless there is an easier way to export directly from Aperture.

Hi there - not sure if you subscribe to this, but someone might find this answer useful!
You can use the Facebook Exporter for Aperture plugin from:
    http://seanfarley.org/aperture/
to upload your pictures, create albums, even tag people before they go up!
